Lipstick -MAC - Pro Longwear in Berry Set
rated 4 of 5

I like this product. This is my second color, and I'm really liking it. I do find the color selection and wear superior to similar drugstore products. My problem with the d/s versions is that you can't try the colors, and products like this really do look vastly different in the tube, not to mention a cardboard swatch card. So the fact I can actually test the colors is a huge plus. And the colors themselves do seem better than d/s brands anyway.
I don't find this nearly as drying as similar products. It certainly isn't moisturizing, but I don't find it drying.
And it does last and last! Texture-wise, it has more body and opacity than lip stains, but not as much as long-wearing lip stuff in stick form. I don't have any trouble with uneven wear or balling up at all. Tremendous comfy lasting power.
As far as this particular color- so far, I'm liking it. A medium toned, natural pink. I can see this coming up very bright on fairer skin tones, but it ends up as a slightly blue-toned pink for me. (for reference I'm NW 30)
I don't, however, wear these daily because the look is definitely a "done" lipstick-y look and I find for daily wear, I prefer just gloss. This is the closest long-wearing product to giving a long-wearing gloss effect, but still isn't quite what I want to wear daily. But I will continue to buy this product when this is the look I'm after!

Blush -Scott Barnes - Chic Palette in Samba [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 1/1/2006 1:45:00 PM

GORGEOUS!! I had held off on buying this palette because the colors looked so orange on-line. Once I saw it in person I knew I had to have it! I also have Honey and Posh, but this is by far my favorite. Honey is great, but not quite right in winter. Posh comes up chalky and too pink. Samba is perfection, doesn't come up orange on me at all. I just get a perfect natural pink glow. I love that I can get many different, and always flattering, looks out of this one compact. Definitely one of my best make-up purchases as of late. Don't let the on-line colors scare you! For reference, I'm currently wearing Becca in Toast- I'd say I'm an olive-y toned MMM.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Infini Curl
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 9/12/2005 6:00:00 PM

As others noted, it would be hard for YSL to top Faux Cils, and I think they really did! I was hunting for something that wasn't QUITE as thickening (so I could build in 2 layers for versatility), but still super lengthening, that helped hold my curl a bit better. This is IT!!

The formula seems a bit more liquidy and the brush a bit less fuzzy, so it goes on smoother, zero clumping, but with TONS of length and curl.

If you're looking for massive thickening in one clumpy coat, stick w/Dior Show, Px, or Voluminous. If you want a more buildable lenthening and thickening formula, try this. Simply amazing.

Eye Shadow -Scott Barnes - Illumineye eye shadow in Maharishi
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 8/15/2005 2:14:00 PM

My HG e/s- well, for the moment.

This is the perfect goldish/coppery color for me- pigmented without looking too intense for daytime. I simply sweep this color from lash line to crease and that's it. Just enough to brighten the eye area w/o looking powdery.

I usually like cream shadows, but prefer the ease of application of powders. Well, somehow Scott Barnes has captured the best of both worlds. The texture on these shadows is really, truly unique. They apply like powder but w/the soft glow of a cream. Amazing. I also have Lilly, Chocolate, Sable, and Velvet. This is by far my favorite so far!!!

UPDATE 10/07 Recently rediscovered this, and YES, it is still GLORIOUS. The texture is wonderful and is so long-lastingly glowy. Love.

Eye Shadow -Scott Barnes - Sable
rated 4 of 5
luckyredlisa 7/30/2005 3:03:00 PM

Love this! RIS and wasn't sure I'd really use it. But it is wonderful and versatile. Right now I'm using it as a smudgy liner (applied w/TM smudge or Stila e/l brush) over my TM powder definer (applied wet w/LM push liner brush). The medium tone is perfect for daytime for me! Gives just enough smudgy definition w/o being too dramatic for day. I'm a student and work in a library, so I don't like to look TOO made-up! The intensity of the pigmentation and creamy texture make it perfect as a liner or lid color and it lasts all day. I will definitely be purchasing more SB e/s- probably Lily, Maharashi, and Chocolate!!

Blush -Scott Barnes - Chic Palette in Posh
rated 3 of 5
luckyredlisa 7/30/2005 2:37:00 PM

I'm torn on this one. I have Honey and love love love it. But I'm having trouble getting Posh to work for me. The colors are gorgeous in the pan, and I can imagine them being perfect on others, but I think they are too cool on my tan/olive/v. light AA skin. I may keep the palette just to use the middle pink on the apples of my cheeks, but I have to blend a different color over the top- the light pink in this palette reads almost frosty white on my skin. The texture on these is, as others have noted, amazing. And they are highly pigmented, I highly recommend using a Skunk Brush (ie MAC 187) and a light hand. I will keep thinking on these, but for now I'm listing them for swap for Samba or Sundance- which I think might be better on my skintone.

Blush -Scott Barnes - Chic Palette in Honey
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 6/7/2005 8:48:00 PM

Why, oh, why did I waste money on other blush?? This stuff is amazing. Honey looked a bit orange in the compact, but goes on TOTALLY flattering and totally natural. All three shades go on beautifully.

I am GGG w/a bit of a tan right now. My hair is currently dark brown, this works with this or my previous bleached blonde. This will work for me all summer and most likely all winter too.

The texture on these is great, comparable to Chanel- perhaps even better. See my review on Chanel blush to see just how a compliment this is!!

The packaging is terrific. Very slick, very portable, but very usable, too.

