Eye Primer -Essence - I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 10/16/2012 3:09:00 PM

This product does not help with creasing with my oily eyelids; I still noticed creasing by noon. This product also grabs onto eye shadow and makes it very, very difficult to blend out. This product also did not intensify eye shadow color like UDPP or TFSI do. I love the low price and I love the applicator and the huge amount of product you get for the price. I just wish it worked on me. My all time fave for my oily lids continues to be TFSI.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - #521 - Fuschia w/ Blue Pearl
rated 5 of 5
glowing500 10/11/2012 3:34:00 PM

Would I buy this product again? Oh hellz YES!!! I would buy it again but I probably won't have to for the next five years since I bought a ton of this color when Wet n Wild was 40% off at either Ride Aid or CVS...can't remember which one. Fuchsia with Blue Pearl is a PERFECT name for this gorgeous lippie. The color is exactly as the name describes it, a gorgeous deep fuchsia color with blue undertones. I'm NW 15-20 in MAC so I'm pretty pale but I can pull off bright lips and his lippie is one of my all time faves. I used to work in a company where one of my male co-workers used to go bonkers every time I wore this color. Wear this one ladies when you want to be the office Femme Fatal or for when you go out on the prowl with your girl gang posse. They should change the name of this lippie to "Man Bait"....ha..ha... If you are pale and cool toned with fairly full lips you will OBSESS on this lippie...NO JOKE! This is lippie is very pigmented so you just need a swipe for the office and then you can really layer it on when you go out at night. Like all Wet n Wild lippies, this is a tad drying, so I layer lip balm on underneath. Please Wet n Wild, don't EVEN THINK ABOUT DISCONTINUEING THIS ONE!

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 10/3/2012 6:46:00 PM

Oh, how I so wanted to love this eyeliner. I'm a huge fan of Wet n Wild. I find that their products are kind of hit or miss, but that is true of most brands. I love Wet n Wild blush, eye shadow, nail polish and lipsticks and glosses. The quality is good and the price cannot be beat. I'm not sure why I have never tried this eyeliner before. I guess it's because I have super oily skin and almost EVERYTHING smudges on my under eye area. I'm really happy with L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof liquid eyeliner (the one with the blue cap) so no complaints there. That stuff rocks my socks off. Its relativity cheap and it does not smear or smudge on my oily eye area. It only comes in black or brown but I only buy brown since the black is a little harsh for my pale coloring. I was in CVS a couple of days ago and everything Wet n Wild was Buy-One-Get-One-Free. O.K...SCORE! I cannot pass up a sale like this one! I saw that this eyeliner comes in both black and brown. I bought brown since black is usually too harsh on me. I took it home and swiped in on my arm. I let it dry and then tried to smudge it with my finger. It stayed put! Yeah, good sign I thought. When I ran my arm under the sink to wash it off, it came off waaay to easily! Not a good sign for something that is supposed to be waterproof! Any Hoo...I wore it to work both today and yesterday and I did get some smudging under my eyes. Not a TON of smudging, but enough so I had to try to fix it during the day. This is a no-go for me and my oily under eye area. Somebody else who has dry or combo skin might love this liner however. The formula itself is thin and watery. The brown color that I purchased was not dark at all so I probably could have gotten the black and been happy with the color. This is not a liner that you could do dramatic eye looks with, but it’s a good everyday liner to wear to work. I just wish it would have worked for me.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Youth Dew
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 10/1/2012 1:30:00 PM

I've never bought this. Would I EVER buy this? Oh...HELLZ...NO! This stuff smells like old-lady-in-a-bottle. What are they talking about..."Youth Dew"? Just call it "OLD LADY FUNK" and call it a day! Whenever I am unfortunate enough to catch a whiff of this, I think of bent, stooped old ladies sitting around the retirement home. It smells like old fashioned hair powder (whatever that smells like) and just general "oldness"...ha...ha...WHATEVER THAT SMELLS LIKE. I guess I have never smelled "oldness" but I have come pretty dayam close when smelling Youth Dew. Years ago I worked a Clinique counter across from the Estee Lauder counter. Little old ladies used to love to come in and douse themselves with this rank smelling concoction. Ugh...I would get dizzy from the fumes. I just can't shake the "old ladies love Youth Dew" equation in my mind. Forever and ever, until the day I meet my maker, I will associate the scent of Youth Dew with people aged 80-plus. My grandma used to love this stuff. It lingered on her clothes, in her bedroom on ME when she bent to hug me when I was a kid. UGH! That horrid smell used to get on MY clothes too! My mom insisted on replenishing Grandma-ma's stash every Christmas and on her birthday. "Can't we buy Grams something else" we kids would whine...like how about something that does not smell like it died two weeks ago! "Now kids, you know how much Grams looooves her Youth Dew...don't be so selfish...this is for Grams....NOT FOR YOU....you little turds"! Errr...riiight...like couldn't we just tell Grams that they stopped making this shiat years ago????

