Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
VegetaFanGirl 12/4/2012 5:01:00 PM
Ugh, I really wish this concealer had a more diverse shade range!! Other than that I would have loved it!! I extemporraneously bought Glamoflauge in Light because I ran out of my usual concealer. It seemed very promising because of the words "heavy duty full coverage" concealer. So I picked it up and tested it out when I got home- it was WAY too light. The Medium shade looked way too dark for me- if there's anything worse than too-light concealer, it's too-dark concealer. Basically, Hard Candy needs to learn the term "happy medium". Other than that, it actually was a very full-coverage and creamy product. I use it and it stays on for a very long time and covers up all my blemishes- my trick is to use it under foundation. I have heard people say, though, that Glamoflauge is one of those concealers that enhances fine lines- I would watch out for that. It's also cheap for like $6. I like the results, I just really wish that Hard Candy would make MORE SHADES! D:

Eyeliner -Revlon - Grow Luscious Lash Liner - 001 Onyx
VegetaFanGirl 12/4/2012 4:45:00 PM
Definetely one of my favorite eyeliners- I swear by it. A friend recommended this to me over a year ago, and I, being very "busy", found some $8 and finally purchased this eyeliner. Awesome decision!! This is a stupendous eyeliner if you would like one to manipulate for smoky eye, smudgy or dramatic looks. As for color, this is a blue-black liner, not your average brown-black liner, which shows its intenseness when you use it. I find that it is extremely smooth and glides on very easily. It has intense pigmentation and you can get a dramatic color payoff at the slightest little touch. That is quite a record in my book. It stays on very well and on the waterline as well. It is around $8, so it's averagely priced. For those $8, finding one of these guys lurking in the drugstore makeup shelves is completely worth it!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Creme Gloss - Cherry Tart (50)
VegetaFanGirl 11/20/2012 9:44:00 PM
I am not in love with this product. It is a very mediocre gloss. Revlon dominates the lip product line, so naturally, I decide to go get their products. I bought three Creme glosses in 005, 015 and 050. The Cherry Tart one was a little bit more daring than I originally expected. It is a shade of red-pink, not quite cherry, but close. It has pink undertones. If you look at it in the sun, it actually has a teeny bit of coral shimmer in it. Now, a basic description; the lipgloss itself is very thick and kinda sticky- not really the best formula ever. It is also difficult to get even lip coverage with this product. Since it's a dark color, if you apply it unevenly, it will look the part. Also, the tube itself is quite interesting- it has the twist-top cap in order to dispense the gloss. It is quite annoying because, initially, you twist the cap and nothing comes out, and afterward- a crapton of gloss starts gushing out of the tube! Not fun. It is also necessary to reapply a lot. Not super long wearing. It is relatively affordable for a glass, just perfectly in the middle. Overall, I don't really like this product. I like some others in this line, just not Cherry Tart.

Eye Shadow -Hard Candy - That's How Eye Roll
VegetaFanGirl 11/18/2012 9:56:00 PM
Hahaha- I just love Hard Candy and their pun-tastic names! This one is rather fitting actually. This is a double-ended eyeshadow duo- one is a stick of color, the other is a little tube of roll-on shimmer. Get the pun? ;) I like this product. It is of decent quality; I bought one extemporaneously because I needed a good eyeshadow duo to use for a special occasion; I was pleasantly satisfied by THER. First, the color is nice and rich and it glides on quite easily onto the eyes. It is not buildable, though. However, it does blend well. The roll-on shimmer is a bit cumbersome, but use a little brush manipulation and you've got a sexy look. The staying power is good with primer. What I found really annoying, though, was that the shadow crayon part of it broke really easily, so I need to stuff it back in each time. This is a cheap duo for $8; I'd say it's worth the money.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - LE Metallique Foil Eye Color Crayon
VegetaFanGirl 11/18/2012 9:42:00 PM
Omg, thank you so much MUAers for saving this little product from getting a horrible review!! I bought an eye crayon in Silver Foil for $1 at BigLots and took it home to try it. I was so surprised that L'Oreal would sell eye products in such miniscule quantities...this adorable little eye crayon is only 5.1cm (2 inches) long! I've seen them in drugstores and always gasped in horror at the price. When I got home, I swatched the crayon to find it very chalky, blunt, rough and annoying. So I started cursing and came on here to write a rant on this product. However, I read some of the reviews below me to use it wet- and it worked wonders! This was the absolute most shiny, reflective, gorgeous silver color I've ever seen in my entire life! It turned smooth, creamy, silky, and incredibly long wearing. These are expensive as hell in the drugstore, but if you look in discount stores, you can buy these in bulk for like $1 each. I need to stock up! Now I am beginning to question why L'Oreal puts such amazing eye crayons in such little, cumbersome packaging. Hm....

