This product is okay, but it doesn't do that much for my hair. It's very watery and if I put it in when my hair is wet it sort of just dissapears into my hair. I don't think it makes my curls last better either, although it maybe gives them a tad more definition.

I've had this for several (5?) years and I still have half of it left. I use it every now and then but it honestly doesn't do that much for my hair. I've had everything from 2-15 inches long hair in the period I've owned it, and I've never really liked it. It's good at weighing the hair down, but it gives it a sticky (which I don't like when my hair is long) and greasy (which is bad when my hair is short) feel. And I really don't like the packaging, mine is in a 40ml tin, it's not very hygienic.

I loved this product about six years ago. My hair had gotten fried after an accident with Feria dyi hair-color. (I thought it was as bad as it could get, but was proven wrong a while back when my hair got much, much worse).

When my hair was in that shape (badly damaged, but only damaged because of one bad product, my ends weren't splitting although the texture of my hair was very altered, and it was very dry, short) it made a big difference. My hair felt soft, people commented on how shiny my hair looked after using it.

Now however it's still okay, but not nearly enough. First of all it's a lightweight product. It says [translated from swedish:] for coarse hair that has gotten dry and brittle. This only makes sense for the product if by coarse they mean fine. It's a quite thin product. With my hair as dry as it is now I pretty much need a quarter of the bottle to moisturize it. On the bottle it also says it makes the hair easy to comb trough which is just not true if you actually have coarse hair. I imagine this would be a great product for "normal" hair as it doesn't weigh it down much but still really moisturize. However, for reallyt thick, coarse and dry hair it's just not a hit.

Treatments -Redken - Extreme Anti Snap OLD FORMULA see 143469 for new [REFORMULATED]

My bottle is almost finished and I'm definitely buying more. I have no real idea if it actually prevents split ends or not. When I started using it a year ago pretty much all my ends were split, for the first time in my life -- even though my hair has been damaged before I have never had problems with split ends. Although my ends are still splitting it's not happening at the same rate it did back then. It is however hard to tell if this is because of anti-snap or if it's because the parts of my hair that is at the ends now aren't as damaged since it hasn't been bleached as many times as the hair that was at my ends a year ago.

The reason I give it five lippies is because I notice a big difference between when I use it and not. I was on vacation for a week last year and didn't bring anti-snap because I dind't want my hair-care products to take up all my luggage. I used Redken smooth down shampoo, conditioner and heatglide serum, but not having anti-snap made a huge difference still (my hair felt limp). A girl who lived there had some anti-snap and I borrowed it, and my hair's texture really improved compared to when I wasn't using it. It isnt' anywhere near as lasting as Heatglide (nothing is) but I've used it several times per week (along with quite a few other products) for a year and my bottle still has almost an inch left in the bottom.

I love the fact that it's in a tube and it really makes my hair super-soft. I doesn't remove frizz, and it doesn't make my hair LOOK fixed and healthy (the way Smooth Down Butter Treat does) but it makes it FEEL soft and healthy like nothing else. Because it does what I says it will I give it five lippies (even though it doesn't give me everything I want from a treatmen -- with that in mind it is a bit pricy).

Honestly I'm not entierly sure of what grade to give it. It's entirely possible that it's a great product, but I find it a bit difficult to use. The spray-bottle and the the watery consistence makes it difficult to apply in wet hair. I've only used it four or five times and Iv'e used up more than a third of the bottle. I have no idea of whether it actually strengthens the hair or not because I gave up on using it long-term. at the very least it doesn't seem to harm my hair. And I did feel that my hair was in even better shape when I followed it with Nexxus Keraphix compared to when I only use Nexxus Keraphix. It's not an overnight miracle-cure (which I was hoping for), but it does seem to have some effect. I'm going to try using it before next time I color my hair and se if it helps the color stick on my highlights. UPDATE: this really does NOTHING for me (except make my hair even dryer). Removed one lippy.

