Top/Base Coats -Avon - Nail Experts Revitacool Base Coat
Magixz 6/13/2012 1:09:00 PM
Really great stuff! I love how cool and refreshing this is on my nails. When I first tried it, my application was not so great and I did not think too much about it, but after using it for several weeks now, I have learned how to apply it and it is amazingly cool just as the name implies. I think the trick is to realize it is a very thin base coat and needs to be applied gently while paying close attention to getting the coat completely down to the tip and the sides. With it being a thin base coat it is easy to get too much on the brush and then it can go onto your cuticles. If wearing this base coat by itself, 2 coats would be best. JMO This works really well under my polishes too. Great product for the money!
This is a very lovely light pinkish lavender cream color. It is all about Spring & Summer IMO. The polish itself goes on smooth and evenly. I do love the brush and I am fond of the square type bottle. I apply my polish usually holding the bottle of polish between my knees and the shape of the bottle works well in this position. The brush holds a large amount of polish and requires attention to wiping off the excessive amount if you have shorter length nails. Avon cream polishes are way better than so many other of the higher end creams because it seems to even out uniformly even if you do not quite get it on perfectly. I do love that. I will use this color often during the Summer and it is so pretty it may require a backup. I think all age groups will find this shade to be useful and fun.
Polishes -Avon - Nailwear Nail Enamel Midnight Plum
Magixz 6/13/2012 11:55:00 AM
I took away one lippie because I really wanted to see more of a purple in this shade. It is a better color for fall and winter but not something I could wear that often. I do like Avon polishes in general though as they seem to last longer than most store brands when applied correctly with a base and top coat. Dark colors always seem to wear off on the tips of my nails due to house work probably. This is a great shade for those who love the more darker colors especially around Halloween time. Can't quite tell if it is black or purple unless you wear clothing that brings out the plum tint.
I have been enjoying the samples I ordered of this fragrance, and I look forward to getting the bottle on my next order. The notes are listed as mango, spiced chai and mandarin with the heart of saffron rose, coconut milk and jasmine and the base of patchouli, amber, musk and sandalwood. I really love the spice and mandarin notes. I do not pick up much rose or coconut milk. I do notice the jasmine and the patchouli but none of the notes are over done. The combination of them all make a nice scent for sure. I took away one lippie for the lasting ability though. I hope when I get the full spray bottle the lasting power increases. I will update if needed. This is a great new fragrance from Avon and those who know my reviews, know I do not report this often.
Lipstick -Guerlain - Kisskiss Pure Comfort EAU DE ROSE
Magixz 5/25/2012 11:59:00 PM
This is a long discontinued color that I found on Ebay for a very reasonable price. I am very pleased with my purchase. Being an older version of Guerlain lipstick, I did not expect the quality to still be very good, but I was happy to discover, it is still very wearable and beautiful. Some of the fragrance has faded but it does not smell old. It is still very moist and creamy when applied. It is a very light pink with hints of blue, just beautiful. The case is awesome! It is the old time gold case with the rings around it from top to bottom. The top is a bit bigger than the bottom and the ring around the middle has Guerlain engraved in red around it. It is stunning to say the least. Not sure if too many of you younger folks remember these cases, or not, but they scream style and class. There are two more colors in this lineup that I want to get for 'ole time sake and to use of course. These colors are timeless and so are the lovely cases. Wouldn't it be great if the cases were refillable!
I got a buy one get one free so I am happy with the price. I put this one on my toes and I do like it very much. The color is an awesome purple/hazy blue kind of color. It looks one color in bright light and more of a blue in darker light. It is a fun color for sure. I applied 3 coats for the full color. These are my first HD Sally Hansen polishes and I do like them. I think they will last longer due to the polish being so thin at first. To me this means as the polish ages, it will still be usable for longer.
Really great color! Love the sparkles and shine. It was a bit of an effort getting the first coat to go on evenly but after that it went on fine. I put 3 coats on to get the full color. I've had it on for 3 days and still no chips or wear on the ends of my nails. I applied 2 top coats to get that smooth as glass feel that I love in a polish. A good buy at half price.
