Lip Gloss -Origins - Liquid Lip Shimmers
rated 4 of 5

Like the previous reviewer, I think the best things about this gloss are the smell (like Andes Candies choco mints) and the texture - silky but not sticky. I prefer more pigmented glosses but I wear this happily over liner or lipstick. Nice shimmer as well. I purchased this gloss in Sangria, a pale raspberry shimmer.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Foundation Primer - Bronze [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Cland 9/12/2006 10:54:00 AM

I don't want to be too redundant in describing this product as others have already done it so well. I have been a regular user of clear Photo Finish for a while now and have really liked it, but the Bronze version blows the clear away. It imparts a really subtle glow that comes through even when wearing a light foundation. I use Philosophy Supernatural Airbrush Canvas over the BPF and all the sudden I look really healthy and sunkissed without looking tan and it doesn't look weird against my neck and chest which haven't been touched by the sun lately. I haven't gotten to the bottom of a primer bottle yet to experience the irritation of not being able to get out the rest of the product, but I'm sure that will piss me off too lol. I do HATE the fact that Smashbox uses that same stupid top on its primers and foundations that doesn't stay on EVER. It is my great hope that someday they will figure out that there are about a gazillion other ways they could be packaging these proucts more effectively.

Lotions/ Creams -Skindecent - Whipped Moisture Cream
rated 5 of 5
Cland 9/12/2006 10:47:00 AM

This is easily my favorite body moisturizer these days. Great silky whipped texture. Long-lasting moisturizing properties. Huge selection of fragrances (currently using Pink Grapefruit). The only thing I don't like is the fact that it's in a tub (things in a tub are always a turn off to me because I have long-ish nails) but it's not enough of a problem to hamper my enthusiasm for the cream itself. Also, the owner, Marliss, gives some of the best customer service I have experienced with any company large or small. And it's nice that, as a Canadian company, she offers Purolator shipping (small upcharge) to the US rather than having to wait for standard air mail. This company rocks!

Bath Treatments -Skindecent - Body Polisher
rated 4 of 5
Cland 9/12/2006 10:31:00 AM

I'm a big fan of Skindecent products so I am always happy to try things from her store. What I loved about this scrub most is the packaging - not having to dig in a tub of scrub while in the shower, no lid to screw on and off and put somewhere, thin bottle that is easy to store on ledges. Also the scrub itself works well exfoliation-wise, just like the Bermuda Beach Smoother. What I didn't like was the high oil content. Just too much for me for any kind of regular use, but I know that is what appeals to a lot of people about it, so it just depends on what you are looking for. She is coming out with a new scrub called Sheen Appeal so I will be interested to see where that one comes in on the packaging and oil spectrum :)

Scrubs -Skindecent - Bermuda Beach Smoother
rated 5 of 5
Cland 9/12/2006 10:20:00 AM

This is easily my HG bath scrub. I've also tried the body polisher which is too oily for my tastes but this, as everybody else has said, really perfects the balance between exfoliation and moisturizing properties. I think the scents can be hit or miss and they are very strong (a plus point for me) so you may want to try some of them out in cheaper products (or small container of this) before splurging on the big tub of BBS. So far, the ones I have liked most: butter cookies, mango mimosa, caribbean bounty, pink lemonade, pink grapefruit, clean woman, bamboo. The ones I have liked least: a peach-based one which I no longer see on their list (strange green peppery after-smell), cream cheese frosting.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Enhance
rated 5 of 5
Cland 9/10/2006 4:50:00 PM

I received this item new in a recent swap and I am totally in love. Smashbox makes awesome glosses - non-sticky texture, no scent/taste, good variety of colors. This particular shade of sheer berry with subtle shimmer is beautiful ( I love it paired with MAC dollymix blush) for a very natural yet flushed look (like you just got done doing something naughty! lol). Because I have thinnish lips that sometimes "bleed" at the edges, I prefer to wear a liner with my glosses and this goes perfectly with Smashbox sheer lipliner in Smashing Editor (couldnt see the liner at all once the gloss was on!).

