Shampoo -Frederic Fekkai - GLOSS Glossing Shampoo
rated 3 of 5

I haven't had much experience with Fekkai products. In fact, this is the first Fekkai shampoo I've tried. I purchased a set (the shampoo and the conditioner) at Costco, and now that I've reached the end of them, these are my thoughts: What I Like: 1. The smell. It's an amazing, zesty scent that is a great way to wake up in the morning, or to end the day (especially in the summertime). 2. The consistency. The shampoo has a slick, thick feel to it, that when mixed with water turns into an amazing lather. The conditioner is rich and dense, and a little will go a very long way. 3. Both rinse clean, with little to no build-up. What I Don't Like: 1. Why they market at a 'glossing' shampoo. I found that it didn't make my hair shinier than any other shampoo. It did make it very soft, and easy to comb through, but my hair had the same luster it's always had. And it's not like there was only a slight addition of shine-I literally could not see a difference in shine and gloss after using it. Overall, even though it didn't leave my hair shinier than before I began using it, the way it made my hair feel and smell were excellent.

Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Summer Hill Hand Therapy
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/28/2011 9:24:00 PM

I loved the way the Summer Hill shower gel smelled, so I bought the hand therapy to go with it. As far as moisturizing, I don't find that it moisturizes any better than my Curel hand cream, and it definitely does not moisturize as well as my Burt's Bees Almond Milk, but it's enough, and I like slathering it on my hands and elbows throughout the day just for the scent. It's really understated and light-flowery, but not sweet, and with a slightly creamy element.

Treatments -Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil (100% Pure Australian)
rated 5 of 5
leGingbot 8/28/2011 9:09:00 PM

I would buy Tea Tree Oil just for the smell-the skin benefits are just a bonus! It's an amazing antiseptic, and when I have a breakout, I pat on just a little over the area after I've cleansed my face, and by the next day, I'd say about 90% of the redness and inflammation are gone. I'll rub it on my temples when I have a headache, massage it into my feet at the end of a long day to soothe the aching...my grandmother even uses it on varicose veins! There are 101 uses for this stuff, and probably 1001 we haven't figured out yet.

Polishes -Chanel - Miami Peach
rated 5 of 5
leGingbot 8/28/2011 8:54:00 PM

This is my HG coral. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful polish I own. It's a perfect blend of peach and light pink, with just the merest hint of juicy orange. This is itself is lovely, but what really sets this coral five paces ahead of every other coral I've ever tried (and I've tried a LOT) is the beautiful gold flaky bits that sparkle and shine. It is a sheer-jelly finish, which I LOVE (I'm not a big fan of cream-finish corals), and seeing the gold sparkles glimmer underneath the jelly finish in various layers adds a touch of whimsy to it.

Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - Lemon Lip Cream
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/28/2011 5:00:00 AM

I am a sucker for anything lemon-related; a lemony scent is a sure-fire way for perking me up. First off, the packaging is adorable. I love lip products in squeezy tubes! It ensures I can get every bit of product out, and the label on the yolk-yellow tube is so pretty. As for the product, it's very moisturizing! It's one of three lip balms I use on my lips before I go to bed. I wouldn't call it a 'cream' per say, it's a little more watery than that, but nothing as thin a a serum. It spreads very evenly and the scent is out of this world. It's a sort of...lemon meringue pie scent? It's lemony, but there's a sweetness behind it. It's very comforting.

Polishes -Butter London - All Hail the Queen
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 5:21:00 AM

A neutral holographic sparkle? YES PLEASE! I'd been lemming this one for a very long time, and finally got my mitts on a bottle! It was a little darker than I expected on the nail, but when the sunlight hits it, it makes it all worth it! The formula is superb, smooth and...well, buttery. I have to really pace myself with this one, because I keep wanting to do mani's with it!

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lifeguard's Choice Weatherproofing Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 5:16:00 AM

Whenever I go out into the sun or water for prolonged periods of time, I slather this all over my lips. I have a tendency to get cold sores when my lips are exposed to too much sun or when I'm extremely stressed out. And while I can't prevent stress, I can at least protect myself from sun exposure. And while it's not the most attractive thing out there (it does whiten your lips up), the protection it gives is second to NONE. Seriously.

