I am not a big fan of most Maybelline products, however, I do love their mascaras. I picked this up on clearance for $3 and was told it was being discontinued/ My lashes are long to begin with but are very straight and almost blonde. This made my lashes longer. The size of the brush made it easy to maneuver the product on to my lashes. It is easy to apply and wasn't too goopey or too dry. It reminds me of Lancome Definicils, except this performs a lot better for less $. At the end of the day (some 15 hours after I applied my makeup) this mascara hadn't flaked or caused black marks under my eyes. As far as volume, it didn't give much...it is a lengthening mascara. I did apply coat of volumizing mascara (Diorshow) over top of this as I wanted thicker looking lashes which this product alone didn't give me. It's an average mascara with ok results. I probably wouldn't buy this again only because it wasn't volumizing enough and I had to apply 2-3 coats to see any noticeable definition. EDIT: I use this now as a lash lengthener or booster over top of all my mascaras.
Tinted Moisturizer -mark - Get a Tint tinted moisturizer
Mischievous1 6/27/2012 3:09:00 PM
This is definetly one of my fave products to wear when it's warm outside or even on days when I don't feel like wearing a lot of makeup. My skin is fair but I picked this in a warmer colour to give me a glow--my face tends to get a bit darker in the summer anyway. What I love most about this is that it hasn't cause me to break out and it is so lightweight. No smell either. I haven't really had any experience with other tinted moisturizers as I was afraid they would break me out or be too greasy. This one has SPF 15 and I can attest to it that you won't burn your face when wearing this. I've been wearing this a lot lately as the weather is warmer and I find foundation feels heavy on my skin . This is not a foundation and really won't give you anything more than sheer coverage (almost like a BB cream). If you have a lot of uneveness/zits to conceal, this won't do it. I sometimes wear a bit of concealer on top of this for spot concealing and it does the trick while still keeping my face natural looking. I find it does not hydrate like a moisturizer would. Even in the summer, I use my Murad moisturizer and then apply this after. Using a foundation brush helps to distribute the product evenly; I didn't have the best results using my fingers like I would with my moisturizer. I will definetly be repurchasing once I finish this tube.
Scrubs -Beyond Belief - Alpha Beta Hydroxy Deep Pore Scrub
Mischievous1 6/2/2012 4:10:00 PM
I was a bit hesitant to try this scrub just because it felt kind of like small grains of sandpaper. Once I got it home and have used it a few times, I can say it's easily one of my favorite scrubs. I use a makeup remover then I splash my face with water, and apply a warm washcloth a few times to my face to soften the skin. I then pat it a bit so it's still a bit damp. Then I use the scrub very gently on the skin. You have to really take your time using this because if you scrub too hard and fast you may end up with red skin. I scrub for a few minutes ever so lightly with the tips of my fingers. Wash it off and apply my toner, moisturizer and a little bit of the Beyond Belief Vita C antioxidant serum. Within minutes my skin looks so smooth (like I just had a facial!) and glowing. It was like I detoxed my skin . The next day it looks even better. I would recommend using this no more than 2x a week if you have a sensitive skin--maybe more if you have really clogged, oily skin that isn't smooth. It works amazing on the roadmap of black heads i have on my nose. On the down side it has a bit of a peroxide chemical smell to it mixed in with a black licorice scent. It also tends to be quite drying so definetly use a bit of extra moisturizer and serum.
Primer/ Corrector -New York Color - Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer
Mischievous1 5/7/2012 4:06:00 PM
I don't know why this received such low ratings. This has become my fave primer and reminds me a lot of Lancome's' Teint Miracle illuminating primer. I haven't had any breakouts from it and I'm quite acne prone. It gives my skin a bit of a sheen and I've had people comment on how nice my skin looks. I has a bit more shimmer than some primers and I didn't find it mattified my skin or made some of the fine lines look less noticeable. It did make my skin look lit from within for hours. For application, a little goes a long way! I prefer using my foundation brush with it or putting some on a sponge and dabbing it on certain areas of my face. I prefer not to put it on my nose and chin as they are my oiliest areas . I would recommend not using it all over the face as some of the shimmer can be overwhelming. For the price, I would purchase this again as it's almost as good as some of the expensive department store brands.
Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ooh la lift!
Mischievous1 3/29/2012 9:24:00 PM
I am pleasantly surprised at how well this works. I always make sure to use an eye cream, then the Get Bright pencil, then I use this. I pat a few dots of it underneath my eye. Surprisingly I haven't been wearing under eye concealer for the last couple of days since I bought it. My whole eye area looks very bright and some of the bluish cast I have underneath my eyes is gone. Even when I need a touch up at the end of the day, I put more on and it works just as well as it did in the morning. This doesn't cake, get dry or irritate my eyes. I will definetly be purchasing this again! The only minus of this is the price and I would have preferred it come in a squeeze tube.
Mascara -Yves Rocher - Luminelle Separating Mascara
Mischievous1 3/22/2012 1:21:00 PM
I like reaching for this product when I just want a natural lash. It's certainly not anything that will give you thick, full, fake looking lashes. My lashes are long so it really help make them look longer and seperates them. It doesn't run but again it won't make your lashes look thick/full. Definetly a winner if you want a wispy looking naturally fanned out lashes.
