Lotions/ Creams -Korres - Vanilla Cinnamon Body Lotion
Mere828 10/1/2009 12:48:00 AM
I'm not really in love with this scent, but it's nothing to complain about either. It's a refreshing take on the classic cinnamon, not too spicy, and yet has a fruity undertone almost. I don't know how to describe it other than a faint nutmeg. The lasting power is actually really good and leaves my skin very, very tingly! Not sure if that's good or bad, but it does have an effect nonetheless. The texture of the lotion is very watery, and it's very difficult to spread and rub it. This product doesn't soak into my skin well at all. The bottle is also not squeezable so that was a negative. It's ok, but I wouldn't spend money on this again because I'm not sure I'd want to smell or feel like cinnamon all day.
I was a little on the fence about the fragrance at first. I smelled it in the bottle, and it wasn't particularly nice, it smelled at little cheap even. When used in the shower however, it smells pleasantly of oranges and cinnamon. More of a "sophisticated cinnamon" if you will - not just your run of the mill vanilla-cinnamon combo. In fact, it smells nothing of vanilla at all. If anything, it has almost a nutmeg scent. The lathering power is descent and I didn't need too much. It left my skin feeling tingly-clean after use, although the fragrance did not last. Also, the bottle that it's in is a hard plastic that doesn't give when you squeeze it, so you just kind of have to pour it out. Overally, it's interesting. Not something I would buy again, but not something I despise either.
Super-yuck! =( I bought this because I always wanted to try BeFine, due to their cute & clean-lined packaging, however I was totally grossed-out by my pick. It smells disgusting - sort of grassy, but not a muddy/mildewy kind of way - not at all what I expected. And the exfoliator "beads" - what I like to call them, are practically non-existant, so there was no actual exfoliating going on, and therefore did not improve my lip texture and got rid of no dead skin. And lastly, the packaging was just unnecessary. The tube is inside of a huge box with extra little pamphlets in it, advertising more products in the line. Do not buy! I 100% prefer C.O. Bigelow's lip exfoliator instead!
Deodorants -Alba Botanica - Clear Enzyme Deodorant Stick
Mere828 9/15/2009 8:12:00 AM
Yuck! This made my armpits smell worse, not better. I was searching for a deordorant that didn't have harmful chemicals and wasn't $20. This was fairly inexpensive, but don't waste your money. This did very little to prevent persperation and almost nothing to prevent odor. It smells normal when I initially put it on, but over time and as I get... *ahem*, sweatier throughout the day, my arm pits smell worse and worse because of this stuff. If you want a natural/chemical-safe deodorant, your better off spending it on Lavanilla, Kiehl's, or Fresh's deordorants.
Eye Makeup Remover -Origins - Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Eye Makeup Remover Pads
Mere828 10/17/2008 11:37:00 PM
I love these! They remove ALL of my eye make-up with just a few swipes. I can use both the front and the back of the pad and it doesn't seep through. They aren't too harsh on my skin or eyelashes. They don't sting my eyes, but *almost* do - if that makes sense? They are very strong. I can see why people say these sting if they have sensitive skin or eyes. I took off a lippie because a container is $20 and I wish it came with more pads. Other than that, a terrific eye-make up remover & I'll buy it again when I run out.
This is the PERFECT neutral for eye lids! In the compact, it looked like it was going to be too white when I first put it on, but for my fair skin tone, it works perfectly as an eyeshadow basic! It's like a cream with a very small hint of shimmer/gold, so it really brightens up my eyes! I am devoted to NARS, so while this shade can be easily duplicated, I wouldn't risk it because of NARS' high-quality pigmentations. I will definitely be using this on a daily basis!
Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - You're Bluffing [DISCONTINUED]
Mere828 10/16/2008 12:02:00 PM
I've been using this for about 6 months now, and I don't know why I continue to do so because this product is NOT my favorite concealer! It cakes on like nobody's business and the color is right, but it just doesn't stay on my blemishes, the product disappears right after I put it on, and hardly offsets the redness. The stick form is nice, and you do get a lot, but that doesn't mean much if the product doesn't perform!
