I was in a Shoppers Drug mart and randomly decided to pick up some new glosses. GOSH is slightly more expensive than the typical drug store brand (these were $12 CAN) but the texture and packaging is really nice. It's not too sticky, and this particular shade is a great nude as well. I took a ton of photos while seeing the sights in the city and the color came out really great!
Eyeliner -Yves Saint Laurent - L'Eyeliner Noir The Black Eyeliner

This comes in a tiny gold tube, and the only complaint I have about the packaging is that sometimes when I replace the brush/cab on, the sometimes 'pops' some of the product out..so you have to close it really slowly. Other than that, this eyeliner is fantastic! I bought it back when I wasn't sure what was out there, so I got this first, then proceeded to try Bobbi, MAC, Shu, Shiseido, as well as a myriad of drugstore brands, (obsessive, i know). What it comes down to is this: this eyeliner gives you the best pigment (nice dark color), is the easiest to use (stiff thin brush for an even line) and lasts the longest (even on my greasy lids and yes, yoga class). I find myself ditching all the others and using only this now. But perfection doesn't come cheap at $30. If you want a cheap alternative, try the L'oreal one, though the brush is not as user friendly.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Healing Hand Creme with Shea Butter

I'm a little surprised by the good reviews on here! Only because I am a lotion junkie, and am pretty obsessed with my hands not being dry. At first I thought this hand cream was doing a fair job, but the true test - overnight - showed that it really wasn't very good. I would slather it on at night, taking the time to really let it soak in, but my morning, my hands very dry and cracked still. My other heavy duty hand creams definitely don't leave them feeling that way for sure.
Eyeliner -Giorgio Armani - Smooth Silk Eye Pencil #4

Once again on the hunt for a new black eyeliner, I gave this one a shot. In fact, the Armani mua put this one me and the pencil felt very smooth as it glided on my lids. However, as she started applying shadows, she became more and more frustrated because the makeup kept "disappearing." Compared to brands like Nars, I see Armani cosmetics as great for basics and neutrals, but this was NOT a good sign. The mua eventually went back over my eyeliner twice more with the #4 black by the time she finished. About 3 hours later, no eyeliner left on my lids. It had completely faded to the point where it was barely even there anymore! So yes, the color is a good black, very smooth to apply, but it absolutely does not last at all, whether set with powder or not. Not worth it!
A very pretty shimmery peach blush with gold tones. I didn't think this would really work well for me, since I have yellow-toned skin, and always slightly oily, but it's really pretty and subtle. Definitely a favorite, but still might try a deeper pink for wintertime.
Eyeliner -Revlon - Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner in Smokin
lillian1717 11/19/2008 3:06:00 PM
One of the worst products I've ever used, either as an eyeshadow or liner. The minute you touch the tip to you eyes, the powder goes crumbling all over the place and down your cheeks, regardless of how much you try to tap off first. The color is pretty weak and bland also. Very, very messy - I just threw the thing out.
Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stylist Waterproof ] [DISCONTINUED]
lillian1717 11/11/2008 5:37:00 PM
I've had both good and bad days with this mascara. On good days, my lashes are defined, quite heavy and hold the curl forever. On bad days, it looks like I have 3 clumps of spikey lashes and are completely unfixable. The tricky part is of course the comb-like brush, but the more frustrating part for me is trying to take off this waterproof mascara. I've never had ANY waterproof mascara (and that's all I use) like this that it would take no less than 3 cotton pads soaked with heavy duty makeup remover to take off at night. The worst part is that no mater how gentle I am , I ALWAYS have lashes fall out after using this mascara. Hence, I will only be using this for those times I really really need something heavy duty.
I reviewed "A Kiss of Moisture" as well - and have the same opinion. It's a very very light lipbalm that works for about 5 minutes. Positives: not greasy, smelly, sticky or too minty. Softens. Negatives: doesn't last beyond 5 minutes, and this version is a very cherry red, so not really a "hint" at all. It's quite bright actually.
I liked the thought of a lipbalm where it wasn't too greasy, sticky, minty or smelly - just natural, moisturized lips. This delivers - for approximately 5 minutes. It really doesn't do much for real moisture if you have dry and chapped lips, but it gives your lips a nice light coating for a very very short time. It's alright in a quick fix, but nothing major. Though I will give it this: there are a lot of lipbalms that just coat your dry lips and you still feel flakes underneath - this seems to penetrate that, but again, for only a few minutes. Nothing too spectacular, so I won't be buying it again. Also bought this in the other two versions (dark blue tube and the cherry, with same results). ***EDIT***I threw them all out..it made my lips dryer, if that's even possible***
Not sure if this is the same, but the one I have is the L'oreal top coat, number 110 (clear). And - it's not a very good one. It works if you're in a pinch and need something basic, but I found the very next day, my nail polish is duller than had I not put on a top coat to begin with. Doesn't make the polish last any longer either.
Hair Color -Clairol - Radiance Colorgloss translucent deposit only color

I don't have any grays, so I'm not sure how well this would cover that, but for normal coloring jobs, this stuff is the best! I do the split: 1oz color, 1oz gloss and my hair comes out rich and shiny for at least 2 months. I've gotten so many compliments on how shiny and healthy my hair looks. The color is $4.49 at Ricky's - the gloss and activator are larger bottles, so you only have to buy once to last a while. Still on the cheap side factoring in the applicator bottle and plastic gloves. Definitely recommended!
The best red nail polish ever. I get compliments on this all the time, and I used to never remember the name, but after being asked so many times, I made a point to check the bottle. Great for all skin tones, not too orange, not too dark. perfect!
Top/Base Coats -Essie - Good to Go! The Fastest Drying Top Coat

I'm conflicted about this top coat...because while yes, I would buy this again, I'm not sure I really like it all that much. The first 1/2 of the bottle worked out really great. But this last half has been absolutely horrible. I'm not sure if it's the air that has now gotten into it, but it now has a very thick gooey consistency, and my nails chip faster than ever. Also, because it's so thick now, my nails turn bubbly and uneven. So I will still use it for a quick fix if I need to do my nails really fast, but otherwise, I will be using a regular topcoat. But again, this was only after I used half the bottle...so maybe adding some kind of thinner will help?
A makeup artist friend recommended this to me, and being the impatient person that I am, immediately rushed out and bought it before going to south beach for vacation. Wow, am I glad I bought it! I'm not sure if it was the new Nars foundation that I bought too, but my skin has never looked so great! All the photos we took, my skin looked flawless...perfect skin tone, minimal shine, the bronzer and blush gave me a healthy glow...everything turned out perfect, which does NOT normally happen! Just use a pea sized amount, rub between your hands and spread over your moisturized skin. Let dry for a minute or two before applying foundation/powder...i loved the result! Oh, and I used the white tube, because it's mainly for night, and didn't want the "white-sunscreen" look with the spf.
Price - on the expensive side...I got a discount, but it's still expensive for the size of the bottle. Packaging - could be better, because the little spout seems to get messy after a few uses. the product is a more liquid-y than i had expected, so it can run out of the bottle pretty quick! Product - excellent. it not greasy, great coverage, smooths easily on skin (I only use on face because it's so expensive to use for entire body!), but it can leave a slight white hint. Just brush a bit of bronzer and you'll be good! Laid out all day with this stuff in south beach, and it was not greasy, didn't break out, and felt like it washed off pretty well too. Definitely recommended!
