Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible Eyeshadow - Bronzed Taupe
kathrynb23 2/14/2012 8:45:00 PM
I own a couple of the Giorgio Armani "Eyes to Kill Intense" and the Chanel one and I absolutely loathe that expensive rubbish. I don't know who was the first person to even try and compare these to the Armani or Chanel ones and call it a dupe, but to me there is a world of difference between the 3 product! The amount of crumble you get from all 3 brands is pretty much the same to me, the colour payoff, the longevity, durability of 24HR Infallible eyeshadow, and the cost by far beats the Armani and Chanel! Bronzed Taupe is an amazing metallic taupe with gold shimmer/specs/flex(whatever!). Super pigmented, a little goes a long way, best applied with fingers in a gentle swiping motion. This colour was not part of the L'Oreal collection in Australia, most of my 24HR Infallible eyeshadows were purchased on eBay from an incredible seller in the USA. These cost me between $5.95USD-$6.95USD that's a steal honestly, considering it cost 3x more in Australia.

Eye Shadow -Sleek - i-Divine Palette - Oh So Special
kathrynb23 2/12/2012 5:06:00 PM
I generally love all the Sleek palettes, this one included. My 2 most favourite colour from this palette is Organza and Gateau. This is a palette that can take you from day to night and handy in your makeup bag. I have a large number of Sleek palettes, and although I do love them all, I think some of the palettes are starting to look a bit repetitive. If you have a large selection of eye shadows, I think you can skip out on this palette, collectors would see that this palette is nothing too special. I think this palette is relatively great for people on budget or don't want to spurge out a lot of money. The palette itself is of fantastic quality and price.

Fragrances -Chloe - Chloe EdP Intense
kathrynb23 2/9/2012 6:05:00 PM
I absolutely love the normal Chloe by Chloe with the white/beige ribbon, one of my most favorite scent. I only received this last night, my partner knew I love Chloe and he just wanted to buy me another bottle, but he got the wrong one, he brought "Intense" without knowing the difference between the two. Chloe was quiet strong, yet light and subtle with a scent I can only describe as an orchestra of abundant floral. "Intense" is yet even stronger, definitely more spicy and warmer notes, I wouldn't call it musky though, for some reason I just don't get the musk, I don't know whether it's even there or not. Spicy & Fresh Rose is exactly what I smell, the scent reminds me of "Potpourri"(That's the word I was looking for!). "Intense" comes across as old ladyish and is better worn in cooler months.

