Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst in Pink Sugar
rated 4 of 5
lavenderwig 11/5/2012 7:36:00 PM

at 21, i finally decided i should get something that could give me a nude lip. a nude lip that i liked completely, in 1 step. i tried all the popular drugstore recommendations. soft nude, nude delight, fairest nude, there was really too many. they looked nasty and orange on me, so i would try the nearest ivory lipgloss on top. nothing made it look good. and i broke my 1 step rule anyway. by the way, i am asian and white, a light yellow girl, i understand nudes are based on skintone. i got pink sugar for free. i honestly almost didn't get it. the peach-pink top of the case made me think it was just gonna be another pink. aside from revlon's black cherry, it was the last lipstick i tried on while i was at home. i started putting it on and had one of those crappy-funny moments with myself when i saw the sparkle. you gotta be kidding me, i said to myself. i put it on though until i was content. i realized the light lip had brought out my eyes. in the early morning hours i had applied a very white-ivory-pink color to my lid, then a dusty brown-grey on my crease and higher up until i had to stop and put that same white color under my brow bone. before i bought pink sugar, i had returned that case with those two colors because i didn't think they were worth it. the white lid color had some shimmer in it. i swiped pink sugar two times on each eyelid and it actually looked really pretty. i finally realized that i was going with all these orangey-browny nudes and what i personally needed to pull off a nude lip was a peachy-pink-based nude. i'm glad my search for a nude lip color is over. maybe if i get sick of the shimmer i'll look for one without it, but for now, i'm looking foward to going out with a new look for once. it was always, almost-black lip, or natural lip, and that gets very boring. on the formula itself, i find it of good quality--very nice. revlon colorburst seems to have a good rapport with everyone. there's even a consensus that revlon makes the best drugstore lipsticks period. i would have to agree, since practically all my lipsticks are from some revlon line. try pink sugar if you truely wouldn't mind shimmer on a nude lip, and/or if you're looking for a good nude lip color! ^-^y

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous - Black Cherry
rated 5 of 5

i spent a very long time testing and returning makeup, trying to find "the perfect x" and this would be the perfect drugstore lip color for fall. everyone knows everybody needs red lipstick. but fall is here and dark colors are in. honestly i prefer lips to be close to black. i feel they compliment the corners of a person's mouth and the darkness of your mouth when opened makes your lips look bigger and sexier. i tried milani's black cherry and the formula was just cheap. when i rolled my lips together to even out the color, a significant amount slid to my lip liner area. it was unfortunate, but at least i found this, thanks to a lot of recommendations through blogs. it keep my lips hydrated, and i don't lick em anymore since wearing lipstick often, so i don't run into problems unless it has to do with the lipstick itself. if i decide to roll my lips together, an even color stays. darkest color you'll find at a drugstore at that! and that's what i wanted. i see kate moss's new rimmel line has the darkest plum i've seen in a drugstore and i wanna try it. she also has two lipsticks numbered 14 and 15, i don't know about 14 since it's like a mauve-y-nude that can be used alone, but 15 is meant to be used over any (of her lipsticks, but why not any lipstick) color to darken it by a couple of shades. it's like a charcoal stone grey. with shimmer too, which i find odd. but i did use it over her darkest red because i didn't find it dark enough, and it did do a good job, except for the lip liner area of my mouth. that would be annoying to have to go and do that every time just to get one even color. the idea of number 15 is neat though. anyway, way off track. whether you are really into near-black lipsticks or just want to try out the fall 2012 trend, get black cherry by revlon. it's inexpensive, you can return it most likely, it's creamy, it's well-recommended.. the only drugstore lipstick considered its rival would be black cherry by milani. maybe you have the time and money to try both like i did, but in my experience, i love the revlon and don't even wanna keep the milani. plus you get a lot of product, who knows how long it'll be before i need another darkest red lipstick.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Prince Matchabelli- Cotton Candy Cologne Spray
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 11/5/2012 4:16:00 PM

i only find one fragrance better than this one. but this is so inexpensive ($3.99 at meijer) and amazing-smelling. i mean, you'd expect this to be a sickening scent, but it's a mixture high-end perfumes can't even match. i thought the planet was doomed to either fruity scents, or floral scents. i hate all floral fragrances but even i got sick of these upbeat fragrances that somehow smelled "hot". i have this in the spray deodorant can version by the way. but it's nice to finally smell something unlike anything and anybody else. it's literally refreshing. the whole blend of this is nothing short of perfect. spun sugar, creamy vanilla, notes of tender strawberries, lush raspberries and clean musk. irresistable indeed. this morning i put on a sweater that i had sprayed this scent on and i couldn't get enough of myself. think i know what my "signature fragrance" will be for a while. ^_^