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Glossaholic - Fairy
rated 5 of 5
glowing500 9/26/2012 6:56:00 PM

I'm totally loving this lip gloss! Fairy is a really pretty light pink color with a lot of sparkle and shine. It's not too sticky like MAC lipglass is. I never wear it alone; I always layer it over another color. It has a yummy vanilla taste and smell to it and it's not at all gritty. The applicator and tube are a little on the giant side but I kind of like the applicator. You don't have to keep dabbing your lips to apply it like you have to do with a tiny applicator. I would pick up more of these in a heartbeat. I will grab a few the next time I am in a Wal Mart since a trip to Wal Mart for me is not my idea of an enjoyable afternoon. Too many people all crowded into one space. It's too bad that Hard Candy is only available at Wal Mart but these are also available on the website for the faint of heart like moi who hate to venture into that place.

Liquid -BeneFit Cosmetics - "Hello Flawless!" Oxygen Wow
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 9/21/2012 11:41:00 AM

This is just not suited for oily skinned people. It also only provided light coverage. If you need more coverage or if you are oily skinned like moi, this will make you look like you smeared Crisco on you face. I put it on at 6:00 in the morning and by 9:00 I wanted to scream I looked so shiny, blotchy and greasy! I produce this kind of a look all by myself, I don't need to apply makeup to make my skin look greasy and shiny, my skin IS greasy and shiny already! I need makeup that mattifies and controls oil. This makeup is better suited to dry skinned people who need help getting their skin to look glowy. I'm really surprised at all of the good reviews, especially by people with oily skin. The girl at Sephora told me has oily skin and she just LOVES this and she was just sure that I was going to love it too. I should have just gotten a sample and tried it out before I bought. it. Color wise, I picked Ivory which has a yellow undertone. It was a good match to neutralize my pinky toned skin. Overall, this foundation is more like a tinted moisturizer as it provides very, very light coverage. I had MAJOR shine break through within a couple hours of wearing it. I don't feel that this is a good foundation for oily skinned people who need more than light coverage. This is going back to Sephora.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush - Peony
rated 5 of 5
glowing500 9/20/2012 7:33:00 PM

I love this blush! It's perfect for light skinned, pale peeps like moi. It's smooth and easy to blend. It does look scary bright in the pan but don't be afraid. You can make this work it you use a light hand. I bought this because one of my favorite bloggers Veronika of Veronkia's Blushing raved about it in her blog and on her You Tube channel. Veronika buys way more high end stuff than I do but I thought I would give it a go and return it if I didn't like it. I love the packaging, it's really modern looking. Maybelline copied this design and now uses the same black box concept for some of their products. I'm used to plastic Cover Girl, Maybelline and Wet n Wild packaging so the Bobbi Brown packaging is nice but why no mirror? For this price you should get a mirror. I went to Neiman's to buy this and yes, buying high end makeup is nice. It's nice to get some personal help and it's nice when they put your product into a Neiman's bag. Wow...I felt so awesome strolling around the mall with my Neiman's bag! Ha..ha..but not so awesome that I plan to make a habit of it. I only let myself buy a few high end items a year and then I keep them ONLY if I really love them. I don't want to get into a habit of buying expensive makeup! Splurging once in a while is fine but I don't plan to make a habit of purchasing $25.00 blushes. Do I think this is worth $25.00? Yes and no, but I'm a pretty frugal person. Somebody else might think $25.00 is chump change but I come from a place where I have worked since I was a teenager so I really, really, and I mean like REALLY hate to throw my hard earned money down the drain. Twenty five buckeroos for a blush is not something I sneeze at, but I do allow myself to splurge on items such as this a few times a year. Like I said before, do I really think this product is WORTH $25.00? The honest answer is no considering the fact that I know that this product probably cost $2.00 or less to manufacture. There are other costs involved with this product that include marketing, advertising and salespeople's commissions which bump up the price. It IS worth the price if I am happy with the results, and I am. I like it enough to keep it and I have used it almost every day since I bought it. It really does give my skin a pretty POP of color. It's also not drowning is shimmer and sparkles with is the case with a lot of blushes on the market. It is not completely matte either; it just gives my skin a nice sheen. Sonia Kashuk Flamingo is an almost exact dupe of Bobbi Brown Peony. I have both and they are almost identical. Peony is just a bit pinker, while Flamingo has more peach. If you don't want to shell out $25.00 for Bobbi Brown, you can get an almost exact dupe for around $8.99 by buying Sonia Kashuk Flamingo.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain- Cherish
rated 4 of 5
glowing500 9/17/2012 6:03:00 PM