Blush -NARS - Angelika
kathrynb23 2/8/2012 8:27:00 PM
I cannot believe I actually forgot about Angelika! I don't even remember when, where, or how I came to this purchase only till earlier this month when I went through my stash and found it. The amount of shimmer in this blush is ridiculous and upon first impression, I thought I knew the reason why I forgot about Angelika. I had some sort of mental note in my head that this would be like Super Orgasm which was a blush that I don't love all that much. I think I came to that conclusion because the shimmer and the colour resembles Super Orgasm a bit. This blush is amazing, it's definitely more pink and pigmented then Super Orgasm, it is what I wish Super Orgasm would be. I think for fair skin people this blush would look soo flattering. I usually wear this during the day and especially on days with sunshine, there just something about the sun and shimmer, that seem to add a bit to this blush(although in Sydney at the moment, with our horrid summer, asking for sunshine is like trying to reach for the stars!). On the side note, the shimmer on this is not overpowering at all!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Silica
kathrynb23 2/8/2012 5:56:00 PM
I've been taking Silica supplements in the form of tablet by a brand called Microgenics Advanced Silica Complex with Grapeseed. I was told this would be great for skin, hair and nails. I was told by professional that I would see improvements in my skin and hair with long term use of this supplements and not to give up after 1 month, soo I did continue use and I did so for almost 2 months, and I couldn't continue any further then that. These are my results: 1. The first week of use was horrific! But that was my own fault. I didn't read the label on the packaging properly, I thought it was take one tablet daily in the morning. The packaging actually said "take once daily, with food". In the morning I usually don't eat breakfast, after taking this in the morning I was feeling really, really sick I had symptoms of vomiting, nausea etc mimicking what I believe to be morning sickness, and it really gave my partner false hopes because he thought maybe we got lucky. I on the other thought there is no way it could be morning sickness, my cycle just ended at exactly the same time that I started taking Silica supplements, even if we did got lucky, morning sick would not have started that soon. After I went back and had a closer inspection of the direction to use, I change my regime, I now take it once at night before bed after dinner, and the symptoms went away, and it was heartbreaking to see those symptoms go away, cause we were hoping it might be something else/ or a little someone else rather then the Silica. 2. Dehydration! OMG I was drinking like a cow all day long. I never use to do that. I could be unconsciously drinking anywhere between 250ml-300ml of water each time and not realise it till I saw the bottle, and this was constant throughout the day. My mouth is always dry, I couldn't wear my retainers for my teeth at night anymore because my mouth is always dry. I'm always going bathroom breaks, and even at night the drinking and the bathroom, it really disturbs the person next to me. I felt like a water addict. Outcome: Nothing, I later did research and found out, a lot of the food I ate daily had silica in it anyways, it was really pointless to take silica tablets for me. I also later found out that women who was pregnant or breastfeeding should not take silica supplements anyways. Though I'm not in either of these categories, I really don't want any unnecessary factors ruining my chances, and that was the reason why I cease use immediately after I realise it didn't do much for me. My partner begged me not to take these supplements after 3 weeks of use, but I persisted for almost 2 months. Eventually I had to face the fact that my overall health is the same before, during and now after the silica. The only changes that it caused, and that was noticeable was the ballooning of my stomach with all the water. I'm not sure whether this is caused by the brand that I using, the actual ingredients, or some other factor, but I definitely wont be trying any other silica supplements anytime soon.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Arabian Nights trio
kathrynb23 2/5/2012 5:30:00 AM
This trio is unlike any other of my NARS shadows, the amount of fall out and it's easiness to crack/crumble is pretty much in the same league Wet N Wild, and Coastal Scents(all us makeup fanatics/collectors know, these are infamous for breaking/cracking) or in my case, even worse. I must admit, when I brought this trio, which was part of the Nars holiday collection in 2011, I did not know that it was all black shadow with different colour flexes/shimmer. The colour of the shimmer in the pan was quiet strong and vibrant that I thought, it should work......no it didn't! The amount of fall out was crazy, the black was nothing great, nor pigmented, it didn't matter which of the 3 colour you use, the fall out cause the shimmer to disappear and your left with boring matte black. Even when applied wet, which looked amazing on application, but when it dries down your left with the same old problem. Very disappointed with NARS this time!

Eye Shadow -Rock & Republic - Asphalt
kathrynb23 2/2/2012 9:35:00 PM
I must say, out of all my R&R eyeshadow, I was a little disappointed with this one. Quality is as always fantastic like all my other R&R eyeshadow. This is a beautiful brownish grey colour, and I can see why this would be loved by a lot of people except me. Firstly I'm not monolid (I do have a fold, so I'm entirely unfortunate LOL!), I have Asian features which means, unlike many blessed Asian I dont have deep eye socket, basically I don't have what people call a "Crease", my eyes are very flat is what I'm trying to say! I can see this would be an absolute amazing crease colour. For me however, not matter how I try to use it, it just makes my eyes look tired, dirty and everything muddy.