I have 3 shades of this lipstick and I really do enjoy all of them for their creamy texture and lovely light aroma. I really love the sparkle in 2 of them and the color of Sparkling Miracle # 12 is very pretty. It is a rosy kind of a mauve color and feels so nice on my lips. Another is 01 Frosted. It is a very very light pink with just a hint of color and sparkle. I like it too for outside. The other I have is a white creamy color called Cosnova. It is my least favorite but it is really moist and creamy. I think it would be great as a base coat or just to soften lips. These are awesome lipsticks for the price. They are made in Germany. I think they are good quality.
These I do love! No they are not like Guerlain exactly as they are way smaller & way less expensive, and they are not as shiny on my skin. One thing they do have in common with Guerlain is, they smell wonderful and they do a good job. I actually ordered the Sun Kissed variety and Avon goofed up and sent me the Bronze ones, but I still love the color. I will be ordering the Sun Kissed on my next order. The pearls are kind of tiny and I was afraid they would crumble easy but nope they hold up to my brush. They are more the size of the Physicians Formula brand or the Paul & Joe ones. P.F. though has no smell at all and does not work very well. These new pearls from Avon are right up there with Paul & Joe and Guerlain as far as performance goes and their delightful aroma. If you love pearls, do not want them to glisten, and do not mind a great smelling makeup, you have really got to get some of these! Awesome! I can hardly wait to get the other color. The container is nothing too special but it is great that the lid screws on tight, and there is a heavy duty sponge on top of the pearls protecting them from being bounced around and can be used as a puff if you can't find your brush. ;-) I know because that happened to me just the other day. LOL I put yes to buying this product again as I am thinking about getting another jar of the Bronze ones and adding them to this jar, as well as, 2 jars of the Sun Kissed and making one large jar of those too. I did this with my Guerlain Christmas Edition Meteorites just so I could have enough to last a very long time. Well that and I like the way all those pearls look in there containers. ;-) Just call me strange!
Palettes -Avon - Avon Go Glam 20 Eye Shadow Palette
Magixz 4/24/2012 6:56:00 PM
This palette has 20 eye shadows, 12 lip glosses, and 2 blushes. It is from Avon's Christmas special items. I wasn't going to get it since I tried the smaller one, didn't like it, and thought this one would be like the one's from the department stores, lots of stuff but no quality. Well Avon lowered the price and I decided to give it a good try. I am not happy with it. Very few of the shadows are wearable to me, lots of fall out and little color unless I use a good primer. This palette is designed to be easy to travel with and I think for younger ladies who can wear eye shadow primer without showing all their wrinkles, ;-) I think the colors of the shadows would be very pretty. In some respect they look like the colors in the U.D. Book of Shadows palettes. The lip glosses are the most useful items. The blush are powdery and the colors are not for me. If you like more coral colored blush then these may be for you. Even the darker more rose colored blush comes across as a type of coral on myself. The reduced price is still twice as much as say Ross would charge for a similar item. The packaging is cute. The bottom try with the shadows comes out easy enough but the compartment with the blush and glosses is a nail breaker. I will not be buying this again and I will be asking for credit towards something more useful. I do love that Avon is a great company in that they exchange or give money back if you are displeased for any reason with their products. This is probably why Avon has been in business for so very many years and why I have been an Avon Rep. for the most of my life.
This fragrance is unique but similar in some aspects. I love it! The powder dry down does remind me some of Chanel #5 but not as sickly which is a very good thing. I really enjoy the first initial spray. I am not sure if that is supposed to be the vodka smell coming out but it is not like an over kill of too much alcohol in the mix, or an older bottle that has weakened. It is a blast of something refreshing and stimulating to my senses. It lasted all night on myself! This is a wonderful, hardly ever found luxury anymore! I do appreciate a fragrance that last through out my day or night. It makes me feel like I am getting my moneys worth. This fragrance was a bit over priced to me since I could only find the smaller bottle 1.35 oz. I know I will be wanting the larger bottle if and when I can ever find it. This was a hard find for me. I know ebay has many sellers with this fragrance but ebay is always a last resort effort for me. I have had some luck with ebay but I still do not trust their fragrances are fresh, and a part of me always wonders if they have been tampered with especially if they do not smell exactly right. I guess I had rather spend a few more dollars & know I am getting the real deal. This bottle of BLV Notte is the real deal. It smells fresh & wonderful to my senses.
