Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Cryste Marine Firming Eye Treatment
Rina7 4/30/2010 2:59:00 AM
I wish I'd read MUA reviews before I bought this, because it's an overpriced eye cream that doesn't deliver. I find that it's too thick and lumpy and doesn't really soak into my skin. My under-eye concealers tend to flake on top of this cream. It's a so-so moisturizer, that doesn't hydrate for very long. And no noticeable firming effects after many weeks of use.
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Be Natural Callus Eliminator
Rina7 4/30/2010 2:50:00 AM
This is not a moisturizer, but a gel that basically dissolves heel calluses. It's the only at-home treatment I've come across that actually does this. I got it on Amazon, roughly $11 on sale for a 4 oz. bottle that will probably last over a year. I soak my feet, pat dry, apply a thin layer of gel on my heel calluses, cover them with a small sheet of saran wrap, and let stand for a couple of minutes. Then I wipe the gel off with a towel, and buff off layers of dead skin with a foot file. It helps to put my heels back in water for 15-30 seconds, pat dry, then file again, otherwise my heel dries out and it gets hard to file away the dead skin. Finally I rinse my feet thoroughly with water, dry, and apply a good foot lotion. Voila! My heels are smooth and sandal-worthy. CAUTION: The stuff has a lot of urea and can be caustic, so you have to be careful: use gloves, don't leave on too long, and don't use if there are cracks in your heel that are deep enough to hurt or bleed.
Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 70
Rina7 4/28/2010 4:33:00 PM
This line is my favorite for body sunblock. I'd never use something like this on my face, way too heavy. But it absorbs much more readily compared to other brands I've tried at this SPF level, and the scent isn't too obnoxious.
Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 45 with Helioplex
Rina7 4/28/2010 4:30:00 PM
I use both the SPF 30 and SPF 45 versions of this product. I have sensitive skin that tans easily, and love Neutrogena sunscreens. This one is a bit sticky and shiny compared to lotions that just have SPF 15, but that's to be expected. Still feels much better than regular sunscreen.
Tinted Moisturizer -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer in Light to Medium

Now that I've tried this for several days, I'm not sure that this is a great match for my Asian skin because it seems to lean on the pink side. Very little coverage, but on days when I'm well rested and my skin is naturally bright, this just seems to dull it down. But my skin does tire out during the day, and this works as a light base for powder, blush, etc that lasts most of the day. It's cheap so it was worth trying, but I'm not sure if I'd buy it again.
Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ooh la lift!
Rina7 4/28/2010 1:19:00 AM
Another BeneFit product that doesn't live up to its name. It does have a slight temporary cooling effect, but develops a pink blotchy residue even with light application, and didn't do much otherwise.
Chalky and creases very quickly. I wish BeneFit would spend less energy on gimmicks and cutesy labeling and more on making products that live up to their promises.
Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Brownie Points

I'm NC25, Asian and this is a nice basic day color for me, not too shimmery or sticky, not too brown or dark, not too pink either. Can't beat it for $1.
I have a fairly decent complexion and just want a little help from makeup. I'm noticing these days that less makeup = younger looking, more makeup = aging. I decided to find a substitute for Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (oil-free) because the closest match, beige, has a tad too much pink for my Asian skin. The Mac SA tried F&B in C3 on one side and Mineralized cream foundation in NC 25. Both were excellent matches for my skin--never had better-- but the light coverage of F&B definitely made me look like I had amazing healthy, glowing skin without any makeup. It has a dewey texture, but feels sticky and transfers like wet paint before I apply finishing powder. Will update after the weather warms up to see how it fares in the heat.
Very happy with this concealer brush! I like to apply concealer just on my dark circles (not on my entire under-eye area, which makes my eyes look baggier) for a natural look, and this did the trick. The stiffness of the small brush made it very easy to apply and blend tiny amounts of concealer on target areas. It made my otherwise so-so drugstore concealers work a lot better than when I applied them with my fingertips (always end up with too much) or with a softer concealer brush. Great value.
Tried this with E.L.F. mineral blush. Found it kind of dense and small for a blush brush, making it hard to control the amount of product. It applied too much for my taste because , and was not good for blending out. I'm sticking with my Sonia Kashiuk blush brush, which is is fuller and lighter.
Got this with and tried it for a week in tandem with the Decleor Hydra Floral Flower Nectar cream after an impromptu free facial @ the Nordstrom Decleor counter. The good: really moisturized my face all day, which is particularly helpful because I often use mineral makeup which can be drying on my cheeks. My face looked much brighter, plumped and dewey. The bad: alas, I started to break out in my oily T-zone after a couple of days. Way too expensive to keep around just as an eye moisturizer, so I had to return them both.
Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Pink Lemonade

At first I thought this looked too sugary pink in the container, but found it to apply pretty sheer. Decent quality gloss, not too sticky, can't beat the price. Needs reapplication after 2-3 hours but that seems to be the norm. Works best on me with lip liner.
I found this pencil to be a bit dry, but the biggest problem for me is that it's too pink and light for my lips. I need lip pencil that is at least as dark as my lips, otherwise it looks weird.
Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion
Rina7 4/22/2010 10:52:00 PM
I wash my hands dozens of times a day because of my dog. Despite multiple applications of my regular lotion, my hands became severely dry, with cracked cuticles. After several days of using Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion, my hands are finally starting to heal. It leaves a smooth, soft, non-sticky/non-greasy film that lasts through several washes. I still have to re-apply a couple of times a day because of all the washings (not a big deal) and remember to thoroughly clean my hands with soap before cleaning my contact lenses at night. There are other products that last through washings, a lot more expensive than this one.
