Makeup Brushes -Ruby & Millie - Cheek Brush
Cordelia 9/8/2003 5:43:00 AM
I love this brush. I bought this after trying and liking a few of R&M's eye brushes. I don't remember exactly how much I paid, but I know it was very reasonable for such a good quality brush. The head of the brush is smaller than a lot of blush brushes on the market, but I like this, as it is easier to be precise in applying blush. The head is nice and full, and the bristles are wonderfully soft. I have experienced no shedding with it. The brush comes in a ziplock bag, with instructions on how to use it on the reverse. R&M advise to press the flat side of the brush into the blush. This is the method I like to use. The blush picks up a nice amount of product and deposits it evenly on the skin. It also cleans very well with a little Johnson's baby wash. Totally recommend this brush.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Forte Pastel
Cordelia 9/3/2003 5:58:00 AM

I think the shade I have in this is called Mauve - it's a milky-looking pink in the bottle. I use this on bare nails, and it gives them a nice natural colour and shine. I don't really have problems with my nails, and I always keep them short, so I can't honestly say I noticed whether this strengthens them. One thing about it is that when it wears off, it doesn't chip. It's almost as if it softens and just rubs off. I'm not sure whether this is due to the ingredients, or the fact that it is a treatment product. It usually lasts about 2 days, before the tips start to wear off. I can usually get away with it for about 5 days without touching up, however, as the wearing off is so subtle. It looks lovely on, and I like that it gives me a polished look without much effort. EDITED: After using this a few more times, I'm taking another lipstick off for the fact that after a day or 2, and as it wears off, the whole finish seems to turn sticky. Also, it has worn off quite quickly on some of my nails. I like the finish when I apply it, but I wouldn't repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip Polish - Garnish
Cordelia 9/3/2003 5:28:00 AM
I got this when I had a Cabana Girls makeover at the Stila counter, along with the Banana Daquiri trio and Lillium Convertible Colour. I love to wear these products together; they give me a nice, polished summer look. Garnish is a lovely warm "lollipop" pink, and looks very pretty on my lips. I like the Lip Polish formula - you get the shine of a gloss with the colour intensity of a lipstick. At first I found the click pen hard to use, but after a few goes I got used to it. The brush makes it easy to apply the product, without using too much of it. The price of these is their one downfall. For the amount of product you get, they are really expensive, and I wouldn't purchase these regularly for that reason. If I was buying a couple of other products from a colour story (as I was with Cabana Girls), and I thought the Lip Polish would complete the look, I might splash out, but in general these are far too expensive for what you get.

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop - Face/ Body Brush
Cordelia 9/2/2003 9:34:00 AM
This is a really nice brush. The bristles are nice and soft and there has been no shedding. The head is nice and full, but is still easy to use on areas like under the eye. Also very reasonably priced. Highly recommended for anyone who wants good quality brushes without having to pay ridiculous prices.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Sweetie
Cordelia 9/2/2003 8:28:00 AM
I love the Lustre lipstick formula. I like the way it feels like nothing on my lips, I like the shine, and I like that they can be sheer and yet still show a nice amount of colour. Sweetie is described as "Fluffy Tone Pink" by MAC. It's a natural pink on my lips, with pretty shimmer. The colour is not very strong, but when I'm going for a natural look, it makes me look that bit more polished. As with all MAC lipsticks, I love the vanilla scent. I've taken off one lipstick for the fact that the colour does not really show up, but as I love MAC Lustre lipsticks, this is one neutral colour that I would buy again.

Lotions/ Creams -Caudalie - Soin Nourrisant (body cream)
Cordelia 9/1/2003 6:02:00 AM
I love this lotion. It's really rich and creamy - perfect for when the seasons are changing and my skin gets dry and itchy. It has a light, floral scent - not overpowering at all, but I like the scent anyway. This really helps my upper arms, which have those little dry, red spots. When I use this lotion, they seem to disappear, and the skin there looks much better. I find this lotion a little hard to rub into my skin, but I don't mind this too much for the comfortable feeling it leaves behind after application. Love it!

