Moisturizers -Aubrey Organics - Rosa Mosqueta Rose Hip Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 5/20/2006 4:17:00 PM

A product has to truly perform and be affordable to win my favor. This moisturizing cream is both! I am hands down in love with the entire dry skin line by Aubrey Organics but this moisturizing cream is one of the best products that I have ever used. It is heavily moisturizing but it isn't thick. It goes on very easily and absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy residue behind which makes it superior to Dremu (emu) oil since it has great anti-aging properties. Do an internet search for rose hip seed oil and read up... you'll be amazed how great it really is. This has been so wonderful for my dry sensitive skin and been excellent for erasing my dehydration/fines lines. I am 28 and did not want dry, crepey looking skin... yet! I am very, very happy with this product and will use it as long as they keep making it. A must try!

Cleansers -Aubrey Organics - Seaware with Rosa Mosqueta Facial Cleansing Cream
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 5/8/2006 2:15:00 PM

This is an absolutely fabulous cleanser for dry skin. I like to let my cleanser concentrate on removing dirt and impurities, not just remove makeup, so I use unscented baby wipes to remove my makeup or Aubrey's herbal makeup remover first. This cleansing cream is very gentle to my skin and leaves it soft and smooth. It has a slight scent (not commerical fragrance) that I noticed for the first couple of days but afterwards I got used to it. It comes in a plastic squeeze bottle which helps you control how much you use so you have no wasted product. I truly love this product and it has saved my dry, dehydrated skin. I also use the coordinating Seaware toner, rosehip moisturizing cream, and Lumessence eye cream. After two weeks, the transformation of my skin is amazing. The rosehip moisturizing cream contains rosehip oil which is an excellent anti-aging product that is superior to the Dremu (emu) oil. This set has almost completely erased all of my dehydration/fine lines. At 28, this is a complete blessing that I will use for a lifetime.

Treatments (Eye) -Aubrey Organics - Lumessence Rejuvenating Eye Cream
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 5/8/2006 2:10:00 PM

I am so happy to have finally found an eye treatment product that works that won't clean out the checking account. Not only does this amazing product work wonders for dry eyes but it is healthy and natural. I use the entire dry skin line from Aubrey Organics but if I could afford only one product this very well might be the one I would choose. The product goes on very easily which is nice because the last thing I want to do is tug or stretch the eye skin. This glides onto the skin very easily. It is thin but definitely not runny. It is really the perfect consistency for under eye use. As for results... well, after 2 weeks use my dark circles were gone and the under eye area much firmer. After that (2 1/2 wks) the firmness continued to increase and puffiness has been significantly diminished when waking up in the morning. The moisturization was immediate. I am 28 years old with very dry, sensitive skin so I worried about how I would fare with this product. It has been so wonderful. The packaging is nice because it comes in an airless pump which keeps the product bacteria free and fresh. It has no scent that I could detect and it is golden yellow in color. The Aubrey Organics website says to use it for 28 days to notice benefits but for me it was much sooner! (smile) A wonderful eye cream that actually works for about $20. You really cannot ask for more! Buy online at www.sweetwatermarket.com or www.aubrey-organics.com

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals #1
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/26/2006 4:32:00 PM

Update: The titanium in this dried my skin out wayyyyy to much so I switched to Earth's Beauty (www.earthsbeauty.com) mineral makeup which used 2 ingredients: arrowroot powder and iron oxides. They do have a second type that has SPF 15. In my opinion, Earth's Beauty delivers everything that Bare Escentuals promises. It's much cheaper, you don't need finishing dust or mineral veil and it doesn't turn your face into the Sahara Desert. It also gives better coverage without looking powdery. So, I stand by the technique below but you owe it to yourself to get a sample of Earth's Beauty. I would be surprised if you didn't love it. But, I do understand why those with oiler skin tones like BE. It works well with oily skin. ============================================================================= I first tried Bare Minerals when I was 18 years old. At 18 everything looks great, right? I am now 28 and recently purchased a new kit from Ulta. The first application seemed as horrible as some of the reviews (including irritation) and I couldn't figure why. I blamed it on everything from older (28) drier skin to my diet. But, I wanted to keep using it because it is so expensive and I really couldn't afford to buy anything else (military wife). After four weeks of trying everything... I found the trick! You must take the tip of the brush and crush the minerals to a very, very fine powder inside the lid. Just like you would do with a mortar and pedistle. I just take the tip of my brush, (in up and down motions) and crush a tiny amount of minerals into an ultra-fine powder and then swirl and tap the brush. Then I lightly swirl the minerals on my face. I will never buff the makeup into my skin again and don't know why they suggest it. It only makes the makeup look terrible and cause irritation. The best part is the "shine" that everyone complains about is gone. The minerals are so tiny when you crush them that you look great! I also didn't have anymore irritation. My husband even said that I looked more beautiful with "this" makeup than anything I had ever worn. He told me to throw out my mineral makeup. The funny part is that this was the mineral makeup! It changed the look that much! I use this technique with every mineral product I own. Try it!

