Styling Products -Ojon - Tunu Hair Spray
cemjay 5/25/2007 5:40:00 AM
This is an pleasant general purpose hairspray! It worked as well for me as does Aveda's Pure Abundance strong hairspray only Tunu smells much better (less chemically) and imparts a true shine to my hair. It brushes out easily too. It holds flyway layers when my hair is up and it fixes it when its down. The can is large 300ml should last me a long time which is just as well as it is another of Ojon's Rare Harvest range which are limited releases all year round. I cannot comment on the price as I received mine in a QVC TSV (UK) last month. It smells fruity and that signature Ojon roasted coffee/chocolate scent. It does not linger (which is a shame I as love this fragrance). Importanly it also does not add product build-up to my hair. The can comes in a cardboard tube which is attractive but unnecessary packaging IMO so I have deducted a lippie based on that. If I can I will re-purchase.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
cemjay 5/25/2007 5:34:00 AM
I have been using this in conjunction with the great mystery in the mornings and this alone at night. I have oily/combination skin and I am 33 yo. I love how I can remove thoroughly all traces of make-up and deep cleanse in one step. It has meant I can jump into bed all that much quicker and not be bothered by a fussy night time routine! It smells fresh, lemon-y and very clean. Its quite a thick liquid and a little goes a long way; I use it neat on dry skin (for removing foundation and mascara) or on no-make-up days I use it mixed with some water. I have had a few small breakouts but I cannot distinguish if these are TOTM or due to a change in routine yet. I hope its not this as I am loving using it, the simplicity and convenience are outweighing a couple of blemishes at the moment! So for now I will give it 4 lippies. In the UK 16fl oz can cost between 27GBP and 31GBP so ebay and QVC are good places to try first!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Butterball Bath Bomb
cemjay 5/16/2007 3:44:00 PM
This is one of the first bath ballistics I tried from Lush way back in 1998 and one I keep buying all the time. It remains an all time great in my opinion, as other Lush ballistics come and go this stays tops! Its comforting, soothing and great to use when your skin is irritated and playing up. Its only small but it packs a big punch, well more like a big white fluffy towel warmed on the radiator type of hug. I also find it a wonderful product to use following a UTI outbreak (its so gentle and the sodium bicarb is great for those "water works" problems us ladies can get). Also most of Lush's ballistics are suitable for those allergic (ie sufferers of cystitis) to bubble bath products but this one is the most gentle and suitable of all in my own experience. the little bits of solid cocoa butter melt gently away as the [synthetic] musk and vanilla scent envelops you. Afterwards your skin is softened and moisturised and I never need to use a lotion! A great little treat!

Bath Treatments -Burt's Bees - Apricot baby oil
cemjay 5/16/2007 3:40:00 PM
Wonderful product with a heavenly delicious almost edible scent! I would love to use this all the time but its too hard to come by for me in the UK and also far too expensive, which is a great shame! One of my all time favourites body oils to use! Nourishes the skin and leaves it smooth and scented, what more can you ask for?? Well a cheaper price in the UK would be nice :)

Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
cemjay 5/16/2007 3:38:00 PM
I wanted this to work but sadly this was not suitable for my skin. I was in between brands (Liz Earle and Origins) and always wanted to try BB stuff. I have oily/combination skin and used this with a hot muslin cloth to remove it. It left me with congested pores and breakouts and I had to spend more money to replace it (it was £11 GBP). It smells really delicious but is too thick and sticky and greasy for my skin. Oddly enough philosophy's great mystery has that similar consistency yet that does not feel cloying or as greasy like the Orange Essence Cleanser did. Shame but its not for me.

