Eyes -MAC - Prep + Prime Lash
lil_kismet 11/9/2009 3:32:00 PM
Although I haven't tried out many lash primers in my day (I've been using MAC's for several months and I tried out one of the L'Oreal double ended mascaras that came with primer, which I hated) I'm really liking this product. It thickens, lengthens, and holds a curl MOST of the time (it is easy to apply too much product, which in turn weighs down your lashes). I think the forumula could be improved if it was less thick. So try and get a fairly thin application -- remember less is more! I also like that it's more affordable than other high end lash primers. It's an efficient product, functions as promised, and works quite well for me. Update: I find this makes my lashes dry and brittle at times, so I have deducted 1 lippy.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
lil_kismet 10/28/2009 9:07:00 PM
Wow, this is definitely one of the better masacaras I have ever come across over the years. I don't wear mascara on a daily basis, but when I do, this is the one I usually reach for. It coats my lashes evenly and volumizes/enhances them nicely. It rarely clumps, doesn't flake on me and holds a curl very well. To my surprise, as large as the spoolie is, I don't have any problems applying this on my small eyes. I find I can get the best application if I slowly roll the spoolie from the base of my lashes inward and lift. Tip: I never wear mascara without a lash primer (I use MAC Prep + Prime Lash)... perhaps this is the reason I'm able to achieve such satisfying results with Lash Blast :)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Copperplate
lil_kismet 10/3/2009 6:25:00 PM
I've been wearing this to work almost everyday in the past 6 months! It's wonderful for a muted daytime smokey eye. I love pairing Copperplate in the crease/outer V with Jest on the lids and Mylar as a browbone highlight. Copperplate has become one of my most-used eyeshadows as of late. Nicely pigmented, smooth application/texture. One of my best buys ever!

Polishes -China Glaze - Fifth Avenue
lil_kismet 9/30/2009 12:25:00 AM
I love this! A warm, dusty/mauvey pink creme. Application is smooth and the consistency of the polish is just perfect. Opaque in 2 coats. Minimal chipping after 4 days of wear. I concieve this will be in heavy rotation for me this fall/winter. Excellent polish!

Eyeliner -MAC - Penultimate Eye Liner - Rapidblack
lil_kismet 9/15/2009 1:03:00 AM
I have mixed feelings. This is excellent for precision lining, delivers a dark dramatic line, is absolutely budge-proof and lasts all day. However the felt tip dried out on me after only 2 months of use. Considering I paid $20CAD for it, I was expecting it would last 3-6 months. I loved this while it lasted, but can't justify paying $20 for a liquid liner that will last me only 2 months.

Polishes -MAC - Nail Laquer-Love and Friendship
lil_kismet 8/5/2009 10:42:00 PM
This is definitely my most-used nail polish to date. It is very office environment friendly, feminine, and incredibly PRETTY! It's a sophistocated, light mauvey shade with prominent pink undertones. Lovely for spring and summer. The formula is decent -- better than other MAC polishes I have tried which tend to be a bit streaky. A good alternative to this is Misa's Fashionista (which is essentially the same kind of sophistocated mauvey tone but with more of a gray undertone and slightly more muted -- another favourite of mine and the formula is much better compared to MAC's Love & Friendship!).

