Lipstick -NYX - Lipstick (In General)

This review is about Round Lipsticks only, because I haven't tried other NYX l/s yet. But I'm going to try Black Label for sure. Recently I ordered 18 Round Lipsticks on ebay, they were about $2.50 each with international shipping. I bought such cheap lipsticks when I was very young and haven't money for something better. But now I usually buy high end makeup - Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and so on. So WHY did I bought these cheappies? First of all, I was excited to try some new colors which I normally do not wear. And I'm very glad to say that NYX Round Lipsticks are great for that!!! I love about a half of 18 colors I have, and many of them I would never dare to buy for $25 or more. I discovered that I CAN wear mauves and browns, at least some of them. Also I found out that pinks, especially bright ones, make me look... well, like a whore :) Very useful experience, really. I never could try so many lipsticks at once. Secondly, I thought that Round Lipsticks may be not bad if so many people love them. I mean the quality. And I have to say that RL failed this test. They smell and taste TERRIBLE - something chemical, like soap or even worse. They have a strange, very thin and slippery texture, so when I apply them on my lips I feel it like soap again! Some of the lipsticks I received look very cheap on the lips (both color and texture). Their staying power is so-so, but I don't mind it - I'm not in for long wear lipsticks. I don't mind plastic packaging too - in fact, it looks nice. But this soapy taste... I HATE it, and it's very sad, because I LOVE many of the colors!!! I'm not a snob, believe me, but I'm sure that Round Lipsticks cannot be compared with high end brands. Not because they are cheap, but because they are worse. I'm not even sure that I can wear them (but I'll try!). Overall it was interesting to try them. Perhaps I will even buy some more - if I can make peace with their taste and smell. And, as I said before, I would love to try Black Label ones. You can see all the colors I have on swatches in my pictures.

Lipstick -NYX - round lipstick- saturn
rated 5 of 5
celticat 11/28/2010 11:27:00 AM

This color is a lighter and pinkier version of Topaz. I swatched them together, and they look very similar. I don't agree that this is an ordinary mauve color - it has some warm brownish tones. I normally can't wear mauves, because they are too cold and I look dead. But Saturn looks perfect on me. It's not so cold, almost neutral color. I'm so glad that I ordered it inspite of lack of swatches! Hope it helps :)

Lipstick -NYX - Topaz
rated 5 of 5
celticat 11/28/2010 11:12:00 AM

This color is wonderful and very special! As other reviewers already mentioned, it's almost impossible to describe. Topaz is not an ordinary berry, or mauve, or brown - it's really a complex color. I'm very pale, and I always thought that I cannot wear such dark colours. But how wrong I was! Topaz looks incredible on me - so flattering! I've swatched Topaz on my hand - you can see it on the picture above - but it doesn't look so good on swatch. This magic works only on your lips :))) There's another color I've got and swatched together with Topaz; it's called Saturn. Great color too, somewhat similar with Topaz, but lighter and more pinky. If you think that Topaz is too dark, I suggest you to try Saturn. I love them both!

Lipstick -NYX - Fig
rated 5 of 5
celticat 11/28/2010 10:48:00 AM

I recently ordered 18 Round Lipsticks, and there's no doubt that Fig is one of the best colors I've got. It's almost MLBB, just a little brighter, beautiful mat shade. I think this color is great for pale girls (I'm VERY pale, always had problems finding a foundation or powder). There's another color I've got and swatched on my hand together with Fig - they look very similar. It's called Tea Rose, and I love it too. Fig is slightly darker, brighter and warmer than Tea Rose. Both lipsticks are very flattering. I suggest you to try these.

I recently ordered 18 Round Lipsticks, and there's no doubt that Tea Rose is one of the best colors I've got. It's MLBB, very tender mat shade, makes me look like an angel. Lipstick -NYX - Frosted Beige
rated 4 of 5
celticat 11/27/2010 12:00:00 PM

I've got five light beiges and nudes in my large order of NYX RL. I swatched all five on my hand, and they look so beauiful! But on my lips they are almost the same shade. Rather disappointing. Only two of these, Earth Angel and Frosted Beige, are slightly different. Even on my hand you can see that Frosted Beige is the most pinky shade of all. On my lips it's even more pink, neutral, almost cold! Not sure why, maybe because it's very frosty, or because my lips are so pigmented. I would never call this a coral! Anyway, it's cute, but to me - nothing special. I've seen lots of similar colors before.

