Eyeliner -Smashbox - Smashing Cream Eyeliner
Catloveschanel 1/11/2010 8:47:00 PM
Hello, one day I decided I needed cream eyeliners. So I ordered 6 on ebay without ever reading a MUA review. I am so glad I did not read the reviews, as this works really well for me. I use the Midnight Brown Eyeliner and apply to my lids with the Smashbox angled brow brush. I have somewhat oily lids and it stays on all day. Then I use it for eyeshadow. I apply the rest of it, without getting more from the pot, right above my crease under my brow. I had been so paranoid about crepiness on my eyelids that I haven't been wearing eyeshadow for awhile. The Retinol is working to lift my lids, so I am so happy that this isn't shimmery, doesn't melt off and is the right color for eyeshadow. Someone said to me, wow, you're eyes are huge! And that's how they used to look before I got so paranoid. I close the lid tight so they won't dry out. I gave most of the other ones away for Christmas. These stay close to the waterline, and aren't heavy. THey stay on longer than a crayon, a little less than a liquid eyeliner.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Retinol Dermatologics Nx Concentrated Retinol Serum
Catloveschanel 1/5/2010 2:13:00 AM
I just purchased this product again, after 5 months of regular use. I purchased 1st from QVC, and thought the price expensive for Neutrogena. Dermatolgics is supposed to be the "Upper" end of Neutrogena. 2nd Time I purchased from ebay, as I was going to run out. (QVC: $64, ebay $51... QVC much slower at shipping) I knew nothing about Retinols, so I scoured the boards for advice. I used this every other night, and I had good results, especially with the jowels, and the area around the mouth. I smoke so I am regularly forming facial lines, and I know, I know, I'm going to quit. I started a month ago using every night. No breakouts, no zits. Believe me, I have broken out a lot from all these wrinkle creams I have tried. I just can't afford to, as now zits make scars that don't go away. I went to the dermatologist for my sensitive skin on my legs, and to discuss Retin-A. He looked at my skin and said, "you don't have wrinkles..." (I love him, but he's married...) He said, with your sensitive redhead skin, Retin-A will kill you. So I showed him the Neutrogena and he said to keep using it, and to use it all around the eye area, which I haven't done. He also looked at Dr Denese' Firming Facial and Eye Pads (10% Glycolic Acid) and said these won't do anything for you." EDIT: The upper eye area likes it just fine and appears to be responding fine and I am wearing eyeshadow again. I just started using this on my eyes, after 4 days under my eyes feel dry, parched and I fear a new wrinkle. I gave it a rest and put on the Shishiedo eye mask (with Retinol) on night 5. Night 6 I just remembered I started out with this every other day, so I am going to go back to that. Other boards reveal that some dryness and fine lines occur after you use it and it may take 2 months, 5 months a year before it gets better. I have been using Shiseido Benefiance concentrated anti-eye cream for two weeks, and sometimes during the day, it is so dry. I'm going to switch over to that Lighter Perlier eye cream after, as it never gives me any trouble. Night 7: Used pumpkin cleanser from mychelle and rinsed my face 15 times. I didn't used to have very much dryness. I also used their sunscreen... as we had a sunny day in Seattle. I wonder if I was leaving cleanser at the tip of my eye area and that's why it ws drying out... because today it feels great and less puffy and that extra wrinkle is gone. whew. Day 12: My upper eyelids have lifted, wrinkles are less, and I am so happy. The undereye area extra wrinkles that I feared above are gone. whew. I'm pretty happy. Also, I tried putting an AHA on an area of my cheek (Area 51) that has acne scars 1 / 2 hour before I put on the Retinol. They are fading very nicely. I've also been drinking a lot more water, but still on a high sugar intake. Day 20: My upper eye area has lifted and now I'm using all my old fave eye shadows again. Lower eye area: wrinkles are lessening. Area 51 Acne Scar zone on right cheek is fading. (now I am using Mychelle Night cream and Eye cream 1/2 hour after I put the neutro on and that is working really well for the wrinkles and puffiness.) http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=31737 http://img.makeupalley.com/4/8/3/3/1409269.JPG

This is nice, a bit thick compared to the silkiness of the Shiseido line. Lacking elegance. I haven't gotten milia after two weeks. um, I'm not that impressed, but not that depressed either. lol

Cleansers -Shiseido - Benefiance Creamy Cleansing Foam

A little bit goes a long way. Doesn't foam as much as the "Whip", but it is lovely, elegant & smooth. PH balanced. No tightness.

Cleansers -Shiseido - "Perfect Whip" Foam
Catloveschanel 1/4/2010 11:20:00 PM
This foams up great with my Clarisonic. I have to be careful not to use to much because as mentioned here, a little goes a long way. Just a dot does my face neck, elbows and hands in the shower w/ Clarisonic. Ingredients are in Japanese. I have oily skin. Once in awhile it makes my face tight. Ph Balanced

Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Sparkling Coral - Hydrating Lip Gloss
Catloveschanel 1/4/2010 4:26:00 AM
An actress friend of mine was raving about Christian Dior Lip Gloss. I bought it in the sparkling coral. I love it. It sparkles a subtle gold overtone, but not SPARKLEs like the Fourth of July. It hydrates. It is smooth, but not slimy. The color is pinkish orange, does not bring to mind coral. It is just the color of my lips. Redheads and PPP's would look smashing in this. EDIT: What is sort of ironic is that now my Dior lip gloss got stuck in the lining of my old Chanel purse. I can't get it out. sigh

