Lipstick -Trucco - matte lipstick Charmed
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/25/2009 2:37:00 PM

When I saw that a lot of stores were discontinuing Trucco products, I bought up more tubes of this shade. Trucco lipsticks have long been my favorite, as they are highly pigmented, creamy, longlasting and just feel so luxurious on the lips. I hope they are not gone forever :( Charmed is a beautiful, versatile, year round plummy neutral shade, truly lovely with just about any skin tone. Only caution: I have found that this brand of lipsticks melt easier/faster than others. When I have ordered them through the mail from ebay they arrived melted and/or smelling badly as if they had expired (didn't have this experience buying them in store).

When I saw that a lot of stores were discontinuing Trucco products, I bought up two more tubes of this shade (and a couple of others). Trucco lipsticks have long been my favorite, as they are highly pigmented, creamy, longlasting and just feel so luxurious on the lips. I hope they are not gone forever :( Courtly is a beautiful fall/winter shade of burgundy brown with a gold metallic finish. It's just SO unique, special, and lovely. Only caution: I have found that this brand of lipsticks melt easier/faster than others. When I have ordered them through the mail from ebay they arrived melted and/or smelling badly as if they had expired (didn't have this experience buying them in store).

Powder -Sonia Kashuk - dual coverage powder foundation
rated 4 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/25/2009 2:25:00 PM

I am very happy with this product, but not as a foundation...I only use it as a setting powder. I took one lippie off because of the "foundation" in the title...I really don't think it works well at all in that capacity. But as a setting powder, it doesn't make me look chalky and does its job really well (it helps to use a brush rather than the sponge that it comes with). I have dry skin and a lot of setting powders make me look cakey/too powdery...not this one. But I do have to reapply it several times a day. Wish it had better staying power. I like the compact packaging it comes with (and the mirror).

Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowCreme in Vintage Violet
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/25/2009 1:31:00 AM

This is a great shadow base, similar to MAC's paint pots, but with a *slightly* creamier texture that makes it easier to apply. It did not crease on me (though I do have pretty dry lids in general). I love this color, as I was looking for a "dupe" or close substitute for MAC's LE nice vice paint pot. This is a good base for purple and plum eyeshadows in particular. It is an almost metallic smokey violet color. I recommend it :)

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Lipstick
rated 2 of 5

The color range is nice, but they smell expired...it's awful. I like the texture but there isn't much staying power. I wouldn't buy it again just because of that awful smell.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass in Prrr
rated 3 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/23/2009 8:06:00 PM

This was one of the first MAC products I tried...after seeing it used on a model with much darker skin than I. In the tube/jar it looks like a nice pale pink...same when swatched. On my lips though, it's just a sticky nearly see-through lipgloss that I could easily dupe with 100 other (cheaper) products. This is not a must have IMO.

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Black Deluxe Shadow Brush
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/23/2009 6:14:00 PM

This is a densely packed, large shadow brush which is ideal for applying shadow to larger lids (it really packs on the color), and also great to use for brow highlighting. The hair span: 5/8 of an inch wide and half an inch tall (that is 3.5 centimeters wide and nearly 3 centimeters tall). The entire brush is just over 6 inches. Not ideal for precision application if that's what you're looking for. The price is 2.50$ right now on Coastal Scents.com... and it is one of the brushes I reach for most. I absolutely love it. You can't beat the price! I would buy another one, but I don't think I will need to as it's easy to clean and has lasted quite a while already. My only caution: It is a lot bigger than it appears in the picture.

