Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

I bought this cause my friend swore by it (she was into MAC ones but gave those up for this one) and I was VERY disappointed. Totally gave me raccoon eyes! And it was clumpy and smudgy! Total waste of money. Not special at all.

I don't use this product anymore because it was becoming very costly for me. But I decided to try it because after college I suddenly started breaking out a lot on my cheeks and chin. I never had an acne problem at all, and I just found it weird that suddenly I was having these breakouts! I found that this stuff really did work for me. I used it twice a day (morning and night) and it made a difference. Of course, you have to use it religiously for it to work. That's a little annoying but once u get into a routine it's fine. HOWEVER...this stuff TOTALLY bleached out the towels I used to dry my face afterwards! I ruined a few of my mother's washcloths and towels without realizing! So I just kept using those over and over since they were already ruined. Be VERY careful!

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque

I love this mask. I tried it on my own a couple years ago without even knowing how popular it really was. I just love mudd masks, but sometimes they can be really harsh and cause my eyes to burn and tear up while using them. But this one doesn't do that at all! I usually put this mask on twice a week before going into the shower for easy rinsing. It hasn't had any bad effects on my skin at all, but yes I do find that I have to use a moisturizer after wards. But even plain hot water dries my skin, so I don't consider that a big deal. I RARELY breakout anymore (though I am on "the pill" so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it..) so I recommend you at least TRY this product. It's not pricey at all and it's fun to use!

Lip Treatments -MAC - Hello Kitty -- Pink Fish Tinted Lip Conditioner
rated 3 of 5

This was my first MAC lip conditioner so I was expecting big things from it, especially considering all the hype this particular product is getting. The scent is nicely light and sweet. The color is very pretty as well. The packaging is adorable! I find that it doesn't last on my lips that long at all. I put it on over my Burt's Bees clear lip shimmer and it looks pretty for about a half hour, then it's gone! Is that how these lip conditioners are? For all the money you pay it should last longer than that without much effort. I definitely would not buy this again, but I do plan to use up what I have. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Lancome Juicy Tubes

I like these because they last a long time on my lips even if I lick them (which I tend to do a lot I guess...). I also like the slight bit of a color that some of them give me. Some of the flavors are def yummy! They definitely make your lips SUPER glossy and slick, but... They are VERY sticky. My hair always gets stuck to my lips if it's down and a breeze blows outside. Annoying, but bareable. Also, some of the colors don't show up at all. Might as well be clear lipgloss! If you really want to try them, I suggest a gift set of some kind where you can try a whole bunch of shades for nearly the same price you'd pay for ONE tube.

This is such a pretty shimmery light brown-peachy color! It's great for everyday wear for work, and I've also used it as a highlighter sometimes. I'd definitely buy this again once I run out!

Misc Beauty Tools -MAC - Brush Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
jrc82 3/4/2009 11:02:00 PM

This stuff works great for cleaning brushes. I especially like that it's not insanely expensive, considering it's MAC. But honestly, I'm probably just going to make my own cleaning solution and use the empty bottle when I'm done with it. I think homemade solutions work just as well, and you save money in the long run. My only big complain is that it's not a spray! The dispenser cap is very annoying and I find that you waste a lot of the cleanser when you use it that way. All of this stuff dumps out and soaks your paper towel when you didn't want that much in the first place.

Skincare - Face -MAC - Fix+

I gave into the hype and multiple RAVE reviews I kept seeing on the YouTube makeup channels and tried this stuff. I got this a few weeks ago and I've used it on a daily basis ever since. I decided to fork over the $17 for this stuff because of all the uses I heard that it has. It works as a refresher spray, it "wakes up" your skin, it soothes sun burn, it "sets" your make up, it gets rid of that "powdery" look that makeup can give you, you can use it has a mixing medium, etc. I've been using it mainly to "set" my make up and give me that "dewey" look. I use loose powder to set my makeup and I hate that caked-on finish I get sometimes, so this stuff does the trick for that. I like how it dries quickly and doesn't make your makeup run. HOWEVER...I have not tried this with mascara that is NOT WATERPROOF (I have a feeling it would make it run...). Otherwise my blush, eyeshadow, foundation, etc has stayed in tact after spraying this stuff on. People rave about the scent of this thing and honestly, I don't see why. I hardly smell anything! It is quite refreshing though! It's not a bad product by any means, but I feel as if there are probably cheaper products out there that do the same thing. I most likely will not be purchasing it again, but I don't regret doing so.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Eyeshadow Brush
rated 3 of 5
jrc82 3/4/2009 10:38:00 PM

This brush is pretty good for applying eyeshadow. My only gripe would be that it's a bit too big to get much precision when you're trying to do detailed looks. If you're just looking to put color on your lid, it's works fine. Heck, it only cost $1! You can't really argue with that. It does the job and it certainly doesn't look or feel like a cheap crappy brush at all. I recommend this to everyone. I may even purchase a few back ups!

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Duo Fiber Stippling Brush
rated 2 of 5
jrc82 3/4/2009 10:26:00 PM

It's hard to review this brush because it's not that great, but if you're willing to put up with some annoyances, then it's fine for the $$ you paid for it. What I like about it: 1) It does the job. I use it for my foundation every morning and it applies it and blends it fine. It feels fine on my skin. 2) It's a cheap alternative to the MAC 187. Much cheaper. If you want a stippling brush and do not want to pay more than $10, this is the brush for you. Strictly from a financial angle, it's great. What I don't like about it: 1) It sheds. A LOT. This is probably the deal breaker for most people when it comes to brushes, especially stippling ones since getting brush bristles stuck to your skin is VERY annoying while applying your liquid makeup. However, having to pick off the hairs is worth the $$ I saved from having to buy the MAC 187. It's not THAT bad...but it happens every time I use it. So if shedding is a deal breaker for you, DO NOT GET THIS BRUSH! 2) When I used my MAC brush cleaner on it, it made the black dye run a bit into the white bristle tips. Granted I did soak the tip of the brush in the cleaner for a minute or so, and maybe I shouldn't have done that? But still, that annoyed me. It doesn't affect the use, but from the physical standpoint it makes it look cheap. So bottomline, if you aren't super picky about your brushes and you want a really cheap alternative to the MAC 187, this is a good buy for you.

Mascara -Kiss Me - Kiss Me Mascara
rated 4 of 5
jrc82 3/4/2009 9:45:00 PM

This mascara is great! The best way to describe this product is "a rubber glove for eyelashes". The main thing I look for in a mascara is that it won't give me raccoon eyes, and this stuff delivers BIG TIME in that department. I can rub my eye and the stuff won't budge. I can wear it all day at work and all night and NO raccoon eyes at all! Also, the removal is great because there's no smudging! I *hate* it when I remove my mascara at night and then the next morning I wake up with raccoon eyes because I didn't remove it well enough. Not so with Blinc! Wet wash cloth (tissue works too) and just some gentle massaging gets the "tubes" to come off. The first time i did it it looked kind of freaky cause they look like your actual eyelashes are coming out, but of course that's not the case. =) All this raving, and I didn't give it a perfect rating? Here's why: 1) It's pricey. I bought mine at Sephora for $25. I think it's worth it for those who like to wear mascara everyday though. 2) It won't give you a lot of volume or length. Of course, this is sort of subjective. When I wear it, you can tell I have mascara on and it looks nice. It gives an enhanced natural look. Perfect for work. To sum it up, if you are looking for a mascara that's great for everyday use and is durable and does NOT give you raccoon eyes, this is totally worth the price!
