Moisturizers -Yes To Carrots - Yes to Cucumbers Facial Hydrating Lotion
Shayron 10/13/2010 6:21:00 PM
I needed something in a hurry to take on a weekend trip. I thought I was going to like this product since it wasn't full of chemicals, petroleum and/or silicones. After using it for two days my skin started looking congested. On the third day I could tell it was getting worse so I stopped using it. I'm not sure which ingredient caused the problem but it took another week before my skin cleared up. The best part of this product is the packaging. You can see when you are going to run out. Now if only my usual product had had that feature I wouldn't have tried this one.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin
Shayron 10/7/2010 4:57:00 PM
I was never able to wear a bun without one of those jaw clips hunkered over top. It kind of defeated the whole purpose. I've been using these almost everyday since I got them five months ago. My hair is elbow length and needs to be controlled most of the time or it just gets in the way (unless I'm sitting still or sleeping). These are an absolute miracle and are saving my hair from ponytail damage. Easy to use whether my hair is wet or dry.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color - Rubellite
Shayron 9/30/2010 1:26:00 PM
Rubellite (Rosy Pink) is the newest edition to my stash of pink lipsticks. I got it in the 2010 Evelyn Lauder Pink Ribbon Collection along with two of my previous favorites, Candy and Tiramisu. Never before was there a set where I loved all three shades, so for $25 I bought another set before it sells out. Pure Color (Candy/Rubellite) is creamy, long wearing, full coverage and it does not dry out my lips. Tiramisu is from the Crystal line, same luscious creaminess, sheerer color.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color
Shayron 9/30/2010 12:47:00 PM
Pure Color is the creamiest, most comfortable lipstick I've ever worn. These full coverage lipsticks do not dry out my lips. There is a wide variety of shades so most gals can find something flattering to their skin tone. I'm partial to pinks, among my favorites are Candy (Med. Pink), Pink Parfait (Lt. Pink), and Rubellite (Dk. Pink). If you're looking for something a bit more sheer, try the Pure Color Crystal line.

Makeup Brushes -Elizabeth Arden - Face Powder brush
Shayron 7/31/2010 5:08:00 PM
I purchased the EA mineral brush to use with the new mineral powder. It's a very soft synthetic brush that glides across my skin like butter. It washes nicely too. It also came with a foldable brush that fits inside the compact although I haven't tried that one yet.

Powder -Elizabeth Arden - Pure Finish Mineral Makeup
Shayron 7/31/2010 4:58:00 PM
I'll admit what got me was the grinder, making the product less messy and easy to apply. Shade #4 is a perfect match for my skin tone. It's so natural looking it's almost undetectable on my skin. This doesn't settle into lines after a few hours and I can reapply w/o it looking cakey. I don't need heavy coverage so this is perfect. It also doesn't change color if my face gets a little sweaty like the Laura Mercier mineral powder did. I've never used the puff so I can't comment on how that works. This is kind of expensive so we'll have to see how long it lasts before I decide if it's worth a repurchase.

Lips -Elizabeth Arden - Exceptional Lipstick- Starlight
Shayron 7/31/2010 3:50:00 PM
This is my first time using EA lipstick. I wasn't expecting much when I looked at the color (pinkish mauve) in the tube because I thought it was going to be too dark for my lips. I was quite surprised after I tried it on because the color is very sheer. Looks like MLBB with a little shimmer. I do well with pinks and this one is very wearable. It's not as creamy as my usual brand (Estee Lauder) so I doubt I'll be switching brands anytime soon.