Shampoo -Redken - Hair Cleansing Cream
rated 4 of 5

I use this to remove build-up every now and then (I don't use it that often, I tend to alternate between different regular shampoos when I can, but when I do use it I really need it), and also if I for some reason have super-greasy hair (in that case it's excellent, it really lathers). On it's own I find it entirely too drying for my hair, even if I condition after my roots that I don't condtion feel dry and coarse. But if I use this first and rinse it out without combing through my hair, and then use my regular hydrating shampoo, it really does what it's supposed to. It also smells nice.

While I really like the product, I would probably not repurchase, at least not right away. I would see if I could find a cheaper (redken is quite expensive where I live) clairifying shampoo that isn't as drying.

Shampoo -Redken - Smooth Down
rated 5 of 5
halogens 9/19/2005 1:23:00 PM

I have repurchased this product after first buying the small bottle, I bought the 33oz bottle this spring. I think I have about half of it left after six months of use, although I tend to use more of it than I need to and I alternate it with treatments.

The first time I bought it this (both shampoo and conditioner) was almost a miracle cure. I could comb through my hair easily, as opposed to spending fifteen minutes on it, it really lessened the frizz. It's still a good choice for me, but after chopping off 3-4 inches I don't need it as much -- I can use other lighter products that don't leave as much build-up as well. However, it's still one of the few series of products that minimizes the frizz without making my hair look greasy.

Specifically for the shampoo: It can be a bit heavy sometimes, which is good when you'r hair really need to be weighed down, but not as good for getting your hair to look clean. It leaves quite a lot of build-up. I will continue using this shampoo, but now that my hair isn't as extremely damaged as it was a year ago it has some negative effects that it didn't have when my hair was completely fried all the way from the roots to the ends. Now that my roots aren't as dry you can really notice the build up (the fact that it's packed with silicones is very noticable) if I don't use a clairifying shampoo every now and then.

I gave it five lippies because it really makes my hair soft, shiny and frizz-free (at least more than any other product). It doesn't seem to really nourish the hair, but I donät think it promises to either. I will say that I was tempted to give it only four lippies because these days I feel I get a just as good effect (without the build-up) if I use Matrix Hydrating Shampoo with the Smooth down conditioner.

My hair was fried down to the roots when I bought this (after a hairdresser ruined my already damaged hair). I couldn't chop it all off so this was really a lifesaver. I have long and very thick hair that is difficult to comb through (and style without frizz) even when it's healthy. This really helped -- but it wasn't really a miracle. For example, it made it possible to style away the frizz with a flatiron, but not just with a hairdryer.

Styling Products -Redken - Smooth Down Heat Glide ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
halogens 9/19/2005 1:02:00 PM

On my hair this product is at its best when used in two ways:
* when I want my hair to be flatironed so that it's really straight (almost wet-looking, but not really). In that case I put it on every section of my hair right before I flatiron that section. In this case (used in quite large amounts) it really weighs my hair down, which is a hard thing to do because it's so thick and dry.
*Together with a few other products (most importantly Anti-snap and Straight from Redken) when I flatiron my hair. It really balances out the other products well on my hair. I mix them all together before applying. It really feels like this product protects the hair from the heat, although I can't guarantee that it does.

On my sister however, who has much softer, thinner and healthier hair, it makes the hair so soft and shiny. I'm really looking forward to using this product when my hair is healthy again. Best thing about it: it's super lasting -- I've used it a few times a week for a year and I still have two thirds of the bottle left -- so it's relly worth the price. (Can be compared to the lighter Oleo-relax serum from Kerastase that just seems to dissapear. I also like Heat Glides packaging better, it's much more solid, doesn't leak etc.)

Treatments -Redken - Smooth Down Butter Treat [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
halogens 9/19/2005 12:51:00 PM

This is one of those rare products that make people ask me if I've cut my hair, because it doesn't look damaged anymore. I have really thick, distressed and long hair. This makes it really soft and make my curls more together if that makes any sense (as opposed to one big stringy, frizzy and pouffy mess).

It makes my hair feel less dry, easier to comb through, and really makes it shine. I don't use it that often however, mostly because I rotate between different treatments. It is quite heavy (butter is a good description, I wouldn't use it if my curls and ends didn't really need to be weighed down), but not to heavy if your hair is very thick and very dry.

