Conditioner -KMS California - KMS Silker Reconstructor
rated 4 of 5
Lara_L 3/10/2007 2:57:00 PM

KMS Silker Reconstructor is pretty good! Theres a whole range of KMS products on sale at the local drugstore for $AUD3.99, so I've started collecting them. Last night I used a protein treatment which I left on for 5 minutes. Then I applied the Reconstructor because my hair is very dry and it needs a little extra help. I left it on for about 5 minutes, and when I woke up this morning, my hair was all soft and silky :) I will definately keep using it, and maybe I'll stock up on some more KMS products!

Moisturizers -Weleda - Wild Rose Face Oil Capsules
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 3/4/2007 3:17:00 PM

I decided to purchase this because it received such great MUA reviews, and also because I love Weleda products, especially Skin Food! At first I was a bit hesitant when I was told it would cost $AUD42, but then I realised that you only use one capsule per week, and since the jar contains 30 capsules, it nearly lasts you a whole year! I cleansed my skin very thoroughly and then exfoliated using Origins Modern Friction, and toned using Johnsons toner. In the instructions that come with the Face Oil Capsules, you are instructed to apply the oil to the face and blot the excess off after a few minutes, but I found that my skin just drank up all the oil, and I was left with the softest, most glowing skin ever :) I will definitely repurchase this! Weleda products are the best, but so underrated!

Styling Products -John Frieda - Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock Leave-on Perfecting Glosser
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 2/23/2007 4:17:00 PM

I had been using JF Sheer Blonde Spotlight, but I had heard all the raves about Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock so I decided to buy it. My hair, by the way, is dark blonde, or light golden brown, depending how you look at it. I bought Shine Shock without sampling it first, and when I got it home I was really pissed off because it seems to be the exact same product as Spotlight! They are both great products, but did I really need them both? But I washed my hair, used Shine Shock, and when my hair dried, I was amazed to see that my colour looked better than ever, and I didnt get the same result using Spotlight. Shine Shock took out all the brassiness and left me with the most beautiful hair :) Very happy, and will repurchase!

Eye Shadow -Tony & Tina - Color Frequency Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 2/10/2007 3:16:00 PM

A beauty store has opened up right near my train station, and it seems that they have bought up all of the discontinued Tony & Tina stock. You can choose 3 items for a total of $AUD5, which is fantastic! I purchased the Color Frequency Eye Shadow in Encore (shimmer), and in the package it looked like a beautiful, shimmery lavender. When I tried it on, it was less lavender and more of a lovely whiteish-pale-purple and it looks FANTASTIC! The colour is so wearable and flattering, especially for highlighting the inner corner. Also, it wears very well without creasing or fading. I'm going to go back to the store and stock up on as much as I can because this is my new HG :)

Highlighters -Tony & Tina - Environmental Rescue- Herbal Face Dew
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 2/5/2007 2:13:00 PM

I really like this product! I think it is very similar to BECCA Bird of Paradise, except that the BECCA product costs $AUD50, and the Tony & Tina product costs $AUD5 for 3 products! Sweet! At first, I was a little worried that it was just vaseline, but its much more than that, and gives the skin a really healthy glow. I also like to put it on my eyelids, either on its own or over shadow to give that gorgeous effect you often see in magazines, but find it so hard to recreate in real life. And because you only need a tiny little bit, it lasts for a million years!

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 1/23/2007 6:01:00 PM

I was really looking forward to trying Mousse Blush Peach Satin, but the first time I applied it, I used my fingers, and I don't know why but the result was really quite bad. I tried it again this morning, and this time I used a latex sponge and the result was great! Not just beautiful, but also luminous and radiant. Mousse Blush is a wonderful product, and Peach Satin the most beautiful colour :)

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Rose Day Cream
rated 1 of 5
Lara_L 1/21/2007 3:55:00 PM

GROSS! Totally, TOTALLY overpriced (like all Dr Hauschka products)! Instead of absorbing into my skin, it just sat on my face like a greasy layer of fat.

