Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes

Boo. I wanted to like this, as I use Lancome Definicils. The mascara actually went on better than Definicils, in that in didn't clump as much and looked natural while giving me the guaranteed "wide-eyed look." It didn't hold my curl, though, and when I re-curled my lashes they stayed put but the mascara flaked off. I was horrified when I looked in the mirror later and had become a raccoon. Definicils goes on a bit clumpy but stays on without flaking... the search for an HG mascara continues.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Chocolate Soleil

I love this bronzer! It works on my super pale skin without looking fake because it's matte and very buildable. Illumasqua's bronzing duo was recommended to me at Sephora, but the sparkles in the bronzer were obvious and the lightest color was too dark. This is much better. It does seem to wear off during the day, but I'd rather deal with that than a streaky, fake mess that stays put. I wear it on my hairline, under cheekbones, jawbone, sides of nose, and underneath the nose. P.S., it smells like chocolate!

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 4 of 5

I wasn't expecting to like this, as I got a sample in medium and am as pale as pale can be (think Irish, but translucent). I was pleasantly surprised to find that this went on easily (without crowding into my pores, making the too-dark shade stand out, or showing imperfections like dry patches). I would definitely buy this in the light shade. The fact that I made it work in a shade that was too dark for me shows what a lovely, blendable TM it is. Admittedly, the coverage is very sheer and does little to cover imperfections, but it won't exacerbate them. Most importantly, it doesn't look like makeup. And, a little goes a long way.

Primer/ Corrector -Korres - Quercetin & Oak Antiageing Face Primer
rated 5 of 5

Pros: this smells WONDERFUL, it never breaks me out and appears to be good for my skin, it performs its basic job as a primer, helping foundation go on more smoothly and minimizing the appearance of pores. It also feels nice on your skin and gives foundation a dewy look. It's very slippery, so it's easy to apply and a little goes a long way. I actually looked better (skin looked younger and more dewy) after applying this and Maybeline's BB Cream than I did after Smashbox color correcter primer and La Mer TM. Cons: If you use too much or are already wearing (dried) moisturizer on your face, it has a tendency to ball up. If you don't smooth out all the clumps before applying foundation, your foundation will clump as well. I would use this sparingly over moisturizer (and make sure that your moisturizer won't ball up when rubbed).

Eye Makeup Remover -Kate Somerville - True Lash - Lash Enchancing Eye Makeup Remover
rated 2 of 5

I hate to be the voice of dissension, but this product smeared my makeup around my eyes and stung. I had to follow it with Lancome's bi-facil to remove everything. My eyes were red and teary after use. I think using a creamy remover on a cotton ball leads to smearing in and of itself because you can't be exact in the same way you are with a q-tip. In terms of lash enhancement, I'd rather use bi-facil and follow up with a brush-on enhancer than attempt a 2-for-1 with this. I had to use a pea-size amount and still couldn't remove everything, which seems excessive given that you only need to dunk a q-tip into bi-facil.

Liquid -BeneFit Cosmetics - "Hello Flawless!" Oxygen Wow

I got this as a sample at Sephora in the lightest shade. I used a primer but the foundation looked cakey on my skin and showed every dry spot. Admittedly, I hadn't exfoliated my skin in a few days and I know foundation goes on best with a smooth canvas. But I don't need foundation that works against me, since I have good skin as is and just want minimal coverage to even out the tone. It looked so bad that I had to remove it and start over, this time with Laura mercier TM. LM made my dry, unexfoliated skin look better. I'll try the benefit again with a better skin-prep job, but why use a foundation that only works when your skin is at its best? Edit: I said I would try this again when fully exfoliated - well, it didn't work out. I didn't have to start all over again, but when I looked very closely I could see chalky coverage, foundation in my pores, and every single imperfection (even with primer). It actually made my skin look more matte and dull than it does with La Mer TM and Laura Mercier TM (non-illuminating), my HG foundations. I'm an Irish girl, and the Ivory wasn't light enough for my skin, although I appreciated that it was yellow-toned instead of pink. Not worth it - it's more expensive than LM; girls, trust me, try LM before buying this.
