Lotions/ Creams -Coppertone - Coppertone Aftersun Cool Beads
azn_babay_kat 6/18/2006 8:51:00 PM
This is such a wonderful product, it's too bad that it's seasonal.
It's targetted to the kids market, but it is the only drugstore aloe gel out that that uses pure aloe gel, not the green kind that is aloe with its leaves, therefore the soothing and moisturizing qualities are much much higher!
The price is a little more expensive than other aloe gel out there, but the quality is much better. It has a nice fruity mango scent, and vitamin a and e beads that dissolve into your skin. It is a godsend for sunburn and after sun dryness. It is cooling and even better if you put it in the fridge for a bit. It rehydrates your skin without greasiness and is great for summer when you don't want a sticky moisturizer.

Skincare - Body -Hawaiian Tropic - Aloe I.C.E.
azn_babay_kat 6/4/2006 8:38:00 PM
This stuff is actually pretty decent for a sunburn. When your skin is burnt, the most important thing you have to do is moisturize. Aloe is known for its moisturizing and soothing properties, so this is a great product for that. The price is great too.
Just some tips for sunburn: take a 15-20 min bath in cool, NOT COLD water eery 2-4 hours. Water that is too cold will actually prohibit your body to release heat, and causing the sunburn to heal slower. Moisturize more than you think you ever need to. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate yourself. Use novocaine or any -caine product if the pain is unbearable.

Skincare - Body -Hawaiian Tropic - Dark Tanning Oil
azn_babay_kat 6/4/2006 8:34:00 PM
This stuff is awful if you actually try to use it as a tanning accelerator. Mineral oil is the worst for actually trying to achieve a good tan, because it actually does not allow your skin to be receptive of UV rays. If you want a good tanning lotion that is "tanner safe", look for some Australian Gold or Carribean Attitude products, they are affordable, and have the necessary ingredients for you to achieve a good tan (aloe based, rather than mineral oil based).
PSA: Please DO NOT use this on tanning beds, the mineral oil in it will DESTROY acrylics, which are very expensive to replace.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Pedicure in a Minute
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 2:09:00 PM
An overrated ineffective scrub. you could mix salt/sugar with olive oil and some peach essential oil for the same product.
The scrubs are not big enough for feet and rough skin, and it really does not get rid of any of those drier skin on your heel. It is great for hands though. I don't feel like my feet are any smoother, I might as well just use pumice stone and slather on moisturizer. And the tube is tiny, and the price is rather steep for an ineffective product, especially advertised as for pedicures.

Moisturizers -Garnier - Skin Naturals Soft 24-Hour Nourishing Day Cream
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 2:03:00 PM
This is one of the best drugstore products ever.
As a day cream, it is rather insignificant as it does not contain a sunscreen, but it is great for people with sensitive skin who might be allergic to some sunscreen ingredients. This is one of the best moisturizer out there for us normal/dry skin girls that is NOT oil based. let's face it, we want to moisturize our skin, and most mineral oil based lotion only works as a moisture barrier, and does not really hydrate your skin. This is a fast aborbing lotion that is great for under makeup. Saying that it is 24 hr is really exaggerating it, but it does work well as far as moisturization wise as I do not feel that I need to reapply until my night time cleansing routine. The scent is pleasant and the fragrance does not irritate my skin. I use it as a day cream for summer and it is great because it does not make my skin oily. Because it is so cheap, I sometimes use it as a body lotion as well because it is great for those drier areas on your body.

Toners -Garnier - Synergie Pure Pore Purifying Astringent
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 1:58:00 PM
PSA: This is an astringent, so therefore it DOES contain alcohol, so please DO NOT use it if you have dry/sensitive skin.
I do have tanned/normal-dry skin, so this is really not the best product for me, however, i love it for other reasons than as a toner. It dries out my skin way too much as a toner, but I love it as an astringent for my t-zone area, espeically post extractions as it does contain BHA which is great for exfoliating your pores.
I also use it on my bikini line after waxing, as it does help to prevent ingrown hair. Otherwise, dry/sensitive skinned girls, stay away from this for your face. And because of its high alcohol content, it does sting quite bad, so I took a lippie off of this.

Cleansers -Garnier - Skin Naturals Pure Daily Cleansing Gel
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 1:54:00 PM
This product is GREAT if you have combo/oily skin that needs the extra cleansing. Yes, because of the menthol in it, it does stings your eyes a little, so try not to let it get too close to them.
I have tanned/normal-dry skin, but I LOVE this cleanser for days when I have extra makeup on and need a deep cleansing. It has a cucumber-menthol scent, and my skin feels VERY clean after using it. Please, it is a little drying, so don't use it on daily basis if you have normal or dry skin, as it is designed for oilier skin types. It removes all makeup, and is great for prepping skin for masks/treatment as your skin is so clean that it will absorbed everything.

Toners -Garnier - Fresh Toner
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 1:51:00 PM
Fabulous quality for the price!
If you are looking for an affordable toner that does not sting, is alcohol free, and removes makeup residue, this is a great product for you. I have tanned/normal-dry skin and this does not dry out my skin or strip it like an astringent.
I use this every night to remove traces of makeup that the cleanser did not get, and it works like a charm. It seriously is a great basic toner that does everything that a toner should do. I know this is for normal/combo skin, but my normal/dry skin loves it because it does not seem to dehyrate it like other toners do. The scent is a pleasant fruity scent that is great for summer. The price is great as well.

