Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Sheer Lipstick- #10
Marianne 8/23/2003 7:16:00 AM
A truly wonderful color! My new favorite, and it's truly a staple, as it never seems to look "off" or "wrong." It's a lovely rose-brown with a cool mauve undertone. Plus the texture is so wonderful... glides on and the finish is lovely... not too shiny, not shimmery, just a perfect color.

Eye Shadow -Giorgio Armani - Eye Shadow #9
Marianne 8/23/2003 7:06:00 AM
What a wonderful color. Upon seeing it at the store, I wasn't impressed... it looked flat and a bit boring. Boy, was I wrong! With closer inspection, I found that this is a beautiful cream-gold, with just a hint of peach. It has the most wonderfully subtle glimmer. Not quite a shimmer, more like a lovely glow.

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Shine Lip Gloss 1
Marianne 8/23/2003 7:03:00 AM
A beautiful gloss. Unlike many others, this is NOT sticky or tacky, which I HATE. It's a wonderful silver gloss... but the silver is sheer, and subtle... it gives a lovely shine, and it's wonderful! My favorite.

Blush -Giorgio Armani - Sheer Blush #1
Marianne 8/23/2003 6:58:00 AM
This sheer, light pink is so pretty and feminine. Gives enough color to the cheeks, and gives that pretty blushing quality to PPP/LLL/FFF. No shimmer. It's a bit of a cool toned pink.

Lipstick -Kevyn Aucoin - The Expert Lip Tint
Marianne 8/23/2003 6:45:00 AM
I had to see whether this lipstick would live up to the hype, and as long as what you are looking for is weightless, natural, and sheer, it really does live up to the hype! There is a slight rose scent, and even though I am sensitive to fragrance in lipstick, it's very faint and disappears. The texture is wonderful... the cream-gel formula glides on easily, and the finish is so natural, there is something suede-like about it. If you are like me, and really want something pretty, natural, and hate the feeling of anything on your lips, this is a great buy!
Update: I love this sheer formula, but just wanted to point out it's wonderful that it's sheer but doesn't give a sheer look. Not to confuse with other sheer lipsticks which are sheer and are meant to give a sheer look.

Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Vanilla & Jasmine Baby Powder
Marianne 7/28/2003 1:52:00 AM
I love J&J products, they are so simple and effective. I loved the Lavender and Chamomile powder, and was so excited to try this one. It's corn starch based, which is really great! But the scent was not what I had hoped for. No vanilla from what I could smell, and the jasmine was overwhelming... not really jasmine either. I had a headache instantly, and I tried to like it.

Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum
Marianne 7/27/2003 2:09:00 AM
I wanted to like this. I was hoping to be able to give it a proper testing, but the perfume-y scent was so overwhelming. I would sneeze continuously whenever I put it on. And it also irritated my skin... again, it might have been the fragrance which irritated my skin. I love OoO products, esp. the Total Effects line, so I was excited to try this. I heard they will release a non-fragranced version soon, so I might try it out, but we'll see.

Sunscreen -Laneige - Sun Block Milk SPF 41 PA+++
Marianne 7/27/2003 2:05:00 AM
How could I not have written a review of this item? It was my all time favorite sunblock, until it was discontinued late last year. The wonderful Liv24 had suggested it to me, and believe it or not, I snagged the very last bottle! It's got great coverage, and has a nice very slight tint to it. Leaved a faint cast, and settles down to a semi-matte finish. Has a very nice liquid-y texture, and according to the pamphlet has moisturizing properties as well as "nourishing" properties. I wish that they would have continued this product.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Anessa Neosunscreen SPF50+ PA+++
Marianne 7/27/2003 2:02:00 AM
I really wanted to love this one... it's had many a rave. It leaves absolutely no cast, and is semi-matte in finish. It has a runny consistency, which is also nice. However, it didn't work out for me at all. I was in the sun for a half hour, and even though I slathered this on, I got all red. I am photosensitive, and so I need something I can trust. I couldn't trust this, and it was a let-down.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL ,SPF 60+
Marianne 7/27/2003 1:59:00 AM
The lovely Liv24 sent me a generously sized sample of this sunblock. I really had high hopes, b/c of the supposedly great ingredients used which are supposed to be great for UVA. However, though the texture was rather nice (on the runny side, which I prefer), it left am extremely shiny, oily cast on my skin. It just wouldn't settle in and meld!

