Cleansers -Olay - Clarity Foaming Face Wash

Salicylic acid has never done much for me, so I had lost faith in those products. But this is so much better than other cleansers I've used. It must be the dual hydroxy thing, or the aloe, or green tea. I don't know, but it works great. Takes off my makeup, doesn't leave my skin tight, and I've noticed that my skin is clearer. I still get the occasional pimple or two, but they're much smaller now. Right now, I'm using this plus my Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Palmer's Eventone Mask.

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat

I'm confused. I must be the only one... Let's see, I have dark brown hair and light/medium skin. I was going to buy Orgasm, but thought it to be too pink and sparkly. Deep Throat is too sparkly, period. I can barely see the color on my skin- just a bunch of sparkle. I remember the NARS lady telling me I should layer it over another blush. Right.... I think I'll stick to my CoverGirl RoseSilk. So much better and so much cheaper! What a waste of $20.

Concealers -MAC - select cover-up
rated 3 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 10:27:00 PM

I normally don't wear concealer, but this is the best one I've tried. Yet, the color is wrong for me. The makeup artist at the MAC counter gave me a color that was a bit too dark- NW25. Nevertheless, it gives good coverage. I might go back and buy a color better suited for my skin.

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers Blush in Rose Silk
rated 5 of 5

My fave! I use this basically 365 days a year. I've tried so many colors and brands, but I always come back to Rose Silk. It's a lovely color that complements my light/medium skin well. Plus, it's cheap.

Hair -KMS California - beachhead

UPDATE: Awww, now I miss this product. I think its been discontinued. I have like a pool of product left, and I'm using it to the last drop. I like the smell, especially on days when I don't shampoo my hair. It's like hair perfume. And it disguises the oiliness and gives some lift to the roots. My bottle is running out and I'm not sure if I'll buy it again. The very first time I used it, the results were amazing- tousled, messy hair. I don't know what I do wrong, but I haven't been able to get the same results. It doesn't do anything whether I air-dry, blow-dry, scrunch, etc. Now, I just spray it on my roots whenever they get greasy. It soaks up some of the oil. I think it smells ok. I haven't been able to find the perfect texture product.

Skincare - Body -Almay - bare-it all legs
rated 3 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 9:46:00 PM

My opinion is mixed over this product. I haven't tried the Sally Hansen one yet, so I can't compare the two. First of all, it's not cheap. The Sally Hansen one and this one is about the same price. I bought the Golden Veil color. This gives some color to my pale, yellowish skin. I wish it gave a bit more "glow" and coverage, though. My scars and red dots on my legs are still visible. On the other hand, it's fairly easy to apply. No streaks if you rub it in well. Hasn't transferred onto my clothes either. Not sure if I'd buy it again. I just wore a white tank top and now the tank top has brown edges... So it does smear. Be careful when wearing white.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue
rated 5 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 9:25:00 PM

The BEST! It reminds me of a Moschino perfume- the one with the weird orange and blue bottle, but somehow, I like Light Blue better. It is my favorite. I'm on my 2nd one. I call it my "citrus". It's very recognizable. Even when I think the scent has worn off, someone will smell me, and be like, "Are you wearing D&G?"

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
rated 2 of 5

I'm still looking for an HG mascara...It's not this one. It worked fine for awhile. Nice and separated lashes. No curl, just a bit of length and volume. Then it started clumping. I'm still wearing it, but I apply it sparsely. Now it just gives me a wee bit of defintion.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Sensitive Skin Deep Action Cream Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 9:11:00 PM

I read that this was a good cleanser for combination skin. It's ok. It reminds me of Cetaphil - creamy, not lathering, and doesn't seem to take much stuff off your face. I like Cetaphil better, though. With this, I'll use pore strips after, and I'll find makeup residue still on the strips. Since I alternate cleansers frequently, I can't really explain the burst of breakouts I've been getting.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Drama Clean refreshing shampoo
rated 3 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 9:04:00 PM

Just another ok shampoo. I am on the lookout for a good clarifying shampoo, and I saw this one in a magazine, so I decided to buy it. It's cheap too. Leaves my hair clean, smells good, but that's about it. I haven't noticed a change in the condition of my hair. Like with any other shampoo, my hair gets oily the next day. But at least it doesn't leave it oily the first day. If I don't find a better clarifying shampoo, I'll continue to buy this one.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 8:34:00 PM

In the winter, I love this stuff. In the summer, it doesn't do much for me. It doesn't remove makeup, but it does leave your skin soft. I have combination skin, and have tried all kinds of products. The SIMPLE stuff works. I find that this leaves my skin nice and clear.

Cleansers -Biore - PORE PERFECT Warming anti-blackhead cream cleanser
rated 1 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 8:11:00 PM

I would never buy this in the first place. For some odd reason, my mom bought it. "It's Biore. Oh, it's warming! It'll take away your blackheades." I only use it when I go home on the weekends, and I forget to bring my cleanser from my dorm. It has the grossest feel- thick and goopy. You slather this on your face and try to rub it in good, and it gets warm quickly. I would never want a warming cleanser. I want to real refreshed, not hot. It's done nothing to improve my complexion, but then again, I rarely use it.

I finished the whole thing, which says alot, but I'm not tempted to buy another one. I've found my perfume of choice : Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue. I think Metro smells good, but there are better ones out there.

Hair Styling Tools -Solano - Sapphire Collection Professional Straightening Iron
rated 4 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 7:56:00 PM

I've had this iron for a long time. I also have the CHI, but I prefer my blue Solano. The CHI I own has too small plates, and I get tired with it. This iron has perfect sized plates, so I can straighten quicker. My hair is naturally straight, but not stick straight. Whenever it gets poofy, I straighten it. It does a great job, but lately I've been noticing that my hair gets frizzy again. Maybe it's the styling product I use. I haven't noticed the difference between the damage caused by my irons- they all fry hair to some extent or another. In a couple of months, I'll have split ends. I try not to iron too much. I don't see what's heavy or cumbersome about it. I straighten my own hair fine, and I don't need to iron my roots either. But I am curious to try another iron out there. Whenever this one quits working, I might buy another one.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Lotion
rated 2 of 5
benandjerrys 12/12/2006 5:37:00 PM

I bought this 'cause of the hype. It's supposedly a miracle product. We got a MB catalog in the mail, and called the number. My mom tried it and gave it to me. I still have it. It has its good days and its bad days. Sometimes, it does nothing, and sometimes it shrinks the pimple a bit. I've learned to put a Band-Aid on top, or else it'll rub off. The packaging is awful. I'm scared to break the glass container. Plus, it doesn't do good while traveling, since you can't mix the alcohol and pink stuff. I currently have about 75% alcohol and 25% pink stuff. In the morning, the area around my pimple is flaky dry, so I have to moisturize a bit. It's expensive, so I'd rather buy something that I can get at the store- cheaper, convenient, and more reliable. I'm still looking for a miracle product... Any ideas?
