Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - ME Silver 945 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

I own MAC Satin Taupe, Chanel Vega, and Shu ME945, and while I like them all for different reasons, I feel that this one has the best quality in terms of pigmentation and texture. I think Satin Taupe is warmer and plummier, Vega is cooler and greyer, and ME945 is neutral, so it works for a variety of skintones. On me (NC30/MMM with brown eyes), this is a shimmery taupey pewter with mauve undertones.

Moisturizers -Dove - Sensitive Essentials Night Cream
rated 4 of 5

I really liked this moisturizer; it has a very nice texture, moisturizes well, sinks in easily, scentless, and doesn't make me greasy. However, my skin breaks out very easily, and this gave me clogged pores and some small breakouts, so unfortunately, it isn't the right moisturizer for me. Other than that, it's perfect!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Oasis Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5

This is one of my favorite Stila eyeshadows. Out of all the Stila powder shadows that I have owned, this definitely has the best staying power, it's amazing. I apply it wet, so that also makes a difference. On my NC30/MMM skin and brown eyes, this is a gorgeous shimmery gold that brightens up my eye area. Love it!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Bow Belle
rated 5 of 5
lovebird9 11/14/2004 5:45:00 PM

Bow Belle is a frightening fuchsia/violet tinged wine in the tube, but it looked very different on my lips. I used a lip brush to apply it, and perhaps that made a difference. On me (NC30 MMM with pigmented lips), it's a very pretty high-shine raspberry color. I do see a similarity to Pop Mode in the tube, but Pop Mode looked terrible on me (the bronze tones made it too muddy) and this looks much nicer. Don't be scared, try it and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Lipstick -NARS - Mongolian Red [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
lovebird9 10/20/2004 7:45:00 PM

Mongolian Red doesn't look like a true red in the tube; to me, it looked kind of muddy, not dramatic or interesting at all. Also, the formula is pretty dry. Mongolian Red has just a touch too much brown in it for me. Reds that have brown in them tend to make me look rather dull. I prefer truer reds. I am an NC30 MMM with dark brown eyes and hair (for reference, I love Gipsy, Fire Down Below, and Flair).

Lipstick -MAC - Red Haute
rated 4 of 5
lovebird9 10/20/2004 7:37:00 PM

Red Haute is a sheer, very wearable red for those who are afraid of bright scarlet lips :-). However, for me, it was a little too sheer. In the tube, it's a muted warm red/raspberry with gold shimmer. On my lips (NC30 MMM with brown eyes and hair), it's a sheer, light pinky-red with a little gold shimmer. Pretty, but I wish it came out on my lips more like it looks in the tube. Like all Lustres, it's moisturizing and has a pretty sheen.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre Capricious
rated 3 of 5
lovebird9 10/20/2004 7:28:00 PM

I really like the Lustre Formula because it's moisturizing (unlike most MAC Lipsticks) and slightly shiny. Capricious, however, didn't look great on me (I am an NC30 MMM with dark brown eyes and hair). It seemed a little bit too cool and was just the wrong shade of pinky-plum on my lips (didn't come out berry on me at all, as I had hoped). I noticed that it looked a little bit grey/dull on me.

Lipstick -NARS - Flair
rated 5 of 5
lovebird9 10/10/2004 8:43:00 PM

I love NARS lipsticks in general, and this is a great color on me (MMM with brown eyes and hair, fairly pigmented lips). It's a raspberry red with bronzey shimmer. The formula is a little dry, so if I want a matte look, I wear a balm under it, and if I want a moist look, I wear a gloss over it.

Lipstick -Chanel - Aqualumiere #43 - Portofino
rated 5 of 5
lovebird9 9/11/2004 10:30:00 AM

I love the Aqualumiere formula; it feels light and moisturizing, but is pigmented (but not opaque) and has a nice natural shine at the same time. I'm an NC30 MMM with dark drown eyes and hair, and on me, Portofino is a chic cooler-toned pomegranate berry with a little bit of shimmer (it didn't look too much like NARS Gipsy on me, as a previous reviewer stated). This isn't as sheer as the other Aqualumieres, and for me, that's a plus.

Lipstick -MAC - Oceanberry Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
lovebird9 9/11/2004 10:09:00 AM

I am an NC30 MMM with dark brown eyes and hair, and this is one of my favorite lipsticks because it is so versatile on me. For everyday wear, I rub it onto my finger then pat in on my lips lightly, which gives me an extremely natural looking flushed/berry pouty lips look. It lasts for a long time because the color sets in and stains a bit.

Applied straight from the tube, it looks a little too purple on me, so layering it with my fingers works best for me for a nice raspberry sheen. I like Clinique Black Honey a lot, but Oceanberry is cooler and more berry-toned, as opposed to Black Honey, which is more brown and sheerer. This also looks very good with NARS Sweet Dreams, MAC Nymphette, or any similarly colored sheer pink with gold shimmer gloss on top. The only caveatr: in my experience, MAC Lustre lipsticks (or any very moisturizing, soft formula lipstick) tend to break off more easily at the base.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass in Flashmode
rated 4 of 5
lovebird9 8/4/2004 2:34:00 PM

I expected this to be a little more pigmented, because in the tube it is a BRIGHT 80s fuchsia with lots of microglitter (it's very small silver glitter). On my pigmented lips, it shows up almost clear with a hint of subtle pink and a pretty shimmer.

The finish is very glossy, thinner and not as tacky as Lipglass. I like the formula better than Lipglass, because it doesn't dry my lips out as much and the applicator is much better.

Lotions/ Creams -Hannah's Handprints - Heavenly Body Cream in Chocolate Vanilla
rated 4 of 5
lovebird9 6/25/2004 1:50:00 PM

I love the texture of this cream (light and soft, like a thick lotion; sinks in quickly) and it moisturizes well without greasiness. It was filled to the top and came in a pretty container.

The scent Chocolate Vanilla smells like vanilla tub icing with a little chocolate mixed in (the chocolate smells like Serendipity3 Frozen Hot Chocolate lotion). Scent intensity is medium. After a few hours, it fades down into a soft, sweet vanilla with a hint of chocolate. I like this scent, but I wish it stayed on a little longer.

Lotions/ Creams -Hannah's Handprints - Heavenly BOdy Cream in Vanilla Almond
rated 3 of 5
lovebird9 6/25/2004 1:46:00 PM

I love the texture of this cream (light and soft, like a thick lotion; sinks in quickly) and it moisturizes well without greasiness. It was filled to the top and came in a pretty container.

The scent Vanilla Almond smells like amaretto liquer with a tiny bit of vanilla extract and almond cookies. The strength intensity is medium. However, on my skin, after an hour or two, it turned into a strange sickly sweet candy-necklace scent on me without any almond.

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Red Roses
rated 5 of 5
lovebird9 6/24/2004 5:58:00 PM

I love rose scents, and this is one of my favorites. It smells like fresh red roses (without the powdery heaviness found in many scents, which I detest; that powderiness is what makes a rose scent into an 'old-lady-scent') with a little hint of tartness and a little bit of honey. It almost reminds me of candied rose petals (hard to find, but delicious), though not as sweet. It lasts for a long time on me and stays true. It's not overpowering on me; one small spirtz will leave you with a perfect hint of roses and people will wonder where the fresh bouquet is!

Conditioner -Suave - Vanilla Floral Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
lovebird9 6/21/2004 12:21:00 PM

I really did not like this conditioner at all. It didn't moisturize my normal, fine hair and left it feeling tangled, coated and strawlike. Plus, it smelled like cheap cologne on me and left my hair looking dull.
