Eye Makeup Remover -Olay - Regenerist Eye Make-up Remover
ginger9 11/4/2008 2:12:00 PM
Bought this last night. I think it does a great job of removing eye makeup. I like the scent too. It felt gentle but yes it did sting my eyes a bit but it did not last long nor would it prevent me from using it again. I took off a lippie for that. You just have to be a bit careful not to apply it directly into your eyes.

Eye Shadow -Annabelle - Gleam
ginger9 10/7/2008 2:46:00 PM
I've had this for a few years. I grow more and more fond of Annabelle e/s each and every day. Gleam is no exception. On me this show up like a light beige-champagne-taupe colour. It's shimmery but not over the top. I really like this for office wear. this rivals Mac's Shroom for versatility, I like it best for inner corners as a highlight on a C35 complexion.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion spf 15
ginger9 9/4/2008 11:21:00 AM
I'm surprised at the low ratings. I have gone through many moisturizers with SPF and this one is my favorite by far. It's not greasy and actually imparts a subtle glow to my face (works wonderfully with makeup). I love the way it makes my skin feel, the smell and the packaging. I bought this to try since it came with a sample of some other Olay product as a bonus. Did not realized it was recommended by Paula. I would buy this again and again. I would put this in HG status. Have not experienced any breakouts. For reference I have pretty normal skin. Not oily not dry, not prone to acne.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer Blush in X-Rocks (Neo Sci-Fi 2008) [DISCONTINUED]
ginger9 9/3/2008 10:00:00 AM
For reference I am C35 I've heard rave and HG status reviews on this blush and decided to go hunt this down at my local counter and try it out. Pros: Very pigmented, would look amazing on tanned skin or darker complexions, gives a not-over-the-top shimmery finish with a glow. Why I did not purchase (not necessarily cons): on me it was nice but not unique as I already have Sunbasque, although the color isn't exactly the same I feel like it's a close enough substitute for me. Personally I am not a fan of shimmer also I find it magnifies my pores. Conclusion: I did not purchase as I had something similar already (Sunbasque). It's a very nice blush, very pigmented and applies luxuriously. Highly recommended for darker skinned ladies.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Smut Eyeshadow
ginger9 8/7/2008 9:16:00 AM
Yes I would buy this over and over and over again. I have this in a palette and ignored it for the longest time. Looked uninteresting until I gave it a whirl. The texture is excellent, super pigmented, it's dark enough for a C35 (me) but not harsh like black e/s can be. I own quite a few e/s and this one is going to be HG for me, stands next to woodwinked my other HG so that is saying a lot.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation
ginger9 5/28/2008 3:42:00 PM
I am C35 in MAC and 6.5 is a perfect match for me. Pros: foundations has great staying power. Seems to really cling to skin but manage to look very natural. coverage is very smooth. I have only used one pump for sheer coverage not yet experimented with full coverage but I think it would build up very nicely. Cons: This may not be great for dry skin. I have normal skin so I haven't had any issues. Personally I could do without the pump. I like to have full control over the amount and the pump limits me. Also the price point is high for what it delivers. I may not repurchase because I think there are other foundations out there that are just as good at a lower price.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Vinyl Lip in Rhythm
ginger9 5/22/2008 5:19:00 PM
I bought this on sale on top of a 2for1 special. I am C35, pigmented lips, dark eyes & hair. This works for a milky pink gloss. Although with my coloring it takes a bit of work. I need a full face makeup, l/l and a light base to really bring out the pink. But that's okay, with lips like mine I know no matter how great the l/g it isn't opaque enough to lighten my lips completely. This a very cute pink and would look amazing on anyone who's fair. One last note, after I unwrapped the tube I was peeved to find out it was nearly half empty. Dunno if I just got a bad batch or it dried out. I was too lazy to go back for an exchange.