Lips -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Balm
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 11/2/2012 8:06:00 PM

i got the color Nourishing Nude earlier today when i went to meijer to find a nude lip color. pretty much this is an expensive, pretty chapstick. at least for me anyway. it was between this and the creme brulee colorburst lip butter. i had remembered my experience trying on one of those, and i cringed. that and the maybelline baby lips do not enhance my lips in any way, infact they make them worse. that aside, i went with this, never having tried it, thinking it had some color, even just sheerly, like an opaque lipgloss, but alas, there was none. the only reason i went with this was because it is made with argan oil, and it is enough to make a difference in this balm. it could have been like every other chapstick but the argan oil makes it so that your lips look like all you have on is lipgloss. not in a juvenile way though, it's not overtly shiny, it's more like to blur away lip lines and as long as you don't lick your lips, quench dryness. i was using Chapstick chapstick before this for a month because i bought a burts bees chapstick that did not help. then i got a dark lipstick/lipgloss hybrid and after all that, i just taught myself not to lick my lips. i probably only did that so much because they were so dehydrated. not cheap and slippery, but not gross and sticky either. i actually did not know it had spf 15 but on the website it says all these balms do so that's wonderful. my burts bees was only spf 8 but it always left whiteness on my lips, making me wipe or lick it off.. it was just pointless. i like the smell of these. it smells like french vanilla, in coffee or from a candle. but my nose has to be close to touching the stick to actually smell it. no taste. thank goodness. i guess trying these on my hand was a dumb idea. color does come from this you might as well think of nourishing nude as clear. i wanna keep it.. ive never been the kind of person that mixes lipsticks, but instead of putting chapstick under, you could put lipstick on, then nourishing nude on top to smooth everything out. i'm still looking for a nude lip color.. revlon soft nude was out.. actually practically all their stock of that was out.. i'm a sucker for anything that says it moisturizes lips though.. i got mine for $5.23 plus tax. probably one of the cheapest prices around for this stuff. try it if you're looking for pretty chapstick that works. they have other colors but remember, they're balms. don't be like me and actually think your lips are gonna get lighter. they'll either be clear, or darker. try em!

Treatments -TRESemme - Split Remedy Leave-in Conditioning Treatment
rated 4 of 5
lavenderwig 10/28/2012 12:38:00 AM

i use the dove damage therapy intensive repair shampoo and conditioner, then put a pump of this leave-in and a half a pump of the aussie split end protector in my hair when i am done with my shower and when my hair is still very wet but not dripping. i braid my hair as my hairstyle every day and i can tell my ends are better from my routine. i also use a tiny bit of this one my ends if they're getting frizzy. you can just feel your hair getting better, i can't really explain it, but luckily the whole tresemme split remedy line is cheap. i know at least the shampoo and the serum are must haves, but everything else seems you could leave em. i wouldn't wanna leave this leave-in conditioner. my ends are so much better now that i use it.

Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Facial Cleansing Towelettes

god, ew. the smell of these is terrible. and then when i use it my face stings. it doesn't take all my mascara off, maybelline mega plush, no matter how hard i try. yet somehow my eyes don't sting.. very strange. and even though my face wicked burns when i use one of these, my face doesn't look bad, like you'd expect. i can't really decide how i feel about it since i've only used them once each day, for 3 days. only reason i got this was i wanted an eye makeup remover that didn't sting, but then i thought why not get a full face makeup remover. then i didn't wanna get a liquid because i'd have to waste my circle pads, especially because they are smaller than towelettes.. who knows, i will only find out what's best for me, by experience. i won't return these i guess, but i'll look through reviews first definitely. my phone doesn't work so i couldn't check it on the spot like i always do. just really wanted something cus my current cream makeup remover is not for the eyes and it blinds me but i can't help but use it. sorry burt, sorry bees, this product's not for me.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 10/24/2012 5:11:00 PM