I'm off to order Posh next!

Misc Beauty Tools -Trish McEvoy - Petite Planner
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 4/18/2005 7:41:00 PM

IMO, this is one of the best Trish deals ever!! The newly revamped planner is wonderful- this is a bit sturdier and just nicer than the usual seasonal planners.

Not to mention is packed CHOCK full of great stuff. An amazing deal- new baked bronzer, new gel eyeliner, 2 lipsticks, and a GREAT brush.

Keep your eyes peeled for these deals- they are so worth it!!

Fragrances -J. Lo - Miami Glow
rated 4 of 5
luckyredlisa 4/12/2005 1:36:00 PM

Like the others, I would never have imagined liking this fragrance! But I was bored at the airport and spritzed it as a joke. Wow, am I glad I did. I LOVE this.

Very beachy and summery without being as artificial suntan lotion smelling as BB Beach. Fruity with creamy coconut, but with just enough musk (I think) to ground it. The musk doesn't get overwhelming at all (like my former summer scent from Comptoir). There's also none of the sharp citrus notes I find in the Escada summer fragrances.

I can't stand JLo, but I have to admit she's hired some good folks for her fragrances.

Shampoo -TiGi - Bed Head Dumb Blonde Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 1/7/2005 12:19:00 PM

My HG shampoo! Great refreshing grapefruity scent, very moisturizing. Def gentle enough for me to use daily- which is saying a lot. I have short VERY bleached blonde hair, most shampoos are too drying and stripping. LOVE this AND the matching conditioner.

Pressed Powders -Trish McEvoy - Pressed Shimmer Powder
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 12/12/2004 9:59:00 AM

By far the best shimmer powder I've tried. Shimmer powders are hard- they can be too chunky, they can highlight flaws, they can appear chalky and cold. But not these from Trish!!

Extremely finely milled, great "glow" factor, great color selection. I have the bronze, which actually isn't as dark or bronzey as one may think. It actually just adds a wonderful warm glow to my medium-tan skin. EDITED 12/06: I'm now paler, and it definitely acts as a bronzer now! So, if you're a MMM or lighter, expect a bronzing effect with this shade.

I think I'm going to order the pink as well. My shimmer brick is just too too- too white, too chakly, too something. Plus I prefer Trish's packaging- I love the versatility of storing in a planner or toting in a charger.

Best shimmer ever!! EDIT 12/06: Well, maybe not EVER, I think that title now goes to Becca. :)

Treatments (Eye) -La Prairie - Age Management Eye Repair
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 12/10/2004 1:54:00 AM

Yes, this is a different product from the Age Management Stimulus Complex Eye cream. But be sure to check those reviews, too, because I think there is some confusion! I intend to try that one when this is done.

Ok, about this product- miracle in a bottle for me!! I was getting the little beginnings of fine lines around my eyes and nose. I've been using this, the Retexturizing Booster, and Cellular Anti-Wrinke Firming Serum. The lines are GONE. Seriously. GONE. I'm floored.

This is a thick, wonderful feeling night-time treat for the eyes, plus I smooth in on other emerging lines- can't hurt, right?

I truly adore LP, my skin has never looked better. Of course, my bank account has never been so empty! LOL But if you can scrape together the cash, or get lucky in swapping or eBay, you gotta try this stuff. Update 11/07- I think this has been discontinued. :(

Primer/ Corrector -La Prairie - Rose Illusion - Line Filler/Primer
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 12/10/2004 1:39:00 AM

Another winner from LP for me! Utterly amazing. Fills in my fine lines, helps make up last, and makes my skin look smooth and glowing. Now one of my favorite products. How did I live w/o this??

You only need to use the teeniest, tiniest amount to get great results. My only tiny complaint is I wish it came in a pump for sanitary reasons, this jar is going to last me FOREVER and I don't want it to go bad from exposure to the air.

I didn't think anything could make my Skin Caviar Foundation look more fabulous than it already does- but this does!! Excellent product, and I've always been VERY skeptical of primers. But I'm in the midst of a LP addiction- and my skin has never ever looked better.

Edit 12/06: I strayed, I tried tons of other primers, including Smashbox, Michael Marcus (which is quite good also), Clinique, etc- I finally broke down and bought another jar of this (the first one did last a year!) and yes, it still wows me and wins the primer wars handily. EDIT 07/07 shockingly, the new YSL primer performs just as well as this- at $38 instead of $100+!

Polishes -Chanel - Ruby Slippers
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 12/4/2004 3:17:00 PM

My favorite red! Yes, similar to OPI's Waitress, but I like this better- it is a slightly brighter ruby red than Waitress's more burgandy-red tone.

The quality of Chanel polish is unsurpassed, IMO. I'm shocked by the number of ppl who have had problems with it! LOVE IT!

Treatments -La Prairie - Cellular Hydrating Serum
rated 5 of 5
luckyredlisa 11/28/2004 6:05:00 PM

I guess I'm alone- but I love this stuff! I find it incredibly hydrating. I always liked the texture, but I wasn't truly converted until recently. My skin was raw, dry, and peeling from a combo of beard burn, depilatory, and flying- OUCH!! I used this 2x and got remarkable results. Definitely smoothing, hydrating, and plumping. Definite "boost" for my LP Cellular Time Release Intensive Cream, which I do love too.

I've now been using it to further hydrate my electric heat dried out skin. LOVE IT.

I will, however, add that my LP addiction is approaching a ridiculous level. LOL
