Skincare - Face -Kiss My Face - Kiss Organics Anti-Ox Facial Serum
luxluv 4/5/2003 5:06:00 PM
I like the idea of all organic plant oils, no preservatives (air-tight pump keeps it bacteria-free), no added fragrance, no artificial colors, no animal testing, and no animal ingredients. Also it is very reasonably priced. Oh it smells just fine. Okay, so it's a little unusual. It is a distinctive smell I recognize but cannot place. I asked my bf to describe it and he said 'marmalade.' LOL it doesn't smell that good. It feels moisturizing. Overall I would recommend it. On a budget, this is an HG serum IMHO. All natural ingredients: organic rose hips, aloe, vitamins A and E, borage, lemon, lime, chamomile, lavender, tea tree, and grapefruit oils.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Strawberry Milkshake 3 in 1
luxluv 4/2/2003 10:25:00 AM
Kind of disappointed - after reading wonderful smell reviews and purchasing, I keep returning to the bottle and sniffing to see if it has changed since the last time I sniffed it. Nope. This smells more like Mr. Bubbles than strawberries. Maybe I have an old bottle?! It lathered up nicely in the bath (lots of long-lasting bubbles) and of course I'd use it over Mr. Bubbles for its gentle ingredients including Vit E, but as far as smell goes; it was not the natural strawberry scent I was hoping for. If you do like the synthetic, strawberry shortcake scratch-n-sniff sticker scent, it still doesn't linger much outside of the bottle. Not sure if I'd buy again, but there's no drop-down for that answer, so I chose no.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Absolue Absolute Replenishing Lotion SPF 15
luxluv 3/28/2003 9:13:00 AM
For 95.00, I will spend more for a different product line (La Mer, for example). Lancome is pushing the price with this product. Although it is full-spectrum sunscreen (a huge plus) and does improve the texture of mature/dry skin, it burns my eyes, no matter how careful I am. Contact wearers, forget about it. Even with careful application this stuff is so emollient, it's impossible not to get into your eyes at some point during the day and just a tiny bit does a lot of damage. I never have problems with my contacts, either. Maybe it’s the wild yam?! The fumes alone are enough to irritate the eyes. Also, it pills under liquid foundation, but works well with powder or powder foundation. As per the reviews for the cream, Absolue has a wonderful, intoxicating smell which is non-irritating to my sensitive skin. Just my eyes! Maybe the cream is bettter for the eyes.

Cleansers -Perricone - Pore Refining Cleanser
luxluv 3/16/2003 3:22:00 PM
Says this is for oily skin, but I don't feel that it cleanses very deeply. I prefer Neutrogena Oil-Free Creme Cleanser. But it is nice for removing makeup in between day and night cleansing, when something more gentle is required. DMAE is supposed to lift, and having glycolic acid in a cleanser is nice too.

Moisturizers -Perricone - Evening Facial Emollient with NTP Complex and Retinol
luxluv 3/16/2003 3:02:00 PM
This is very soothing when used in tandem with the Vitamin C Amine Complex Face Lift. It lasted 3 months, as it was part of my night-time rotation. I love the texture of this AHA emollient, a serious overnight treatment. I wake up with soft, refined skin.

Treatments -Perricone - Vitamin C Amine Complex Face Lift
luxluv 3/16/2003 1:57:00 PM
This stings my sensitive combo-to-dry skin, but the DMAE and Vitamin C improves discoloration and noticeably firms my skin. Doubt at age 40 this is going to give me a face lift. Only a surgeon can do that. But, I haven’t used it long enough to say yes, Perricone is on to something. Maybe I won’t be needing surgery at 40 if I start preventive measures now. To get great looking skin naturally, you have to be regimented for the long term. Taking care of your health doesn't produce immediate gratification. Like, if you meditate once you are more at peace. I admit, 85.00 per 2oz is very questionable, but many other high-quality beauty products are equally expensive. It doesn’t necessarily mean Perricone is scamming us.

