Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Ultra Nude Eye Palette
julia178 1/9/2012 4:29:00 PM
The Ultra Nude Palette is part of the pre-spring Neons & Nudes Collection launched in January '12. Retails for $45 and includes a high quality double ended angled eye shadow and liner brush. The packaging is the classic BB black lacquer casing, with a fresh pink inset inside surrounding the pans (see the BB stock picture I uploaded for reference). It's no real secret, but I'll state it nevertheless - IMO Bobbi Brown does Nudes like no one else. Hands down. You just cannot go wrong with her natural, beautiful shades of beige, grey and brown if you are looking for subtle enhancement to bring out your beauty. The result is quite the opposite of noticeable and flashy - just classy. This palette has two matte and four shimmery shades to create a variety of looks. It does not contain a base color and the liner color is exclusive to this palette, the Cocoa Berry Shimmerwash, a beautiful deep plum which can also be used lightly in the crease. I am very light skinned, and the typical palette liner shades such as Espresso or Caviar I can only use for lining - which I rarely do with powders, because I prefer the staying power of BB's gel liners. I also like the dual ended eye shadow/eye liner brush very much, as it has an angled head which makes it versatile for placing the shadow onto the lid as well as blending into the crease. Overall: Although I already own the Shimmerwash Nudes and Stonewashed Nudes Palettes I was drawn to this new offering. Chino is a unique taupe that is a repromote, on the cooler side, similar to Cement but deeper in tone, so it is perfect for my NW15 complexion. The other matte shade is Stone which is a neutral medium brown. The shimmers are neutral to slightly warm but not overly so. I find all shadows in this palette to be very high quality, soft and blendable, buildable color. This should make the color selection in this palette suitable for a wide range of skin tones.

Fragrances -Burberry - Body
julia178 12/16/2011 12:12:00 AM
Great ad campaign, beautiful sleek bottle, although I can see that despite being pretty the bottle is not overly practical to use. This is unfortunately where the good aspects end for me. The juice itself is a huge disappointment. To me, this smells really off: artificial, thin, generic. It has no direction, no cohesiveness whatsoever. Will not purchase.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - cream lip color twilight
julia178 12/10/2011 5:22:00 PM
Twilight Creamy Lip Color is my favorite of the line of creamy shades: - neutral pinkish brown with subtle shimmer - creamy comfortable texture - versatile for day or night looks Unfortunately, this is another winner from BB that has been discontinued :( Does anyone from that company ever read the reviews before discontinuing items like this that are generally liked? I will stock up as long as Twilight is available at the counters.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Steel
julia178 12/6/2011 11:55:00 PM
Shade description: The perfect soft neutral grey with a hint of brown. No red tones, no blue. Medium deepness, just fabulous. I have cool toned light skin (MAC NW15) and having a hard time finding shades that define well without looking harsh and this fits the bill just perfectly. This looks natural and can be built up easily for a more dramatic effect. Overall: Staying power is great without a base, no creasing, and especially the matte long-wear eye shadows are simply sublime. Since it disappeared from their site I did a live chat at BobbiBrown.com and I just learned that this shade has been discontinued. Go figure. I will look at local Bobbi Brown counters for remaining product and stock up.

Fragrances -Prada - Candy EDP
julia178 8/25/2011 4:39:00 AM
Prada Candy comes in a beautiful bottle, I uploaded a photo, the bottle design really is quite unique and pretty. I also like the fragrance very much, the Benzoin opening, the caramel-vanilla. In my opinion Prada Candy is much more elegant and more refined than Serge Lutens' Un Bois Vanille with which it shares the caramel and vanilla notes. If only it had a little more staying power. Hence the four points, it is a skin scent, almost gone within an hour. I really like Candy, and hope for Prada to come out with a perfume version and a body cream to layer this with.