I do love the smell of this perfume! There is something so lady like about it. It is not over-whelming but yet it is strong enough for even older noses to enjoy. There is a scent of powder to it but not over stated. I do wish it lasted longer is about the only negative thing I can find to say, but then none of the newer fragrances seem to last very long at all anymore. I am sure this is an intentional sales gimmick. If it lasted longer, we would not have to buy a new bottle sooner. I must say though that the lasting quality of an expensive fragrance determines whether I will be likely to repurchase it. If the big companies want the big bucks for their products then they should insure it is a quality product with the greatest lasting ability available.
I am surprised I did not write a review on this product yet! I tried if for like 10 minutes and had to wash it right off! I must have totally forgotten about a review as I took it directly back to the store! I never got a chance to see if it actually made my skin's wrinkles improve. There are few colors to choose from to start out with! I finally chose one that I thought may be okay but upon using it, my skin immediately turned orange! Not just a slight orange, a lot orange. I thought well perhaps it had something to do with my moisture cream turning it orange, so I applied it to my bare skin. Nope, it still turned orange! It is a heavy powder going on but once again I thought perhaps it was due to my moisture cream or the idea it is supposed to help wrinkles. LOL This was not a good buy for myself. I went back and chose the Infallible powder by the same L'Oreal company. This one works best for me.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure - Back to the Fuchsia
Magixz 3/11/2012 12:48:00 AM
I wonder if the other two reviewers got a thin bottle of this color. I did not have a problem with it being sheer or needing more than 2 coats to get total coverage! Ladies if your bottle of polish is too thinned out, just give it a few months or even weeks and it will thicken up. At least this is what I always find to be true when I get a thin polish. I personally found this shade to go on so quick and easy. I always apply Avon Lemon fortifier before I apply any polish lately. It has made a huge difference in the health of my nails and the polish goes on so much easier. As for this color, it is a lovely bright pink for sure and I will wear it more come Spring & Summer. I am very rough on my nails and hands with all the dishes and housework I do all day and so far this color has lasted 4 days with no chips. Even the tips are still looking great and usually by now I have worn off the tips some with the chores no matter what brand of polish I use. I do love the brush and the shape of the bottle is easier to hold onto. I have only 3 colors in this complete salon polish and I would like to increase my stash, but dang, I do think the price is too high considering I always use a mineral base coat and apply a top coat for extra protection. I have not tried these polishes without using either of these yet. It is a good idea to me that I can if I am in a hurry, I guess. A part of me thinks Sally Hansen is trying to keep up with OPI prices and that bothers me because SH has always been a great deal on a great product. I guess everything keeps getting more expensive and that is just the nature of the beast. I do like the polish and I have not had any problems as others have stated.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - John Varvatos for Women
Magixz 3/11/2012 12:03:00 AM
Wow for an inexpensive fragrance, this one is beautiful. The notes are listed as apricot, Damask plum and golden mandarin, with oriental lily, Indian mango blossom, Egyptian jasmine, and Turkish rose. The base has oakmoss, patchouli, Tonka beans and wild honey. Add these all together and it produced a very inviting aroma to my senses. I think this is one of the scents that one can wear any season and it fit right in. There is something about it that reminds me of Christmas spices, not too sure which one of the notes does this though. I bought this one based on reviews I found on MUA and Fragrantica. I am very pleased to report I am loving it very much. Sometimes other people's opinion does not seem to match with my own, but this time it worked out well. Great find for a great price!