I have several of these Revlon Balm Stains and I really love them. They are so moisturizing and they last a fairly long time on me. I tend to eat my lipstick and lip glosses off so I apply constantly throughout the day. The packaging is only so-so. The cap is not very secure and I would be afraid that this would make a mess in my purse or makeup bag so I just keep them stashed in my desk at work. Cherish is the first one I have reviewed. It's a pretty cool toned Barbie pink color, a little TOO "Barbie" for my coloring. I usually apply it and then tone down the bright pink with a rosy colored lipstick. Today I applied Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour lipstick in Eternal Rose on top of Cherish and the end result is very pretty. Top everything off with a clear gloss and you are good to go. The result of this three product sandwich is a pretty moisturized lip that will last all day!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 9/6/2012 3:09:00 PM

I am only rating this product a (1) for a few reasons. First of all, let me start out by saying that this product is excellent at preventing creasing, even for me with my urber oily eyelids. This product also makes any eye shadow POP and appear more vibrant. Well so far so good. The problem with this product is that it grabs onto shadow like glue and makes it almost impossible to properly blend out your shadows. I have to blend, blend, blend and then blend some more and I still do not get the effect I am after. I am also rating a (1) for the much hated genie bottle that Urban Decay used to use. I realize that this product now comes in a tube but I still will not purchase this. I say "purchase" because I have three or four mini bottles of this that came with palettes or other kits. I have never purchased a full bottle of this by itself. If Urban Decay could just formulate this so that it is not so much like Super Glue or cement, then I would be a happy camper. Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my HG eye shadow primer. It prevents creasing and the formula lets me blend out my shadows, however, I think that UDPP gives a more vibrant look to your shadows.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 9/4/2012 6:36:00 PM

Terrible, had to chuck it in the trash. The lightest color was too dark for me and it looked orange, shiny and greasy on my face. Epic fail for this oily skinned, fair skinned chick.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 5 of 5
glowing500 9/4/2012 5:25:00 PM

I couldn't decide if this product was a four or a five. I decided on a five and here is why: Good for my oily skin. I only need one touch up in the middle of the day. Good color selection. I buy the lightest pink color and the lightest yellow color and mix them together. I love the fact that Maybelline has pink and yellows but why no neutrals? I'm a very pinky cool toned blonde. If I use a very pinky foundation, I look too pink. Yellow helps to cut the pink in my skin, I usually like to mix yellow and pink together or sometimes just use yellow alone to cut the pink in my skin. Good price point and its drugstore so I don't have to trudge to the mall to get it. I'm not a makeup snob and actually prefer to purchase drugstore. It is so much easier to pop into a drugstore than to fight the crowds and the parking zoo in a mall . Great matte finish. Good for oily skinned vixens like myself. Now I have not always loved this foundation. As a matter of fact, I have tried it several times before and HATED it because it balled up on my skin. I have since learned that the application of this product is key. This product MUST be applied with fingers ONLY! No brushes or sponges. If you apply it with a brush or a sponge, the product will ball up on your face in little pills. I have purchased this product at least three times previously, used a brush to apply and and then promptly tossed the product into the trash because the results were so horrific. Another reviewer said the same thing “finger application only with this product”. I tried it and it works . If you are oily skinned and have tried this product before using brushes or sponges and threw it in the garbage because of the poor result, give it another try and use your fingers to apply it. The result is a smooth, matte finish that is not cakey if you don’t over do it. This product lasts all day on my oily skin with minimal touch ups. I don’t think dry or combo skin would work with this, it’s for only for the oiliest among us!

