Fragrances -Prada - Prada Beauty Eau de Parfum
TerBear 12/3/2004 12:45:00 PM
I am LOVING this fragrance -- on me, this is a more-wearable, lighter, less-musky version of Angel, with lots of amber and skin and warmth to it. I like that it's not overpowering (AT ALL, and I am very sensitive to overly strong fragrances), and I love the atomizer bulb spray -- mine applies just the right amount, without spritzing too much onto my skin. I only wish I had the lotion!

Lipstick -Three Custom Color Specialists - Warm Red
TerBear 11/19/2004 9:20:00 PM
This is a perfect warm creamy matte red, wonderful for a glam '40s type of look. I have very acidic lips that turn most reds fuchsia, but this one is *completely* unfazed by my lip pH! There is a slight lipstick-y scent in the tube, but once you apply it, it disappears within minutes, leaving no odor. Lasting power is impressive, and it is not drying. (Though I wear it over lipbalm anyway.) Pigmentation is superb -- in fact, this color is so pigmented that I wouldn't apply it with anything but a lipbrush -- applying it straight from the tube is asking for trouble! This type of a shade requires precision in application, and the color payoff is intense & impressive.

Lip Treatments -Almay - Pure Tints in Mauve
TerBear 10/26/2004 11:54:00 AM
WOW! This is a gorgeous rosy my-lips-but-better shade, and it's not too sheer! It reminds me a lot in color of MAC Brick-O-La Amplified Creme Lipstick, only it's in lipbalm form, and it's not quite as thick/pigmented as the MAC lipstick is. It's fabulous, and makes a GREAT base for lipgloss on my not-very-pigmented lips. I'd recommend this to anyone who can wear cool-toned medium rosy shades on their lips -- it's a keeper, and at $3 or so, it's cheap too! :)

Palettes -mark - The Story Book- Glamforce
TerBear 10/20/2004 9:44:00 PM
This palette is SO adorable -- the packaging is very nice quality, with the sturdy covers and magnetized closure. The eyeshadows are fabulous -- one is a black with silver shimmer (GREAT as a smudgy liner shade used dry or wet), and the other is a shimmery golden shade. The blush is a matte rose-brown, and very pigmented -- you have to be careful how much you use! The lip products were the only disappointment for me -- the lip color appeared to be a deep warm red in the pan, like a red-brown, but instead it turned bright fuchsia on my lips. :( Not what I expected or wanted. I probably won't be able to wear this lip color -- and especially not with the warm-toned shades in this palette! The clear lipgloss rocks, though -- it has a very light minty smell, but it's not offensive at all. I'd give it a 5 rating if the lipstick matched the other products tone-wise better! Nice value for the money, though, and the packaging is superb for a cardboard-based palette.

Eye Shadow -Sonia Kashuk - Powder Partners Eyeshadow Duo in Tarzan & Jane
TerBear 9/19/2004 5:26:00 PM
This is such a lovely eyeshadow duo for Fall, and Sonia Kashuk's prices are always right! There are two eyeshadows in this duo -- one is "Tarzan" -- a shimmery olive green infused with golden shimmer -- and the other is "Jane" -- a slightly shimmery pale warm citron, not really "yellow", and not "chartreuse" -- definitely a mix of pale yellow and pale green. They're lovely together -- my favorite way to wear them is with Jane as a wash, and Tarzan used wet to line with an angled eyeshadow brush! Fabulous shades, fabulous buy!

Lipstick -Sonia Kashuk - Luxury Lip Sheer in Sheer Diva
TerBear 9/19/2004 5:23:00 PM
What a great lipstick for $5.99 -- it's a sheer, smooth, moisturizing formulation; it has no stinky or "off" odor or taste; and the color is lovely -- Sheer Diva is a creamy, neutral nude-mauve-pink -- very nude and not too cool-toned, and really just my-lips-but-better. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a lovely sheer everyday lipcolor for a reasonable price!

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Blue for Women
TerBear 8/10/2004 11:52:00 AM
This is one of the most disgusting, cheap-smelling, poorly crafted fragrances I've ever smelled. It smells like something from the "Smells Like..." line -- sharp, aldehyde-ic, and completely one-dimensional. It smells like a poor attempt at an Acqua di Gio knockoff, but doesn't even come close to that. I'm very disappointed in Ralph Lauren's recent attempts at fragrance -- his fragrances 20 years ago were much nicer!

