This is probably really good if you have very oily hair/scalp. I only use this if my scalp is having a particularly oily time of it. It really cleans very well, and it does have a bit of a "dandruff-shampoo" kind of texture and scent to it. I would not recommend this for dry hair at all.
This is the first sulfate-free conditioner I've tried, and I do like it very much. After using it just two or three times, my thick, straight (Asian) hair is already smoother and healthier-looking. It rinses quite clean, so I don't feel like it leaves a film on my hair. The lime scent is nice, though it can be a bit sharp whenever I open the bottle. I've been using this conditioner for about a month now and I'm really pleased with it. I'll have to eventually compare it with other sulfate-free conditioners (I also bought Avalon's Clarifying and Jason's Biotin conditioners, which I have yet to use), and I'll probably re-adjust my rating then. But for now, it gets 4 lippies!
Songes has floral notes that should remind me of the tropics, but for whatever reason, it instead strikes me as a cozy, indoor scent. There's an intimacy to it that I really like. It's disappointing to me that although I enjoy this lovely floral scent in theory, it somehow doesn't call to me; I have no desire to actually wear it. It does last quite a long time, almost the whole day on me, and I find it quite linear.
Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Blushing Nude (New for Fall '08)

Sort of an old-fashioned looking nude-rose on me. It's definitely not a light nude shade, and is closer to a darker pink. It is OK on me (NC30/35) but it doesn't really do anything for me, either. The finish is semi-matte and I prefer something a little creamier, since a medium-or-darker toned matte has a tendency to make my lips appear to "recede". I put lipgloss on under or over it to avoid this look. It's generally fine and I'll probably use it up because it is a decent everyday neutral, and the lasting power is good (due to the matteness) but I would not bother to repurchase it even at the 1/2 price I got it at. (Oh, and I just noticed that my tube does have a few random sparkly bits in it. Annoying, as I thought this was a creme with no shimmer, and the sparkly bits are kind of big. What is going on?!)
I get a little bit of honey and boozy cherries at the very beginning, and then...it's all dark chocolate on me for a few hours. It might still be an aphrodisiac, as my hubby's a chocolate fiend, but his comment on Back to Black was: "Smells like cheap chocolate." Haha, guess not! It's not a bad fragrance, but basically it does nothing for me. (I'm generally not big on chocolate, though.)
Play-doh and melted plastic, with sickly violet. It never really changed from this on me, and lasted just a couple of hours. Ugh, thank goodness it was only a sample.
Palettes -Stila - Fall Fantasy 2007 in Madagascar agate
fivezero 3/10/2011 4:17:00 PM
Love this. I'm NC30-35 with black hair and this palette is so versatile for a neutral look. Every shade is great! I don't like to take too much stuff with me when I travel -- this palette will be perfect for those occasions. The agate on twine that came with the palette is cute, but I'm not sure I'll do anything with it! :)
It's a cozy, ginger-pumpkin candle kind of scent; I don't think I'd actually mistake this for real food. There's not much depth to it, on me, and it doesn't last at all! I dabbed some on my wrist, but after 15 minutes it was already fading. I dabbed more on, but after an hour, all I got was a vague, ginger-pumpkin scented soap impression...it was pretty much gone. I really like the concept (and Tilda Swinton, too) but the execution has me disappointed.
The best of the major drugstore lipsticks, in my opinion. The colour selection is really good (I am warm-toned) and the formula has good lasting power, nice texture, and unscented. Packaging is also not horribly cheap looking to me (I'm looking at you, L'Oreal Colour Riche!). I've been using these for ages...Toast of New York was my 90s shade...I can't believe it's still in their lineup. Fantastic deal when half price at the drugstore!
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Lostmarch Lann-Ael Eau de Toilette

Warm, creamy, cookies/oatmeal to me, quite one-dimensional. Lovely to sniff but too foody as a perfume, for my liking. It lasted a few hours on me, which is not bad for an EDT. If you're into gourmands, give it a try.
For the price, I really can't complain. It's a really nice medium-deep neutral red, quite flattering on my yellow skintone. Its lasting power is average at best, but I find it wears down evenly, anyway. I mainly like to use it to top-up a lipstick, and I like it best used this way.
Cleansers -Yves Rocher - Hydra Specific Soft Foam Cleanser
fivezero 3/9/2011 12:00:00 PM
This is a pretty nice, mild cleanser. One or two pumps is enough to clean my face, unless I have on Revlon ColorStay foundation (which is pretty tough to get off!). I like the foaminess and the pump dispenser, and the product feels so light. It rinses off easily and doesn't leave my combo/dry skin feeling tight. For under $10 (YR stuff is always going on sale for 1/2 off) it is not a bad choice. I might repurchase it but I have other cleansers to go through, first.
Fragrances -Yves Rocher - Vie Privée (2007 Edition)
fivezero 3/7/2011 10:36:00 PM
I bought this on a whim back in 2008 when I saw it in the YR catalogue. I later discovered that this Vie Privée is a re-release of an earlier YR perfume from the 1980s, and this version is also slightly different from the original. I can only speak for the new version, and I think it is really lovely. It's a white floral bouquet, nicely balanced. It's a gentle, everyday kind of fragrance. I would have preferred a spray, but the bottle with the stopper top is quite elegant, in any case. It's too bad YR doesn't seem to carry this anymore; I guess it was limited edition. It's a shame, as I would definitely repurchase this.
Fragrances -Fruits & Passion - Lemon Vanilla Eau de Toilette [DISCONTINUED]

So disappointed that they discontinued this! Lovely, warm, lemon-vanilla. It was a really delightful and comforting fragrance.
Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Sexy Little Things perfume

Strikes me as very plasticky and synthetic smelling. Mainly I get apple from it...a body lotion kind of apple scent, not so much the real thing. Dries down to a light musk, but overall it doesn't last long on me, either. I like that it isn't too sweet, but the plastic note really turns me off.