maybelline color tattoo is the only eye shadow i like. i was always an eyeliner person, and any shadow i got was cheap crappy powder, with and without shimmer, and i was never happy with the way it looked, felt, or faded my eyeliner with its dust. never tried any other way, like eyeshadow sticks, but i just figured since they are chubby i wouldn't be able to put it right above my eyeliner (note--when i say eyeliner i mean a thick cat eye thing i do with the mac gel eyeliner in the pot). i didn't want to get any of the eyeliner on top the pencil tip. thus, me giving up on eyeshadows altogether. i'm not a pro with makeup colors, i'd rather conceal and apply foundation to my face to make it all one color, apply eyeliner, then apply chapstick! very basic. oh maybelline mega plush mascara also. lately been doing a dark wine color on the lip for fall. but that just happened a day ago, so i'm obsessed with this specific look right now. anyway, i tried tattoo right when it came out. i wanted to see if the color was true. to my surprise it felt amazing, it stayed on, and EVERY color looked so good somehow. even the orange and orange is never a color near me. i had a bad habit back then though and never could actually buy anything. i didn't pay today, but hey, it was already unwrapped and only tried once.. anyways, grey is my favorite "color", always has been, and i use an estee lauder blending shadow brush to apply. i use like nothing to get the look i want. will last a long time i imagine. if i have a dark lip, i like to make a bit of a smokey eye. if i'm just using chapstick i can cover the eyelid in seconds and it's bold yet blends if you want it to. i really wish they would create a million different colors with this formula. it is perfection. also what's great about the grey is, to me, when i have a chapstick lip, it kind of looks like it's a color in the purple family. i remember a long time ago i bought two mac eyeshadows, one was a bold violet color, and unfortunately i looked like a streetwalker. both colors had gone back. i never got purple again. but this grey is a nice play towards it. please maybelline make more colors of these i don't wanna have to look elsewhere for colors you don't have! p.s. i gave the packaging a 4 because the parts the stickers are placed makes them look switched around. i kept opening it and the pot was facing towards the floor. and now when i set it in the right direction i see no color, just an all-black cap with an annoying label.

Lipstick -Merle Norman - Luxiva Lip Glaze
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 10/23/2012 2:09:00 PM

i have luxiva lip glaze in berry jubilee, bought from a merle norman shop for around $15. i got 10% off for purchasing with cash instead of any other way so that was cool. drugstore lipsticks are crap, and they cost half as much as one of these, so don't be afraid of the price, especially if you can find your color cheaper online. never thought i'd fall in love with myself in a lipgloss/lipstick hybrid, i'm usually anti-lipgloss but this is perfect. my color, which was the darkest of the lip glazes, i think of as a cheaper, way better dupe of urban decay's oil slick. i imagine this color would look good on anyone, but just to note, i am a warm-toned asian-caucasian girl. i normally hate glosses for their stickiness, but this is not tacky at all, my hair doesn't stick to it. it's the softest lipstick i've ever felt, and you can make it go from sheer to opaque. either way, this compliments the '90s goth look i'm going for, or if you just love the dark lip trend going on for fall. i can't speak enough about this, i can't stop looking at myself, i'm so happy with this purchase and may look into merle norman some more. also i am always licking my lips, yet this stays on. it has lasting power like no other. i bet you could even glide this over any color. and this is moisturizing. even though i lick my lips, i actually haven't since i put it on many many hours ago. but when you want it off, it comes off in one single swipe with a square of tp. :> put anything you want underneath, chapstick, lip primer, whatever, you will love this. no scent, no taste, i have hope for lipsticks again.