Eye Primer -Victoria's Secret - Pro Lasting FX Eyeshadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/22/2009 1:19:00 AM

Just as good as my previous favorite eye primer, TFSI...but for a lot less money! Eye shadow color stays vibrant and will not budge ALL day (even after a 3 hour evening nap when I was sick!). Price wise: The VS tube gives you 8 grams for 8 dollars. TFSI is $17 for 11 grams...So this product is a steal! Only "cautions": The texture feels a bit grainy when first applied (but it doesn't appear grainy at all...it is very smooth). The first time I used it, I had to really "shake"/roll the VS primer tube because the product was separating. When I first applied it, VS primer made my lids sting just a teensy bit...but that went away quickly...that didn't happen any other time.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #165 Contouring Brush [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

I just got this brush and love it! I use it for precise blush application and for highlighter....And it is SO soft. Everything I hoped for :) Only complaint: I do wish MAC brushes came with brush guards to keep their shape after washing

Eye Shadow -MAC - Vibrant Grape
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/16/2009 12:48:00 AM

I too bought the PRO Vibrant Grape (months before Style Warrior came out). When I first bought this eyeshadow online after seeing a swatch ...It looked a lot brighter and over the top than I had expected. I expected a basic purple and got something more magenta like. I decided to keep it just as a fun/going out in the evening color. Then, as I started experimenting more with makeup, I noticed how versatile this color really is. It is well pigmented and blends so well with plum colors, purple colors ....It can be packed on the lid for full effect or used to blend with other colors in a smoky purple eye look. I especially like to use it with MAC's plum dressing and create an almost rasberry color....So in short, I am getting a lot more use out of this color than I expected to when I first bought it! It's right up there with MUFE 92 as a favorite purple. I love its soft, matte texture.

Lipstick -NYX - Ceto
rated 3 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/12/2009 1:04:00 AM

I love most of the colors I have bought from NYX and the price can't be beat for the quality...But this color washed me out and doesn't have much staying power either. There was no "metallic" or frosty quality to it, as I had expected from seeing swatches online and on youtube. On me it applied as a basic nude...not special or exciting at all IMO

Bronzers -Victoria's Secret - Sunspell Bronzer/Highlighter trio (by Christian Siriano)
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/12/2009 12:42:00 AM

Creamy texture (powder form), great color payoff....nice light, neutral bronzer and highlighter for fair skinned girls like me...with very little shimmer and no glitter. It cost $16....Cheapest I have found for this quality and quantity :) My one complaint is minor: the packaging isn't wonderful (plastic gold...shiny so that your fingerprints get all over the packaging)...

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - 24k
rated 4 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/12/2009 12:36:00 AM

I am not much of a gold wearer...but this one caught my attention and wouldn't let go. It's a light neutral pale gold...excellent color payoff, creamy with a beautiful sheen/sparkle and tiny little specks of glitter (not frosty). It's a great color for the inner corner of your lid....You can't beat the $10 dollar price either. I highly recommend it. ETA: This color really "differs" according to the lighting you are in...In the store it had more of a gold tone and less glitter than it did when I used it at home...But I do have more yellow lighting at home which washes yellows/golds out. The saleslady at VS told me it's much more dramatic/intense if you apply it with your fingers...hmmm

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Royalty by Christian Siriano
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/12/2009 12:30:00 AM

GORGEOUS dark, dark matte brown with very little red undertone to it (exactly the color I was looking for). Excellent color payoff, and a rich, velvety texture....I was seriously impressed. And the price (12$ for this eyeshadow) can't be beat for the quality IMO. This is from Victoria's Secret's new line of makeup...and Christian Siriano (of Project Runway fame) has his own mini collection (Royalty is part of that collection). Only complaint: the packaging, particularly for the Christian Siriano line (plastic gold...shiny so that your fingerprints get all over the packaging)...

Lipstick -NYX - Violet Ray
rated 5 of 5
LeeleeBell 8/10/2009 2:56:00 AM

I got this lipstick for 2$ and I am in love with it. Great color payoff/well pigmented and nice texture (tho I do wish it was a bit creamier). I am NC20, brown hair and hazel brown eyes and while this color is "dramatic" that can be offset with a more neutral eye look...And it's a great evening/going out color. I actually paired it with a rosier/lighter lipliner and that lightened the look a bit. But I love it on it's own. SO rich. I call it a grapey wine color with some plum to it, IMO it's also a perfect fall color (if you note the coming trends for fall 09' there are a lot of very dark plums and reds)..