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - That Gal
lil_kismet 7/31/2009 1:16:00 AM
I was very skeptical at first because I tried Dr. Feelgood as a primer 3-4 years ago and it completely broke me out. That experience put me off Benefit products for quite some time. I decided to give their products another go after the sweetest makeup artist at a Benefit counter approached me recently. I really like how this primer subtly brightens my complexion and gives my face a perfectly smooth canvas for foundation application. It works wonderfully with both powder and liquid foundation formulas. Lasting power is excellent, it smells really good, and feels quite hydrating on my skin. I quite like the twist-tube, double-lidded packaging. And most importantly, it didn't cause my skin to break out! My only complaint is that it is far too expensive considering the amount of product you get in the tube. For this reason I'm unsure if I'll repurchase -- I may just keep exploring for more economical alternatives.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
lil_kismet 6/4/2009 2:03:00 AM
I purchased this a couple weeks ago and have been using it daily. This product eliminates the need for a highlighter over blush. It is a very buildable corally pink shade and imparts a posh, subtle sheen to cheekbones. Lasting power is good with a primer underneath and it has a nice scent to it. Packaging is cute as hell but impractical. I'm unsure if I'll repurchase (I'm always trying out new/different products) but it is a wonderful blush and I don't regret this purchase at all, despite it's steep price. This is ideal for those seeking out a perfect blush and subtle highlighter in one.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
lil_kismet 5/24/2009 10:29:00 PM
In comparision with my top 2 eye primers (Paula Dorf Eye Primer & UDPP), Shadow Insurance was rather disappointing. In my opinion, it is just an average product. It worked inconsistently -- sometimes my e/s stayed put, but the majority of the time my e/s fades within a few hours of wear. For the most part, my skin is normal but gets oily from time to time. I think this would probably work much more effectively for those with very dry lids. Another thing I dislike is that the content inside the tube separated after only 2 months. I will not repurchase.

Blush -NARS - Gina
lil_kismet 4/20/2009 12:03:00 AM
Wow, I am loving this blush! It's a matte, warm, orange blush with a very slight peach undertone. Insanely pigmented so a little goes a long way. It imparts a wonderful neutral-ish pop of colour on my cheeks and makes me look alive. It makes a great switch from the norm of typical pink blushes.

Polishes -MAC - Peppermint Patti
lil_kismet 4/13/2009 5:59:00 AM
Peppermint Patti is incredibly vibrant, unique, and GORGEOUS!! As mentioned below, mint chocolate chip ice cream is a perfect colour description -- I give the colour itself a perfect 5 lippies. The formula, however, is a bit on the streaky side and the brush is too thin. I expected a much better quality product overall considering I paid $13 CAD for it, but I am completely in awe with the colour, so I guess that sort of makes up for the cost? As long as I use a good base coat the colour is opaque within 2 coats. I also find that using a quality topcoat helps counteract the streakiness. This is the one and only MAC nailpolish I would ever repurchase simply for its amazing colour.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
lil_kismet 3/21/2009 12:53:00 AM
Overall I think this is a great product. It definitely serves it's purpose as a moisturizing and nourishing balm for dry cuticles, it smells delicious, reasonably priced, and I like the compact packaging. Just keep in mind that it won't work miracles over night or with just 1 or 2 applications. This is one of those products that you need to apply dilligently over time in order to see results, but it does work very well. Also, do wash your hands before using this product to avoid bacterial contamination. I detracted 1 lippie because the formula is quite greasy and takes about 10-15 minutes to really sink in.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Porridge Soap
lil_kismet 2/18/2009 12:40:00 AM
I love the sweet, delicious, comforting scent to this soap -- While I was browsing through the store, I kept coming back to it for another whiff and just had to bring a bar of it home with me. I'm disappointed though because it caused a mild allergic reaction to my skin both times I tried it out. I also dislike how it makes a big mess in the tub. It contains far too many large, chunky particles, even for an exfoliating soap. Needless to say, it went straight to the trash -- all $10 of it :( Not a fan.

Highlighters -MAC - Iridescent Powder - Belightful
lil_kismet 2/8/2009 9:15:00 PM

This imparts a GORGEOUS warm peachy-champagne glow to my cheekbones! However it contains huge chunks of gold glitter, which is a shame, because minus the glitter this is an amazing warm-toned highlighter. I'm sad to say that I will not repurchase this product.

Moisturizers -Merle Norman - LUXIVA® PREVENTAGE™ Firming Defense Creme Normal/Oily
lil_kismet 1/18/2009 9:21:00 PM
This day creme is excellent! I have normal skin for the most part, but get oily in my T-zone every now and then. It gives me soft, supple, smooth, healthy, even-tone skin and has never left a greasy film over my skin like so many other face moisturizers have. It has a bit of a sunscreen scent to it but it isn't bothersome and fades very quickly. While it is expensive you get a lot of product in the jar -- it'll last at least 6 months since you don't need much product per use. This is the perfect moisturizer with SPF that I've come across to date and will continue to use it for a long time to come.