Deodorants -Secret - Scent Expressions Crystal Clear Gel - All
VegetaFanGirl 11/12/2012 10:58:00 PM
Deodorants, for some reason, just seem to hate me, but this one is actually does a great job at being a deodorant. I use the one in Ooh La La Lavender. I actually never wanted the gel deodorants- this is what happens when you send your mother out with a coupon going to buy your deodorant. My general annoyance with gel deodorants is the waiting for them to dry- it's just awkward. However, I was pleased with this one. Gel actually does a good job protection-wise- you stay comfortably dry (and pleasant-smelling) for a really long time without reapplying. I noticed that this product does not last through anything, so it does fail after about 9-10 hours or a super hot summer day. That's why I marked it down one lipstick. Other than that, it smells really nice, is very high protection, and is pretty well priced (especially if you buy the 2-pack). Overall, I eagerly recommend this product.

Deodorants -Dove - Dove Ultimate Visibly Smooth
VegetaFanGirl 11/12/2012 10:50:00 PM
Not a fan. Sure, it smells nice and fresh and it actually did thin my underarm hair a bit, but other than that, I didn't really like it. The protection was horrible- all of it came off onto my shirts so I had the dreaded white, streaky underarms. It wouldn't stay where it was supposed to!! Also, when it did stay, it did not have good protection. Wouldn't recommend (unless you wear sleeveless tops 24/7 and never sweat).

Misc Beauty Tools -Gillette - venus embrace
VegetaFanGirl 11/12/2012 10:41:00 PM
Unwanted hair? Whuuuut?? That's what you'll say after you use this razor. It is my favorite and it is amazing!! I did not care much for what kind razors I used until I tried this one. Venus Embrace is a five-bladed razor, which is awesome because it shaves extremely close to the skin. I glided this once over an area on my leg- and was like "holy crap!" because it got all the hair in that area in one swipe and it did not burn or irritate my skin. This saved so much time! I like the fact that the moisture bars are very wide too- sure, they don't really moisturize, but they feel nice. However, this razor isn't good for getting at the underarms. Sorry! Other than that, this razor rocks and it's less than $20. Get it now!!

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - The Beauty Encyclopedia - Eye Edition
VegetaFanGirl 11/9/2012 9:48:00 PM
Personally, I did not really find anything exciting or rave-worthy about this palette. I got one at BigLots on sale for $3, so I cannot complain about price! I found these eyeshadows to be quite a disappointment. First off, the color pairing of these eyeshadows is just awkward. Who was the strategic "genius" who came up with these color combos? The palette lacks organization and also lacks base colors. Mostly, this palette is highlight colors and crease/liner colors. There are about 1-2 in-betweens, but they kinda fail. These colors are also of awkward consistency; some eyeshadows are as crumby as hell, some eyeshadows are way too pressed and cannot get good color payoff. It's like this thing was thrown together last minute using neutral eyeshadows from random brands. The color that I actually liked ended up shattering when I accidentally dropped the palette from 2 feet in the air onto CARPET. That's just sad. Also, the staying power is so-so; I have had fading problems with these shadows. This palette comes with a little eye liner, which is not too bad but is still pretty cheap. Overall, I would not recommend this palette to anybody- you can find way better neutral palettes out there than this one.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - High Shine Eyecolor in Glisten
VegetaFanGirl 11/9/2012 9:31:00 PM
First, let me recap the story of how I ended up purchasing this eyecolor. Me: "Hello, so what are some new products of bareMinerals today?" Salesgirl: "Oh, well we are just coming out with our new limited edition foundation, it's deluxe and great-" Me: "Sorry, I'm not looking for foundations at the moment. Anything else?" Salesgirl: "We also have a new face cream and new 8-pan eyeshadows-" Me: "Not interested." *sees High Shine Eyecolors* "Oh, what's this?" Salesgirl: *Disappoined that I wasn't interested in anything expensive* "Oh, these? These are our High Shine Eyecolors. Great for making smokey eyes and come with a handy applicator and have the same great quality as all of our products-" Me: *Zooms over to cash register, not caring if the girl finished her sentence* So, yeah. I LOVE love love this eyeshadow! I love looking for these types of eyeshadows- extremely intense and pigmented and dramatic. They're so much fun to wear to parties and dances and basically any special occasions! This one is one of these eyeshadows. Glisten is an eyecolor that is very similar in color to the pyrite stone (Fool's Gold). It is a difficult color to describe, but it is gorgeous indeed. I do agree that it is extremely high shine; if you apply enough, you get a dramatic layer of silky gorgeousness on your eyelids. This color acts as a great contrast to a black crease and wing in a smoky eye, which is really fun to make. There is a bit of fallout involved here (well, they're bareMinerals shadows- what did you expect?). The applicator it comes with is quite clumsy and large and holds a ton of product inside, so I prefer brushes. I am super impressed with the pigmentation and staying power with these eyeshadows- I have not seen any creasing or fading, and they look just like cream eyeshadows. These are a bit pricey, for around $15, and they are quite small. However, I think they are completely worth the price. Overall, I highly recommend Glisten and other High Shine eyecolors if you want awesome color and shine for fun and dramatic looks!

