Powders -Dr. Hauschka - Dr. Hauschka pressed and loose powders
rated 3 of 5
cherryshake290 8/17/2005 1:01:00 AM

Alright, 3 lippies for Dr. Hauschka loose powder.

packaging: the packaging is alright on this product, better than some loose powders. It's a screw lid, nice and secure for travel. And as long as the puff is kept inside, it will stay in there. I have had trouble with the sifter itself coming off though.

price: $28, are you kidding me? It's mineral powder, not sifted gold. But since it is mineral and "all natural", it's a bit pricey.

quality and product rating: It's a nice, finely milled translucent powder, has a herb-like scent, and makes skin looks very nice and polished when first applied. The reason for the lack of lippies would be its staying power, which is shameful. One hour at most, on combination skin, applied with a brush. It may last 45min-60min using the puff and applying more product. Also, if you don't blend this in enough, it can show its pigmentation, which is extremely pale.

repurchase? No. Too expensive. Although I liked the nicely milled texture and scent, I will look for others for more staying powder. I like Almay compacts better than this.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Tutti Dolci - Angel food cake

I LOVE this gloss! Just got it in a 4 for $10 sale, and it's beautiful! Not sticky like most tube glosses, and a beautiful shimmery-beige color with subtle shimmer. It tastes and smells like rich cake! I want Chocolate Fondue now. :)

Polishes -mark - mark set shnie rapid action nail color - Roseology
rated 3 of 5
cherryshake290 7/4/2005 7:08:00 PM

I like this product for what it is: just a quick drying nail color. Don't buy it expecting a long lasting, rich colored product comparable to OPI or Essie. Roseology is a candy apple red shade, very nice. Goes on very evenly, only needed one coat. Chips somewhat easily, but that is what it is. :)

Loose Powders -Maybelline - Shine Free Oil Control Loose Powder
rated 2 of 5
cherryshake290 7/3/2005 9:04:00 PM

I bought this powder since it was on the safelist on zerozits.com as well! It doesn't cause or irritate acne, but it doesn't really do anything else, either. My first complaint is the packaging. It is the WORST! Even kept on a countertop, this powder will leak through the sifter, and then since the top is so huge and you have to lift it off, the powder all spills out. I have to keep it in a bad in order not to make a mess. This Shine Free works worse than the compact powder, and looks cakey and fake. If I apply it more than once during the day, it will also eventually turn orange, which is the biggest drawback. I will never again buy this. Two lippies for controlling shine for 1-2 hours, I guess, but the color, packagaing, and quality of this stuff is nasty.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer spf15
rated 4 of 5
cherryshake290 4/25/2005 2:48:00 PM

Aveeno Postively Radiant is another great skincare product by Aveeno. This thick lotion comes in a pump bottle that you can twist to close, in case you need to take it on a trip. The scent is pleasant and clean-smelling, and fades after a few minutes. I was combo to oily skin, and this moisturizer worked great at keeping dry spots at bay, while not over-moisturizing the greasy areas. I'm on my second bottle, and I love it. Immediately after applying, my skin feels softer, and it does look more "radiant" or alive. I like it better than Aveeno's Clear Complexion, because it moisturizes better, but I took off a point because it doesn't necessarily heal flaky skin overnight.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - avocado hair treatment
rated 1 of 5

If you're going to try this stuff, make sure you have REALLY dry/kinky hair. I used this on my hair, which is not colored, but blow-dried every day. What a disaster! After following package instructions, I dried my hair and it was so greasy from this goop it looked like it will still wet! I shampooed 2-3 times and it was still there, even the next day some of this nasty stuff remained. It was like rubbing a big dallop of Crisco onto my scalp. Never again!

