Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Syrup
Veritas709 2/8/2006 3:34:00 AM
I was hoping that this would be like Clinique's Honey, but it turned out more pink than I wanted. To me, it's just ok, like I said it looks a bit too pink on me. It's a very feminine and unless you wear pink or purplish clothes, I don't think it's really an everyday kinda color. I do love the lustres texture and smell. For reference, I'm NC37.

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - Foundation Brush #43
Veritas709 1/10/2006 4:34:00 AM
This is one of my least favorite Trish McEnvoy brush. I have about 12 brushes by her and I love them but this one is too floppy as a foundation brush. I tried MAC before but returned it since I got this one. I like the MAC brush more b/c it's denser. I guess I'm getting the MAC one again. I do love the lucite handles on Trish Mcenvoy brushes - so clean and modern looking!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Viva Glam V Lipglass
Veritas709 1/6/2006 12:38:00 AM
I finally succumb and got this. I hesitate in getting it because the lipstick doesn't look good on me. I wanted to like Viva Glam V l/s so badly but it looks so boring on me. To my surprise, the lipglass version is so much better! It has enough color, gloss and shimmer. So glad I gave it a chance.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Beauty Marked
Veritas709 12/30/2005 3:26:00 AM
I had this for a couple of years now. I hardly use it b/c it's such a hard color to use if you don't do it right. I first got it b/c the M/U artist was doing a smokey eye on me. I neglected it for a year or so b/c I couldn't duplicate what she did. I recently tried it again and to my surprise I really like it now. I pair it with Trax and used both of them wet so the shimmers show through. It also looked really pretty with gold liner around the inner eyes.

Blush -MAC - Buff
Veritas709 12/30/2005 3:18:00 AM
Doesn't look very exciting in the container but gives my NC37-40 skin a very subtle healthy look. It lasts all day for me. Glad the M/U artist tried it on me.

Hair Styling Tools -Sedu - Ionic Ceramic Professional Flat Iron (Original)
Veritas709 12/3/2005 8:32:00 PM
I've just received this yesterday and was so excited to use it. This is my first true ceramic professional flatiron so I can't compare with other pro ones. This is so awesome compared to my cheaper ones. I've had 3 other cheap ones, 1 plain metal one which really fried my hair, made it look so dry and frizzy. My other 2s are ceramic coated, Conair & Vidal Sassoon. I thought the Vidal Sassoon one was decent until I notice all these gunk, I guess from my hair product started to build up on it. I tried to scrape it off and ceramic coating comes off. Anyway I finally decided to try the Sedu after reading all the reviews on Folica.com. What concerned me was that it was going to be too hot. It seems like people are complaining about that. I didn't see a big problem with this. As long as you hold the handle, you should be ok. What I like about this flatiron is that the plates are soooo smooth, I only need to glide through my hair once - no nagging or pulling on my hair. I also like how light it is, makes it so much easier to manuever. The result: totally straight, smooth, soft, shiny hair. I do notice the difference between this one and my cheaper ones. My hair comes out alot more smoother and sleeker and stays that way longer. I love it so far, will follow up in a few months...

Styling Products -Rusk - IR Shine Spray
Veritas709 11/30/2005 1:36:00 AM
I prefer this over Sleek.Look Iron Smoother. To compare I use IR Shine on one side and Sleek.Look on the other then I flat iron my hair. IR Shine area is more smoother and stay straighter longer. I like the fine mist of the aerosol spray than the sleek.Look regular pump spray. The consistency seems silky whereas Sleek.Look feels like there are more alcohol in it. It also smells better to me than Sleek.Look. I would buy it again but not many beauty supply store seems to carry this. =(

Shampoo -KMS California - Flat Out Shampoo
Veritas709 11/27/2005 6:52:00 AM
This shampoo & conditioner don't wow me, but I'm not too disappointed with them either. I'm still indecisive whether I want to continue with this line or not. They do seem to make my hair less frizzy but so does other smoothing shampoos/conditioner. I think these products are just average. I do like the berry smell and it detangles my hair well, I haven't seen much hair falling out either like some other brands I've tried.

Shampoo -Sebastian - Laminates Sheer Shampoo
Veritas709 11/27/2005 6:38:00 AM
I got the shampoo & conditioner just because the bottles look so pretty with the gold color, and the name sounds so nice. I have to say I was so disappointed with this product. I was hoping for shiny volumous hair but I didn't notice that much more shine than any other shampoo I've tried. Also, I have long straight but manageable hair and I noticed that this conditioner isn't moisturized enough to detangle my hair and I end up ripping my hair out when I try to comb it. Although I do like the smell, these were a waste of $$$ for me.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Cream Eyeshadow in Gotham
Veritas709 11/20/2005 11:46:00 PM
I absolutely love this eyeshadow. It is the only black eyeshadow I own that last the whole day, no fading, no smearing, nothing. It can go on lightly or really dark whatever look you want to achieve. I love it that it has microsparkle so it doesn't look dull. The only thing I didn't like was that you have to spread it quickly otherwise once it dried it's hard to blend. I don't think they even have this color anymore. =(

Cleansers -Lancome - Mousse Clarte
Veritas709 10/21/2005 3:34:00 AM
Paid: $28.69/200mL bottle. I decided this over the gel clarte because of the pump bottle. I just can't stand untwisting and twisting the cap of the other container when I'm already tired and just want to wash my face so I can go to sleep. I absolutely hate that. The product foams up nicely, not too thin or watery like the drugstore brands I've tried before. I actually hesitant about buying a foam dispenser b/c I had such a bad experience with them in the past. It has a medium consistency and washes away cleanly. It leaves you that squeaky clean feeling which I also like. I hate it when cleanser leaves a slippery feeling, I don't feel like it gets washed off all the way. Right afterwards, you don't feel like anything different, but about 10 minutes or so, my face feels so velvety soft. I keep touching it, which is bad I know. I'll see how I like it after a few weeks or so. I hope it lasts long so I can justify spending so much money on it. UPDATE 11/27/05: Although I love the pump bottle and the way it lathers up very richly, it leaves my skin pretty dry afterwards and I have mostly oily skin! I have to use a toner to get rid of the flakes from the dryness. I guess I'm in search for a different cleanser after I finish this.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Hug Me
Veritas709 9/19/2005 12:33:00 AM
Paid $14. Love this color and texture. For a long time I was looking for a nude everyday lipstick but most of them turn either too brown or too light that they make me look washed-out, but this is turned out very nice. It is a pinkish, beigish color, but not too dark and not too pink for my skintone. I also like the light, moisturizing texture of Lustre lipsticks and absolutely love the smell too.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Medium/Dark
Veritas709 8/28/2005 11:18:00 PM
Paid: $18 Pros: made my face looks flawless the first few days Cons: caused breakouts (tiny bumps acne) Comments: I'll stick with Clean and Clear blotting paper which works well and a lot cheaper.
