Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - The Righteous Butter
jellybabe23 4/10/2012 11:01:00 PM
When I use this body butter, I don't need to wear perfume. It is literally that strong. But it's a nice, wonderful floral scent that smells like Miss Dior Cherie EDT, so if you like that scent, the righteous butter is right for you! It's very silky and moisturizing and I've used it sparingly because I don't want to run out of it too quickly. If money were not an issue, I would go through tubs of this like no body's business! But alas, It's wonderful and great for any time of the year.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
jellybabe23 4/10/2012 10:56:00 PM
I call this Maybelline Death mousse. I used this 3 years ago for a good semester because I needed something for shows and this was the best cake I could find for my face. It was so fake looking that from far away you can see my foundation caked on. Even the best shade, sun beige or something was so cakey. It stayed on for a good 3 hours then my face looked sooo oily afterwards. Never again will I purchase.

Cleansers -Simple - Kind to Skin Refreshing Wash Gel
jellybabe23 3/29/2012 3:45:00 AM
I've been sticking to sensitive skin facial washes lately and this one is what I've been using recently. There's no scent, which I love and the gel is a bit more runny than the normal gel cleanser. A reviewer below me had said it felt like "slime" all over your face and that is exactly what it feels like, no joke. But it does its job and is very gentle. It doesn't dry my skin out, so I'd recommend it to anyone trying to clear acne. As a side note, I've tried many acne washes as a teenager, and I realized what havoc its done to my skin. When I switched to products for sensitive skin, my acne cleared up. EDIT: This product gave me more breakouts. I think it is due to the fact that it is so hard to wash off. I couldn;t get over how it feels like slime on my face. Left a bit of a residue :( Sadly, I will not repurchase or recommend. Will stick to my Clean and Clear sensitive skin foaming facial.

Cleansers -Derma E - Glycolic Facial Cleanser with Marine Plant Extracts
jellybabe23 3/29/2012 3:40:00 AM
I stuck to a really good skin care regime that consisted of simple products. Once my skin became comfortable with those products, I decided to introduce this glycolic cleanser into my routine because I've heard many good things about glycol cleanser and how it can micro-exfoliate without the harshness of a scrub. I tried this product for 2 days and have gotten the worst pimples thus far. I'm not even near that time of the month, and my skin is already wreaking havoc! So I know it was this product. For something worst $12 and with simple, quality ingredients, I expect so much from this product. I guess my skin didn't cooperate with something in it...oh well. I returned it.

Cleansers -Olay - Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash
jellybabe23 3/29/2012 3:36:00 AM
Nice, simple cleanser that doesn't dry my skin out. I have sensitive, acne-proned skin that can easily be dry esp. around the nose and mouth area and the last thing I want to do it irritate it. It foams really nicely and doesn't dry my skin out. I use it in conjunction with the Olay sensitive skin spy 15 lotion, and my skin feel very comfortable. Overall, it does its job. Great for sensitive skin.

Crème -Maybelline - Dream Smooth Mousse
jellybabe23 3/7/2012 2:57:00 AM
I read so many reviews before purchasing this product. I really wanted to try a cream foundation and this one immediately caught my eye. When I was in Target, I looked at MUA and tried reading reviews on people with similar shades. I'm generally an NC40-42 but I can wear a neutral, NW35. I was eyeing the 240 Natural beige and Buff(don't know the #), which many NC40 girls seem to be wearing, but I didn't want to settle until it was the right match. When I was in Walmart, people seemed to have created their own "testers" lol, so I checked the shades out and actually, Buff was pretty light, almost like an NC37 range. I checked Pure Beige, which is suppose to be lighter than Buff and it was a very good match. In my opinion, it would match an NW35 perfectly. I tried it on the back of my hand and it blended so smoothly. I held the color against my face and it matched pretty well! When I came home, I took off my makeup and tried it. The coverage it about medium, but you can definitely build it. I wore it the entire day and it looked so wonderful! It can look a bit oily looking, but it's meant to be a satin type of finish. My application: I use the sponge that comes with it, I blend the product in and on areas I need more coverage, I press the product onto those areas for maximum coverage. My skin looked flawless, and my indentations from my acne scars were minimized greatly. Overall, it's a wonderful product and I would definitely recommend this! EDIT: I recently bought 255 Natural Buff and it's very similar to Pure beige, except more yellow-toned. It would suit an NC40-42 much better than pure beige. I'd say pure beige is NW35 (because of the subtle pink tones)

Moisturizers -Boots - Botanics Face Renewal Cream SPF 15
jellybabe23 2/28/2012 3:45:00 AM
I love this product! There's AHA in it and it doesn't sting my face at all! I only apply a small amount because too much can leave my skin looking super oily. I've used it for 2 weeks straight now and have not had any problems with it. My acne has decreased and the overall texture of my skin is looking brighter. Not a fan of the jar packaging, but I'm not complaining. I just shake it up and take whatever is in the cap.

Moisturizers -Boots - Botanics Organic Face Super Balm
jellybabe23 2/28/2012 3:42:00 AM
This product comes in a tiny jar, but I generally use a q-tip to remove some product to place on the back of my hand and warm it up with my fingers. It feels grainy, but as you warm it up, it turns into an oily, slippery texture. Since it is still technically winter, I wanted something that would hydrate the flakes on my skin. The first night I used this, I applied a thin layer on those spots (i.e. around my nose, on flaking blemishes, etc). The oil actually soaked into my skin after a few hours, and some of the spots did not really hydrate properly. I applied more product and it left my skin pretty distinctly oily, so I kept it only for nighttime use. I don't really reach for this product much, but I use it near the eye area and around my nose and mouth. It actually hydrates my eye area really well, so I give it rating of 4.

