Fragrances -Strange Invisible Perfumes - L'Invisible

I hate to be a party pooper, but this fragrance just did not work for me. The initial blast was just awful. So awful, in fact, that I could not get past it. It seemed very....urine-like to me. I could not wait to scrub it off. I did not have any isopropyl alcohol to dilute this, and resorted to soaking a cotton pad with nail polish remover to get this off of me. I am disappointed that this did not work. I was unwilling to spend full price for this without a test drive. I managed to get a small 1.5 cc spray from The Perfumed Court. Maybe I just got some product that was off or turned? If you're interested, definitely try before you buy. This, sadly, was just not for me.
I found that this eyeliner went on creamy and smooth & it lasted all day on my bottom eyelid. I bought this in Bold Brown, only because on some mornings I am too rushed to apply my Smashbox Jet Set. So I kept this in my purse for back-up use. I don't agree with the advertising claim that the product has the drama and impact of liquid liner. Come on, Maybelline, that has been tried before! Some of you will recall that BB gel liner was originally presented in pencil form. I agree with other reviewers that I had some trouble twisting up this pencil, so points off for that inconvenience. I also find that pencils like this one may seem cheap but really aren't. I find that cream/gel/liquid liners are a better value, at least for me. This product did not last me very long at all, so more points off for that too. I don't know that I will re-purchase, since I am planning to get the new Tarte eyeliner for those rushed mornings, and will review that product as well.
I really like that initial blast of vetiver. I spritzed this on my husband and WOW, it was sexy! But then, it just turned pepper-tastic. I was hoping to have hubby wear this but........when we got to the drydown, he said he hated it and wanted to get away from it. So sad. I think the bottle is very elegant-looking. I suppose that with fragrance sometimes it is hit or miss. I am just disappointed that this one was a miss. But for someone else, this might just be amazing.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Maison Francis Kurkdjian Cologne pour le matin

I think this smells fresh & beautiful. That initial burst of lemon gives way to herbs, but it is pleasant, not medicinal or foody. I am just heartbroken that it does not last on me at all. It just disappears on me. Maybe a formulation with more parfum would eliminate this problem for me. I am searching for a signature, everyday fragrance that I can live in. I would rather hear "Wow, you smell great" instead of "What perfume are you wearing?" I want to wear the fragrance, not the other way around. This fragrance could have been The One but for the lack of staying power. As beautiful as this is, it is rather costly, so I would recommend that you try before you buy. I will also be trying the Aqua Universalis and am keeping my fingers crossed.
Lotions/ Creams -Weleda - Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion
glamourdoll 8/13/2011 11:27:00 PM
This is a very nice lotion---it smells fresh & nice and absorbs quickly. I think the blue glass bottle is very pretty but I don't know that it is the most functional, including a pump might be helpful to get all of the product out. The consistency is fairly runny, which is not a bad thing, it just seems packaging in a tube might make it easier to get all the product out. As much as this stuff costs, I would like to be able to use every drop of it. I found this on the clearance aisle at Ulta for half off; there is no way I would have paid full price for it. I found this to be nicely scented and moisturizing but not greasy. It absorbed quickly too. I normally use Lubriderm, which I also find to be moisturizing, non-greasy, and quick-absorbing. The difference for me is the Weleda smells nicer. I will use and enjoy my bottle of Weleda but will be going back to the Lubriderm. I might consider switching to the Weleda but it is just too expensive. EDIT: husband LOVES the scent of this lotion. Says that I smelled "delicious" after applying it!!
This did nothing for me. I am guessing that this would be a great mascara if you already have a full, luscious fringe of long, thick lashes.............in other words, if you don't need mascara at all then by all means, get this product. It is just as bad a Maybelline Great Lash just this tube is prettier. Oh, and every beauty editor hasn't been bribed by CG to say this is the greatest mascara ever when in fact it's the opposite. I bought this in an effort to save some money on mascara, DiorShow means a big $25 hit to my wallet but this NatureLuxe is going straight into the trash. No added volume, and no added lengthening = mascara in the trash can. Pass on this one.
