Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush

I was extremely excited to try this product. I'd been wanting it for a while. It is beautiful in the pan but I was disappointed when I tried it - it seemed I really had to pile it on to even see a hint of colour on my cheeks. The shade is very pretty, though, once I manage to apply enough. The shimmer is pretty as well but not something I would prefer for everyday wear. Packaging is great, nice large mirror in the compact and the case has a unique velvety matte finish. To be honest, this blush is identical to The Body Shop's blush in "Golden Pink", which is much cheaper at $13 CDN. I like the NARS blush but cannot justify buying it again at its price.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream
alyria 12/4/2005 11:38:00 PM
This stuff is fabulous. I've already gone through several tubes. It has a really nice baby powder/shea butter smell, and has a rich, buttery consistency. Considering its richness, it spreads easily and soaks into the skin really well. I use it during the day and before I go to bed and it leaves my hands super soft. The Nail and Cuticle Cream partners nicely with the Hand Cream. I prefer the 30mL mini tubes to the 150mL tubes because I find the cream in the larger tubes does lose its buttery-ness after awhile. The 30mL tubes are "fresher" - plus they can easily be slipped into the purse. The packaging is pretty at first but the tubes can look quite beat-up after some use. The lids can be hard to put back on after applying the cream and I've dropped them several times doing so. A flip lid would be better but it probably wouldn't go very well with the L'Occitane traditional feel. It's definately pricey but overall an EXCELLENT product - try it, you'll be glad you did!

Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - My Favorite Lip Balm
alyria 11/23/2005 11:23:00 PM
My favourite thing about this product would have to be its consistency. I own the squeeze tube version. It's not too gooey or sticky, nor is it of a watery consistency - it's almost jelly-like. Feels very light. Although it isn't high on the moisturizing scale, it does prevent chapped lips and gives a nice shine. And it has a very natural smell - kind of like cookies. However, although the product is advertised to be able to be worn under or over lipcolour, it's too slick to be worn under lipcolour. The squeeze tube can get a little messy if it leaks into the cap, but so far I haven't had any spills. But - and I have found this happens with other products too and it's becoming a pet peeve! - once you're running low on the balm, the packaging is a little inconvenient because it doesn't stay "squeezed" like a tube of toothpaste does. I have to squeeze carefully from the bottom-up each time when I'm more than halfway done my current tube. Anyways, very reasonable price. Don't know if I would repurchase because I don't live in the U.S. so I can't get this here, and it didn't qualify as HG. I'm sure there are many other HG-worthy lip balms out there!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
alyria 11/23/2005 11:10:00 PM
I have skin that gets EXTREMELY oily throughout the day, resulting in my eyeshadow melting off within hours of application. I've tried other primers/bases such as Benefit's F.Y. Eye and MAC's Paints but this one has BY FAR THE BEST staying power. And that's saying a lot for me! It dries quickly and provides a nice thin base, so eyeshadow doesn't cake and it also intensifies the colour. I would prefer a squeeze tube since I don't actually use the wand to apply the product directly onto my eye. I dab the wand on my fingers and then use my fingers to apply it. Even though my oily eyelids win the battle by the end of the day (after about 8 - 10 hours of wear), this has excellent staying power and is definately better than anything else I've tried!

Scrubs -The Body Shop - Pumice Foot Scrub
alyria 11/23/2005 11:01:00 PM
This scrub is great all-year round and especially in the summertime! I love the fresh peppermint smell and the peppermint oil in it cools and refreshes my feet, as well as softens them. There's no residue after rinsing. The pumice is a nice consistency; not too rough or abrasive. The packaging could be improved, though - such as a squeeze tube, since opening/closing the lid of the jar can get messy and if your hands are wet, water easily gets inside as you are scooping more product out of the jar.

Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - Benefiance Revitalizing Eye Cream [DISCONTINUED]
alyria 11/23/2005 10:53:00 PM
I was looking for a very rich eye cream, and this is definitely it! I found it didn't absorb into my skin very well. If I were to touch my eye maybe 4 hours after applying it, I would still feel a layer of cream. However, it quenched my dry eyelids. I didn't notice a huge difference but it did what I needed it to do. It also left a nice golden luminescent glow, so for those of you who use it in the morning (I used it at night), it brightens your eye area. The packaging was a little silly - I think a squeeze tube would be more economical. The lid was asymmetrical and a bit cumbersome, and I kept misplacing the accompanying spatula. Also, it was quite expensive. Overall a nice eye cream, but I think I could get something better for a lower price.