Masks -Philosophy - The great mystery
cemjay 5/16/2007 3:21:00 PM
Why is this listed in the masks section as it a daily cleanser, well at least I think it is... Its not a scrub but it exfoliates and its not a mask but you can leave it on for a couple of minutes and it is a daily treatment - ha its the product which defies terminology and performs many tasks! Ok so you smear on a "generous" dollop all over dry clean facial skin (and neck and decollete), I use about half and inch worth to cover face, neck and decollete. You smooth it until the paste whitens and then massage into your skin, leave for 1 minute and rinse. You can rinse either with warm water and a cloth or use some Purity cleanser too. Its supposed to be deep cleansing and purifying and gentle enough to use every day. It does contain sea salt so watch your eyes and lips! It leaves my oily/combination skin refreshed, smoothed and soft all day long. Love it already so have selected that I will re-purchase! I am slowing becoming addicted to philosophy after resisting their lure for so long and their products are sure to become staples in my routine.

Conditioner -Ojon - Ultra Hydrating conditioner
cemjay 5/16/2007 6:55:00 AM
This is my wonder conditioner! I use this every time I wash my hair (either with the Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo or my regular Dove Anti-Dandruff shampoo) and I follow with this, leaving it on for about 1-3 minutes. It makes my hair feel lovely and soft, light and fresh; it more manageable too and take to blow drying and straightening much easier too. It keeps my hair straighter and fresher for 3 days (normally by day 3 I *need* to wash) or more. It has a light consistency and smells delicious, that Ojon signature scent but more vanilla and coconut-y I think. A little goes a long way and I think the 250ml bottle will last me for at least 3 months, hopefully longer as it is ridiculously expensive. I got mine in a QVC TSV (UK) but I think I will source ebay when I need to repurchase (which I will be doing).

Primer/ Corrector -Philosophy - The Present Clear Makeup
cemjay 5/15/2007 6:18:00 AM
I love using this product as it just smooths onto my skin effortlessly. I have oily/combination skin and so do not like wearing foundations. I cannot feel this when it is on my skin and to the touch my face feels smooth and soft. I cannot say it conceals the pores or lines any more than any other primer I have used (sephora, smashbox photo primer and the smashbox dermaxyl one) - hence the 4 lippies (if it did that I would not hesitate to give it 5) but it does seem to stem the oil production and it does make my complexion look "finished" and makes my skin feel flawlessly smooth. I was unsure but I think I will have to buy more... ...unless something else new and shiny catches my eye first :)

Hair -Ojon - Hydrating Styling Cream
cemjay 5/10/2007 1:12:00 PM
Another Ojon must have for me. This smooths down my hair, it takes it from dry and fried (following blow-drying and using straighening irons) to soft, healthy and smooth! It smells great, that nutty earthy smoky chocolatey signature Ojon scent, although I find that it does not stay scented in my hair (just in case there are people put off by the scent). I use it on towel dried hair (a 5p size dollop) and mix together the cream and Ojon microspheres then smooth it on my ends then any remaining residue on the roots. Following drying I add another small dollop just to the ends before using my straightening irons. Its great stuff! I have a 60ml travel size (in a tube) and a 125ml full (the pump version). The normal size (125ml) is about 20GBP but I got mine in a QVC TSV so look out for these value kits if you wish to try the range!

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Eye Shadow
cemjay 5/9/2007 11:15:00 AM
I currently use Wheat eye shadow to colour in my eyebrows and it is the only colour I have found that doesn't make my brows appear orange/ginger in certain lights (unlike Dior's Blonde eyebrow powder pencil,Chanel's and Smashbox's Blond)!! It has great staying power too and the pot looks as if it will last a good 9-12 months! I did not like the colour on my eyelids as it made me look a little red-eyed (hence i knocked off 1 lippie) but as an eyebrow colour it is fantastic!