Concealers -Revlon - ColorStay Blemish Concealer with Soft Flex
rated 4 of 5
lavenderwig 9/20/2012 1:28:00 PM

I feel like I used to use something like this before, but it definitely wasn't packaged as lipgloss for your face. I have no problem using it, but I use it on my whole face. As a concealer for spots, I think it'd be hard to blend (unless you were also wearing foundation.. around it..?). Personally, I love this. I don't get acne much but before my dot this month my face seemed to be breaking out, and I was doing all I could (and still am) to keep acne at bay. A mask, a cleanser, a toner, a clear cream, and another mask overnight and/or during the day if I wasn't leaving the house. Originally I left the house just to get a jar of caramel. But it seems I got myself a new regimen as well. Two spot treatments I've never tried, and this! Another bad thing about it is if your blemish is right underneath the dark circle of your eye you especially gotta try harder to blend. And not into that thin skin because it will dryyy out. I'm half Japanese, half Caucasian, warm skin, got myself #630 color Light/Medium. If anything bad happens, I'll edit my review. So far so good for dotting all over and blending on the face. Just got this one healing pimple next to my nose that I'm obviously doing anything to get rid of. Covers well. Has a scent that I'm already sick of. Not expensive, but we'll see how long it'll last for somebody using it on the whole face.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush
rated 1 of 5
lavenderwig 9/17/2012 8:24:00 PM

EDIT: A funny way to get this on your face is by pressing the product into your face. Not the whole thing, but that curved half of your cheek bone. Of course gotta blend. Okay I have four of these so here goes a review for all of em. I got Coffee Cake, Fresh Pink, Pink Plum, and Pink Frosting. I got CC before any of em and I liked it so I figured a real blush pink color would look good. I was over the bouncy part when I was done playing with CC. Getting the color onto your finger onto your face is a freaking task, and if you get irritated like me and decide to push the product around harder, little bits ball up and this is gross. It's an incredibly sheer product, you think you have a lot on your finger, nope, by the time you're done blending it it's pretty much all gone.. somewhere. Probably so sheer I can't even detect it on my hands or my face. Maybe I applied it wrong, I used a finger, smiled, swirled the product on in an oval motion on top of my cheeks and toward my cheek bones. Then I filled in the little triangular space below these parts. I know that is how it's done with a brush, so maybe my last step messed it up? What I did was took my four fingers (not my thumbs) to each cheek and try to blend it out on my face more. Maybe I should have built up instead of take away? I don't know, I just feel like a good product wouldn't disappear with a few swirls of the hand. Could have been my light olive skin tone, but in the end, mineral powder blush was easier to apply, stayed, and looked better than this bouncy sh*t. The pinks just wouldn't take. Pink Frosting was the only one you could see but it still looked weird, to me anyways. But even through this I am still curious about the most popular Hot Tamale color. And the other brown blushes since Coffee Cake was such a healthy tan-look success. I think it's the little individual shells that I'm so obsessed with, I just love to hold them like I wish Maybelline would have made eye colors this way instead of awful blushes. Of course those don't even stay on your lid either--I tried. -_- And the labeling is a huge problem. The color title is on the ingredients list is on the freaking tape lip that you cut to open up the shell. So if you don't need to know the ingredients anymore or have the blushes memorized, you will be lucky enough to rip the entire label off which I did with Coffee Cake because it's obvious. But now I deal with multiple edges of tape that I would love to rip off but can't because I'm an idiot for not memorizing three pinks that look the same (but not when applied). Eh, guess if I put on the wrong shade I could just buff myself back to nude. Okay so, crappy blush, get one if you must try, I suggest one of the brown tones for those of the olive skin tone, like me. Get that pressing squishiness out of your system, and move on to (mineral) powder blush like it has always been, and always was supposed to be.

Polishes -Revlon - Gray Suede #705
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 9/16/2012 3:50:00 PM

Really humble shade. First coat goes on almost completely opaque. I prefer one coat of this to two coats because your nails come through, blending to make a very beautiful subtle mauve shade. It especially shows in the dark, like right now my pc moniter is the only light and the nails with two coats are definitely more opaque. In natural light nobody would notice the difference. Dried so fast. When I think about it, a lot of polishes I love are from them. Especially the scented ones, these pastel colors lavender is gum drop, pink is bubblegum? and blue is blueberry. Love you Revlon. :>

