Well, I guess I have to be the bad gal here, but I didn't find this VGVI Special Edition l/g anything unique or special. To me it looks like so many other pink or pinky mauve l/g MAC has and on my lips it showed up pretty blah. It was a brighter/louder pink on the tube then it was on my lips and my lips aren't very pigmented to begin with. I was looking forward to it, but was disappointed when I tried it on and it looked like others that I had tried before, nothing special IMO. Anyways, I gave it a 3 because the profits do go to charity and because it did look pretty in the tube, but not for me. I'm a GGG btw.
I absolutely ♥ this lipstick, Flash N Dash is not getting much love, but it will from me because I think it's a beautiful color...like someone below said it's a pretty bright watermelon strawberry color. I have no problem with this l/s showing up on my lips, you can apply it sheer if you want, but the color payoff is amazing. On my lips this is far from being a red color and maybe it's just me, but I don't see lots of glitter on this l/s...I am not a huge fan of lots of glitter. It shows up more shimmery on my lips then glittery. This was the only l/s from the Fafi Collection that I bought. Anyways, as far as the question that is asked "Would you buy this product again?" My answer is "Yes and I already have". *Holding her BU* =) I'm a GGG btw.
Makeup Brushes -MAC - 223 Eye Blending Brush (Raquel Welch)
UWMsGirl 2/10/2008 12:24:00 AM
I really like this brush, I just bought it when it was re-released with the N Collection in 2008 and I am SO glad I did. The 223 is a blending brush, almost like the 224, but smaller and not as fluffy if that makes sense? Which is why I bought it, I love the 224 brush, but sometimes I find it to be a bit big for my crease and want a brush that will fit nicely into my crease, this is where the 223 comes in...it's just like the 224, but smaller which I love! Phewww, anyways I wouldn't say it's a must have, but for me I am glad I bought it....I love the look it gives me when I apply e/s to my crease with it, 224 and 223 both give me a different look...so it depends on what look I am going for that determines what brush I use that day! Retails for $28 US dollars.
OMGGGG I am in ♥ with this brush....I absolutely LOVE it! When I bought the Sulpt N Shape powder, I saw this brush and knew I had to have it! It is like someone mentioned a super-sized MAC 224, it SOOO soft and amazing for contouring. I use the chiselled side to contour my cheeks and it applies it great....I use the pointed tip for applying the highlighter part or for blending my blush into my contour color! I know this brush is pretty costly at $52 US dollars, but IMO it's worth it...you can always use the MAC 187 which I own too, but I really like how this brush applies it best! Plus I'm a sucker for MU brushes so I couldn't let this big boy pass me by. I love, love, love it!
Pressed Powders -MAC - Sculpt & Shape Powder in Lightsweep/Shadester
UWMsGirl 2/10/2008 12:09:00 AM
OMG I absolutely ♥ ♥ love this product. When it first came out I didn't even care to look at these, but when I went to MAC for a haul...I asked the MA there, a friend of mine....what product was great for contouring? Well, she took me over to these and she tried Lightsweep/Shadester on me and I was hooked. It contours beautifully and the highlighting powder is amazing, on me it doesn't show up powdery or chalky...it gives me a gorgeous glow. I use this to contour my cheeks, nose..etc...I am a GGG and this shows up perfectly, the darkest one was TOO dark for my skintone. I loved this so much I bought 2 more......yep you read it right, 2 more! I know there are other things I can use to contour, but hey If I love it....why not?? Plus I don't think it's expensive, great price IMO ...Oh and I got brush 138 with this, AMAZINGGGG brush.....OMG this brush is the greatest contouring brush ever!!! Anyways, this is a great product!
Guess I will be the bad guy here or should I say bad girl? Anyways, I didn't care for Modest Tone at all...when I tried it on it was a boring plain beige color and it actually looked almost whiteish on my tanned/brown skin (I'm a GGG btw). I just didn't find this e/s to be anything exciting, I just think MAC has other prettier and better neutral shades and IMO this one is not one of them.
I absolutely ♥ Light Flush....when I saw pics of the N Collection, I thought I wanted Warmed MSF, but IRL Light Flush is so much prettier IMO. Warmed on my skin was too orangey looking and I didn't care to look like an Oompa Loompa. On my tanned/brown skin (I'm a GGG) Light Flush shows up a gorgeous peachy pink with a golden sheen. It looks gorgeous by itself or over blush....loving this so much and I'm usually not a HUGE fan of MSF, but this one is a must have!
Groundwork is my favorite paint pot from MAC so far, it's a great light brown taupe color.....perfect for e/s base! I mean this baby makes a great neutral base for me since I am a GGG, perfect for everyday use no matter what color e/s I am going to use. This was released with the N Collection and I have been using it everyday since I bought it. It's smooth and creamy in texture and it makes my e/s stay put all day long. As someone below said, dark skinned girls ....this is a must have!
Remotely Grey from the N Collection is my favorite e/s of all the e/s released in this collection, as others have said it's a greyed brown, although on me it shows up more of a brownish taupe color which I absolutely love! I paired this with Dark Edge and Nanogold for a smokey eye and got lots of compliments! I am definitely considering buying a BU of this e/s! Easy to blend and apply too.