Sunscreen -Pola - 1/f Suncut Milk SPF
Marianne 7/27/2003 1:56:00 AM
Of the various sunblocks I have used, this one is a standout. The texture is a bit more thick than my former favorite (now discontinued), Laneige SPF 41. It is white in color, but leaves no noticeable white cast at all! The finish is matte... quite amazing. It's wonderful, and nearly perfect, except for the possibility that it doesn't offer the best UVA protection possible. However, I am rarely in the sun for long periods of time. I really love it! Perfect finish, no cast, and pretty good texture... 3 out of 4 criteria is very good!
update I am lowering to 4 lipsticks. I do like it, but I find it is not suitable for use with some of my skincare items, as it starts to "pill" up when I apply. But it's still a nice product.

Eyes -Unlisted Brand - Blinc - Kiss Me Mascara Primer
Marianne 7/12/2003 2:19:00 PM
I love this! I had been hesitant to buy it due to the reviews, but I love Kiss Me Mascara, and can't wear any other mascara without some sort of smearing going on. I curl my lashes first, then do a light coat of the primer on my lashes. I do this slowly and carefully, and at last, I brushh the lashes "sideways" to release any "clumps" that fuse the lashes together at the ends. It helps to keep the lashes curled (the Kiss Me tends to straighten out lashes), gives a slight thickening look, but really helps to elongate the lash! I love it!

Candles -Tocca - Candle in Eau de Touch
Marianne 7/12/2003 2:16:00 PM
I had heard so many things about the strength and lovely fragrances of the Tocca candella line... well, now that the minis are available (in a cute little box, accompanied with a cute little Tocca matchbook!) I decided to take the plunge... I had been afraid to buy the large candle and then be disappointed. Well, this candle lived up to the hype! Unlit, it can scent a drawer quickly overnight, and leaves a lovely lingering scent in the room. Lit, it fragrances a room well, and burns well, without any soot or black smoke. I love it! Lasts about 20 hours. I will by this over and over! If you love sweet, floral scents, this is for you! Not too heady either!

Concealers -Cle de Peau - Concealer
Marianne 6/22/2003 12:34:00 AM
I have been avoiding Cle de Peau like the plague... I didn't want to fall onto the bandwagon, and torture myself with wanting something that was so $$$. However, curiosity got the best of me, and after CPing one for a dear friend, I had to ask her what she found so wonderful about it... basically her arguments won me over! I use the shade Ivory... you need only use the tiniest bit, and it's true, this could last for a looooong time! It blends in so well, doesn't seep into my dry undereye skin, and stays in place all day. Doesn't smudge off, but doesn't dry to a finish that feels unnatural or cakey. And it really covers those dark circles! My old favorite was Armani's Skin Retouch, which is very sheer... I shall continue to use that as an e/s base. But this blows them all out of the water!

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Une Fleur de Cassie
Marianne 6/22/2003 12:23:00 AM
Wow! This is a gorgeous scent, and it really has a hypnotizing appeal... I found myself sniffing my wrist throughout the day, trying to dissect the scent's components and figure out what was so captivating about it. Sweet, but not in that sticky-syrupy way, floral (but not heady nor powdery), a bit of spice to give it kick, and a hint of citrus. Finally, there is a note with a bit of bite... it's quite ephemeral, and I just barely catch it, and cannot put my finger on what it is. I love the way the jasmine and rose are obvious, but subtle at the same time... and the way the spice stays subdued. It's amazing that the cloves are not powdery, as I notice that many scents with cloves can get that way. I will have to revisit this scent to give a better idea of notes. I am not familiar with mimosa (sigh) so it might be that I like this note and no not know it yet. A little goes a long way, and the little bottles are cute!
