Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Silk Elements Hot n' Silky Ceramic Tormeline 1" Flat iron
Product_Junkie 6/3/2011 3:46:00 PM
I am very impressed with this flat iron. I bought it @ Sally's for $30 as they were having a sale. The iron itself is great quality, heats up fast, straightens extremely well in a short amount of time; moreover it has universal voltage, so I can use it wherever I go. At first, I was skeptical of the LED ( after 50 minutes of use the iron automatically shuts off), but when I tried it, I used the flat iron for about 10 minutes(my hair was already blow-dried straight) only and my hair was very shiny and glossy. Usually one pass does the trick, since the iron gets pretty hot, even on the lowest setting. I think that this flat iron is salon quality at a very affordable price. 5 lippies:)

Moisturizers -Beyond Belief - Vita-C Skin Nutrients Day Antioxidant creme
Product_Junkie 6/3/2011 3:37:00 PM
Absolutely love this moisturizer!!! Does exactly what it is supposed to (softens & smooths skin, imparts a healthy natural glow) and doesn't cause breakouts. The scent is quite pleasant, somewhat like an orange creamsicle; it fades quickly. The creme itself is lightweight, yet moisturizing. The quality, IMO, is outstanding and the price is friendly ( $6.59 @ Sally's). The jar is 2 ounces but a little goes along way. Haven't found a moisturizer that tops this!! That said i will definitely be repurchasing. 5 lippies:)

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Glysomed Comforting Face Moisturizer
Product_Junkie 5/24/2011 8:14:00 PM
Love this moisturizer! I am so glad I stumbled upon it @ the d/s. What I am impressed with is that this cream does not cause breakouts or any other types of reactions; sinks right in; does not clog pores or feel greasy/tacky, yet moisturizes really well. The scent is also pleasant and neutral; the ingredients are great (Vitamins A, C, E, shea butter, panthenol, etc) . Moreover my skin is super soft and smooth after applying this cream. The price is also decent (around $11-12 CAD) . Overall, 5 lippies:)

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Air Mania Ceramic heat 1875 watt hair dryer
Product_Junkie 5/18/2011 12:05:00 PM
Bought this hair dryer at the drugstore for $30 after my other hairdryers had given up the ghost. I thought this would be a good cheap alternative to expensive blow dryers--boy was I wrong!!! The air mania dryer is good in that the motor is pretty powerful and the heat is strong, however, the cold shot button does not distribute cool air; the nozzle attachment is weirdly shaped (squiggly, instead of being straight to ensure even heat); my hair felt fuzzy after blowdrying (yep, after deep-conditioning, using serum, etc) and I noticed the cuticles of my hair weren't smooth, some ends were frayed (this was after I had gotten it trimmed to :-/). I think I will stick to either Helen of Troy or Belson Gold n' hot, since they are affordable, yet professional quality-haven't had any problems with those. As for the air mania dryer, it is going right back to the d/s! I gave an overall rating of 3 instead of 2 because the motor is pretty strong;other than that, I think this would be about a 1-2.

Treatments -Queen Helene - Placenta hot oil treatment with panthenol
Product_Junkie 12/31/2010 2:20:00 PM
I am kind of on the fence re: this treatment. It worked well, but not as well as I wanted it to. I left in my hair for about 15-20 minutes, so that the oil would absorb well. The treatment felt rather sticky and after washing I had to use more serum to soften my hair; on the upside though, the oil added shine as per the claims on the package, while also adding body...However, as far as conditioning goes, this wasn't ineffective but it wasn't as moisturizing as I hoped it would be. That said i am glad that this cost only $2 and was for one-time use. Will not r/p.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Conair PRO Ceramic Heat 1'inch Flat Iron
Product_Junkie 12/10/2010 3:42:00 PM
Bought this flat iron from a local beauty supply store and I must say I am impressed! I wanted to buy a professional flat iron, as the ones I purchased from the drugstore in the past did not meet my expectations. Anyhow, the Conair pro works really well, distributes heat evenly, heats up fast, makes my hair shiny and soft and most of all, holds my style in place; it does not 'rip' or 'tug' my hair. That said, I think the ceramic gold plates are sturdy, thus good quality. I paid about $70 and I think it well worth it. The iron itself is lightweight and gets the job done fast. Overall, I think I will look into beauty supply stores now when purchasing flat iron and hair dryers, since they are professional quality and are usually reasonably priced.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Avanti Wet to Dry Ceramic 1 inch Flat Iron
Product_Junkie 12/10/2010 3:24:00 PM
Was not impressed with this flat iron at all!! I bought it at Winners; I paid $39.99 which i thought was decent since it was originally about $80+. Anyway, this iron does not straighten well at all; the heat is extremely uneven; and I had to keep going over my hair with iron so that the style would stay, as a result, my hair was damaged from all that heat; the ceramic plates are of very cheap quality, as they did not impart any shine whatsoever. My hair did not "glide" well through the plates at all. Extremely bad quality.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Hot Tools Professional Ceramic Flat Iron
Product_Junkie 12/10/2010 3:16:00 PM
Overall, this is is a pretty decent flat iron; much better than others that I've tried in the past. I purchased the 3"inch one because they did not have the 1-1/2'inch (which I prefer because I find on my hair, the slimmer the plates, the more volume I have). The iron itself is definitely good quality, however, I also found inconsistent heat. What's more, although I like the ceramic plates as they are very smooth and impart a wonderful shine afterwards, my hair tends to look greasy because I think the plates are coated with oil. So for now I give this straightening iron 4 lippies; maybe the 1 inch will work better. Aside from that though, I really like Hot Tools...hopefully they will introduce more variety....