Moisturizers -Origins - Dr Weil Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Cream
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 1/18/2007 3:37:00 PM

I wrote a similar review for Origins Perfect World Skin Guardian, saying that my skin looks better than ever, but because I'm currently trying about 5 new products, I'm not 100% sure which product is responsible for what results. Anyway, I'm liking Mega Mushroom face cream very much (I got a sample jar when I bought a whole lot of stuff from the Origins counter)- it reminds me of my old favourite Skin Food by Weleda, except that Mega Mushroom is better absorbed, feels smoother and softer and doesn't make me look oily or greasy. Even when I apply it in the morning, it stays shine-free under my makeup. The only problem is that it costs $AUD115, and I think that's a little steep. If I can find a similar product for less I'll probably switch to that, but I'm still not totally sure, so I'll finish up my sample jar and then decide! EDIT: I managed to find some BNIB on ebay for $AUD30, which was awesome! So I've been using it regularly, morning and night, and I've just been getting the best results! My skin looks fantastic (if I may say so myself :) )- it looks clear and smooth and perfect! I will definitely keep on using, especially if I can purchase more online. One Q- do you need to use all the products in the Plantidote range? Like if you use the creme, do you also need the serum? Cheers, L

Treatments -Origins - A Perfect World
rated 4 of 5
Lara_L 1/18/2007 3:15:00 PM

I'm not really 100% sure about the efficiency of this, mainly because I've been using about 5 new products and I'm not sure which product is responsible for what benefits. Anyway, Perfect World calms my skin and makes it silky soft and smooth, and my skin has never looked better! However, when I tried some on my boyfriend he broke out all over his nose and his skin's usually very clear and smooth. Im not totally sure that I'll repurchase- I'm keen to try the Plantidote Mega-Mushroom serum because its getting great reviews :)

Scrubs -Origins - Modern Friction
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 1/7/2007 3:33:00 AM

I had high hopes for this, seeing it was so expensive ($AUD75), but it totally lived up to my expectations! When I applied it to damp skin as directed, the texture caught me off-guard (its very thick, like toothpaste, and not overly gritty) but I massaged it in and then left it on for a minute or too. I rinsed it off and my skin felt super clean and smooth, but when I looked in the mirror I was just blown away! My skin was glowing, luminous and clear! Its not often that you can actually *see* the benefits! Now that Ive found this, I'm never letting it go!

I cant believe that the Lash Wand got bad reviews! Its totally the best thing since sliced bread :) I got it as a christmas gift and now i curl my lashes all the time. Its so easy to use and it makes my lashes so long and curly. The best thing of all is that the curl lasts the whole day! Two totally excellent thumbs up!

Shampoo -Mastey - Le Remouver
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 12/20/2006 9:17:00 PM

This stuff is great! My hair is quite dry, and I was a little nervous about using a clarifying shampoo, but I do use a lot of product, so I guess it was necessary. Anyway, I followed the directions (massage into wet hair, leave at least one minute, shampoo out) and straight away, my hair felt so silky and smooth! Now that its dry it feels better than ever, still all silky and soft. And Im pretty sure that it doesnt contain any cones/sulfates! Two totally excellent thumbs up!

Treatments -L'Oreal - ReNoviste Anti-Aging Glycolic Peel Kit
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 12/11/2006 2:45:00 PM

I just don't know how this got such bad reviews!!! I loved it! I've wanted this kit for so long but i was waiting for it to go on sale (its usually $AUD39.95 but i wanted to pay about $AUD29.95!) The i went into Coles last week and they had it on sale for $AUD15!!!! So i snapped it up and used it last night and i am just amazed with the results. It was really easy to use, didnt hurt or feel uncomfortable and left my skin so very, very soft. And thats after only one treatment! Cant wait to see what happens after ive used it for a few weeks!!!

Hair -John Frieda - Sheer Blonde Spotlight
rated 5 of 5
Lara_L 12/11/2006 4:45:00 AM

I purchased this because it was on sale at my supermarket for $AUD5 (it usually retails for about $AUD17!) but also because its had some pretty good MUA reviews. Anyway, I have really thick, dry hair that usually takes ALOT of product (serum) to tame. But with Spotlight, I applied the tiniest little bit into wet hair and it dried lovely and soft, so smooth with no frizz! The best of all is that when i use my serum, because i need to use so much of it, my hair gets dirty really quickly. But because i only need the tiniest bit of Spotlight, my hair stays clean for days. And because you only need a little, the tube will last for ages :) Very, very happy!

Primer/ Corrector -Clarins - Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
rated 1 of 5
Lara_L 10/12/2006 5:03:00 PM

I can't believe this stuff! I live in Australia and had wanted to purchase this for a long time, and i was overjoyed when i finally received a sample! i mean, its had the best reviews, and sounded really great. When my boyfriend saw it, he was like 'it would be a whole lot cheaper if i just bought you some spakfiller!', and when i got around to using it, he was totally right! it was really thick and solid and sat on my face like a big smothering layer- i hate to think how it must block up pores! when i went to put my foundation on over the top, it wouldn't go on like it usually does! it just sat on top of the primer like an oil slick, and wouldnt absorb into my skin like it should! This prouduct was one of the most overhyped pieces of crap i have ever had the misfortune to use! I will never purchase- i'm so glad i only got a sample!