Liquid -Revlon - New Complexion Makeup
rated 4 of 5
cherryshake290 4/22/2005 11:58:00 PM

New Complexion Oil Free does exactly what it is supposed to; it evens skintone with light coverage. I had been using Clinique's Perfectly Real, a creamier foundation. New Complexion, in comparisan, is much more watery. I glides well across the skin, and seems to melt into my skin nicely. The best part about the foundation is the fact that it is oil free, and makes skin look fresh and dewy (NOT matte, you will need power). However, keep in mind this is oil free-- it doesn't promise anything to cover acne or acne scars. Indeed, this foundation does poorly at covering flaws (dark circles, blemishes) but as long as you have a nice, full-coverage concealer for those areas, the foundation will make your skin glow. Shade reviewed: Creamy Beige, almost identical to the shade 02 in Clinique Perfectly Real.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Sweet Talk Mouth Watering Lip Gloss
rated 1 of 5
cherryshake290 4/19/2005 5:45:00 PM

This stuff is disgusting! Stay away! I hated this, it was thin, felt like sticky glue, and had a strange smell/taste, like it was trying hard to smell good. The consistancy is nothing like I've ever experienced, even in a sticky gloss like MAC Lipglass. The gloss is so thin that's it's like applying a film of sticky popsicle all over your lips. My mom bought me a gift set with all the shades, and I haven't used any of them more than once. Might swap!

Blush -Clinique - Sheer Powder Blusher- Wild Rose
rated 4 of 5
cherryshake290 3/24/2005 3:50:00 PM

I got Wild Rose as a GWP. I thought it wouldn't work, but I love it! I like how this blush is very buildable, and allows me to layer based on how much I would like to wear. A pretty, light mauvey color that looks suprisingly nice on my fair, neutral skintone.

Loose Powders -Clinique - Blended Face Powder and Brush
rated 2 of 5
cherryshake290 3/24/2005 3:49:00 PM

This powder is blendable and appears to have nice colors, but I didn't like it after wearing it all day! First of all, it has no shine control, and wears off after about 60-90 minutes. Then, after reapplying probably 3 times throughout the day, I came home and looked in the flourescent light of my bathroom to discover the color had built up on my cheeks and turned a strange orange color! :( Yuck! I'll stick to something else!

Polishes -Avon - Nailwear Nail Enamel Dusky Cherry
rated 4 of 5
cherryshake290 2/13/2005 1:13:00 PM

Avon has revamped their nail line, and this is one of the slimline bottles that easily fit the curve of your hand. In thr bottle, the polish appears exactly as it does on nails: a cool, dark red with a hint of scarlet. With a base coat, two coats, and a topcoat, chipping occurs after 3-4 days. I love this shade, reminds me of OPI's Bogota Blackberry.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 3 of 5
cherryshake290 2/13/2005 12:59:00 PM

I liked the idea for this product, and the wide shades of colors it came in, but when it comes down to it, this is not a great liquid for people with acne-prone skin. It is NOT oil free, causes breakouts, and makes skin slick and oily. Even the texture is slippery and oily. Color matched nice, but the formula wasn't right, and the packaging was bad! Glass bottle + wide opening = potential mess.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner
rated 2 of 5
cherryshake290 1/9/2005 11:04:00 AM

This product was terrible! I'm sorry to go against the other reviews, but the only thing I liked about the product was the brush and color. When I opened the product, some dried liner flakes from the cap-- a telltale sign of what later flaked from my eye! You get what you pay for with Wet'n'Wild.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
cherryshake290 1/9/2005 10:59:00 AM

I don't know if my search for the perfect waterproof mascara is over; but it's certainly getting there. This is the best product I have tried yet. Beats Almay, and Max Factor (Almay smudges pretty bad, and MF just flakes and is very difficult to remove). The formula makes eyes look more intense and lashes look plush. It doesn't flake when I apply, though it can get clumpy if you go too fast. The best part it, it ALMOST doesn't budge. After 8 very active hours, it remained on, with only tiny light gray shadows underneath my lowerlash line, as opposed to the dark smudges I've seen with other waterproofs. Would recommend this to anyone seeking the TRUE waterproof.
