Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation

Not keen on this at all. I'm an NC42 with golden undertones and the shades in this foundation run too light and too yellow/orange. I tried 4 shades in total and none of them matched me. I looked like I was in the first stages of kidney failure, and some of the shades turned me radioactive orange aswell. I have normal/combo oily skin and this dried my skin out badly. I never have dry skin, so when this foundation dried me out, even with moisturiser underneath, I knew it wasn't for me. Emphasized dry patches I never even knew I had and just didn't look like REAL skin - way too matte. Coverage is light to medium, which suits me fine as I don't have acne or any major blemishes. When I did have some blemishes though, it didn't cover them at all. Lasting power is good, yes, but my Revlon photoready and colourstay foundations last longer for a cheaper price and with better colour ranges. There is not 1 thing about this foundation I like. To make things worse, I'm sure this foundation was the cause of the blemishes on my cheeks. Definately wouldn't repurchase.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - dettol antibacterial soap
rated 5 of 5
Adriana265 10/27/2010 5:13:00 PM

My favourite soap ever. This is the only product I wash with....I've tried plenty of soaps in the past and they all dried my skin out, even the highest rated ones on MUA. This one does not strip my skin and leaves me feeling really soft and moisturised. It has no perfumey fragrance which I am glad about, combats odours and has antibacterial properties to boot. Plus it is cheap too - about 69p I think.

Misc Beauty Tools -100 Percent Pure - CRUELTY FREE FACIAL CLEANSING BRUSH
rated 4 of 5
Adriana265 10/26/2010 12:42:00 PM

I got this for around £6, though I know it's sold at $9 in the US. This brush is described as being 100% Natural, 100% Vegan & Gluten free. It's supposed to gently cleanse the skin and exfoliate dead skin cells. I use this once or twice a day with my cleanser and it gives me a really good clean without being harsh on my sensitive skin. My skin is left so smooth, soft, and feels fresh. I've noticed a reduction in breakouts since using this. The brush is easy to hold and doesn't slip out of my grasp even when wet. It is rather pricey, but I haven't noticed shedding (apart from the first time I used it) and it is one of the only brushes that doesn't irritate my skin. I would repurchase.

Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Exfoliating Gloves
rated 4 of 5
Adriana265 10/26/2010 12:10:00 PM

I usually use really rough exfoliating towels or gloves to wash with, but I thought I'd try these out as my sister had a pair in her shower. They are really nice, but a lot more gentle than I'm used to. Not that I'm complaining though...these are good for an everyday scrub rather than a deep 'scrub that skin off!' exfoliation heheh. It lathers my soap up really well and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. They come in different colours too...I've seen blue, pink, green, so there's plenty of choice if you're fussy about that sort of thing. I would definately recommend these if you've never tried exfoliating gloves before - beats using your plain old hands and soap!

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Girl Meets Pearl
rated 3 of 5
Adriana265 10/25/2010 11:31:00 AM

The best highlight benefit have released, but still nothing special. On my NC42 skintone its a colourless liquid with fine golden shimmers. Looks natural whilst giving a subtle glow, not garish at all. You don't get much product for the price, however, the packaging is so gorgeous! The smell of the product itself is like raspberry, very yummy. Unsure as to weather I'd repurchase...I can get much cheaper dupes.

Lipstick -MAC - Amplified Creme - Girl About Town
rated 4 of 5
Adriana265 10/25/2010 11:24:00 AM

Oh man this l/s is so hot! I'm an NC42 and this flatters my tan skin and dark hair beautifully. This will look gorgeous on most skintones, I'm sure...I've seen pale girls wearing this and it looks so gorgeous in contrast with their skintone, and dark skinned ladies will just look so radiant with this. It's a bold fuscia - a dark raspberry pink with just a tinge of purple. I like to wear this when I'm rocking all-black clothes as it spices up the outfit...its a real head turner - women will ask what you're wearing and men will call out to you in the streets, showering you with compliments. Honestly! Not for the shy as its very bold and in your face. I rarely wear this during the day (although it does look really nice in summer, so bright and fun), it looks sexiest at night time. The amplified formula is lovely - creamy and moisturises the lips. Lasting power is ridiculously good, it holds up through eating, drinking, talking...and when it does eventually fade, it stains the lips a light fuscia colour.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
rated 4 of 5
Adriana265 10/24/2010 2:05:00 PM

The UK version of this comes with an SPF of 12. Just saying. I tried colorstay in the past and hated it - it was thick, heavy, cakey, broke me out and oxidised. That was the combo/oily formula. I recently got the dry/normal formula...what a difference! This one looks natural, doesnt oxidise and isnt thick or heavy. It spreads and blends so easily. The oily/combo formula leaves a flat dull look, but the dry formula leaves a more satin, healthy finish. I'm an NC42 with golden undertones (I use the shade caramel in Photoready btw) and toast matches me perfectly. It's not pink or yellow toned, but a true golden brown colour. I tried several other shades and none of them worked for me - natural tan (too beige and light), golden caramel (radioactive orange), rich tan (way too pink toned), early tan (too light and beige/pink)...toast is definately the best for me. The coverage is light to medium, which I love because I don't have any acne or scarring. The oily/combo formula gives medium to full coverage though. This one covers redness and small blemishes fine. Lasting power is so good - I'm a nurse and this stays on with no touchups for my 12 hour shift where I'm constantly on my feet and rushing about. I have normal to combo oily skin and the formula is perfect for me. The oily/combo formula contains SD alcohol which is extremely drying and irritating to the skin. I would recommend everyone just use the normal/dry formula, and if you're excessively oily, use an oil control primer underneath. I hate the packaging, it's messy and unhygienic. Also, it's rather pricey for DS (£11.99) but they occasionally have it on offer for £9.99. I'll definatly repurchase.

