Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Quench Body Lotion Extra Dry Skin
ChristinaMarieT 3/13/2012 3:05:00 AM
This is a really great lotion. It sinks into skin immediately after application. Skin becomes softened and very nourished. I couldn't stop rubbing my legs whenever I used this, lol. It gave me 48 hours worth of hydration before I had to start reapplying some more. There is shimmer in it, but that never really bothered me. I do think this is the best drug store body lotion you can find. It's cheap, so buy away!

Liquid -L'Oreal - infallible never fail makeup
ChristinaMarieT 3/13/2012 2:49:00 AM
This is a very average foundation. It gives medium coverage, works best on already prepped faces (exfoliated and moisturized), doesn't turn skin orange, has a slightly thick consistency, dries quickly, gives a dewy finish and is safe for dry skin... ...Yet on the other hand, it comes with an annoyingly clear cap that is destined to get stained. The pump gets clogged rather easily. The staying power isn't strong and will most likely come off in the middle of the day. Beware rain and sweat or this will melt right off your face. It's good for short-term use, but not for long days at school or work. I just wasn't overly impressed after it melted away on my graduation day. I'd give this a 3.5 lippy if possible, but I believe 4 lippies would be too complimenting.

Masks -The Body Shop - Honey & Oat Scrub Mask
ChristinaMarieT 3/12/2012 4:03:00 PM
I love this mask! It's £9.00 for 100 ml. It's somewhat comparable to Lush's Oatfix mask. It smells a lot like oatmeal, but once it's applied onto your skin, you can definitely smell the honey. Unlike Oatfix, this is very easy to apply. The application is smooth, and since it's not hard to get on, you don't have to worry about overusing and quickly running out of product. The color is greyish and you can see the little bumps from the oats. It's a 3 in 1 mask, meant to cleanse, polish, and moisturize. This product is best for dry skin. When applied, you can feel the mask tingling your skin and even warming it up. I don't mind this, because it doesn't irritate, and I take this as a sign that the mask is doing its job. It recommends to leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, but I do 20. Over time, the mask hardens onto your face. When I washed it off, I instantly noticed that my complexion was incredibly clear. My skin looked like it was deeply cleansed; It was extremely radiant and very polished. It did feel and look exfoliated, which I was mildly surprised about, because I didn't really think that the mask would do this. Everything about my skin looked new and fresh. The texture was so baby-soft, that there is no doubt about it in my mind on it moisturizing. It also unclogs pores, so if you have a few blackheads of any kind, expect most, if not all, to disappear after using this. I will definitely buy this mask again. It works so much better than Lush's Oatfix mask (it also offers more product and is more reasonable for its price), and it intensely helps my dry skin out. Luckily, if the price is any issue to you, The Body Shop often has loads of sales online and in store, so you have many opportunities to get this on discount. Plus, if you have their Love Your Body card, after a certain amount purchased, you can get a £10.00 gift for free, which enables you to get this without paying at all. Overall, this is a mask worth trying. People with dry skin must try this!