Powders -Vincent Longo - Translucent Loose Powder #1
luxluv 3/16/2003 1:28:00 PM
The only other powder I have to compare this to is Clinique and Lancome and it surpasses both. Used with VL Water Canvas Primer and Base, the results were a flawless natural-looking finish, but sheer to medium. After reading Fort's review, I'm thinking I ought to try Nars and T Leclerc too. *Update* I was using in small amounts, but find this is too dark for me when I use all over, and it's the lightest VL powder.

Crème -Vincent Longo - Water Canvas
luxluv 3/16/2003 1:14:00 PM
Natural looking, but not very moisturizing as some other crème foundations are. Probably great for oily skin. 'Porcelain' matches my skin tone fairly well, but the powder is too dark, and so counters the color-match.

Primer/ Corrector -Vincent Longo - Water Canvas Base Primer
luxluv 3/16/2003 12:58:00 PM
Wow, it has been awhile since I have seen my face looking flawless as I haven't been using medium to full coverage foundation for a long time, but this primer helps impart that flawless look with less coverage. Works great with the Water Canvas Base for sheer to medium coverage - very natural.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - acne wash foaming cleanser
luxluv 3/16/2003 12:39:00 PM
Salicylic acid is a great exfoliant for my sensitive skin because it is so gentle. I use this in combo with AHAs which only exfoliate the surface of skin, according to Paula's Choice website. BHAs penetrate the pore. Also, salicylic acid is anti-inflammatory. Dramatically improved the condition of my pores and gentle enough for daily use on my sensitive PPP skin. For 5.99, this is my HG cleanser.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara
luxluv 3/16/2003 12:06:00 PM
For the price, this mascara rocks. Lancome Defincils was my staple for a longest time. After moving closer to the water I wanted something waterproof and ended up with Eternicils, which always smudged and didn't seem to do anything out of the ordinary for my lashes. This is far better than Eternicils as far as smudges go, though Defincils is still my fave. If I can’t hit the Lancome counter or want to save some money, this works as an okay substitute. Didn't smudge, flake or clump and lasted all day at first - but after a few weeks it did glob up and get messy in the tube, whearas most other mascaras and gels tend to last at least twice as long before the texture turns.

Lipstick -Lancome - Sheer Magnetic in Visionary
luxluv 3/11/2003 4:22:00 PM
I love this color and its name. Visionary is a good neutral choice for my pale skin when I'm going for a less obviously made-up look. Fills out lips without the drama of more intense color. Creamy smooth too.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Hydra Zen
luxluv 3/11/2003 10:42:00 AM
Ironic that this is supposed to calm skin, because any lotion with that much perfume (granted, it smells nice) tends to irritate skin. When a moisturizer stings upon application as Hydra Zen does, it has too much fragrance. The texture isn't bad, I kind of like it and see the appeal for others. The fluid isn't meant for dry skin, so if you are looking for mega-moisture, this might not be it. It’s nice and light, which can be a good thing, depending on the weather and other conditions that affect skin requirements. Without the scent, I can see it working well for combo skin. I do find some Lancome moisturizers roll-off under foundation, as humorously mentioned and well-described in another review, but I didn’t experience it with this one. I tend to have the gunky-ball problem with sunscreen moisturizers, as I am trying to get complete coverage and use too much.

Lotions/ Creams -Joey New York - Skin Correcting Body Moisturizer
luxluv 3/11/2003 9:48:00 AM
Not as effective as DDF's 12.5 glycolic acid, but a nice lotion nonetheless. DDF 4.38/oz, this is 2.75/oz, both purchased at Sephora. I would pay the difference for better results, depending on the situation. The label says 'finest imported glycolic' acid. I have to wonder what makes it better than domestic acid. It smells similar enough to DDF - acidic, like it's about 12.5 % acid, with a hint of lemon/pine/rosemary, but I didn't care much, as I wouldn't expect any lotion with that much acid concentration to mask the acidity completely. The smell is faint once it has reacted with your skin. It does work well for tiny bumps on shoulders/chest/back and would be a good everyday moisturizer in that regard, especially as it contains vitamin A, E and D, but if going for the maximum glycolic effect for occasional treatments, I'd use DDF.