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum Express The Falsies Flared
rated 1 of 5
lavenderwig 9/14/2012 9:28:00 PM

tested this on one eye vs maybelline mega plush on the other. read my review if you want to hear about that, but I'll review falsies flared here as well. it does open your eye up, and flares at the end if you want it to. but I want thick thick thick lashes and what this does is it coats every lash in a triangular way, so from afar you see many lashes, and when it's dried you do feel every seperated lash. has great curl if you're looking for that. was hard to apply evenly on the bottoms. also falsies flared should be called falsies flakes. flakes and flakes and flakes from this mascara. I really hate that. mega plush has 0 fallout. mega plush may beat lash blast as my favorite mascara. :) falsies flared is definitely never going to be used by me again. there are three versions of falsies, I tried the flared obviously, I actually would like to try the thickening version. there's like an image of a net on it. so interested! but falsies flared is out of here. also when I cried, ALL of this mascara disappeared. and that is the correct word! because I didn't even realize until I was finished cleaning my face. maybelline is just trying to make money on random crapscaras like this. get mega plush if you want heavy from thickness lashes. ironically, falsies flared looks pretty natural to me.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 9/14/2012 9:13:00 PM

decided I wanted to try a new mascara. one I wanted was not at kroger, so I got this and maybelline falsies flared (font is silver instead of teal) for free so I could test them against eachother. unfortunately I cried a little bit ago hence why I'm doing a review tonight instead of tomorrow but it's cool since I know everything I need to know. okay, my view on mascaras is this: most companies are selling a brush. that's all it seems like to me. why else would maybelline make two "different" mascaras ? maybe I don't get it. on to the test! mega plush vs falsies flared! k, the whole gel thing is cool. you can tell it applies easily because my inner eye lashes got thicker and longer without having to use the glob at the top of the brush. the gel was just so soft and grabbed on. definitely a thickening mascara, one of those that makes you look like you have eyeliner on at the top. on my bottom lashes it worked well too. all lashes looked pretty evenly coated, no weird spots. and this DOES NOT FLAKE!! such a cool thing, cus I hate mascara flakes. when I cried, this mascara stayed! on both top and bottom lashes. what a toughie. buut since it's so thickening (and I don't use a curler), it does not curl on its own and the falsies did actually go up. so I sorta had a cool lazy eye haha. cus the falsies were up, my waterline was showing which just looks like a sliver of the white of my eye making it look more open, whereas mega plush weighed things down. I will never get falsies again though. same company, but the mascara sucked. the feeling of mega plush on my finger was just softness. the feeling of falsies was you could definitely feel all the seperated lashes at once. so falsies looked more eyelashy since they did not get thicker up top like mega plus, which is also why mega plush gives that eyeliner look. falsies was hard to apply on the bottom without doing it unevenly, and FALSIES FLARED FLAKES! that's seriously what they should call it. falsies flakes. flakes when you apply, flakes as it dries. it does do a good flare at the end, but with this on one eye and mega plush on the other, mega plush was thicker and that's what I wanted. also when I cried, falsies flared completely came off. I didn't even know until I was finished wiping my face clean. in the end, no mascara's gonna look as good as fake lashes, unless you already have beautiful ones. so I always do 2-day tests, usually I compare one to great lash since great lash is cheap but I wanted to do these both. understand why your makeup sucks or why it rocks your world.

Styling Products -Farouk CHI - Chi Silk Infusion
rated 5 of 5
lavenderwig 9/14/2012 8:41:00 PM

I got this and first thing I had to do was smell this infamous scent. I can see myself smelling this on an important boyfriend and loving the scent forever. This is easily a quality unisex product. I didn't buy this but seriously my hair is long, I barely used a dime sized amount and it was enough. what I'm saying is if you can get a deal on this, cool, but if you have to pay $25 for a bottle, you will find that it will A) last forever and even more importantly B) actually WORK so that you don't need to buy product after product trying to find things that work. it does multiple things. it's vague on the bottle, pretty much absolutely no directions, but you can use it in any way. wet, dry, before styling, after styling. use it as a heat protectant, as a split end mender, as a de-frizzer, this is a must have for everybody that appreciates their hair. my hair did look better after this, and the cologne smell fades away into your hair to turn into the cleanest scent, thank you chi, this is really nice. p.s. when I use this on wet braids I wake up with lovely waves and when I use just water or any other product nothing happens. love the real deal.