Dark Edge is a dirty chocolate color, this e/s is great for doing smokey eyes. I paired it with Remotely Grey e/s and it looked awesome. Dark Edge is a Satin finish, it's actually pretty easy to blend and it's really pigmented. This is one of my favorite e/s from the N Collection.
Quite Natural Paint Pot is a smooth and creamy chocolate color. It is really dark so I like using this as a base for like brown eyeshadows...for example I used Mulch e/s over this and it really intensified it's color. I will be playing with it some more, but I also plan on using it alone for a smokey eye....loving this pp so far!
Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
UWMsGirl 8/7/2007 3:51:00 AM
I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this baby, I ♥ this mascara. It is truly amazing and I love that it gives me long, thick false looking lashes! I have been asked several times if I have on falsies and to their amaze I always say no! This mascara doesn't clump on me and it doesn't dry up on me, I also love how it smells...weird? yeah well I do. I can't describe it, but I love the scent, not too overpowering or anything, but it's a nice smell if I do say so myself! So, yeah I know lots of people don't like spending the $$ for mascara, but I personally think this macara is worth it. If you don't want to shell out the $$ for it, try L'Oreal Voluminous if you haven't already, they are both great!
Ok, well as you can tell there are many mixed reviews on these 3D glosses, I personally LOVE them, yep I do! They are a bit on the sheer side, so if you are not looking for sheer glosses...then yeah these might not be what you want. I don't own many sheer glosses at all so I am truly loving these. Although I have to say that they aren't really very sheer on my lips, each gloss I bought ....5 total show up a BEAUTIFUL color on my lips. They aren't horribly sheer as in you can apply all these glosses on your lips and there is no difference, absolutely not. I love how shiny and glossy my lips look with these and I also love that they aren't sticky, although honestly I don't mind MAC's regular l/g's that are sticky, this is a nice change! They also have great staying power, atleast on me they did so I'm happy with that. My lips aren't very pigmented at all and I'm a GGG!
MAC Optical 3D gloss, I know there are many mixed reviews on these glosses, but I personally ♥ the ones I got. They are a bit sheer, but they do show up with color on my lips, so they aren't sheer to the point where you can't tell what color you have on. They show up a beautiful color on my lips. Optical is 1 of 5 of the 3D glosses I got and I really love this caramel nude colored gloss, it looks amazing with Neutralzone lipglass liner. One of my favorite things about it is how glossy and shiny it looks on my lips. I'm a GGG, also FYI I don't have very pigmented lips.
Liquid -La Prairie - Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF15
UWMsGirl 7/12/2005 12:36:00 AM
I had reviewed this foundation before, but accidentally deleted my review, so I got it from the other listing, anyways here it goes: WoW, WoW, WoW this foundation is INCREDIBLE! I have been looking for the perfect foundation for years now and I am happy to say that I have found it! I had been tempted to try this fdtn. out because of all the RAVES and I was very fortunate to get a sample of this foundation from a generous MUA'er and I must say I was hooked on it immediately! I have normal to dry skin and this foundation is just perfect, yeah I know I already said that, but it is! It stays on all day, through sweat, through hot humid weather, this stuff toughs it out and stays ON and as others have mentioned, a little bit of it goes a long way, not to mention it feels like SILK on my face! It also gives my skin this pretty natural glow, it leaves my face looking flawless and soft! The concealer that comes with it is great too, same exact color as the foundation and it covers well! It comes with a cute lil stand, a sponge and a concealer brush, I apply this foundation with my fdtn. brush or my fingers, some have said this fdtn. is heavy and cakey, IMO if it is then you applied too much! This foundation can be applied sheer to full coverage and it even if you need more coverage it goes on smoothly and silky without looking heavy or cakey! I also like the smell of this fdtn., yeah you are reading it right, I do! I can't describe it, but this is the first foundation I like the smell of! Anyways, this is expensive at $150 USD, but it is so worth it and more! Nothing like using a foundation and looking and feeling as if you aren't wearing any because it feels so lightweight! This foundation gives you that beautiful flawless glowing skin, atleast it does me! =) It didn't break me out or give me clogged pores, on the contrary it seemed to make my skin look and feel better! OK so this fdtn. may not work for everyone, but what if it does for you? My skin is not bad at all either, I hardly break out and I don't have any skin problems, so this is not a fdtn., regardless of price that is only for those who NEED alot of coverage, because as I mentioned it can be applied sheer too! Get a sample first before buying it to make sure you like it, glad my skin agrees with me on this one! Glad my search for the perfect fdtn. is over, I am sticking to this one! *~*~*~*~*~UPDATE*~*~*~*~*~* I am still LOVING this foundation, I just bought my 2nd bottle, which is good considering my first bottle lasted a whole YEAR, so if you are worried about the price, don't be...this fdtn. lasts a long time, very little goes a long way! I am still in love with this stuff, it is still my HG! =)