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
rated 2 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/26/2006 4:17:00 PM

This doesn't work with well with my pale Irish skin. They claim that all women can wear it but the reality is that the color is very harsh and not flattering to most women. No matter how little I use it seems very dark. I agree with the other reviews that there are much better mineral makeup bronzers out there that are prettier. I can't wear BE anymore b/c the titanium dries my skin out too much (i.e brings out the wrinkles). I wear Earth's Beauty mineral makeup (www.earthsbeauty.com) now since it is cheaper and has only two ingredients: arrowroot powder and iron oxides. The arrowroot powder does wonders for reducing the look of my pores and doesn't dry my skin out. They also make a pretty blush color called Sunset that works wonderfully as a bronzer. Warm Mesa is also a good brownish pink color to use. I put the "warmth" aside and now use it.

Cleansers -Gerda Spillman - Peau de Fleurs Cleansing Milk
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/22/2006 6:50:00 PM

I am a little surprised by the low reviews for this product. I like it very much and it works great on my skin. I am now 28 and my skin tends to be very sensitive. Most everything I have ever tried gives me some sort of reaction. So, this was a pleasant surprise. I recently learned that oil helps trap dirt and remove it so the mineral oil shouldn't scare anyone. I bought this through the Gerda Spillmann website as a "free" five day sample set (you pay $6.95 shipping). It came with skinfood, eye region cream and hydra pearls. All excellent products but I wish they were less expensive. They do ship to military addresses which is nice. I also got samples of Bio-Fond foundation and blush which I haven't tried yet. I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have a reaction to the skincare before adding the makeup to the mix. I really do recommend these products IF you can afford them.

Moisturizers -Skin Biology - Emu Oil for skin
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/13/2006 1:13:00 PM

I use Longview Farms only because it is triple refined, deodorized, and molecularly distilled. I buy the product called "Liquid Gold" that comes in a roll-on. It doesn't smell or leave a film that others have described. It definitely matters where you buy your oil so choose a quality source like LongviewFarms.com. The price I paid is $9 and it lasts a very long time making it a cheap investment. It works very well for my husband and I. He is 37 and I am 28. He doesn't have sensitive skin like I do so I tried it on him first. We were amazed at what it did for reducing the wrinkles around his eyes and forehead. Literally, they halfed in size and are getting better every day. He recently stopped smoking too so this has really improved the texture of his skin. He loves it. I use it as a moisturizer and couldn't be happier. I am starting to age around the eyes so this really helps smoothes the eye area and moisturize my entire face. I recommend at least trying Longview Farms Liquid Gold emu oil before giving up on it.... especially if you wear mineral makeup... it makes a great base. Remember, you only need a very small amount and the roll-on I purchased make it easy to apply.

I also use SimplyKaren.com mineral makeup and now that it as Vitamins A, C and E there is no reason to use anything else. Earth's Beauty or Simply Karen are two great brands although the Customer Service is EXCELLENT at Simply Karen. She will exchange your purchase is the colors aren't right for FREE! I highly recommend SimplyKaren.com but Earth's Beauty is my second choice. ==================================================================== I first tried Bare Minerals when I was 18 years old. Treatments (Eye) -Gerda Spillman - Eye Region Cream
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/11/2006 2:16:00 PM

Oh, how I wish I could afford this! What a wonderful eye cream... the other reviews sum up how great it is so I won't bother with another longer review. It works... smoothes the eye area and sinks it immediately (1-3 seconds). The smell is pleasant and fades quickly. I received a sample of this and cannot afford the $50 they charge for it. I am a military spouse and money isn't something I have to spare. I put it on my Christmas list so maybe my parents will pity me and buy it! I am only 28 so it really isn't a necessity.... yet.