Mascara -Lancome - Flextencils
Cordelia 8/28/2003 8:53:00 AM
I'm currently using a GWP size of Flextencils in Noir, and I also have the full-size version from a value-pack purchased in airport shopping. I will use the full-size one, but I don't think I'd spend that much money on mascara again, when I can find drugstore ones just as good. Flextencils lengthens and thickens my lashes slightly, but not dramatically. What it does do really well is give hold. I don't use a curler, but I notice that when I apply the mascara and sort of hold my lashes up for a few seconds with the wand, they stay that way for the rest of the day. They fall down with other mascaras I've used. I have this in Noir, but it isn't as black as I'd like. I like really inky black mascaras; this seems to be less dark than that. It's a nice mascara, just not special enough for me to spend big money on.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Honey lipbalm with SPF 15
Cordelia 8/28/2003 6:21:00 AM
I used the Honey lip care stick years ago, but them moved on to other products. I decided to repurchase this summer, when I needed a good lip balm with SPF. This product will not suit you if you don't like the scent of honey - it smells quite strongly of real honey. However, I like honey, so this is fine by me! The balm is very thick, but spreads easily once it's warmed up. It lasts really well, and leaves my lips feeling comfortable and moisturised for hours after use. The SPF 15 is also great. My one problem with the packaging is that the tube is the type with the wind-up mechanism which consists of a screw-like plastic part in the middle of the balm stick. I find that after a while this winding mechanism stops working, often before the product is finished. So far I haven't had a problem with it.

Lip Treatments -Laura Mercier - lip silk
Cordelia 8/28/2003 6:16:00 AM
This product did not work at all for me. It is a thick balm that comes in a squueze tube. The balm is colourless and scent-free. It applies easily to the lips. I only used this once - I applied it at night and left it on overnight. When I woke in the morning my lips were dry and sore, and the dry, cracked feeling did not go away for another 4 days. Definitely wouldn't use again, though it might suit others, as my lips are quite sensitive.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Boy Magnet Lipglass
Cordelia 8/28/2003 6:09:00 AM
OMG, this is my holy grail lipgloss. It's disappointing that it's a LE shade. Boy Magnet is a bright fuchsia pink with blue undertones, although the blue doesn't show at all on application. It's a deeper pink than Pink Poodle, and doesn't have the shimmer. I can apply it lightly on its own for "just ate a popsicle" lips, or for nighttime, apply it over Groovy Move lipstick for a more glam look. I have fair skin with freckles, but this isn't too over the top on me - it really brightens up my face and I get lots of compliments when I wear it.

Brows -MAC - Brow Set
Cordelia 8/26/2003 6:36:00 AM
I use Brow Set in clear, and it is one of my staple products. The gel goes on smoothly and holds my unruly brows in place all day. There is never any flaking, and it looks very natural on. The only problem I have with the packaging is that the tube is clear. After using this a couple of times, the gel turns cloudy (I apply it after powder), and doesn't look so pretty in the tube, though it still works fine. Just a minor point :)

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Coygirl
Cordelia 8/26/2003 6:33:00 AM
The Sheertone blushes are the only blush formula by MAC that I have tried, and I am hooked! The blush is really smooth, it even feels beautiful if you just touch it with your fingertip :) Coygirl is a nice cool pink with mauve - very neutral. I find it shows up well on my cool skintone, and also lasts well. I like the sturdy compact it comes in, and the product will last forever.

Eye Shadow -Cargo - Cannes Eye Shadow
Cordelia 8/26/2003 6:30:00 AM
Cargo eye shadows come in cute little round silver tins. Cargo is the only shade I own, but I really like it. It's a shimmery lavender/pink, which applies really smoothly, and brightens up the eye area nicely. I usually wear this on it's own with lots of black mascara, and it's a nice, neutral eye.

Concealers -Giorgio Armani - Skin Retouch concealer
Cordelia 8/26/2003 6:28:00 AM
Love this concealer. I wear it in #2, the same as I wear in the LSF and in the powder. It comes in an adorable compact. It looks quite hard in the compact, but it actually has a nice "slip" to it, and applies very easily with a fingertip, or with a brush. I use it on dark circles under my eyes, and to cover up redness around my nose, and it does a great job on both. It never looks streaky or sinks into my pores. It is quite expensive, as with all Armani products, but it lasts a long time, so I think it's worth it.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Banana Daquiri Trio
Cordelia 8/25/2003 3:20:00 PM
I love this trio. The colours are basic, but perfect for an everday neutral look. I apply the middle shade all over the lid, the lightest shade as a higlighter on the browbone and washed over the lid, and the darkest smudged at the outer corner. These stay on really well when I use a base, and look really pretty on.
