Conditioner -Paul Mitchell - Lavender Mint Moisturizing Conditioner
NurseKristen 5/6/2008 8:28:00 AM
My hair is bleached/processed/damaged and gross, so I have a problem with shampoos making my hair feel "stripped" and hard/tangly after shampooing. THIS shampoo made my hair feel soft even before conditioner! It lathered perfectly- the shampoo is very rich and creamy but not TOO thick. Then when I used the conditioner, it sank right in, it smelled amazing, and it left my hair soft and didn't weight it down at ALL! My hair smells amazing, is unbelievably soft, and I have finally found something half the price of what I've been using for years that is pretty good in comparison.

Styling Products -Oscar Blandi - Jasmine Oil Serum
NurseKristen 5/6/2008 8:12:00 AM
This serum is light enough to not grease down your hair, yet smoothing enough to give your hair that polished/finished look. This is by far the best serum I have ever used. It smells like heaven! The smell alone is reason enough to use it. I will always repurchase regardless of it's expensive price.

Moisturizers -Bliss Labs - The youth as we know it
NurseKristen 5/4/2008 5:42:00 PM
I used this for 3-4 days and almost immediately started breaking out. I have really dry skin, so I love moisture, but this clogged my pores (I rarely break out). I also found that it would roll off into little pieces on my hands. EW. No good.

Self Tanners -Fake Bake - xtreme
NurseKristen 4/28/2008 5:52:00 PM
Let me start by saying, I have RUINED my skin in the sun/tanning beds over the last 15 years. I am now 30 and am seeing the damage on my face in the form of ugly brown spots. My pregnancy is what forced me to stay away from tanning beds, and I went "white" for the first 8 months thinking I'd just blame my hideousness on being pregnant. Then I remembered all the great things I had heard about Fake Bake. But I HATE self tanners!! They STINK and they're ORANGE!!! Every last one that I've tried. I am never happy with them. But I'm desperate. I've been SO white for 8 months now... I feel like a pasty freak. I ordered the Fake Bake X-treme from Sephora.com (I didn't even see the lotion as an option to buy? I have no idea why). I exfoliated, lotioned up with my regular lotion and then put on gloves to apply. The gel-like consistency is dark- almost black- but if you work it into your skin, it leaves a nice color guide so you know where you've applied and where you've missed a spot. The color goes on slightly green, but this is only the color guide. I waited 6 hours (it dried fast too! No mess on my clothes) and then jumped in the shower and watched the darkness wash down the drain. I am now left with a BEAUTIFUL, natural looking tan with absolutely NO TRACE of orange WHATSOEVER!! It went on even and gorgeous. It looks natural! I don't look like an Oompa Loompa!! My negative opinion about sunless tanners is gone thanks to this product. Will always re-purchase and nothing else.

Conditioner -Bumble & Bumble - Creme de Coco conditioner
NurseKristen 4/22/2008 3:50:00 PM
I have never been a fan of B&B shampoos/conditioners, but when I went into a B&B salon to purchase a bottle of Tonic, the sales girl convinced me to at least TRY this newer product. She had bleached-out hair like mine and she swore up and down how wonderful it was, so I thought what the heck. I bought the trial sizes which were $7 and $8 each (ouch!) and took them home to use right away. The smell was awesome, but thats about IT. When I tried working the conditioner through my hair, it felt like it wasn't absorbing at all, and it sat on top of my hair, not detangling in the least. After my shower, my large-tooth comb would barely comb through my hair, and I had to pile on my FF Glossing cream to get my hair to comb through. Waste of money IMO. It's amazing how some reviewers here are raving about this stuff when it performs so crappy on me. OH well!

Conditioner -Frederic Fekkai - Protein Rx Reparative Conditioner

I am very happy with both the shampoo and conditioner. I typically use Technician, but these are now in my "top 3" rotation. Smells nice, and leaves my dry/processed hair moisturized and soft.

Shampoo -Frederic Fekkai - Protein Rx Reparative Shampoo

I love this stuff. I typically use FF Technician or Kerastase, but this one is now part of my "top 3" rotation. I love the smell- like tahitian vanilla or something exotic. It leaves my hair soft, even before applying conditioner, which has been an issue with other shampoos. I have yet to use a bad FF product!

Shampoo -Terax - Collagene Shampoo

Not impressed with this one. Wish I was! People seem to like it on MUA. It didn't do anything for my dry/processed hair except make it feel drier and stripped, as one reviewer also mentioned below. I won't be buying this or Crema again.

Yeah sure, it's expensive- but it's worth it when your hair feels soft to the touch for the first time in YEARS after using it once. My hair feels silky and smooth and hydrated. It sinks in, you don't really need much at all, and it works wonders on dry/processed hair like mine. UPDATE: I won't ever buy anything else except maybe my beloved FF Technician. This is the very best.

Polishes -OPI - Boris & Natasha
NurseKristen 9/21/2007 6:01:00 PM
Love this dark, plum/brown/raisin color as others have described it. With 2 coats it appears darker on the nails than in the bottle, and I think it looks best on shorter nails. I have it on my toes now and love the way it looks-- (trendy as another reviewer said). I love this for a softer, less harsh look than LPAD, which I also love SO much.

ICK. Looks good in the bottle. Looks like a corpses' toenails when I painted mine with this color. It's kind of a sickly beige. Totally NOT flattering. I hope I can return this.

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - mystic tan
NurseKristen 8/3/2007 2:07:00 AM
I LOVE MYSTIC. I am trying to get away from tanning beds since I am prematurely ageing my poor skin... It turns out beautiful if you exfoliate well in the shower before you mystic and if you apply the barrier cream thick and carefully to hands and feet, especially calloused or thicker areas of the skin. I never use the bronzer one, I always choose the "clear"-- the one that develops over 4-6 hrs. Bronzer shows immediate reults but gets on your clopthes and looks icky IMO. It smells like DHA, but what self tanner doesn't?? I think it's worth the $. Makes me look nice and tan without ruining my skin.

Styling Products -Oscar Blandi - Seta Silk Polishing Cream

A product I can never live without. I still use FF Glossing Creme on my damp hair, and use this as a finishing creme. I LOVE the smell!! It's SOOOO nice, and makes my coarse, frizzy, damaged hair smooth, silky, and protected from humidity here in south Texas!! LOVE this stuff, regardless of the steep price tag. It's worth it.

Conditioner -Aveda - Deep Penetrating Hair Revitalizer
NurseKristen 7/6/2007 3:13:00 AM
Not impressed with this "deep" conditioner. Yeah, it might be thick in texture, but it didn't do a whole lot of deep conditioning at all. I liked the Damage Remedy treatment conditioner better-- it actually hydrated my hair better than this stuff.

This stuff is great. It smooths down my fried bleached frizzy hair before I flat-iron and makes it look smooth and sleek. Nice smell, too. I've used CHI serum and BTZ Smooth Shot and I like this one the best.