Moisturizers -Burt's Bees - Radiance Night Creme
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 5:11:00 AM

The heavier, night version of the Radiance Day Cream. It's intensely moisturizing, rich, creamy, with the same 'whipped' consistency. As with the Day Cream, I swear I can see the 'radiance' they talk about, although it could just be a psychological thing from the name. Regardless, it's a wonderful night cream! I wake up with baby soft skin.

Treatments (Eye) -Burt's Bees - Repair Serum with Attar of Rose
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 5:09:00 AM

I like patting this underneath my eyes at night before bed. I have absolutely seen a reduction in the puffiness of my under eyes when I wake up. I don't always remember to put it on, so I can say that I've seen a difference. And unsurprisingly, no eye irritation. :) I can always count on Burt's Bees to make things that won't irritate my sensitive skin.

Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Seaweed Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 5:05:00 AM

This was probably one of the worst shampoos I've ever tried. I have always heard good things about the B&b brand, but I've really found them to be mediocre at best. This seaweed shampoo, and the conditioner as well, must have added a pound of weight to my hair-I came out of the shower with stringy, greasy hair that didn't come clean until after TWO shampoos with anti-residue shampoo. And a week later, I developed bad dandruff all along my hairline. My scalp can get a bit oily if I don't wash my hair every two days or so, but after using this stuff, it took about four days of washing EVERY day in order for it all to come out. And the smell was pretty bad. I'll be the first to stand up and say that I prefer shampoos with a good natural scent, and steer away from heavily perfumed hair products, but this stuff literally smelled like seaweed yoinked right out of the ocean...and left in the sun for eight or nine hours. Not at all pleasant.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 5:00:00 AM

I have about five tubes of this placed strategically around me-in the bathroom, in my purse, one in my makeup drawer, another in the car... I apply them whenever I can. My HG lip balm is the L'Occitane shea butter lip balm, but this is the next best thing.

Moisturizers -Burt's Bees - Radiance Day Creme
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 4:58:00 AM

Maybe it was just the psychological effects from the name, but I did feel like my skin looked a bit more glowing after using this in conjunction with the Radiance Night Cream. Even if it didn't add a glow, I'd still repurchase it because it's just a wonderful moisturizer for day. The consistency is wonderful-light and fluffy, not too thick, not too thin, with an almost 'whipped' consistency. Not like mousse, but rather a heavy cream that has been whipped up. The smell is also a definite bonus-hard to describe, but pleasant, and not at all overpowering.

Polishes -Borghese - nail laquer - all colors
rated 3 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 4:34:00 AM

I own two Borghese polishes-Carnivale Grape and Milano Taupe. The formula is nice and smooth, and the dry time isn't outrageous, although it isn't the fastest. I'm not a huge fan of the brush, but it's not unmanageable. The color range is nice, if somewhat conservative. I wish I had more interesting things to say about the line, but really they're just at the more 'luxe' end of the drugstore polish scale, and they carry some good core colors.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
rated 3 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 3:52:00 AM

I wanted to like this mascara, I really did. I'd heard wonderful things, but it just wasn't for me. It didn't flake, which is usually the number 1 problem I have with mascaras, but it did smudge on me big-time. And it's such a pity too! The color is so rich and dark, and the formula was perfect, and the brush amazing, but I'd look like a raccoon two hours into wearing it. Sadly not for me. :(

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Silky-Finish Lipstick in Jing a ling
rated 4 of 5
leGingbot 8/27/2011 3:48:00 AM

Jing-a-ling is a pretty sparkly light-to-medium pink, glossy, and sheer. It's something I'd really only wear during daylight hours, as I like something a little more dramatic for evenings out, but it does give a lovely pop of glossy color to a muted day look. A bit expensive for such a sheer lipstick, which is why I wouldn't repurchase, but still very pretty.