Cleansers -mark - That's Deep Purifying Gel Cleanser
Mischievous1 12/23/2011 9:42:00 AM
This THE perfect cleanser. I used it a few years ago and just didn't find that it was clearing up my skin all that well as I had quite a bit of acne on my chin/jaw. I returned to using it again and I love it mostly during the cold winter months because it doesn't strip my skin and it's scent free. For some reason my skin responded a lot better this time than it did before; it could have something to do with the topical acne ointment that I use as well. You need only a small small amount (pea size) of this product to get a good lather. I prefer using it with a small facial brush so that it exfoliates too. It rinses off easily and my skin never feels red, dry or tight. My pores look smaller and my skin looks so fresh and glowing. Another plus is that it's not an expensive product but works just as well as something you could find in a department store. This cleanser could easily last for more than 6 months. I will definetly keep using this as my staple cleanser!
This is my 2nd mineral blush from Avon that I own. I would have to say they are my favorite blushes and are better than a lot of the high priced brands. This makes my fair skin glow and I love that there is not any sparkle or shimmer. In natural daylight the colour looks natural and never cakey---it doesn't set into my pores. I use this with the Avon blush brush too. For the price, you can't go wrong because a little goes a long way. It's definetly become my go to perfect blush.
This has been a fave of mine for many years. I love that it comes in a small size or a large size and it's very affordable. It's a great non offensive smell and I tend to wear it a lot in colder weather or when I'm going to work. It lasts a really really long time too! The only thing I don't like is that the bottle does look a bit cheap but again you aren't paying big bucks for this perfume. Tip: Try spraying this over the Noix de Coco perfume.
Treatments -The Body Shop - Nutriganics Smoothing Serum
Mischievous1 9/30/2011 3:13:00 PM
I purchased this after having great success with the eye cream of the same line. I have sensitive acne prone skin so using new products especially serums and creams on my face can be risky. I've been using this for almost 2 weeks and my skin loves it! Price: It is about $23 CAD which is a fairly moderate price. I got mine for half that price during a sale. Packaging: Comes in a plastic pump and it dispenses the right amount of product. Not as sensitive as some pumps that dispense too much product if you push down even just a little bit. Overall: I love the smell--it's very natural smelling and disappears a few minutes after apply this on the face.I use this after I moisturize with Murad Perfecting Lotion. Apparently this serum can be used alone as a moisturizer because it is very moisturizing. Apply in an upward circular motion as per what the packaging says. A little goes a long way! No breakouts and no allergic reaction. Skin is left looking smoother and more even, perfect primer before makeup application. In fact, I noticed my concealer never looks cakey and stays very natural and smooth looking when I use this. As per the packaging this product is supposed to enhance the appearance of the skin over time. From TBS site ; Community Trade organic babassu oil from Brazil smoothes and revitalizes skin. Community Trade organic aloe vera from Guatemala soothes the skin. Organic buddleja and thyme from Switzerland give antioxidant protection from free radical damage. Damask rose, geranium, thyme, fennel and orange essential oils have been blended together to create a gently fragranced scent. I would recommend this to someone who is noticing some early aging signs (early 30's) such as lacklustre skin, less even skin tone, less of a youthful glow. After I use this I'm left with smooth, dewy, soft, even skin.
I received a small sample of this with a GWP and I wasn't sure for a while where to put it on my face and whether I liked it. Only recently I decided to use it and I was surprised how much I loved it. It's now a staple in my makeup routine when I want lightly luminous skin. I use a bit of it after I apply my moisturizer. I tend to not use it on my tzone that much. I prefer using 2 fingers to pat a bit on my cheeks and some on my forehead and a bit around my mouth area as it seems to diminish some of the redness. I have sensitive acne prone skin and so far my skin hasn't reacted negatively to it..big bonus! It makes my skin look glowing ( like I had an expensive facial) and makes me look rested and healthy. The illuminating effect is very sheer and isn't glittery at all so you don't end up looking like a disco ball or a teen that went overboard with shimmer.Even if you do use a bit too much it doesn't make it look like you did. I like to use a Mark bronzing powder on my cheeks and on my temples after I use this for an extra glow. Once the sample is gone, I will definetly be purchasing a full size.
This is one of my top fave mascaras that I use. Because it's a bit expensive it's not a mascara I use on a daily basis. Really it's something I use when I want stand out lashes. It's not too wet and not too dry. The large brush coats my lashes perfectly from base to tip and it doesn't clump at all. I can layer another coat on at the end of the day if I'm going out and it still looks incredible and doesn't flake. It gives me curled, fluttery, long dream lashes. There aren't many mascaras out there that can beat this one. I will certainly repurchase another one.
Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - The Righteous Butter
Mischievous1 9/27/2011 1:51:00 PM
This is my HG moisturizer lately. It smells so delicious and so sexy. It smells EXACTLY like Dior Miss Cherie perfume. It makes my skin soft like butter while leaving behind a nice sheen and a beautiful scent. I love using it on my legs. I"m really impressed by how well it soaks into my skin. Because it is so scented I wouldn't suggest using a perfume immediately after this. It takes a while for the scent to disappear on the skin so any perfume may clash with this.
Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dr Feelgood
Mischievous1 9/27/2011 12:03:00 PM
Total rip off! Cons- Product dries out in pot The smell is horrible Made me break out Too expensive Patting the product on like how the Benefit rep suggested doesn't work at all--the product is so dry that I almost had to grind it into my skin Skin looked dry and too matte Pros- Cute cover design on the pot
This is seriously one of the sexiest smells. I have the body mist and I find it lasts easily 4-5 hours, more so in warmer weater. I also use it with the body lotion for extra scent. For me, it's comparible to Calvin Klein's Euphoria but for a fraction of the price. It's a warm, dark, sexy, mysterious smell with a touch of sweetness which makes it feminine. I've worn it both in the daytime and in the evening because it's that versatile. It's a definite head turner and I've had people comment on how nice it smells.
