I am in my early 40's, pale skin, combo skin, allergic "shiners" under my eyes. At first, I thought this was a godsend, as it did lighten up my circles. However, towards the end of the bottle, the results plateaued. It lightened some, earning it a 3, but I need more.

Eyeliner -Tarte - EmphasEYES waterproof clay eye shadow & liner

I have oily eyelids, and at first it stayed put. It must have been waiting for me to give a favorable review (this is an edit), because now it won't stay on without a primer. I didn't change anything in my routine, so I don't know what the deal is. It must be the weirdness I've seen other women over 40 describe; my skin is suddenly dry, sensitive, and oily at the same time. As other reviews have noted, it dries out quickly, but so did the much pricier Cle de Peau. The double-tipped brush is wonderful, but a little tricky for me to use on the lower eyelashes (I prefer a light touch, not a smoky eye.) I'm currently trying out other brands and using this until I find something better.

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Power
rated 2 of 5

This mascara worked for me for several months, then all of a sudden I got a bad tube. It clumped so badly, it looked like a young child had done my lashes. It also flaked terribly and left black snow under each eye! It took me forever to comb it out and get it off. I returned it, bought another tube, and it did the same thing. (I tried several applications before returning both tubes.) Before this, my only gripe was it was too difficult to remove, which is not a bad thing when you have oily eyelids and end up with raccoon eyes at the end of each day. I gave it a rating of 2 since it started off awesome and morphed into terrible. Try Maybelline's Illegal Length Fiber Extensions mascara, waterproof formula. It worked for me, but not for others.

Wow, I must be the only person who has had a good experience with this mascara so far. It stands up to my oily eyelids and comes off easily with mascara remover. There's no clumping, flaking, raccoon eyes or weird fiber-things. This is my current HG mascara (unless it fails me like Clinique's Lash Power did).

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment
rated 5 of 5

I am among the many converts to this lip product. I use the Aquaphor Healing Ointment in the lip tube, not the Aquaphor Lip Treatment. It works! I have sensitive lips, and this stopped rampant chapping and peeling overnight. Be careful to stay within the lip lines - I got some blackheads around my lips until I got used to it. As other reviewers have said, it works on dry patches as well. This is my HG lip product. I wish the two-tube pack was not so expensive for the amount of product you get, compared to the gigantic, cheap tubs. I solved this problem by scooping it from the tub into the tiny plastic cosmetic sampler pots you can get at makeup counters.

Lip Treatments -Philosophy - Kiss of Hope
rated 5 of 5

I have sensitive skin, especially sensitive lips. I have bought more lip products in the past year than I care to admit. The tinted version has been a lifesaver for me as I continue to experiment with other products. It does not dry my lips out, and puts a subtle tint on them. It is not enough to pass for lipstick, just for a casual day with light makeup. If you carry the tube in your pocket, prepare for it to melt and then warp as you try to smear it on. It's pricey for its size, but when you're desperate, you'll shuck out.

Lip Treatments -Kanebo - Kanebo SENSAI - TOTAL LIP TREATMENT

I have been dealing with very chapped lips for some time now, and thought this product would be the HG of lip treatments. The best way I can describe it is as a lotion for your lips. It does not feel moisturizing, etc. and seemed to disappear in a few minutes. Also, the packaging makes it hard to dispense the correct amount. La Mer and Caudalie are much better than this. I am fair-skinned, combination skin, early 40's, in the South. By the way, I am trying L-Lysine for the dry lips and it is helping. Try a Google search but heed warnings of taking too much.