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Home Institut Paris-Les Karites Treatment with 2% shea butter for Dry/Damaged hair
Product_Junkie 12/10/2010 3:03:00 PM
This is another great conditioning pack that i bought from the d/s. It is supposed to meant for one-time use and I have found it does everything it says: it softens hair;adds shine;relaxes and repairs the cuticle; moisturizes; and does not leave buildup nor strip hair color. Love this stuff and its only about $2.99 per pack! Will be repurchasing:) 5 lippies:)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Home Institut Paris- Les Karites 5% Shea Butter mask for Dry/Damaged Hair
Product_Junkie 12/10/2010 2:57:00 PM
This mask has worked wonders for my hair, and luckily, I can find it easily at the local drugstore, and it delivers great quality w/out breaking the bank. I stumbled upon this mask at SDM (it costs about $8.99) and used as as per the directions (on shampooed damp hair) and left in for 5 minutes. When I rinsed my hair, my hair was soft, shiny and manageable. The scent is also pleasant, nothing overpowering; the consistency is quite thick and creamy--if I use too much, my hair will get oily/greasy, so I use a hazelnut-size (a little more) amount and comb through with a wide tooth comb and cover my hair with a plastic cap. What i also love about this deep conditioner is that aside from containing pro-vitamin B5 and a host of other good stuff my hair likes, is that it does not strip my color-treated hair. I used Kerastase's oleo masque a while back which also contains shea butter, but I have to concur that I like the former, as the latter made my hair too "poofy", but in fairness, provided a good amount of shine. That being said, I am glad I found something reasonable with great quality. Will definitely r/p. 5 lippies:)

Shampoo -Graham Webb - Ice Cap Revitalizing and Hydrating Shampoo
Product_Junkie 10/6/2010 6:27:00 PM
Bought Ice cap shampoo on a whim--I was at a local convenience store of all places and noticed the bottles were priced at around $2, so I purchased a bottle and tried it-the results were awesome!! My hair was well hydrated and light;not weighed down and greasy; my hair was soft and shiny. The scent is cool and fresh as well. If there are more bottles at the store, I will repurchase them...I just wish Graham Webb products would be sold in more hair salons, as they are very hard to find even when they are not discontinued. Overall, this is a great shampoo. 5 lippies:)

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Protector Finishing Powder [DISCONTINUED]
Product_Junkie 10/6/2010 6:11:00 PM
Great d/s powder!! I am very happy with this product; it does exactly what it claims and the color (buff beige) is perfect for me. I also like the fact that this powder does not accentuate fine lines , which most oil-controlling powders tend to, thus the "chalky" look-Age rewind , rather, I find, adds a soft glow, yet mattifies at the same time. What's more, this powder has long staying power, sets well without creasing or getting crepe-like and most of all does not turn orange, nor cause breakouts. The only qualm I have with this powder is the packaging, it is rather dated, but aside from that, this is a wonderfully textured d/s powder; definately great value for awesome quality. Will definately repurchase.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Energizing Sugar Body Scrub-Fresh Citrus
Product_Junkie 10/3/2010 6:08:00 PM
EEK!! (LOL)! This product was a major disappointment--I, too, was a sucker into buying this, as I was looking for a decent sugar scrub (my all-time fave was Freeman's totally juicy grapefruit sugar body polish; however, that has been discontinued now for some time:/). The energizing citrus scent is the only positive aspect of this product; other than that, this scrub made my skin feel tacky and slimy, didn't exfoliate and made the tub uber slippery--I had to rinse with Dove soap after just to get rid of the tacky feeling. This was similar to Freeman's new sugar scrub, which again made my skin feel gross. Will definitely not repurchase this product. I would, like many others have stated, given this product 0 lippies I could:S

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Hayashi Instant Replay Design Gel
Product_Junkie 9/4/2010 2:58:00 PM
Not a bad styling gel, but not the greatest, either...Granted, I found it to be more effective than other gels...What i like about this gel is that it does add shine, but made my hair somewhat stiff and had a tendency to buildup and flake. Will not r/p.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash
Product_Junkie 9/4/2010 2:48:00 PM
Love this mascara!! Was pleasantly surprised, although I had to go through a trial and error process, LOL! I initially bought the "soft black" shade--while it elongated and separted my lashes, the color was too pale so it didn;t really show; then I bought "blackest black" in the volumizing and lengthening version and woah, what a diffrence!! This mascara does exactly what it says (my lashes are naturally long) in that it defines, lengthens, volumizes and separates w/out clumpiness, etc. I expected this mascara to be just average, but in my experience, Define a Lash has worked much better than Telescopic, Voluminous, and Lash Out from L'oreal. Overall, I think this is a great d/s purchase for me. 5 lippies:)