Small negatives: while it makes my hair look very good, I'm not sure it's very fortifying or hydrating long term. It's almost like a styling product in that sense - while it butters the hair up, it doesn't really fix it. And it leaves build up if you use it a lot. I have the european can-packaging of this product (and the american tube-packaging of All soft Heavy cream), and if I repurchase it will definately be as a tube.

I gave it five lippies because I feel it really does what it promises.

Styling Products -Redken - Straight

Love this product for flatironing (wich I do a lot). It makes my hair a lot less fluffy if I leave it in when my hair is drying on it's own, which is also a plus. You don't need to use a lot of it, it glides onto the hair easily. Best part: is not greasy at all. I use a lot of serums and treatments to moisturize my dry hair and I don't need more of the same. I feel like it makes my hair EASIER to flatiron, it glides through my hair smoother somehow. I've also noticed that it makes my hair less likely to start to curl if it's humid outside.

Out of the straightening balms/creams/lotions I've tried it's definitely the best. Big plus that it's not at all sticky, and that it doesn't feel like a STYLING product in the hair (don't know how to describe it but when I put on dry hair, it feels more like conditioner feels on wet hair.) You don't need much product for a good result.

Treatments -Redken - All Soft Addictive Hair Transformer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
halogens 9/19/2005 12:35:00 PM

First off I use this as a leave-in, and I have been using it for about a year. My main reason for giving it five lippies is the fact that it does what it says it will: it softens dry hair. My hair is dry for a lot of reasons, both natural (curly hair is more dry than straight) and because my hair is damaged from chemical treatments.

For a short period of time I used this on it's own in my hair, and I have to say I was quite pleased with the results -- even though I missed the effect some other products have on my hair. The way I use it now is I take one spray of this, one squirt of Redken Heat Glide, Anti-snap, Kerastase Oleo-relax serum, mix it all together and distribute it through my hair before blowdrying. If I flatiron or style my hair I then use a number of other products to round it out (or more of some in the mix), but the mix I mention above is my base that I always use. Out of these products Addictive Hair Transformer is the one I feel adds the moist and softness to my completely dry hair -- although it does nothing for texture (unless you use too much, and then not in a good way).

My only complaint is that if you use too much, or use it close to the roots, it leaves the hair a bit greasy. Advantages is that it

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head Headrush Shine Adrenaline
rated 5 of 5
halogens 9/19/2005 12:15:00 PM

I have very worn hair. It's long, it's sort of curly, it's dry, I flatiron a lot, it's been chemically treated to a ridiculous extent (I dyed my hair black for a few years, and then decided to bleach it off, on top of that an inexperienced hairdresser left too large highlights in for too long on my already fried hair). Because of this my hair gets frizzy very easily.

Headrush does add some shine, although I find it did moreso back when my hair was dark. The main thing it does for me however is when I use it after I've flatironed my hair. If I use quite a lot of Headrush on my ends and a bit less in the rest of my hair it manages to do something that serums and all the rest doesn't (serums makes the hair greasy, headrush is much drier, although at first it gives the hair a bit of a "wet" look if you use a lot): it makes my hair look NATURALLY straight and not at all frizzy in the ends. I only get this effect when I flatiron my hair before using it.

A negative thing is that it's quite drying. I can't use it when my hair is left curly because it makes my hair knotty. On the plus-side, it's really easy to apply evenly.

Treatments -Kerastase - Oleo-Relax Serum
rated 4 of 5
halogens 9/19/2005 12:03:00 PM

I really like the serum, but it's not a very SPECIAL serum. I've tried a lot of serums and this is a good one.

It's pretty greasy, but in a good way. It feels really smooth on your fingers, as well as in your hair. It's lighter than Redken's Heat Glide (and doesn't last as long). The upside of it being light is that it doesn't weigh my hair down, even when I use a lot.

The only reason I'm not giving it five lippies is the price (it wouldn't be a problem if it didn't run out very quickly, which it does) and the packaging (it gives pretty large squirts of serum at a time, and my bottle leaks when it lies down - wich is how most of my bottle was wasted).

I will however definitely repurchase.