Skincare - Face -Bindi - SkinCare Items
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/11/2006 2:10:00 PM

I bought the “basic” starter set which includes the basic cleanser, essential oil and moisturizing cream. I really did love how beautiful it made my skin but I have since switched to Aubrey Organics dry skin care line and include the essential oil in my skincare regimen without any problems. I have been using the essential oil with the Aubrey Organics for about a week now and it has made such a beautiful difference in my dry skin. The essential oil has really helped get rid of my dehydration lines and ward off early wrinkling that plagues dry skin. A wrinkle beginning on my forehead is gone! I am starting to age (28 y/o) and my skin is starting to be drier with every passing day so to be see such a difference with the oil alone is impressive. Remember to read the directions before using any of the products because some have to be diluted before using. I use the cleanser as a weekly exfoliation treatment because it is a bit too gritty to use daily on my dry, sensitive skin. Also, because of the texture, I didn’t feel comfortable using it to clean the skin around my eyes. I do not use the moisturizing cream anymore because it contains parabens which I try to avoid whenever possible and Aubrey Organics makes that possible for me. Overall, I am very glad that I tried it because the essential oil is a great supplement to my daily skin care regimen and the cleanser is an excellent exfoliate without harsh chemicals which is important since I have dry skin. Recommended!

Treatments (Eye) -Bindi - Saffron Ghee Eye Cream
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 4/11/2006 2:06:00 PM

The eye cream does work well for me and my dry, puffy eyes. I use this in conjunction with my Aubrey Organic eye cream and emu oil. This keeps my eyes in great shape. The Aubrey keep my eyes moisturized and wrinkles diminished and the Saffron Ghee is necessary for the dark circles and puffiness. I use emu oil too because it acts as a carrier to get the products into the deeper layers of skin. Together, these are a winning combination for dry skin. This is really a great eye cream for dark circles and puffiness. I picked this up for $10 and it was worth every penny.

Skincare - Face -Phytomer - Lift Contour
rated 4 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 3/16/2006 3:43:00 PM

I received a sample of this from Glow.com with an order. It really soaked into my dry skin in a matter of seconds and instantly hydrated my ultra-dry eyes. I am going to continue using until the sample runs out and will repurchase. My sample is called Phytomer Lift Contour Anti-Ageing Eye Cream. I haven't found any eye cream that works as good as this seems too. I am also using TriXera for the the rest of my face. It is also a good emollient moisturizer. Again, only for dry skin. I will really recommend this if you have dry skin and are starting to age. I am 28 but those fine lines are already appearing. I have moderately fair skin, brown hair and blue eyes. Worth trying!

I received this as a sample from Tubotica.com with a purchase of Ystheal Gel. The first day I used it everything was fine but then it really, really irritated my face. So, be careful.

Skincare - Body -Banana Boat - After Sun Lotion with Aloe
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 3/13/2006 8:17:00 AM

I cannot buy a better lotion for my dry skin. I have tried many moisturizers and this one really is wonderful and cheap. I live in a hot, humid year round climate and this is wonderful as an everyday moisturizer. It has collagen in it which makes it great for the face. It absorbs quickly into my skin, smells wonderful and it easy to put on. I couldn't use mineral makeup until I went back to this moisturizer. Nothing I have every tried improves skin texture like this. I recommend everyone trying it at least once. How many moisturizers can be put on the entire body including face and work well? If I could have only one product this would be it. No makeup. It gives a nice healthy glow and controls my shiny (not overly oil) T-Zone. A+++

Moisturizers -St. Ives - Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
PetiteBrunnette 3/11/2006 3:07:00 PM

I recently tried several expensive eye creams and none matched this $4 wonder. I don't mind paying for a product that works but why spend so much money when this does the job? It has elminated all puffiness around my eyes. The only thing is that I wish it did was work on fine lines better. I may try something else to correct that problem. Otherwise, a fantastic product. Works great and doesn't clean out the checking acoount. Also, 100% pure aloe vera works great smoothed on after makeup to keep it on all day. It works similar to those new "setting" liquids you see all over.
