Lip Treatments -MAC - Tinted Lip Conditioner - Petting Pink

This is beautiful! When I saw this at my local MAC counter I fell in love with the colour at first sight. It feels very moisturising, and it's just the right consistency. Not sticky, not so thin that it slides all over your lips. I like that it's SPF15. It smells of vanilla, it's not bad but I don't love it either. I'm usually not one for glossy lips - it can make me look a bit tacky/over the top sometimes but this gives a really gorgeous sheen.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection

This mascara has many good features but overall, is not the best I've tried, not even close to be honest. It stays on all day, doesn't clump. It lengthens and thickens to an extent but honestly I think it delivers fairly average results on both of those claims. The brush is huge! I have long lashes and gigantor eyes so it wasn't a problem for me, but I can see the brush size being a negative for others. It wasn't terribly difficult to remove, but standard mascara is easier to remove, and for the results it delivers it just isn't worth it.

Cleansers -Aesop - Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser
rated 4 of 5

First of all, I really dislike the scent of this. It is very 'herby' (sorry - terrible at identifying scents). But as far as cleansers go this one is really very good! My current foundation is heavy (EL - double wear) and fairly difficult to remove. This took it off easily. I apply to a damp face and massage it in for 10 - 15 seconds. In order to test it I removed it with only water rather than my usual body shop face cloth, then tested for traces of make up with my toner - nothing! Believe me - that's a huge rarity! It makes my skin soft like nothing else and even though I hate the whole "use with the Aesop hydrating cream of your choice" gimmick I have to say it works beautifully with the primrose facial hydrating cream!

Cleansers -Aesop - Fabulous Face Cleanser
rated 3 of 5

This is a nice light cleanser with a pleasant fragrance, I didn't use it on a long-term basis so I can't say whether or not it would eventually be drying (but it wasn't for me in the short term). I won't repurchase because it wasn't so fabulous at removing my make up, the Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser did a much better job of that. If you wear light-no make up this might be the cleanser for you.

Moisturizers -Aesop - Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream

This is an ok product, but after a few months of use I have decided it's not particularly amazing, and not something I would repurchase. I asked the Aesop SA what moisturiser she would recommend for normal skin/prone to a few dry spots. She recommended this and it's just not moisturising enough. The scent is strong - lavender, it feels quite rich when you are applying it but for me it's not rich enough. If I wake up in the morning and my skin feels soft and supple - it's rich enough, never get that feeling with this.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint eye pencil in Engraved

The texture is creamy and very easy to apply, the colour is a nice rich black. The staying power really is mediocre, I can't imagine attempting to wear this when our Australian summer really kicks in, so I won't. I'll definitely be on the lookout for something that doesn't smudge after an hours wear in moderate, dry conditions. *edit* Clinique - Cream shapers are a million times better if you're looking for something with serious staying power!

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara
rated 4 of 5
erotic_snail 10/29/2007 10:51:00 AM

The main feature I seek in a mascara is volume, lots and lots of volume. So I was very happy to receive a free sample of this from an EL SA :) I do like the look this mascara creates. It's tidy, precise and never clumps. One of the problems with mascaras that promise volume is that they usually just deliver clumps. It gives great length, better than most mascaras that target volume, though.. if it is strictly volume you seek this one is ever so slightly lacking - especially when you consider its name. It's not as dramatic as Diorshow, but it still gives a lot of oomph and doesn't make me feel too overdone.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear

This foundation provides amazing coverage and lasts all day. I live in a warm climate, and now that summer is on the way there's been some humid days - foundation still hasn't faltered. I have this really pale skin that's prone to redness on hot days but when I wear this that isn't a problem. It's heavy and drying, I pay more attention to my skincare regime when using this foundation - I always apply moisturiser before wearing it and ALWAYS take it off at night, no matter how tired I am or how much partying I've been doing. I use a fairly intense moisturiser at night too. You'll need a good cleanser to get this stuff off. It's a beautiful foundation, but you have to treat your skin extra nicely when using it. For reference I use 1W1 Bone in this, and NW20 in MAC

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner
rated 2 of 5

I bought this out of desperation when it became apparent my current eyeliner had no staying power and my local store stocked nothing else. I'm really disappointed. I'm using it in Charcoal, the texture is AWFUL. Despite appearing to be creamy in texture I literally have to find scraps of paper to scribble on prior to using it on my eyes otherwise it doesn't apply at all. Every single time! Even then it requires a lot of pressure and many coats to look semi-decent. It does last for me, but I have no doubt there are a million other products with similar or better staying power and a much nicer application.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter Shea

This is thick and moisturising, but I prefer Brazil Nut - the scent is much nicer. I find the scent to be quite strong, and masculine. I won't repurchase, I don't particularly like the scent and the moisture it provides can be found in other TBS Butters.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Hand and Nail Cream
rated 3 of 5

This is a nice, fairly light hand cream. It absorbs very quickly, more so than any other hand cream I've used. I think this is perfect for relieving your hands of that dry feeling when you're on the go, but if if you're looking for a luxurious hand cream that will make your hands lovely and soft this isn't it.

Mascara -Prescriptives - False Eyelashes Plush Mascara
rated 3 of 5

This mascara is okay, but it's not wonderful I wouldn't repurchase. Everyone looks for something a little different in a mascara, that's what makes these reviews so hard to go by. My eyelashes are naturally long and curly, I want a mascara that will hold that curl and thicken my thin-ish lashes like crazy! I'm a big fan of the dramatic look. This definitely doesn't give me the false lashes look! It lengthens, and it seems to find every lash but doesn't add any thickness. If you want thick, dramatic lashes this isn't the mascara for you.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream
rated 1 of 5
erotic_snail 9/16/2007 10:00:00 PM

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. My hands are a normal sort of dry, they aren't cracked or peeling and don't require anything heavy duty - which is fortunate because for me this is completely ineffective at doing anything! It feels nice and rich to apply, though takes a while to absorb (I would overlook that in a cream that worked). I was hoping for something that would make my hands feel soft and moisturised - this hasn't changed a thing to be honest. I wish I could experience what it is everyone is raving about but this is truthfully the most useless hand cream I've used.

Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - Benefiance Revitalizing Eye Cream [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
erotic_snail 9/12/2007 8:05:00 AM

I started using this after some fine lines became apparent - I'm young so nothing extreme but I didn't want to watch them deepen. It's thick and has a slight golden shimmer to it, nothing garish but it's there. I would never use this in the day time, it's thick and can take a long time to absorb and even the best make up would have a very difficult time standing its ground. But most importantly, this product has undoubtedly given me great, I recommend it.

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
rated 3 of 5
erotic_snail 9/10/2007 12:50:00 PM

For the price, this is probably the one of the better eye make up removers you'll find. It's gentle and it removes most eye make up, I find it to be more effective than the L'Oreal gentle eye make up remover. Initially I was overjoyed to find a really cheap product that seemed to be doing the job, but after a lot of usage I began to feel less enthusiastic about it. It leaves a very greasy film on my face, it requires a lot of product and I still occasionally wake up with a bit of panda eye. If you're looking for something cheap yet reasonable - this is it. If you want something that really delivers I recommend Lancome Bifacil.