Lipstick -MAC - Ramblin Rose Lipstick
TerBear 8/6/2004 1:59:00 PM
Not sure why they called this "rose", as it's simply peach on me -- but a very frosty, glittery/shimmery peach with golden undertones, and very pretty. It *is* slightly gritty/drying because of the highly shimmery formulation, but I think this would look fabulous on anyone with warm undertones looking for a sparkly peach MAC lipstick.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Glam Shine - Sexy Soleil
TerBear 7/31/2004 6:15:00 PM
This limited edition Glam Shine shade is very lovely on tanned skin -- it's a warm peachy-camel shade, just shy of being "caramel". It reminds me a bit of MAC C-Thru, only with more peachiness and less "yellowiness". Lasting power is the only drawback, and the only reason I gave this a 4 rather than a 5 -- the Glam Shines are smooth & slightly slippery, and as such, don't last that long. I have to reapply every 2-3 hours in order for it to look nice. But this shade is fab; picked it up at Target in the clearance bin, still sealed, for $3! Yay! :)

Liquid -Paula's Choice - Best Face Forward Foundation SPF 25
TerBear 7/20/2004 12:49:00 PM
I *love* this foundation -- I have oily, breakout-prone skin, and this is a mattifying, no-breakouts formula that's very thin and easy to apply with a cosmetic sponge -- blending is a breeze! Coverage is medium with normal application, but is adjustable, and the shades are true-to-tone. This reminds me a bit of the Revlon Shine Control mattifying liquid makeup from a couple years ago, which I also liked. I will repurchase this when I run out!

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Icky Lip Gloss Cube
TerBear 7/20/2004 12:47:00 PM
I received this as an extra w/a swap (thanks, ambermichelle, WOW!), and I think it's adorable. It's a frosty light peach -- not a shade I'd normally reach for -- but I can 2nd mariehgal's comments that a little goes a long way, and that you shouldn't over-do it with this gloss. It's very creamy in texture, smells nice, and layers GREAT over pink or peach lipsticks to add shine & shimmer. I like it, and the pot looks like it'll last forever, so no need to re-purchase...

Lipstick -Mary Kay - Shell lipstick
TerBear 7/20/2004 12:41:00 PM
Received a lipstick sample w/swap in this shade, and although the color is very pretty (creamy slightly warm pink), the fragrance is perfumey and overpowering -- I was hoping Mary Kay had gotten rid of this in her lipsticks by now! It smells very old-lady-ish. The texture is also just slightly too dry for my taste -- granted, this gives it good staying power and then it won't bleed into lip lines -- but it also makes it feel tacky and dry on the lips. I am pleased with the shade, but not the scent/formulation, so even though I will use this sample today, I won't be buying this.

Lipstick -MAC - Brick-O-La
TerBear 4/26/2004 7:14:00 PM
Such a lovely rosy berry shade, and the Amp Creme formula rocks, in my opinion. This shade is neither too bright nor too red to wear during spring & summer, so it's a lovely way to brighten your face! It reminds me a tiny bit of Stila Luce, without the shimmer -- it has that same rosiness of tone while not turning fuchsia (and almost ANYTHING berry or red turns fuchsia on me!). Highly recommend this to anyone looking for something special, vibrant, and rosy!

Fragrances -Hermes - Caleche eau Delicate
TerBear 4/26/2004 7:12:00 PM
Just got a sample of this at Sephora this past weekend, and WOW! I was very impressed! I read "Hermes", and then thought, "Oh, old lady floral, I'll give a try anyway." It's GREAT! So light and fresh and clean-smelling. It's like water and flowers and a fresh spring breeze. It doesn't last long, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 rating, but for some people, that will be part of the charm, that it's light and doesn't overpower you or enter a room before you do! :) Definitely a fresh choice for spring!

Lipstick -MAC - Fresh Moroccan Lipstick
TerBear 8/25/2003 4:57:00 PM
This is the most gorgeous new red I've seen this year -- it's a warm sparkly (but not BRIGHT) red with golden shimmer. I love this worn over lipbalm, to give it a bit more moisture, as the frost formula MAC uses can be a bit drying (I think it's the sparkle bits that dry you out). Because this is slightly warm, doesn't turn fuchsia, and isn't too bright, I can easily wear this red, even in summertime!