Fragrances -Jean Paul Gaultier - MaDame

I've always loved this floral and light fragrance and squirted it on at Sephora whenever I pass through. I get lots of compliments from men on this fragrance. I spotted 3.3 fl oz of perfume at TJ Maxx for $24.00, so I snatched it up right away. The packaging is different than the normal bust of a woman, she is tucked in a large square, so I thought I'd include a picture. Notes: Orange Flower, Bulgarian Rose, Italian Mandarin, Star Aniseed, Orchid, Iris, Ylang-Ylang, Indian Ginger, Soft Vanilla, Woody Amber. Style: Lively and audacious, sparkling and delicious. Wish I'd bought the Ferragamo body lotion that was there, it smelled like Fendi, but I have such sensitive skin. http://img.makeupalley.com/4/8/3/3/1498079.JPG

Treatments (Eye) -Skinn Cosmetics - Hylighten Dark Circle & Puffiness Treatment
Catloveschanel 1/1/2010 3:06:00 AM
This didn't work for me. I also have the redhead, Irish translucent skin so I was hopeful based on the other reviews that it would work for me. But it didn't. I used it for 4 months. The lettering came off on the packaging fairly quickly, for such an expensive little bottle. He sounds so sincere on shopnbc but it was overpriced and it didn't work for me.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
Catloveschanel 12/31/2009 3:38:00 AM
My legs are all sensitive, breaking out in a rash when I wear boots and wool socks so I can't use any moisturizer. They are so dry they are almost cracking with the cold weather. I went to the derm, switched to silk socks and applied this cream. So far so good. No reactions and my legs feel as smooth as silk.

Eye Primer -Tarte - Lifted™ Natural Eye Primer with Firmitol™
Catloveschanel 12/24/2009 4:08:00 PM
My eyelids are getting droopy, so I gave it a shot based on your reviews. This product is a mix of a liquid and a powder so a few hours later it turns into sort of a mud crust. It doesn't happen everytime. I talked with the SA at Sephora, and he said it doesn't always work when the powder and liquid is mixed. I also tried it under my eyes, like mentioned above, and it didn't work for me. It made a crust. Note to self: SA said to try Laura Mercier eye primer. Which of course, I will do.

Peel open the foil packets and place the two half moon eye pads under eyes and wait for 15 minutes. Eyes look refreshed, fine lines are diminished and puffiness is down. Next day: wrinkles significantly reduced. Packaging is really nice. I don't know if I should repurchase. I'm in a Shiseido phase right now. I love getting a facial from the rep. Edit: Dead of winter and my skin is so parched, this provides much relief. I love these!

Foundations -Chanel - Lift Lumiere Fluid
Catloveschanel 12/16/2009 4:51:00 PM
The trouble with me is these three huge pores on my cheek. The challenge was to find a foundation that hid them, not highlighted. This did it, but not every time. Could it be user error upon reading your fabulous reviews? I tried brush, sponge and hands. It did not settle into fine lines and wrinkles. It did not make me oily. I don't think I'm as oily as I think I am. Color (cendre 2.5) was iffy, much better in the summer, they must have matched my freckles. Now I'm pale, pale pale. The Shiseido liquid compact is now my holy grail. EDIT: (Shiseido not holy grail, any more.) Last summer I used faked tanners, in winter it was way too dark. I just tried the 2.0 Claire in Lift Luminance, and it is quite fantastic. The luminance part is a trifle more glowy, but didn't give an oily skin sheen. Neither did it have any shimmers to it.

Powder -Shiseido - Sun Protection Compact Foundation
Catloveschanel 12/10/2009 3:15:00 AM
Well, I waited a bit before writing. This is working for me. I am a little obsessed with two large pores, and this covers if I dab just right. Once more, it stays all day. I do have a desk job, but I do take a brisk 1/2 hour walk downtown everyday to visit Nordstroms and Sephora. Believe me, I walk fast. Once and a while I go to Macy's, it's a little bit father, and the Lancome SA helped me, as the Shiseido rep was out. She was brilliant enough to think to match my freckles, not my porcelain undertones. So we settle on i40. Then I got the advanced liquid compact instead of the SPF, so I had to take it back. (It worked very well, too, but only has an SPF of 15.) Then I got another good SA who also agreed I was an i40. She left me flawless. I was able to apply it myself for a flawless, yet sheer look. My bf picked me up after a long day, and he said, "oh, you're not wearing makeup. You're skin looks beautiful" This is what he says when I don't wear makeup, as he dislikes it, but he does realize I'm on the search for the foundation holy grail. So it does cover my pores, and it doesn't settle into my "Fine lines and wrinkles". Thank you very much, nicolethediva for the tip.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - ProTerra Juniper Conditioning Shampoo

My hair is so shiny! Unbelievable. My hair is limp and fine, unlike the other redhead reviewer and if I use a shine product it makes my hair greasy. There is no lather, so I was surprised how healthy my hair looked. It was a free sample so the price was right.

Concealers -Smashbox - Photo Op Under Eye Brightener

It just goes to show I will try any concealer once. This was in my Smashbox phase. It matches my skin, but it is nothing special and not worth the price.