Cleansers -Garnier - Fresh Cleansing Gel
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 1:47:00 PM
For those that do not like this product, it is designed for normal/combo skin, and you would probably want to try the cleaning lotion for dry skin.
I LOVE this cleansing gel. I used to use Dermalogica cleansers and had great luck with them, but they are a little pricey, and let's face it, cleansers are one of those things that you really don't need to spend a lot of money on, because they essentially have the same ingredients, and only function as a cleansing agent.
This is a foaming cleansing gel that is similar to many products on the market, but it does not have BHA or AHA, which is important if you just want a plain, simple cleanser that takes off makeup and cleans. I like it for this reason. I have tanned/normal-dry skin, so my skin is dehydrated at times because of my tanning habits, but it gets oily around my t-zone in the summer. I love this as a day/night time cleanser because it really does make my skin feel clean without stripping it, and it removes most makeup that is not waterproof. It has a pleasant scent, and is great for summer.

Moisturizers -Lise Watier - Hydra-Temps Eclat Plus Radience Moisturizing Day Creme for Dry Skin
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 1:40:00 PM
Wow. This is a great moisturizer quality wise and price wise. My former HG is Darphon Avorita C, which is almost $150 a pop. Contrary to its aim as a day creme, I found it great as both a day cream for winter and night cream for summer. I have tanned/dry-normal skin so I still need a moisturizer for summer time as my skin does get dehyrated from tanning and air conditioning. Just like the other products in this line, it has a refreshing and pleasant green apple scent. The texture is a water based cream, which is thicker than the creme/gel night creme in its sister product for normal/combo skin. It absorbs VERY quickly, and gives a dewy but not oily finish to the skin. When I was in Alberta my skin was very dehydrated and dry, and this cream in combination with Clinique Moisture Surge saved my flaky skin due to the harsh weather. I use it as a night cream in the summer and it does its job quite well , providing enough moisture without being too oily. It is a little pricey, but comparing to Darphin Avorita C which I used to use, this gives similar results moisturization wise(except this does not contain Retinol, so I need to find another anti-aging serum for that), and has definitely replaced it now that I can't really afford to buy all these fancy cream.

Moisturizers -Lise Watier - Hydra-temps Night Cream-gel
azn_babay_kat 6/2/2006 1:30:00 PM
Lise Watier's skincare line is WAY too underrated. This is a cream-gel which is great as a spring/summer moisturizer for day time and night time for normal/combo skin. It has a great green apple scent which is SO refreshing and and pleasant summer. The texture is similar to many gel-cream on the market, like Loreal Hydrafresh, but it has great moisturizing qualities. I find it great under makeup as it absorbs quickly and does not leave an oily film. It is definitely moisturizing enough if you have normal/combo or even slightly oily skin. Took one lippie off because there are many similar products on the market that are cheaper but provide similar results, otherwise, it is a good product.

Blush -Paula Dorf - Cha Cha cheek color cream
azn_babay_kat 4/24/2005 10:38:00 AM
I have totally given up on makeup lately. Hello. My MAC palettes have been untouched for a month :P I dont know what has gotten into me, so I'm just gonna blame it on laziness.
Inspite of the 239i327139 blushes I have, i decided i need one that universally flattering, one that i can just put on in 2 sec and leave the house without looking at the mirror, without being scared that I have blush on my forehead, or somewhere equally embarassing.
So i went browsing at Sephora, and found this baby.
Well, the colour is great, corally peachy pink yadayada nothing special (DAMN IT. i said i WANTED something normal!), and nothing to write home about either, so i bought it and ran out of that passive aggressive makeup heaven.
so there you know, the colour is nothing special, but it works. the texture is nothing special either, a little bit drying for my taste, but im just complaining because that means i actually have to blend it in (yikes, the effort!!!). if you are looking for a blush that does something for your cheeks and you happen to be a Very Lazy Person. buy ths.

Blush -Cargo - Mendocino
azn_babay_kat 9/27/2004 11:59:00 AM
This blush is pretty complex I think, it is sort of a clone between Sin/Orgasm/Mata Hari (in the language of NARS :P). Okay, so it is this rosey/peachy/mauve with a hint of brown, and the standard gold shimmen that all Cargo blushes seem to have. First glance this seems like the perfect blush colour, kinda like the J Lo. kinda multicolour blush.
I do like this colour, if it didn't make me so sparkly. I mean, shimmer is pretty on cheeks, but when your face is literally reflecting sunlight, that's when you know something is way too damn shimmery. I suppose if I wear this and walk around in the dark, I could glow too. preventing traffic accidents and all.
If only they had a non shimmer version of this colour. boo hoo.

Conditioner -A/G - fastfood

Dude. I love this stuff.
My hair has been curled, straightened, permed, bleached, re-coloured to death, so it looks ugly and frizzy and ugh.
Then my stylist used this on me. now my hair smells yum *consumes hair in vast quantities*, and is uber soft but not greasy.
best of all, this stuff is like, 7 bucks, and you only need a little before blowdrying and styling. such a good deal. and when you have fugly hair like mine, you need it.

Misc Beauty Tools -BeneFit Cosmetics - Eyelash Curler
azn_babay_kat 8/18/2004 4:40:00 AM
So, i dropped my 3yr old Shu curler, and decided that i needed a new one. I didn't want to be oh-so-boring and buy a Shiseido or Shu, sO i bought this one. yah, it was a great curler and all, only if the top didn't come off after less than 4 months. grrr. I mean, when i buy a curler, i expect it to outlive me and become a family heirloom. 4 months? thats even shorter than my longest relationship. In conclusion, this is a nice curler, but it sucks because it died quick :P
