Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Everlong
BBrazilian 9/16/2010 6:54:00 PM
I purchased this on special on strawberrynet, so I didn't pay full price (thankfully). I purchased the blue colour because I love blue mascara as long as it is navy blue and not an electric blue. The colour is beautiful and very flattering. The packaging is gorgeous as you would expect from an YSL product. Unfortunately, this is the only two good points I could find with this mascara. It simply does not live up to its claims. You have to put on multiple coats to get any sort of thickness or length. You also need the coats to dry completely before applying the next one. I do like the brush, but the actaul mascara is no good, so the brush cannot do its job. Max Factor have a navy mascara that is cheaper and far superior to this. Very disappointing. Would not repurchase, even if it was on special again.

Concealers -Cover Girl - Olay Simply Ageless

We only have two colour selections in Melbourne which is very frustrating - Light and Light/Medium. I chose Light because my foundation choices are usually ivory or porcelain - you get the idea!!!! The pot was cute with the moisturiser swirling through the concealer. It did look quite dark and I was a bit concerned that it would be too dark for me, but once applied, it was definitely the right shade. It did seem to work as a moisturising concealer for me and even though I don't have a huge problem with dark circles, it did lighten up my under eye area. I had a couple of little blemishes I used it on too and it did a pretty good job of covering them. Not the best I've ever used, but still a very good product.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Sensitive Skin
BBrazilian 9/11/2010 4:41:00 PM
Let me start with the bad points. The glass bottle is ridiculous because the liquid is quite thick, so it is very difficult to get it out of the bottle. It would have been better to use a plastic squeeze type bottle instead. CG have used those with other foundations. I purchased Creamy Natural and did expect the coverage to be medium due to the thickness of the liquid. However, the coverage is light but buildable. I applied it over a moisturiser base, so I am not sure how it would have applied over a primer. The look is very natural and pretty. My skin looks dewy and soft with this foundation. CG tends to do very good foundations and mascaras and they have not let me down with this product.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Smoky ShadowBlast

Love CG products, but absolutely hate these!!!! I purchased 3 of the colour combos, which was stupid to begin with. I should have tried just one to see if they were any good. The problem is mostly with the application. The shape of the makeup is awkward and that makes it just about impossible to apply. The colours I chose were all awful. They had no staying power. Needless to say, they went straight into the bin.

Foundations -Max Factor - Pan-Cake [DISCONTINUED]
BBrazilian 8/29/2010 3:34:00 AM
I just keep coming back to this foundation. There is no comparison to the finish you get with this and I can see why it was used in the movie industry for so many years. I do not need a separate concealer when I use this as it does the job perfectly. I use a sea sponge to apply it. I use the sea sponge quite moist, not dripping wet, but so that it holds some water. I do not wet the pancake first, I rub the sponge around the makeup and then rub and pat it on my face and eye area. You do not have to work quickly because you can blend it easily with your damp sponge. When I have applied enough product, I rinse my sponge so that it is just moist. I then blend the foundation until it looks smooth. The finish is absolutely flawless and amazing. They used to suggest only using a sea sponge with this product, but I don't know if that is still the case. I have tried other sponges and they just don't do the same job IMO. Another important thing to remember with pancake is not to apply moisturiser or primer underneath as it will competely ruin the effect. You must make sure that you evening routine is the important one. People have said that this is a hard product to work with. I find it really easy to apply and very hard to make mistakes with.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Powderflage
BBrazilian 8/24/2010 4:59:00 AM
The packaging is ridiculous for what you get. A tiny little screw top jar in a large pop top cardboard container painted in camouflage colours! The brush is small, but I think it is an appropriate size for brushing around the eye area and it is very good for getting into the nooks and crannys. The powder is very finely milled and is pale pink in colour. I detected a tiny bit of sparkle in it under bright lights. I applied it over eye balm and found it to be an excellent concealer. It minimises fine lines and really brightened up my under eye area. I did not have any heavy duty concealing to be done, but I did notice a definite improvement. I worry about powders being irritating and this is definitely not the case with powderflage.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Mascara Black Sapphire 710 for Blue Eyes
BBrazilian 8/20/2010 8:32:00 PM
Covergirl make great mascaras. I am currently using Volume Exact. I thought I would give Eyelights a go because it sounded great. A CG mascara that would highlight the blue in my eyes and would also offer the benefits of a CG mascara. I was terribly disappointed with this product. It failed as a mascara and it failed in its promise to bring out the blue in my eyes. It was very, very ordinary. I also purchased the matching eyeliner in Sapphire and this was also quite disappointing as it should have been noticeably blue and it was almost black - very similar to the mascara. Even when I looked at them in bright sunlight, I could not discern any blue in them. Oh well, back to Volume Exact.

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Baked Collection Baked Smokes

Great product. I use it wet in summer because aussie summers require a fairly robust product that is going to stay put. In winter I use it dry. The colours are highly pigmented and blend beautifully. A very high quality product for a very reasonable price.