Lipstick -NYX - Ceto
rated 3 of 5
celticat 11/27/2010 11:43:00 AM

On my hand Ceto looks very similar to Chambord and Darling. On my lips these three lipsticks are almost impossible to tell one from the other. All of them are very sheer and frosty. NYX lipglosses have more color than these lipsticks. They are nice, but very ordinary. Chambord to my mind is the best of these three, because it's darker and has more vibrant color. Ceto and Darling on my lips are too pale and dull.

Lipstick -NYX - Earth Angel
rated 4 of 5
celticat 11/27/2010 11:12:00 AM

I've got five light beiges and nudes in my large order of NYX RL, and Earth Angel is my favorite among them. I swatched all five on my hand, and they look so beauiful! But on my lips they are almost the same shade. Rather disappointing. Only two of these, Earth Angel and Frosted Beige, are slightly different. Earth Angel is golden beige, very metallic (or should I say "frosty"?). It looks flattering with my pale skin and blond hair. It's cute, but I don't think I'd buy it again - there are so many other interesting shades to try!

Treatments -Guinot - Pure balance serum

I'm totally agree with previous reviewer - this serum is almost useless. Yes, it does SOMETHING, but you can find much better stuff for less. Will not repurchase.

Skincare - Face -Guinot - Longue Vie Cellulaire
rated 5 of 5
celticat 11/23/2010 10:41:00 PM

This is my HG, at last found!!! Simply gorgeous! The jar looks fantastic, reminds me of flying saucer :) The smell is very pleasant, rather strong, luxurious. The texture is very thick - at first I was afraid it's too thick, 'cause I hate this heavy feeling on my skin. But no! All you combo and problem skin ladies, you shouldn't fear! This stuff melts into skin like HEAVEN. It's hard to believe, but it completely disappears, leaving my skin velvety smooth, soft and healthy. I'm using Longue Vie Cellulaire for a year now. After the first month I saw a dramatic improvement in my skin's condition. It became stronger, firmer, more supple. My skintone is better now too - more even and healthy looking. And another point - this moisturizer makes my skin regenerate much faster! Those ugly little pimples (alas, we all have them sometimes) disapper in 1-2 days, while it took a week before. Occasional scratches or other damages, like chapped lips, are healed in no time at all. I wonder, what did they put in this stuff - it's pure MAGIC! Please, give it a try if you can! It's not cheap ($74 on strawberry.net, much less in small sample tubes on ebay), but I swear it's something special. And by the way, a little goes a long way. You simply don't need that much because of it's consistence. Will I repurchase? Oh, YES!!!

Skincare - Face -Guinot - 1 step cleansing water
rated 4 of 5
celticat 11/23/2010 9:50:00 PM

First of all I must say that I never use any waterproof makeup. So I can't tell you if this product removes it or not. But I personally think that it's not what it was made for. It's just a toner that you can use for your eyes too. And it removes dirt and non-waterproof makeup pretty well. This stuff is very good for travelling, when you cannot take dozen of bottles with you. It's very mild, non-irritating, but it's not "simply a water". It smells very nice - white flowers or something like that. I'm not sure if I repurchase it, but it's definitely not bad.

Treatments (Eye) -Guinot - Hydrazone Yeux
rated 5 of 5
celticat 11/23/2010 9:30:00 PM

This product is simply the best for moisturizing! It makes your eyes feel so good all day long. The texture is lovely, not oily or sticky at all, very lightweight. It has a faint smell, which is very pleasant and not overwhelming. The packaging is great too; pump works well and you don't waste anything. And you need just a tiny drop of it. I think the price ($40) is OK. There are lots of more expensive eye treatments that I found useless or even worse...

Moisturizers -Guinot - Hydrazone Moisturizing Cream - All Skin Types
rated 2 of 5
celticat 11/23/2010 9:11:00 PM

This is the only product by Guinot that I don't like at all. I wanted it to be light, sheer, tender and not very oily. But it was heavy, not oily, but waxy, so-so moisturizing and very bad for my skin. I stopped to use it and gave it away after it made me breakout and clogged my pores. It contains lots of sylicones, I suppose. Will not buy again and don't recommend to people with acne-prone skin.