Liquid -Lancome - Photogenic [DISCONTINUED]
ginger9 4/25/2008 11:43:00 PM
I bought this at a duty free store at the airport where they don't have samples to try so the shade I got was on a best guess with the help of the SA. I am C35 in MAC and was match to Buff 4. Its a good match but when I run out I will try the Bisque range since Buff is slightly more beige compared to my yellow skintone. Less is more with this formulation. I applied it sparingly onto a moisturized face with a sponge and in a patting motion then just lightly blended my entire face. I haven't tried with a foundation brush but I imagine it would be fantastic with one. My skin looked radiant, very smooth reminded me of the skin in airbrushed magazines but without the cakiness or that "you wear lots of makeup" look. Once you get the technique down it can appear very natural but give excellent coverage. I have normal skin, not dry nor oily and I am lucky enough to not breakout unless I am seriously stressed. So I did not experience breakouts nor oiliness at all with this product.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow
ginger9 4/15/2008 12:37:00 PM
I agree with boadicea23. You need a serious primer with this. I love the duochrome of club and how unique this shadow is but the consistency is hard to work with. Maybe it's because my club came in a Christmas palette but it isn't dense enough and crumbles into dust very easily and doesn't stick to my lids. You have to pat this e/s on rather than use the wind shield wiper motion because the color just disappears and ends up as fallout on the rest of your face. Once you get the hang of putting this one, it is awesome for layering colors, especially greens, golds and bronzes.

Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow Mascara Waterproof
ginger9 1/28/2008 11:14:00 AM
Pros: Really volumizes and thickens lashes immensely. I look like I have falsies when I wear this. Did not flake at all on me and didn't make my lashes stiff as a board. They still felt relatively moisturized and flexible. Cons: by mid day, especially in hot weather it smudges and transfers underneath my eyes. Suggestions: I think pairing this with a good primer (such as the shiseido primer) may stop the smudging. As for the flaking some have experienced, my suggestion would be to make sure you have no clumps on your wand and to not wear too many coats and don't "over brush" while applying the mascara.

Fragrances -Prada - Prada Beauty Eau de Parfum
ginger9 1/10/2008 9:52:00 AM
Got this as a gift. By default you have high expectations and want to like this perfume. On the positive side, this perfume is complex and layered. It's definitely not floral or sweet smelling. I do not dislike the scent, however it is very overpowering. I wore one quick spritz and it was too much - I was overwhelmed and very conscious of the smell the whole day. It definitely has lasting power. I want to wear it again as I'm hoping maybe I just had too much of it on the last time I wore it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to lighten a strong smelling EDP?

Just get it. This is awesome, my new fave HG brown e/s. Everyone's already described it to the T so I won't say any more.

Fragrances -Alfred Sung - Shi
ginger9 12/28/2007 2:41:00 PM
I bought this because it was on sale, it was 20 bucks for the 100ml EDT. I love it when I make a value purchase as this perfume has really stepped up and currently gets the most play on my repetoire. It's up against the Prada's, RL's, Gucci's and the Chanel perfumes and it stand on its own. I'm not an expert in describing the topnotes and the ingredients, all I can say is it's fresh but femine at the same time. There's an excellent balance of watery notes to floral bouquets. It's subtle enough as to not overpower but strong enough to linger throughout the day.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Novel Twist: 5 Pro Brushes (Nordstrom Exclusive)
ginger9 8/15/2007 3:01:00 PM
This was my first brush set from MAC and I am very pleased. As I don't have a comparison to make vs the regular brushes so I won't comment on that (but the reviewer below has) I am very happy with the way the brushes feel. My favourite is also the 187se, and I thought I might dislike the 275se but I was wrong. I love all the brushes and I use them all! However I have to say my 219se appears to be a bit thicker (less pointed) than the regular 219, doesn't bother me though. I really like the short handles and the bag is very cute. Great purchase and a very good value. I highly recommend it.

Lip Gloss -MAC - 3D Glass
ginger9 8/4/2007 10:18:00 PM
I bought this in In 3D. What a colossal disapointment. Not only is it super sheer, but you can't see the "duochrome" that the 3D Glass claims to have. It's not detectable unless you are standing directly underneath bright lights. I have Palatial and it's a sheer l/g with duochrome and beats this by miles. I haven't been disappointed by a MAC purchase in a LONG time but this one's going back.