Gels/Soaps -Aveeno - Stress Relief Body Wash
ChristinaMarieT 3/12/2012 3:54:00 AM
This is really cheap and the amount provided is good; My father got this for $3.75 and it's around 350 ml. The gel itself is very clear, the texture is thick and well... gel-like. It smells heavily of lavender with a second note of chamomile. Oddly enough, when you actually use it on your body, the smell starts to become more soapy, and even begins to smell more like an ordinary bar of soap with only a hint of the lavender and chamomile. Although the scent does dissolve once outside bottle, it still stays as a heavy aroma in the shower. I didn't have high expectations for this shower gel to start with, but I also didn't think it would irritate my skin the way it did. When I started washing myself with it, I begun to feel itchy, something that normally never happens to me. My skin is not overly-sensitive towards products, so this was really worrisome. But the feeling started to subside as I washed it off, and it was then when I noticed that my skin was left feeling very moisturized! I've yet to feel my skin so softened by a body wash alone, that I was legitimately surprised and had to double check by constantly touching my skin, lol. Also, the scent still lingers on you after you're done washing. For me, I don't mind this, because its a very clean and peaceful scent. This is definitely the type of shower gel you'd use before going to bed. So, even though this made my skin feel itchy at first, the moisture it provided more than made up for it. My skin is so soft and refreshed, it's a bit unbelievable. I'm not sure if I'd actually buy this or continue using it because of the mild irritation, but I definitely do recommend people trying it.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
ChristinaMarieT 3/11/2012 11:23:00 PM
Thankfully, I never bought this and only received it as a gift. The whole 3-step system was just drying for my skin. At first, it appeared as if my skin (although dry as heck at this point) felt very cleansed and clear. It seemed as if my acne was being prevented and I owed it to this product. For that reason, I stuck with it. However, over time, pimples would come back and using this did absolutely nothing to combat them. I was very young though, in the midst of beginning puberty and really battling a rough patch with hormones. I think I can chalk up the momentary time of clear skin due to my fluctuating hormones, and hormones only. I'm not acne-prone at all now, just an occasional pimple here and there (mainly around that time of month); My complexion is almost always clear. So basically, what I'm saying is that this is a product only successful in advertising and famous promotions. It doesn't do anything miraculous. For dry skin, beware, this will only make your problems worse. Don't waste your money on this junk.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Japan Yuzu & Rice Body Milk
ChristinaMarieT 3/11/2012 3:24:00 PM
This is a lightweight spray-on moisturizer with a very milky appearance and texture. It contains sesame seed oil, babassu oil, and yuzu extract. The Body Shop claims it has a subtle citrus scent, but I don't think so at all; It smells more floral to me. It's 250 ml for £10.00. I love using this spray for the dry, sensitive areas on my body. It's perfect for the places where you can't apply lotion because of the risk of clogging up your pores. This quickly absorbs into skin. The scent does linger and is present throughout the day, but it remains subtle and soft, so it won't clash with other fragrances you wear. As far as describing how the scent is, it's pretty much a standard floral smell that you expect in Japanese based products. I personally find it to be very pretty smelling. I gave this 4 lippies instead of 5 because I have dry skin, and this is a LIGHT moisturizer. I can only use it on specific areas on my body, and I know it will only satisfy those dry areas in particular (though, on the bright side, this makes it more long-lasting because I don't use as much). I wouldn't recommend this for very dry skin or very oily skin. It's best for those skin types in between.