Crème -Bobbi Brown - moisturizing cream compact
julia178 7/18/2011 1:54:00 PM
For reference: Dry skin, light skin tone, small pores, cool complexion MAC NW15. Shades used: Alabaster and Porcelain. Texture: Greasy and yet hard to blend, sits on my skin like a mask. Color match: ok, the Alabaster was a tad too light for my winter skin, the Porcelain a tad too yellow. Usually Porcelain is a good match for me in Bobbi Brown. Packaging: Very nice black lacquered compact with mirror, Bobbi Brown logo on lid. Overall: Disappointing texture, just as the majority of the reviewers have stated. In the meantime I tried the newer Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Foundation SPF25 in Porcelain, and I like it much better! This I will definitely not use again, nor repurchase.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer wash eyeshadow in Bronze
julia178 6/14/2011 11:22:00 AM
Another great shade in BB's shimmerwash formula: Bronze Shimmerwash is a medium toned, neutral bronze with brown undertones, and as some reviewers have noted, a hint of olive. Very complex and pretty and since it is neutral it can be worn by many different skin tones and eye colors. Unfortunately, Bronze is another example of great versatile shades that have been discontinued! Recently Rock and Ash Shimmerwash were taken out, and now Bronze. Too bad, Bronze would have been a definite repurchase for me.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Glitter Lip Gloss - Gold
julia178 5/21/2011 7:34:00 AM
Admittedly I was hesitant to try this because a "glitter" look is not what I usually would go for. That said, the BB Glitter glosses are surprisingly nice! Expect some elegant soft shimmer, no chunky garish glitter. BB Gold Glitter gives me a wonderful nude look, it wears extremely well. Pleasant vanilla taste, long lasting, and natural looking. I also have the Bare and Nude Glitter glosses, and I like all of them. Would definitely repurchase. Price: $20.

Lip Treatments -Bobbi Brown - Lip Balm SPF 15
julia178 5/20/2011 6:43:00 AM
Product: Very nice quality balm, leaves my lips pampered, non sticky but pleasant feeling. Packaging: Although the silver tin is kind of cute I would really like this much better if it came in stick form, in a tube. Overall: The balm has SPF 15 which I appreciate, but that makes it a product specifically for daytime use - which means I have to stick my fingers into the tin to apply - or take a brush which I feel is somewhat cumbersome. Not a great concept. Otherwise a perfect product which deserves 5 stars in my book, but the packaging only gets a 2 from me. Price: $17, which sounds a lot for lip balm, but the product lasts quite a while.

Shade: Medium soft shimmery plum-brown, sheer. Consistency: Shiny soft feel, comfortable on lips, non sticky. Overall: Looks polished on my pigmented lips, the shimmer is very elegant. I need to reapply this frequently but that comes with the sheer, soft formula, Packaging: Sleek black metal tube, Chanel logo on tube cap. Retails for $32.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco Shine #67 DEAUVILLE
julia178 5/13/2011 3:50:00 AM
Shade: Neutral soft pinky brown, sheer, a pretty MLBB shade on my pigmented lips. Consistency: Soft, and shiny but not greasy. Comfortable feeling. Packaging: Sleek black metal tube, Chanel logo on cap top. Overall: Nice everyday shade, looks polished. Staying power is subpar, but that is to be expected for a sheer, glossy formula. I don't mind reapplying, so it is ok for me. Retails for $32.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Rock (Shimmerwash) [DISCONTINUED]
julia178 5/9/2011 3:45:00 PM
As others have noted, this is the perfect neutral greyish silver. I'd like to add that this shade is also perfect on my cooler toned grey green eyes. Rock has a wonderful smooth silky finish, it blends like a dream and I would use this forever. Unfortunately, I learnt at the Bobbi Brown counter that this has been discontinued. I am in disbelief once again who makes these decisions because there is nothing quite like this available with Bobbi Brown or any other line, let alone in this superb quality. Same was true for Bobbi Brown's Flint matte eye shadow and her Bronze Shimmer Eyeliner, all of those are unique shades. Otherwise, I would most definitely repurchase as this is has been a staple color for me.

Treatments (Eye) -La Mer - Eye Concentrate
julia178 4/18/2011 11:27:00 AM
Not my cup of tea: - Delivers only moderate hydration - No noticeable smoothing effect on fine lines - Comes in a jar, which I find not ideal for eye products - Stings like crazy if it gets into the eye which makes me wonder - Prohibitively expensive Verdict: IMO There are much better alternatives out there for a fraction of the price.