Highlighters -Estee Lauder - Topaz Chameleon Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee
kathrynb23 2/1/2012 8:20:00 PM
When I first caught site of Modern Mercury, which is Topaz Chameleon's predecessor, I literally fell over! OMG From colour, quality right down to packaging speechless! When Topaz Chameleon was released, I just had to get it as well. My review is actually for both Modern Mercury(no point in starting a new review thread if people cant get it anymore) and Topaz Chameleon Modern Mercury OMG, one word PERFECT! Metallic rose gold, are the only words I can use to describe the colour. I wouldn't say it shimmery with glitter, but it does have a very fresh sheen. I use this as a higlighter obviously, but I wouldn't go around highlighting my entire face with this, and I also use it as eyeshadow as well. I always get compliments when I wear this, people are always asking me how I do my makeup, and what highlighter I used to give my face that multi - dimensional sheen, that doesn't look obvious, white cast, or make my Asian facial features look flat. The colour, blends in beautifully with my NC30 skin tone, but people who are fair, I think the Rose Gold colour, would stand out a lot more your skin, whether that good or not I dont know. Topaz Chameleon I do love Topaz Chameleon a lot, but I wouldn't say as much as Modern Mercury. This is a lot more brown then I thought. The colour to me is a warm tone metallic brown. It can be used as a bronzer, or for contouring, but more me I found this a little more difficult to work with, it was too dark for me to use as a higlighter, and it has too much sheen for me to use as a bronzer, or to contour. It was absolutely amazing as a shadow though! I usually blend a little of this with my bronzer just for that sun kissed glow, and it looks absolutely amazing, but on its own as a bronzer, I think the sheen is too much. Quality The design looks amazingly gorgeous, supposedly this is a Tribrid formulation, of powder, liquid and gel, whatever... Look like a mousse to me, applies like a powder feels buttery smooth like a gel! Last all day, and you don't need to cake this on. Definitely not crumbly, doesn't crease, and the colour doesn't disappear, you still get the beautiful colour all day. As an eyeshadow, these don't need a primer at all, and both variation of colours at the mmoment, seem to be foolproof and suitable to wear both day or night. I think this is a new thing for Estee Lauder now, I reckon they are going to release a Powder Gelee in every new season with different colour, I think these would be a permanent thing with release of new collection, soo keep an eye out for the next collection, but I don't think these are going to be a part of their regular line. A lot of people are suprise when I told them this is from Estee Lauder, I think Estee Lauder has been in the background for a long time that people forget about it. I do use other Estee Lauder product from their regular line, most are generally a hit for me. I been wanting to buy a back up of Modern Mercury, my current one was shipped from USA, I called up EL in Australia, supposedly we are one season behind, and when I called in October, they said towards end of 2011 or Jan 2012, I honestly dont think we are getting this Here in Australia till about Easter, soo Aussies keep an eye out! (BTW my partner thinks I'm an idiot when I talk about these thing! In honest truth I actually don't blame him!)

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Peach Petal
kathrynb23 1/30/2012 5:11:00 PM
After loving Nude Lustre soo much I decided to try this colour from Revlon, eeeww! It looks like a big film goop on top of my lips! How disgusting! This does look good on top of a pink base lipstick, but on its own it's awful! I do agree with others, this does come across as streaky. If you ever do unintentionally press your lips together and forget that you have this on, it does become patchy and it looks disgusting.

I do quiet enjoy this ploish remover, I feel it doesn't remove stubborn polishes as well as I could have wanted. Easily accessible and affordable.

Absolutely love this and it's especially great for people who work in an industry where nail polish is not permitted at work. Takes about 5 minutes from start to finish everytime, to get a nice perfect shine on all your nails.

Makeup Brushes -Smashbox - Crease #15
kathrynb23 1/18/2012 6:51:00 PM
I know this is a crease brush, but I hardly ever define my crease when I do makeup. I had this brush since forever, and I just forgot about it, I never really found much use for it till now. I always highlight my inner corner and I never really found a brush or anything that can apply shadows in that area neatly enough. Just a few weeks ago I pulled this brush out of my "forgot stash" and used it to highlight my inner corner and I was soo amazed! I can't understand why I didn't see this before? It is a small dense and tapered brush, with a tip that's round, and not pointy like the Sigma one. It's just like dipping a soft pencil into your shadows and drawing neatly around the rims of your eyes on the inner corner.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
kathrynb23 1/10/2012 10:00:00 PM
Although I hated the Cetaphil Lotion, I actually do like this cleanser a lot. I use this on a day where I've worn minimal to no makeup, I just cleanse my face with this in the shower just to get rid of any oil or dirt that's accumulated during the day.