Lipstick -The Body Shop - Colourglide Lip Colour (Lipstick)
ChristinaMarieT 3/11/2012 1:08:00 AM
These lipsticks are amazing. They're £9.00 each, and a bit smaller than the average lipstick. They come in a variety of colors, so explore away. They're also very moisturizing and long-lasting. They're sturdy and won't break at the teensiest of pressure, but they still softly glide on. The texture is creamy and the application is smooth. The packaging is very efficient, tidy and convenient for purses or small makeup bags; They're not at all unnecessarily bulky. However, they're definitely not food or drink resistant, so be careful. I have colors in #54 Pastel Rose and #56 Soft Beige. Pastel Rose is a flattering, soft pink that will most likely compliment any skin tone. Not one bit overwhelming, it's innocent, feminine, and perfect for smokey eyes. Soft Beige is more nude, more natural, and gives a subtle classy, sultry look. For more color intensity, you can build up the layers you apply. Both shades are just absolutely beautiful. I would definitely re-buy, no questions about it. I recommend everybody to at least try the lipstick, even if they don't think this may do what they're looking for. I first had low expectations, and even after first use, I still thought it was only average. But now, my mind has definitely changed after using it more. Be open minded! On a side note, if you do plan on ordering them online, be careful; The colors are lighter than they appear in real life. If you can, try to purchase inside the store for a more accurate impression.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Coconut Lip Butter
ChristinaMarieT 3/11/2012 12:41:00 AM
So overpriced, but at the same time, rather addictive. I suggest purchasing this when there are sales, otherwise you'll be a bit ripped off. This lip butter smells delicious. It smells like dessicated coconut and coconut milk. Its scent is very similar to their Coconut Body Butter. It melts instantly from the warmth of a fingertip, and becomes easy to glide over your lips. It's very moisturizing, and very good to use under lipstick. I also find the packaging to be cute, identical to the body butter, but Barbie-sized. Yet, I dislike how it gives your lips a white sheen. It's as if you ate cake and your lips still had a glossy appearance from the vanilla frosting -- just not an attractive look. Also, I noticed the lip butter gets a hard, somewhat crusty texture after being used and not picked up for a while. It's kinda gross, in all honesty. I'm sure you can find lip balms similar to this for cheaper and perhaps, they may even be better, but this is the only one I've found that completely soaks into your lips and lasts for a long time. It doesn't just sit on top of the skin. I really can only describe it as a body butter made for your lips! If you have dry skin, you know how well body butter quenches it, and well, dry, chapped lips will get the same feeling from this lip butter. It's just so good to use under lipstick, that it's hard to pass up. Like I said, if there's a sale, get it. If there isn't, don't.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Strawberry Bath and Shower Gel
ChristinaMarieT 3/10/2012 10:33:00 PM
The strawberry scent in this is very noticeable, and it does smell realistic to a certain extent, but there is also a really strong note of something artificial in there. Artificial fruit scents really turn me off, so that was quite disappointing. Fortunately, the scent doesn't linger. On the other hand, it does leave you squeaky clean, so that's a redeeming feature... But even then, a product that makes you squeaky clean can also be really drying, so this is not ideal for those with dry skin. Honestly, this really could have been an awesome shower gel if it wasn't for its lack of moisturizing and its obvious artificial scent. Those factors leave this product to be very average. However, I did say I'd buy this again, but that would only be on a whim in desperate times, since this is only £4.00 for 250 ml.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - The Little Bubble Co - Vanilla Biscuit
ChristinaMarieT 3/10/2012 12:23:00 AM
This shower gel is sold in Boots. It's extremely cheap, selling at £2.99 for 500 ml! There are no parabens, it's allergen free, they don't test on animals, they're vegetarian friendly, and you can also recycle the bottle when you're done. The packaging is cute, with little fun comments printed on it. There is no cheap look to it, which is especially nice, considering the price is cheap. As far as the actual gel goes, it smells absolutely delicious. Its vanilla scent is mainly the back note, hidden behind the caramel drizzled, baked cookie smell. I love how the scent is not at all hard to find; It's very prominent. However, after showering, it only lingers subtly, leaving room for any other fragrances you wish to use. The texture is light, and somewhat a bit more milky than what you'd expect from a gel (which I honestly prefer). It cleans very well, very thoroughly, and even moisturizes. Basically, I cannot find one negative thing about this shower gel. To me, it's just perfect.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
ChristinaMarieT 3/8/2012 10:27:00 PM
You'd think a volumizing mascara with the name "colossal" would provide miraculous results, but unfortunately, it's just another example of false advertising. The formula is too wet, so it clumps a lot. It takes a while to dry, and when it does, expect it to flake quite a bit. It can make your eyelashes crunchy and crumbly. It gives an average amount of volume, nothing huge and spectacular that you'd expect from the name. If you have short lashes, this only seems to accentuate that fact, making them look stubby and glued together with product. The color is a very pigmented and dark black, so it makes your eyelashes noticeable and draws attention to the eyes (this would probably be a very good thing for those with blonde eyelashes or blue eyes). It gives very little length, nothing above average, either. In a nutshell, I feel like this mascara is a big disappointment. It doesn't back up the impression it gives, so it's a waste of money and time.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Skintimate Moisturizing Cream Shave - Dry Skin
ChristinaMarieT 3/8/2012 7:29:00 PM
I absolutely love this shaving cream! It prevents razor burn, it prevents razor nicks, and it helps give you a clean shave without irritating your skin or injuring yourself. As far as moisturizing goes, it does that too -- to a certain extent. It softens your skin, but not so much to where you should skip on the lotion or body butter. Regardless, this is one shaving cream that is worth the buy.

Misc Beauty Tools -Gillette - Venus Razor
ChristinaMarieT 3/8/2012 7:21:00 PM
These razors are overpriced for what they offer. They don't last long, and after using just once, they fail to retain a close shave. They do, however, minimize the chances for nicks. Personally, I wouldn't buy again. I find that female razors don't last as long nor give as clean and precise a shave as men's razors do.

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar
ChristinaMarieT 3/7/2012 11:14:00 AM
I never actually owned this perfume, but my oldest sister did, and I do remember trying it a few times. It smells so delicious. I love sugary, feminine scents, and this is totally it. The cotton candy smell to this is unique and realistic. It's a very strong perfume, too, so people will smell you miles away, even if you spray on a decent sized amount. Personally, I love it when people can smell what I wear, so this is no problem to me. My only disappointment comes from how well-known it is! Nowadays, it seems like someone could recognize the scent in an instant, and I would prefer a little more mystery. I like my perfumes to become one of my signature scents, and I believe signature scents should be a little unique to the person. Other than that, I have no complaints about the actual product. I'm only giving 4 lippys instead of 5 because I'm not so sure about the staying power, however.

Accessories -Unlisted Brand - Ugg slippers and boots
ChristinaMarieT 3/7/2012 12:05:00 AM
Okay, okay, we all know Ugg shoes are really boring and average and plain in appearance... But they're so freaking comfortable and durable! My feet are always so warm in these. And despite their yawn-worthy looks, they do add a special touch to certain outfits. They are perfect for the cold seasons, no doubt about that. Really, my only problem is that they aren't great to wear when it's heavy rain or heavy snow (and when girls wear them with shorts in spring or summer, but that's another thing entirely). I recommend investing in a pair. You won't be disappointed!