Cleansers -Olay - 2-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths - Sensitive
glamourdoll 8/7/2011 11:19:00 AM
I actually got this in the "Normal" version and even though I have oily skin they work very well for me. Before trying these, my cleasing routine was not so simple. First I would use a Ponds or Basis wipe to remove my makeup. Then, I would use a washcloth with J&J baby shampoo to remove my eye makeup---a tall order since I wear a lot of eye makeup. Finally, I would wet a now-discontined NARS bar of facial soap, rub the wet bar with a clean washcloth, and then work the lathery washcloth over my face. It was fairly time-consuming, and DH was not happy about the number of washcloths that I was going through! Enter these cloths. Now my routine is so much quicker & easier. I just use one woven cloth, and I can remove my eye makeup (without any stinging), get all my makeup off, and cleanse my skin all in one easy step. I found that the Normal version has a light but pleasant fragrance but it not heavy or bothersome. I notice that my skin is left clean and fresh but not dry, tight, or stripped. I got the double-pack at Wal-Mart which is 66 cloths for $11.97 and that comes out to about 18 cents a cloth. I am pretty sure that I have spent much more than that for cleansers that I didn't like as much. I was even able to get every trace of my Ben Nye foundation off my skin with these. I will most likely repurchase. I've also gotten a box of the Total Effects cloths (also an add water then cleanse, like this product) but that was harder for me to find. My guess is that I will probably mix it up between the two, and probably get whichever product is easier for me to find (it took two trips to Ulta to get the TE cloths). And, it will be so easy to travel with these! I keep a kit with all my travel toiletry items ready to go at all times and it will be super-easy for me to just put a few of these cloths in a zip-lock baggie. Also, no skin problems for me with these--no irritation, redness, breakouts. My skin seems to be very happy after I cleanse with these! I am thinking about trying other products in the Olay lineup. I kind of wish that I had tried these cloths sooner!
My best friend gave me the heart locket with the solid perfume inside. I happen to really like the locket and I plan to wear it as jewelry when all the perfume is gone. The locket is on a pretty black silk cord, too. The pan holding the perfume is fairly small, which is fine with me since I'll get more mileage out of this as jewelry rather than perfume. I happen to like the fragrance---as others have noted, tuberose with berries. Maybe the solid perfume is softer? I plan to use up all the perfume and then wear the empty locket but I don't plan to buy the fragrance. I don't know that it is necessarily outspoken but it is pleasant. It is a lovely gift and I will enjoy it.
This is absolutely top-notch. I purchased this in the brown color---and it is beautiful. I painted a stroke on my hand, and it goes on this pretty chocolate color (think Hershey's milk chocolate) but it dries darker (think Hershey's Special Dark). The packaging is at once beautiful and functional. I did a comparison with the new Maybelline automatic pencil which claims to give the same effect as liquid. I put the Maybelline on my top lash line..........and the Divinora on my bottom lashes. Well before midday I could tell that my top line was gone...........but the bottom line was still going strong! The tip on this is so fine that it's very easy to control and put on a clean, fine line. The result is beautiful. It wears beautifully and removes without a tug of war. I am finding that pencil liners just do not give me the richness & definition that gels and liquids provide. I would definitely repurchase this---and I think that it is definitely worth checking out.
Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Yummy Plummy
glamourdoll 6/29/2011 10:42:00 PM
This is a gorgeous soft plum shade. I was using Cover Girl's Incredifull l/s in 920 Berry Souffle but that has been discontinued. For me, Yummy Plummy is a my-lips-but-better color. It has a nice, smooth, creamy texture that glides onto my lips--seriously, I think this rivals department store brands (Clinique, I am talking to you specifically here). I bought two tubes b/c I was pretty sure that I would like it, and am glad that I did. After already having tried (and Loved!!) the Plum Paradise shade, I figured YP would be gorgeous. I plan to keep repurchasing these and also to check out other shades. Bravo, Maybelline, keep these gorgeous lipsticks coming!!
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
glamourdoll 5/23/2011 10:54:00 PM
I actually really like this. I apply one coat to my nails and it makes nails looks gorgeous. In the last few weeks I have gotten several compliments on my nails! Whatever the optical brightener is, the effect is more pronounced out under the sun in natural daylight. But, I have also observed that under black lighting, this gave my nails a very cool white glow! I agree that the price is steep. So in order to get every last drop, i put in a huge steel ball (like a ball bearing). I am hoping that it will give me some mixing power so it doesn't turn thick and gloopy. I am planning to repurchase.