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - Hydrationist
Shayron 7/31/2010 9:47:00 AM
Estee Lauder's moisturizers with sunscreen irritate my eyes so when I saw the Hydrationist lotion w/o sunscreen (Normal/Combo) I decided to give it a try. I've been using it for the past 5 months and my bottle is almost empty. It's been fantastic for summertime use but I'm not sure I'll repurchase the lotion again this year. I like that it's not overly scented and soaks right in without leaving me shiny, unlike some of their other moisturizers. Another plus is that powder foundations can be worn over top without it balling up. With cooler weather coming soon I may switch to the cream in the jar (the one w/o sunscreen) because this won't be heavy enough to use during the cold dry months.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - ExpertWear Eye Shadow- Turquoise Jewel
Shayron 7/31/2010 9:17:00 AM
This is a pretty shade for Summer. It can be worn lightly or heavier for more intense color. I've used it wet and it didn't ruin the powder. Packaging is kind of flimsy but at $3 it can't be beat. I also have this in Jade.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - HD Hi-Definition Nail Color
Shayron 6/9/2010 1:25:00 PM
When I saw this gorgeous hot pink (Digital 06) nail polish sitting on the shelf I knew it was going home with me. I put two coats on my toes and went outside to check out the color in the sunlight. This shade is fantastic, it almost glows. Now I have the prettiest little piggies ever! Update: I recently bought Zoya Trinity and it's almost the exact same color. Trinity is a tad bit darker, but not much. I love them both!

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Shayron 6/9/2010 11:45:00 AM
I've used witch hazel off and on after removing my makeup ever since I was a teen. I still hate the smell. Whenever the weather got warm I'd switch to a toner with oily skin/acne fighting properties as the witch hazel just wasn't enough. Sometimes (during my 20's - 30's) I'd use straight 70% rubbing alcohol. No kidding. It didn't have any adverse effects to my skin and it dissolved the oil. Thankfully my skin isn't that oily anymore. Back to the witch hazel, I decided to experiment so I purchased the witch hazel and a 1/2 ounce bottle of MUAC 15% Salicylic Acid, mixed 1/4 oz. of the SA with the whole bottle of WH. So far I like the results. I've almost used the entire bottle (it lasted about 3 months) and my skin looks great. I don't suggest this for anyone, especially people with sensitive or dry skin, open acne sores or if you are allergic to salicylic acid. I'm not even suggesting you try it if witch hazel alone is working for you. I'm just passing the info along. Salicylic acid is an ingredient in some expensive toners and I decided to make my own.

Eye Makeup Remover -Clinique - Take The Day Off Eye Makeup Remover
Shayron 6/9/2010 10:53:00 AM
I use waterproof mascara so a good makeup remover is a must have. If you like Lancome's version (I do) this works just as well and is little less as expensive. I've tried many store "off brands" and none of them are worth their discounted price.

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - Daywear Plus Cream for Normal/Combination skin
Shayron 6/9/2010 10:34:00 AM
I got mine as a GWP. Like the tinted Daywear Plus, it's too shiny (and heavy) for me to use under makeup so I used it at night. It has good moisturizing qualities and smells fantastic. As a night cream I thought it was wonderful. Until they sell a SPF-Free version I'll have to pass because it irritates my eyes.

Treatments (Eye) -Estee Lauder - Re-Nutriv Ulimate Youth Eye Crenme
Shayron 6/9/2010 10:13:00 AM
I'm not surprised at the low reviews. I had a sample jar and was not impressed at all. The cream feels nice and soaks into my skin but so have many I've tried. In general I've never been impressed with "eye" creams. I just use whatever moisturizer I have at the time over my whole face and neck. Lauder has many good skin care products, unfortunately this isn't one. Skip it.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Re-Nutriv Ultimate Radiance Makeup SPF15
Shayron 6/9/2010 9:59:00 AM
I got a few samples of this in Pale Almond. I've never really liked liquid foundation. Of the many I've tried I always end up with the same result. They fade, settle into eye lines or slide off my t-zone in a few hours. This one was the exception. The finish was gorgeous, not matte, not dewy, it has a radiance with dimension that doesn't look flat or painted on. It lasted on my skin just about all day. Unfortunately, Pale Almond was just a tiny bit too light for my skin tone. There's not a wide variety of shades and I made it work with a little bronzer over top but at $80 I'm going to pass. Laura Mercier mineral powder looks just as good at half the price and for me it's easier to apply.