Brows -Maybelline - Expert Eyes Twin Brow & Eye Pencils [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
glowing500 8/30/2012 7:18:00 PM

I believe I tried these years ago and found them to be hard as a rock. I picked them up the other day after reading through some rave reviews and... WOW...I really love these pencils. First of all, they last forever! I fill in my brows and then set them with Anastasia brow get and they last all day on my oily skin. I have used expensive pencils that did not last as long as these little gems do. I'm really fair but sometimes "Blonde" brow pencils are way too light for me, I like my brows to stand out to avoid a ghost like appearance. I bought both the "Blonde" and the "light brown" colors. I love the blonde; it's a perfect color for me even though it's kind of a taupe color... The "light brown" is really sort of a reddish color. It seems that it would really suit redheads more than brunettes. My one gripe with these is the packaging. Why or why are these pencils so dang short? I like to put my pencils in a cup holder and that is impossible with these little shorties. Well, I'll take the good with the bad. These are cheap, easy to find, last forever and I found a color that suits me. I'm a happy eyebrow lady!

Liquid -Tarte - Maracuja Miracle 12-Hour Foundation- Medium
rated 1 of 5
glowing500 8/16/2012 5:56:00 PM

I hate to say "This is a horrible foundation". I would rather say "This is a horrible foundation for ME". What works for some simply does NOT work for others. First of all, the coverage is very, very light. I would say it's like a tinted moisturizer, but it can also get cakey if you apply too much. I had to use concealer on the red spots on my cheeks. The finish on this is just not that pretty. I used a primer on it and it just looked kind of dull on me. The pump is terrible. One pump does not deliver enough product, two pumps and I have too much. I would rather just have a pour bottle than deal with this kind of a pump. This is not a "12-hour" foundation. I had shine by 9:00 that I had to powder down after applying it at 6:00. I would have to say that this foundation is NOT for oily skinned people. I'm pretty disappointed in this foundation, especially since it's pricey. Well, it's pricey for ME as I use mostly drugstore. When I do shell out for a higher end product, I expect it to PERFORM. Like I said, it may work for some people even though I could not make it work for me and my oily skin. This is going back.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara
rated 4 of 5
glowing500 8/16/2012 12:51:00 PM

I bought this due to the overwhelming love it gets on Makeup Alley. It's not promoted as much as Lash Blast (which I HATE with a passion). I don't hate Lash Blast for its formula; I simply cannot stand the HUGE brush! I usually only buy waterproof formulas. I couldn't find this in waterproof so I just bought the regular formula in black. It's way down on the bottom of the Cover Girl display, you have to really hunt to find it. This is good thickening mascara that must be paired with lengthening mascara IMHO. I used Almay Get up and Grow, and then used this on top. The result is gorgeous...long and full lashes! I highly recommend pairing these two mascaras together. Until Makeup Alley, I never in a million years would have used two mascaras together, I never would have mixed two foundations together and I never would have discovered half of the great products that have found. I heart Makeup Alley! This is good thickening mascara that is easy to remove and does not make your lashes stiff and crunchy.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - 511B Nouveau Pink
rated 5 of 5
glowing500 8/8/2012 5:38:00 PM

Rite Aid has Wet n Wild for BOGO this week so I stocked up on a ton of product from this awesome, low priced brand. I bought every lipstick that I thought I could wear and Nouveau Pink is a standout! I'm pale and cool toned but I can wear bright reds and pinks. This lipstick really brightens up my face and makes me feel happy just wearing it. I'm also happy that it only cost me a buck...yes...people ONE DOLLAR!!! Actually since it was on sale I got two for $1.50. The fact that Wet n Wild can sell cosmetics for this price just proves what a huge markup there is on department store makeup. I can live with cruddy packaging, no testers and no pesky sales people to hound me while I look. Rite Aid takes returns so if it does not work for me, I can return it. Wet n Wild lipsticks are smooth and long wearing; the quality is comparable to a high end brand. I used to buy Clinique lipsticks many a moon ago and they never lasted longer than an hour or so on me. These are pigmented so they last a good amount of time, not all day but they give you quite the bang for the buck! Anybody who walks past the Wet n Wild display without trying their lip gloss, lipsticks, tinted moisturizer, AMAZING blushes, eyeshadow, amazing gel eyeliner or nail polish is missing out on some good stuff. This is not cheapo kiddie makeup people. Wet n Wild makes some outstanding products and sells them for an amazing price. W n W clear nail polish makes one of the BEST top coats I have ever used. Use two coats and you will NOT get chips! Wet n Wild is the Queen of Drugstore Makeup!