Cleansers -Ponds - Chamomile & White Tea Cleansing Cloths
glamourdoll 3/28/2011 10:15:00 PM
I saw an ad for these in a magazine & was intrigued. These cloths do a nice job of removing my makeup (although I must qualify here & state that these haven't gone up against my beloved Ben Nye cream foundation). I think these are good for removing foundation, blush, lipstick but I didnt feel like these would be good for my eye area. I use the Ocusoft pads for removing eye makeup and they are wonderful BTW. My one and huge complaint with this product is the scent. It is strong and it is BAD. The label says chamomile & white tea but I am telling you I get a huge note of..............dirty socks. It just smells really really bad to my nose. If you happen to like it then this would be great for you. It would be FANTASTIC if Ponds would make this in a fragrance-free version. I would definitely buy that. The overwhelming & totally unpleasant scent of this means I definitely will not repurchase it.
Hair Color -Clairol - Natural Instincts Hair Color
glamourdoll 2/9/2011 8:20:00 PM
I am Asian and have stick-straight hair. My natural color is dark brown (it was jet black when I was a little girl, but going black seems unflattering to my skintone). It refuses to curl. So I no longer fight the straightness. I get my hair cut every 8 weeks & I currently wear it in a chin-length bob. I don't own a curling iron or hot rollers. I wash my hair every other day. I gently squeeze out the excess water and rub it (again, gently) with a towel so it's damp. Then I blow it dry--otherwise, random sections of it decide to lay oddly. I do have some gray that I prefer to blend in, as they really stand out against the dark brown strands. I got this in Golden Cappucino 28G, part of the Golden Shimmer collection. I mixed up the color and applied it to dry, day-old hair. I think I left it on 20 minutes, but next time I will probably just do 15. I rinsed it out & blew it dry. I washed my hair about 36 hr later. My hair looks gorgeous! My hair is very healthy & gleamy anyway, but now, instead of those pesky grays, there are now highlights. It was so easy to use. I did not make a mess in my bathroom with this dye, and I didn't have any dye go astray on my skin. I also like the conditioner that comes with the kit and that there is enough for 6 treatments. When I went back to the store to buy another box, it was marked "clearance". But, when I went to the Clairol website, I found my shade. Apparently, I think that the NI line is being re-launched with the inclusion of a 2 week "color refresher". It seems that it will not be labelled as "golden shimmer". But I am planning to re-purchase this, definitely.
I went to a nearby EL counter a week ago to check out this foundation. The sales associate who helped me was so pleasant & she really knew all the products. She was not sure that any of the Fresh Air shades would work for me (I have golden undertones in my skin). But she painted a stripe of the Linen Beige on my jawline & thought it could work. This makeup is wonderful. It's a soft, creamy, gentle liquid (that is nice & forgiving). It slips on easily & blends effortlessly (and when I am ready to remove it, it washes off without difficulty). The Linen Beige shade is just beautiful. Unfortunately they don't keep testers out where you can see them, they are kept tucked under the counter & you have to ask specifically for this item. I wish wish wish that Estee Lauder would re-launch this foundation in a full range of shades (currently there are 4 available) & actually advertise this product. I love what this makeup does for my skin. It evens out my skin, makes it look fresh & pretty, but isnt heavy or cakey. It does not pool up in my pores (CG Clean Makeup, I am talking about you). The timing will co-incide with the next GWP but I am planning to re-purchase. EDIT: I like so much I went & bought a backup bottle last night. EL please make more colors of this, it's gorgeous. The label on Nailtrition states that it's a "Nail Strengthener & Growth Treatment". I've been using Essie Millionails for that & I don't think I'm going to stop (no need to fix what's not broken, right?). However, I really like this Nailtrition just because it looks pretty. It's sort of like nail gloss: my nails look pretty & shiny, with just the sheerest kiss of pearly pink. It is perfect for when I want my nails to look great without a lot of fuss. It's super-forgiving, even if I slap it on my nails, they still look great. So it is perfect for those times when my manicure is rushed, I didn't buy this for a treatment so I don't know if it's made my nails any stronger. But I really like the My Nails But Better look this gives me and if I ever run out I do plan to repurchase. I think this was about $9 at Sally for a 0.6 oz bottle.