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Sweet Mint
VegetaFanGirl 11/5/2012 9:39:00 PM
This was my first EOS lip balm- I had to see what the hype was about. To me, it did not live up to its hype, but it's still a great lip balm. I like the Sweet Mint one because it smells, looks, and even tastes great. I hate that feeling when you get chemical-like lipgloss or balm in your mouth- worst experience ever, am I right? Well you won't get that feeling with this balm. I did see a temporary difference right away in the texture of my lips- they became a lot smoother instantly and were much softer. I enjoy using this in the summer because it also gives the lips a cool tingly feeling. However, in the winter, I gotta go back to my Chapsticks. It is a bit pricey for a lip balm- some $4. I still would strongly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a (delicious) summer lip balm!

Concealers -Bare Escentuals - Summer Bisque
VegetaFanGirl 11/4/2012 4:19:00 PM
Meh, me and this concealer are in a complicated relationship. I honestly do not trust it as my only concealer- just like the bareMinerals foundation, it does not cover anything. It may sort of cover light blemishes and light redness, but other than that, it will not cover anything major. I like to use Summer Bisque as a sort of finishing concealer- I use my heavy duty stuff underneath and put this on top. I find that it helps to absorb oil a little- which is really nice. The color of this concealer is great- I love the tones of bareMinerals products- this is a very neutral concealer. Also, it seems to cooperate well with foundations. It does not have good staying power- it's powder, come on! This is a pretty cheap high end concealer, for $18. Also, this product can double as a mineral foundation if you're really desperate for one. So, yeah- I don't really trust it to perform on its own very much, but it can do good stuff if you know how to work it.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub
VegetaFanGirl 11/4/2012 12:43:00 AM
*Jumps off bandwagon* Sorry Neutrogena, but I honestly did not love this product. I am a Neutrogena die-hard user, but most products end up being either hits or misses for me. Sadly, this one missed. Rapid Clear did help to greatly clear my breakouts (with the help of some other face treatments) so I am not disappointed in that department. In fact, the name "Rapid Clear" does not lie! However, there are "side effects". The biggest issue for me (this is why I marked it down 3 lipsticks) is that it dried my skin like CRAZY. I have oily-combo skin, and I have never had a face product that sucked all the life out of my skin like this one!! My skin felt tight and waxy, and I needed to apply moisturizer after every time I used this wash. I cannot imagine how this wash can torture dry skinned people! It is also on the pricey side for about $8. You get a lot of product for the money, though- and it smells citrusy! Still- I would not recommend this wash- it just dried my skin way too much.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - 030 Platinum Glimmer
VegetaFanGirl 11/3/2012 10:44:00 PM
Ha, this is another one of those overlooked underdog eyeshadows. Probably like no people will read this review because this is a product that nobody really notices in the drugstore or Makeupalley. Why am I even bothering reviewing this? Because it's an awesome product, ohmygod!! This eyeshadow is one of Revlon's Satin eyeshadows, and it's very impressive. It is a gunmetal grey color, similar to Urban Decay Gunmetal (except much cheaper!). It is very silky to apply and is a great crease shade for more intense looks, but it can be manipulated to use in the daytime. I especially love the reflective property of this eyeshadow- no need to use it wet! With primer and a light silver eyeshadow, this product will work WONDERS with smoky eyes. It is also quite cheap- discontinued idk but I got one for $2- normally it'd be like $5. You get a ton of eyeshadow for the money, and a little goes a very long way. Definetely recommending this to people!!

Blush -Almay - Cheek Color
VegetaFanGirl 11/3/2012 10:08:00 PM
Love Almay blushes! Sets a very high standard for blushes, imo. I own this blush in 140 Pink- which is a very sweet, innocent pink color (comparable to Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Dollface). This blush is very smooth for a powder product- it is not crumbly or chalky or rough. It goes on very nicely, a lot better than many blushes that I've tried. This blush goes on very evenly over any face products, which is a huge sigh of relief for me! It is also very buildable and consistent in its color. What I really, really love about it is that it looks natural on the face. The staying power is pretty good, and it has a very nice price tag of around $5. There is a great variety of these blushes from light to dark shades- probably will go purchase some more! Definetely recommend this product.