Primer/ Corrector -Clarins - Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
rated 5 of 5
Cland 9/7/2006 11:46:00 AM

I really love foundation primers and it's a toss-up for me whether I like this better than the Smashbox Photo Finish which has been a staple in my makeup bag for a while now. The Clarins is great because it is thicker and has heavier coverage and doesnt just fill in pores but also smooths out areas on my face that seem kind of rough to me. It does FEEL a bit heavier too, though, so I alternate between my two types depending on what I am doing. Itypically don't like things that come in small pots because i have long nails but Clarins at least includes a little spatula with your purchase so it doesnt get my goat like other products. Overall, I think this is a great primer and will definitely purchase again.

Moisturizers -MAC - Studio Moisture Fix
rated 5 of 5
Cland 9/7/2006 11:28:00 AM

I was skeptical about this moisturizer after reading the reviews here, but I'm glad I decided to give it a try. I live in a pretty dry climate in Colorado and since moving here two years ago, it has totally wreaked havoc on my skin, making me dry and flaky in some spots and just kind of rough and horrible in others. Moisture Fix is a bit heavier than some of the other moisturizers I have used (tho it is still lightweight), but it soaks into my skin better and when I use it regularly and wear it under my foundation primer, all my dry skin issues disappear. It may not be perfect for everybody but it has been fabulous for me. Also, I don't have trouble with breakouts with or without this product so I can't comment too much on that aspect.

Lip Gloss -Bourjois - Effet 3-D Glossy Lipstick Euphoric
rated 5 of 5
Cland 8/21/2006 10:00:00 AM

Really cool gloss to wear over other glosses or lipstick to add gold and sparkle. I never wear this on it's own as it wouldn't look good on my pale lips or with my skintone, but it's fabulous paired with other shades, just in the center of the lip.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass in Little VI [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Cland 8/21/2006 9:58:00 AM

Nice plummy pink. I wear alone for a shimmery close-to-natural look or on top of lipstick for more punch. Like all lustreglasses, I like the texture and scent of this, though my hair is infinitely attracted to my lips - grrr!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass in Budding
rated 4 of 5
Cland 8/21/2006 9:55:00 AM

Very pretty and wearable color. I take off one lippie because the color is a bit too peachy coral-y for my specific tastes and not a true pink like I thought it would be. Still very pretty and definitely has its place in my collection.

Lip Gloss -Too Faced - Box of Chocolates
rated 3 of 5
Cland 8/18/2006 12:41:00 PM

I think this is really great value for the money, particularly if you like really sheer glosses. I prefer more pigmented colors, though, so there are only a few shades in this set that I really use. But as other reviewers have noted, it's a LOT of product for the money. The downside to all that volume is that the package is quite voluminous as well and if you apply it at home, there's a good chance you wont have room to take it with you.

Eyeliner -Too Faced - Liquif-Eye
rated 4 of 5
Cland 8/18/2006 12:36:00 PM

I actually have two of these - one for blacks/browns/seriously dark shades and then another for colors. I really love this because it helps me make use of the stupid amount of eyeshadow I have, but I find the applicator hard to keep perfectly pristine, hence the two bottles. I think this gives pretty much the same effect as using a regular flat angle brush with some water, but because of it's water resistant properties, it doesnt smudge like just using water and shadow together.

Brows -Smashbox - Brow tech
rated 4 of 5
Cland 8/17/2006 4:56:00 AM

This is the best brow product I have used to date. The taupe color, though, does come out slightly too red for me (which is making me think my brows are like green or something!) but overall still a good effect. Hopefully the blonde will work out even better. The wax is far superior to any brow gel application I have used in the past.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream mousse blush in soft plum [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
Cland 8/16/2006 9:54:00 PM

I have very mixed feelings about this blush. It is the perfect rosy pink for my NW25 skin, blends VERY easily, layers well and is very nice and smooth. What ruins it for me is the glass jar. I have slightly long nails (maybe 1/8 inch past my finger) and it is impossible for me, after just a few applications, not to totally ruin my french manicure and get stupid cream so deep between my nail and fingertip that i want to scream. For the same reason, I always now seem to get too much product on my fingers as well - more than I need for application. I could probably find ways to do it using other implements but I want blushes like this for ease of use and convenience. While I realize that this kind of packaging is necessary, there's no reason that they couldn't have created a wider, more shallow container that held the same amount of mousse.