Moisturizers -Boots - Botanics Complexion Refining Light Night Cream
jellybabe23 2/28/2012 3:37:00 AM
I've switched my skincare line to all Boots products because I wanted something organic without harsh ingredients on my oily, acne-proned skin. This light night cream is great. It isn't heavy and it contains BHA, which treats my acne while allowing it to stay hydrated. I stopped a month ago trying to dry out my pimples and started to really care for my skin by removing my makeup with my clarisonic and fully moisturizing it with this night cream. It doesn't feel heavy so I actually use a lot of this product every night. I wake up to softer, more nourished skin and my acne has decreased over the course of two weeks. I'm not a fan of the jar packaging, but there is a ton of product in it. I shake it up and use whatever is left in the cap and apply it over my entire face. Wonderful product!

Cleansers -Boots - Botanics Moisturising Deep Clean Foam
jellybabe23 2/28/2012 3:31:00 AM
I have sensitive, acne-proned skin and this cleanser is a very soothing, creamy, but foamy cleanser. I use it in conjunction with my clarisonic mia and it doesn't irritate my skin at all. It doesn't leave my skin dry and it has a light, floral scent. Overall, it's a nice, basic cleanser.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Albolene cleanser
jellybabe23 2/22/2012 3:09:00 AM
About 3 weeks ago, I had a chemical burn/reaction on my face from using a new skincare line. I woke up to my face red and itchy, and hard to the touch. It felt like several bees have stung my face. It hurt so bad nothing, not even my most sensitive facial cleansers were able to calm my skin. For several hours, I tried many things: honey (because its supposedly good for burns), oatmeal (because its antimicrobial and very gentle) but nothing worked to truly calm my skin down. Then I researched what would work for chemical burns on the skin. Someone posted that paraffin is great for calming redness and burns. I have both Aquaphor and Albolene for my ezcema, but only Albolene has paraffin in it. So I put it on my face and boy, did it feel great. Though it felt like I was rubbing oil all over it, it instantly calmed my skin down and I stayed home and slathered it all over my face. I even slept with the oily product, not caring what it would do to my pillow. After 2-3 days my face was slowly peeling and coming back to normal. Though I rarely use this product on a daily basis, I come back to it when my skin it extremely dry. I use it as a moisturizer when I'm very dry, even though I have acne-proned skin and it doesn't break me out. One of the best uses of this product is actually adding it onto the St. Ives scrub. Usually that scrub it very harsh on my face and leaves me very dry rinsing. When I apply a scoop of Albolene along with the scrub, my face is left smooth and hydrated and so far it's done wonders for my dry, yet acneic skin. I paid about $12.99 at Rite Aid but it's found in many drugstores. It is truly a great product with many uses, and it has very minimal ingredients. I would recommend this to just about anyone!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe
jellybabe23 2/2/2012 11:49:00 PM
Im an NC42 and this cream eyeshadow looks so beautiful! It's a purplish grey color that is very work-appropriate. I use the product by itself and a little goes a long way. I apply majority of the pigment to the lids and gently blend upward. It gives me a soft smokey eye effect without the hassle of layering on so many different eye shadows. When I'm in a hurry, this product makes me look more "put-together."

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
jellybabe23 2/2/2012 11:44:00 PM
I'm an NC 40-42 and I have this in NC35 and NC42. I use both because in the summer, I use NC42 and in the winter I use NC35. This time around, I am in between shades and MAC does not want to create an NC40 shade, so I resort to buying both. I slide both concealers and with a spatula, swap half the shade onto the other pot. So both pots have NC35 and 42 in them. I carry one in my purse for convenience and have one at home. I love that the finish is so natural looking. It doesn't dry too matte, and it has no sparkles. It's extremely easy to blend and covers my reddish-purplish blemish spots very well! I will buy forever and ever. I really hope MAC can make an NC40 shade!

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation
jellybabe23 2/2/2012 11:10:00 PM
Im an NC 40 at the moment, but an NC42 in the summer, so I wear this in Sun Beige. It looked the most yellow-toned out of the selection, which is why I purchased it. The shade itself is a very good match. I'm used to using more heavier coverage foundations because of all the acne scarring I have, so I was surprised as to how sheer this product was. I needed at least two layers to subdue most of the redness on my face, so the coverage it very light. When dispensed, I applied the product with my hands and started working it into my skin. It felt very watery and dried extremely quickly. When I tried adding another layer, it was difficult to blend. So instead of rubbing, I started patting the product into my skin to work a second layer on. The finish, however was very nice. It was matte, but very natural looking. Although it did not cover my acne marks, my skin tone looked more even in general. So I would probably use this when running errands, or for days I don't want to put much makeup. It doesn't feel heavy or waxy on my face, so I think it would be good for people with oily skin because it controlled my oil very well. Those who want more coverage will probably not like this product because it is almost impossible to layer on. So if you have perfect skin, or just plain oily skin, this foundation might be great for you! Edit (3/6/2012): I returned it. It was too watery for me. Though it gives a nice light coverage, it took time to blend in, and I felt it wasn't worth the money. Thank goodness Target allowed me to return it with the receipt!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Discovery Mascara
jellybabe23 1/8/2012 12:26:00 AM
This is a great mascara to reach every lash. but it smudges like crazy! I have the waterproof one and test drove it while at work for 8 hours and by lunch time, I had a stripe of black... not acceptable for a waterproof mascara!