Treatments -Ojon - Restorative Hair Treatment
cemjay 5/9/2007 11:10:00 AM
I know this has earned some mixed reviews but for me this the end of the line in my quest for the best haircare saver!!! This has blown my Kerastase out of the water!! This really is my HG product and I do not ever want to be without a little pot of this roasted chocolate/nutty sensational hair treatment! I use it once a week, leave it on overnight and wash out the next day using either Ojon's Ultra Hyrdating Shampoo and Conditioner for the best results or my old trusty Dove shampoo for better than good results! The restorative treatment softens, freshens, lightens my hair. The dullness disappears and the texture is amazing, I cannot stop touching my hair on Ojon days :) Also my hair stays smoother and straighter! The ends always look as if they have just had a fresh trim! I use a tiny amount following straightening to smooth flyaways and give a little bit of shine! I cannot recommend this product enough! For me, the only downsides are the cost and easy availability. Here in the UK it is QVC or Liberty's store in London. However thanks to Ebay it is easier to get hold of now ;) a 100ml pot should last about 20 treatments depending on the length of hair.

Skincare - Face -Philosophy - Hope and a Prayer
cemjay 5/9/2007 11:02:00 AM
I LOVE this product! i use it mixed in with my Dr Hauschka Moisturising Day Cream and it makes my complexion glow! Just under a level scoop (the scoop which comes with it) and I mix it in until it dissolves! On the day I do not use it I can see a difference! HAAP smooths it all out, it evens my skintone and overall makes me look healthy from within! I am not fretting over my open pores or fine lines as much which can only be a good thing!! So instead of me layering on the powders to make me glow (ie Benefit Dandelion or Dallas or my Guerlain Meteorites) this alone works wonders. I have only been using it for 3 weeks but I am hooked already and foresee me wanting to buy more! I had no tingling upon first application but philosophy do caution this may happen to some consumers. I might try mixing it with my eye cream for those days I need the extra effort :) Apparently the 7g bottle should last 6 months with daily use!

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Moisturizing Day Cream
cemjay 4/3/2007 6:08:00 AM
I have switched to this from Quince Day Cream for the Spring-Summer months and I am so glad I did! This is a wonderfully enlivening, rejuventating moisturiser! It sinks in easily, smells heavenly (its that distinctive herbal/floral scent) and the 100ml bottle will probably last me all year long! I swear my 33 yo oily/combination skin glows now, its fresher and feels light with no extra oilyness (as I did have midday with Quince)! This is a definite re-buy! Another must have for me from Dr Hauschka! I also plan to mix this daily with some Translucent Bronze Concentrate!!

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar
cemjay 3/23/2007 6:58:00 AM
I love this perfume but my other half detests it so I can only wear it when he has a severe cold!!! That said, I love wearing this especially in the spring/summer as its so sweet, yummy, pretty and uplifting. Its very sweet, almost heady so its an acquired taste ;) Previously I had only tried etailer dupes but now I own the real deal, a 50ml spray. I got mine from a UK site for 17.95GBP which is an absolute bargain! It comes in a long thin bottle, that is clear pink with darker pink swirls on the glass and is packaged in as pink and white swirled tube. So it looks ultra girlie and cutesy! Its a long lasting scent and I can usually get away with one spritz!! Some people love it (one person said I smell like sweets) others think its revolting (in my experience mostly men) but if you enjoy wearing it and love the smell then go for it!! I love to smell it on other people though (it seems to smell much nicer too) and I can live vicariously through my sister to whom I have donated this bottle lol! My advice would be to try an etailer dupe first before splashing out on the perfume or maybe try one of the PS body products ;) I won't be buying it again as I'd rather not repulse my husband!!

Loose Powders -Dr. Hauschka - Dr. Hauschka Loose powder
cemjay 3/14/2007 1:38:00 PM
This is superb! It has replaced BE MIneral Veil in my affections especially as in the UK I can get this cheaper than the BE!! Its a light fresh trnaslucent powder that absorbs my oil effortlessly and leaves me with a finished look. Its scent is reminiscent of old fashioned make-up, a bit rosey perhaps? Reminds me of the scent of the powder compact my Nan used to have and I played with as a child! I wear this over my Avon Face Perfecting Duo and its all I need! The container is black with a translucent plastic "strainer" on top to dispense your powder and comes with a puff. I am not bothered about the packaging (its better than the BE in my opinion) and the pot lasts for ages! It costs £18 in the UK but you can get cheaper on ebay (where I got mine). A definite keeper and I will repurchase!