Sunscreen -Clarins - (New Formula) UV Plus Day Screen SPF 40 High Protection with E3P
BBrazilian 8/14/2010 9:17:00 PM
At first I liked this product. If you apply it prior to make up, it keeps your make up matte for the entire day which is unusual for me (even though I am in my early 40's). However, it can make applying your makeup difficult as I find it "grabs" your makeup somehow and makes it difficult to blend. That may just be my experience but it has happened with a few different foundation brands and I have good skin. My other peeve with this product is the size. Let's face it, sunscreen is not expensive, so how do they justify the hefty price tag for such a teensy tiny little bottle of sunscreen? It's ridiculous. I am going back to Olay complete SPF 30 which is a fraction of the price and does a better job IMO.

Lip Liners -Rimmel - 1000 kisses stay on lip liner in Tiramisu
BBrazilian 8/14/2010 3:02:00 AM
This is a great pencil! My Clarins nude auto pencil ran out and I got caught short, so I had to buy this at short notice. I am so glad I did because at a fraction of the price of Clarins, it is just as good! The colour goes with so many different shades of lipstick and it draws a great line with no effort. One of my pet peeves is when lipliners dont draw a strong line and you really have to tug at them. You only have to gently touch your lip line to get a great colour. Fabulous product!

Primer/ Corrector -Natio - Complexion Corrector - Yellow
BBrazilian 8/14/2010 2:54:00 AM
Horrible. When the product first came out of the tube I thought it would be fantastic as it was quite thin and the colour was great. I wanted a product that would spread easily on the under eye area to conceal dark circles. I applied it over Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Balm which should have given it plenty of slip. It simply does not budge! I found it damn near impossible to blend and had to do what you should not do around the under eye area and that is to tug quite harshly with the sponge, just to get the stuff to blend in. Will not buy again. Very cakey and hard to use.

Mascara -Lavera - Volume Mascara
BBrazilian 8/13/2010 2:18:00 AM
I really, really wanted to love these products because they are natural products. I was going through a raw vegan phase and this was part of it. I purchased several items in the Lavera range and they were all terrible. I could hardly get anything out of the mascara. No length, depth, anything. It was almost like play mascara. I was so horribly disappointed because the products were expensive here in Australia and I just felt completely ripped off!

Crème -Cover Girl - AquaSmooth SPF15 Make-up
BBrazilian 8/13/2010 2:08:00 AM
OK, so I like CG products, that should be apparent by now. This is a good foundation. I do not use it at the moment, but I have used it from time to time. As I have said in previous reviews, I use Clarins skincare which allows me to get away with using drugstore brands of cosmetics because my base is good. Of the drugstore brands, I think CG make excellent foundations and this is no exception. However, their "Clean" foundation is superior to this IMO, but this is still good. It can be worn light or heavy depending on your application and it is good for when your skin is not at its best. What I really like about this product is that it does not irritate.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Liquiline Blast in Blackfire
BBrazilian 8/13/2010 1:56:00 AM
Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Covergirl because I think they are the best value for money of the drugstore brands. However, I love my Loreal liquid eyeliner and always return to it because I have never found a pencil that can do the job of a liquid . I have also never found a liquid eyeliner that does as good a job as my Loreal liner. How pleasantly surprised I was at this eyeliner. I don't usually use CG pencils at all. I think their pencils are their weakest item generally. This pencil is very different and does live up to its claims. It draws a lovely dark line that does look like liquid liner and the smudger helps accentuate the effect. That's all very well, but would it stay on all day? Yes it did!!!! Yeah!!!!!It also lines the inner eyeline beautifully. Can I let go of my Loreal liquid eyeliner? That's like letting go of an old friend. We shall have to wait and see, but I am really loving my CG eye pencil.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
BBrazilian 8/7/2010 8:18:00 PM
I had really high hopes for this product. Australian weather is brutal on the skin and I wanted a product that did everything - moisturised, sunscreen, colour. People rave about this product and I thought that it must be good if you pay so much for it right???? WRONG!!!! It's just so ordinary. I get much better results from cheaper brands like Covergirl or Maybelline provided I use a decent product like Clarins sunscreen underneath them. I was disappointed in the coverage. They say its buildable. It's not! It does not moisturise and I don't even require much moisturisation on my skin. I cannot be sure whether it was responsible for the 4 pimples I got on my left cheek, but I don't usually break out, so I am suspicious now. Overall, a waste of a lot of money. Edited 11/11/10 Call me a glutton for punishment, but I gave this a second chance because I work in a kindergarten and need a good SPF foundation on the days we spend outside. Sometimes my Zinc based foundation is hard to remove, so I gave this a second try. This time, I used it according to the directions by applying with my fingers instead of a sponge. I used "porcelain" which was the closest match to my skin colour. It does apply really well and does not cake or show up on the skin. However, that is about the only positive thing I can say about this makeup. I do not have reactive skin and this made me want to scratch my face off by the end of the day. My skin was so irritated that is was unbearable. Once again, I developed pimples. The foundation gives my skin a strange sheen which is not very flattering. I really need to stress that my skin tolerates almost anything these days, so this is unusual. I have changed the amount of lippies from 2 to 1. Not sure about how good it works as a sunscreen as I can't wear it long enough to really test it out. Very expensive also!