I love the pigments of the bronzer and the blush each by themselves, but together, the square that the product is in isn't big enough to cover the area on my cheek I like to highlight. And the brush is a little small for doing that area as well. I guess I'd like to see a little more room for bronzer in this compact. The shades are lovely, the blush is a perfect lightly peachy pink color and the bronze is a nice shade as well. It's a bit dark for my fair skintone, but would work well on average skin types. Overall, I wanted to like this and it's a great product, it just didn't fit my needs.
I love how this is the perfect all-around pink shade, it's almost a nude, it blends right in with my lips & skin tone. It's very glossy and glamorous. I'm giving it a 3 because the staying power isn't all that great, but for a drugstore brand otherwise, it's comparable to MAC lipglass and a great, cheap alternative!
Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Gardeners Hand Therapy
Mere828 10/13/2008 6:55:00 PM
I'm not a fan of the fragrance, which is why I give it a three. It has a strong herbal/medicated fragrance that I don't care for. Over about a week, it's made my hands feel nice, but I couldn't tell that on immediate application. A perfectly good hand cream, just not spectacular.
WOW! I just love this luscious & delicious lip balm! I was expecting it to hydrate my lips with the Shea Butter and provide a minimal tint. This does MUCH more than that! The shine is beautiful, it gives my lips a healthy sheen. The color is the perfect pink shade, and a lot more pigmented than I would have thought - it's comparable to a high-end lip gloss. The texture is a little sticky, but it definitely makes it last a lot longer. I apply this and it lasts forever! I wish it was in a stick form instead of a pot, that's the only downside though. Overall, and amazing product, I will be repurchasing, especially since it's only $9.
Nails -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa - French Minicure
Mere828 10/13/2008 6:28:00 PM
This worked horribly on me. It's a kit to do a french manicure yourself, and the stickers to do the white part on top of my nails didn't even stick! I had to TAPE them down to get the shape right so I could use it once. The white nail polish looked okay, but the pink was a little TOO dark and clumped up when I tried to polish, perhaps it was old, but the non-functioning strips alone make this a one lippie at best.
Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - CLEAN WELL All-Natural Hand Sanitizer in Lavender
Mere828 10/13/2008 5:09:00 PM
I LOVE this! I picked one of these up at BBW (who knew they'd carry an all-natural sanitizer, instead of their typical anti-bacterial products?) and I just love it so far. It comes in a tiny 1oz package (costs $4, so oz for oz, the price is a lot, but I think it's worth it) it's also cruelty-free, which is a MAJOR factor! It's also a spray instead of a gel or cream, which I love. The only reason I took off a lippie is because the cap gets in the way of the spray a bit when you're trying to use the product, and the lavender smells nice, but I think they used that to try and cover up the "natural" smell, which is fine by itself anyway, but overall I just love this little sanitizer!
Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Luminous Body Cream (Creme Scintillante)
Mere828 10/10/2008 5:06:00 AM
Simply lovely! I got a sample packet of the Luminous Body Cream from L'Occitane before it's been released. Let me say, there is rarely a body care product I dislike from this brand, and this one's nothing short of a luxurious body cream! The scent is very similar to the honey line that was discontinued, but also has tea notes in it, so it's very soothing, yet very sophisticated. The cream is luminous because it has tiny micro sparkles, which is not something I would normally use, but I like the effect it has on my skin. My skin looks bright & glowy, and very shimmery, but in a subtle, light way. I'm eager to see how much this will cost, but it really is a fantastic product.
I've been using this for about two weeks now, and at first I really liked it, but after using it repeatedly every day 2x a day, I realize it's not that great. It's okay, but it's not quite up to par. Reasons being that it adds a very NICE subtle glow/tan to my skin, and it looks *very* natural, streak-free, and applies very easily. However, it does not build on the prior day's application, in other words, it's not gradual. For me, it was just as if I had applied a light self-tanner every morning when I woke up. And of course it all comes off in the shower, especially when I exfoliate. Bottom line? I will use this consistently for a glow, but I'm not going to expect a slight tan to build anymore.
