Skincare - Face -Biomedic - Hydro Active EMulsion

This is a very good basic moisturizer that is soothing and moisturizing. Good solid ingredients with soothing antioxidants and beta-glucan. It left my skin dewy and glowing in the morning especially when combined with Conditoning Gel. However, I have found my new grail, La Prairie Suisse De-sensitizing Nurturing Cream...

I've kept a bottle of this in my drawer for 5 or 6 years now. I use it on my nose where I am prone to blackheads during humid weather. I love the way this melts the sebum plugs to oblivion. It keeps my skin clean without being too harsh or drying. A definite keeper for as long as I continue to produce sebum...

Skincare - Face -Ultraceuticals - Ultra-C Treatment Cream
Lizz 8/28/2003 1:34:00 PM
This cream is like wax, hardened wax. So Dr.Heber 'discovered' a way to stabilise Vitamin C by mixing it into wax...hmmm Science aside, the cream is terrible. It really feels like you've got a layer of industrial strength lard on your skin. What's worse is that it dries out your skin like salted haddock! For a cream that thick and greasy, shouldn't it at least feel moisturized??? Worse part was the tiny red bumps. The company, Ultraceuticals, rather than providing a refund, advised that I use it less frequently! Oh, yes, I need an attack of a rash today to match my outfit, why don't I use this cream?! Bitching aside, Ultraceuticals really need to get their formulations and service up to standard! I can't justify paying AUD$108 (it used to be AUD$89 only a month ago) for something that leaves you with a rash, dries your skin out while suffocating it with a layer of waxy grease.

I love this cream, it really soothes my skin and feels very velvety. This is in my repurchase list along with Dr. Hauschka.

I've always been sceptical of expensive department store creams but this has reaped results for me. After a horrible rash from Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lifting Cream I purchased this product. ANd my skin is thanking me, it takes the redness out and soothes my skin. And in the morning my skin looks soft and rosy.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Quince Day Cream
Lizz 8/28/2003 11:08:00 AM
I like this cream, not as much as I love rose day cream but I love the fresh smell of quince much better than heady roses... But I don't find it moisturising enough for me. Still hats off to Dr. Hauschka! So much better, gentler and effective than Jurlique which is really a copy of Dr. Hauschka.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Rose Day Cream
Lizz 8/28/2003 11:06:00 AM
Will purchase again and again. This cream has given me the glow that La Mer is purported to have for some people. La Mer didn't work for me but this gives me the rosy glow for fraction of the price. I can't rave about this product enough, it's the only cream that doesn't sting my skin on sensitive days when everything else (including cetaphil) does!!

Moisturizers -Ultraceuticals - Ultra Moisturiser Cream
Lizz 8/28/2003 10:52:00 AM
I didn't find this very moisturising at all. And I find it hard to justify paying AUD$89 for a cream that contains urea as a major moisturising ingredient. I can get the same thing from a pharmacy for couple of bucks! AGain, a bitter disappointment... Note to myself: never again purchase an entire skincare regime at once!

Moisturizers -Ultraceuticals - Antioxidant Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30+
Lizz 8/28/2003 10:48:00 AM
This is the only product from Ultraceuticals that didn't cause a reaction. But I can't justify how the company can increase their prices from AUD$39 to AUD$65 overnight, quite literally. For the new price, I think there are better quality sunscreens out there... I think Citrix ANtioxidant SPF30 has better formulation. And is alot cheaper even with shipping from USA to AUstralia. I have discovered today, a sunny winter's day in Australia that this SPF 30 provides very little protection! 20 minutes walking in the sun and I am burnt red! This never happens with Citrix SPF30! And yes, I apply a liberal dosage, like a tablespoon on my face alone.

Treatments -Ultraceuticals - Antioxidant Serum
Lizz 8/28/2003 10:44:00 AM
As with all the other Ultraceuticals (except for the SPF30) this serum broke me out in a rash and pimples. Never, never again. The products really pissed on my skin, I wrote to Ultraceuticals and no one has written or called to refund... bad products as well as bad service...

Treatments -Ultraceuticals - Ultra ACE Facial Treatment Cream
Lizz 8/28/2003 10:41:00 AM
I've tried a number of skincare products and this range is right down there with major disappointment. I didn't think it was anything special, I suspect the real work in this cream is done by the 15% lactic acid. ANyway, after 2 weeks or so of using this I developed juicy pimples and rash all over my face. Since I've never broken out since my turbulent teenhood, I highly suspect this cream is the culprit especially since the rash and breakout cleared up with the help of antihistamines and steroid cream...

Treatments -Ultraceuticals - C-10 Serum
Lizz 8/28/2003 10:37:00 AM
I really wanted this product to work for me, in fact I really wanted the Ultraceuticals range to work for me but the range didn't. I received a nasty rash and breakout (at the same time and I never break out) from this and the ACE treatment cream, ACE Mask, ACE Serum. The only product that worked was the Antioxidant SPF30. Even if it didn't cause a reaction I, now, wouldn't buy the line on principle. Ever since the popularity picked up the company increased their retail prices by 30-40% in matter of days. Now C-Serum is AUD$89 as opposed to AUD$69 and the sunscreen is AUD$65 from AUD$39. The overnight (literally) price increase put me right off. Perhaps the company should use the money to improve their formulation to minimize irritation and breakouts, since there are a number of people developing adverse reaction to the range (check vogue.com.au forum, not to mention my sis and mom!!) As well as improve the texture- afterall who wants to walk around with a sticky face and stained clothing??? I think I'll stick to better formulated brands like Skinceuticals and Jan Marini.