Mascara -E.L.F. - Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara
rated 2 of 5
Adriana265 10/24/2010 1:47:00 PM

Nothing special...it keeps my brows in place all day, but leaves them feeling rather stiff? And it breaks me out around my brows (somewhere which I didn't even know could get breakouts lmao) with sore red pimples and occasionally whiteheads. Yuck. The product tends to get gloopy after just a few uses, despite it wiping the brush with a tissue after each use. Both ends last me about 2 months with 3 days per week usage, so it's quite good for the price. I wouldn't repurchase.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Sudocrem
rated 4 of 5
Adriana265 10/23/2010 8:16:00 PM

I like sudocrem - it's not a miracle product by any means - but it's good. I mainly use sudocrem on my blemishes under my makeup; it creates a waterproof barrier to stop the makeup from making my blemishes worse, whilst helping to "heal" them (it's got antibacterial properties) at the same time. It seems to dry out my pimples and take away redness. Personally I love the smell of sudocrem...it's so nice. If it leaves a white cast on your face, you are using too much. Just dab a bit on any blemishes you have and pat it in until you can no longer see the product on your skin. Not to mention, it's dirt cheap for a large amount of product. A definate repurchase for me.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Midnight Fantasy Britney Spears
rated 2 of 5
Adriana265 10/23/2010 4:58:00 PM

I wanted to love this, but it's way too sickly and overly sweet for me. Imagine a giant blueberry, topped with drizzlings of blueberry sauce, scattered with blueberries...you get my drift. It's like a blueberry explosion with a dash of vanilla and tart. Uggggh. I know people will get offended by me saying this (not my intention; I apologize in advance if I do offend) but it is an extremely juvenile scent. Something a 6 year old would get free with her barbie makeup kit or something. There's no depth to it. Lasting power is AMAZING - one spritz will last all day. I do find it overpowering though, people can smell this from a mile off, and I can smell it on myself all day too. A no-go for summer as you will suffocate all those within a 5 metre radiance. Definately for the cooler months. Overall I think this is a decent fragrance (ie it is not terrible) but too sweet. You thought pink sugar was sweet? Nothing on midnight fantasy.

Liquid -Bourjois - Bio Detox Organic Foundation
rated 3 of 5
Adriana265 10/22/2010 1:17:00 PM

Not a bad foundation. My major gripe is the colour range - way too limited. I'm an NC42 w/ golden undertones and chose the darkest shade called LIGHT BRONZE. It's too light for my skin and is a beige, slightly pink toned colour. Aside from the colour match, the formula itself is pretty nice - it offers medium coverage *covered any reddness I had and small blemishes on my chin* and doesn't look to heavy or thick on the face (I could tell I was wearing makeup though). The ingredients are pretty good for a DS brand, and I found that this foundation didn't break me out or irritate my sensitive skin. It leaves a matte finish to the skin. I have normal/combo oily skin and the lasting power is pretty good - 7 or 8 hours, more if I set with powder. Doesn't get oily or greasy on my face. However, those with dry skin will need to MOISTURISE WELL before applying this as it's quite drying and dries very quickly on the face too, which can make it difficult to blend if you're not quick. Packaging is lovely...a lightweight pump bottle. It's quite pricey at £10.99, but if you find a good colour match, I think it's worth it. Overall this is a very nice foundation. I personally would not repurchase though, because I cannot find a decent colour match. Would definately recommend others to check it out though! I'd give it 3.5 lippies.

Powder -100 Percent Pure - HEALTHY FLAWLESS SKIN FOUNDATION POWDER SPF 20
rated 2 of 5
Adriana265 10/22/2010 5:50:00 AM

This is described as a super lightweight face powder to give you a flawless & poreless complexion. They say it can be used alone or over the 100% pure tinted moisturizer. I have pretty clear skin apart from the occasional blemish, and this powder alone doesn't really do much for me. It's quite sheer. I like to used it over the TM and it gives a lot better coverage that way. Doesn't look cakey, heavy or thick. Camoflages any redness on my face nicely. The ingredients are full of anti-aging vitamins, antioxidants and skin purifying eucalyptus, soothing calendula, chamomile and rose, oil and absorbing rice powder. It doesn't contain talc, chemical preservatives, fragrances etc...and I have had no problem with it irritating or breaking out my sensitive skin. I'm an NC42 w/ golden undertones and chose the shade TOFFEE. It suits me fine at first, but oxidises throughout the day and I'm left looking nasty and orange! Overall this is a nice powder but I wouldn't repurchase as I can't use this product by itself, only ontop of another base, and it oxidises into a radioactive orange colour.

Toners -100 Percent Pure - Organic Rose Hydrosol
rated 5 of 5
Adriana265 10/21/2010 7:43:00 AM

I love this stuff! I use it after cleansing/toning & it softens and hydrates my skin without the need for heavy moisturisers. I have normal-combo oily skin and this is perfect for me. Doesn't irritate my sensitive skin or break me out. I simply spray it on whilst my toner is still slightly damp on my skin, then pat it in until it's fully absorbed. Make sure you actually pat it in - if not, it will evaporate from the skin and take all your skins natural oils with it, which in turn will either slightly dry out your skin or just not moisturise it properly. It soothes my skin and gets rid of any reddness on my cheeks. It's the perfect night time moisturiser as you don't want to suffocate your skin with creams and cheap fillers and chemicals. It's a little pricey (I paid just under £10) for a small bottle, but worth it imo. Would definately repurchase.

Tinted Moisturizer -100 Percent Pure - Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
Adriana265 10/21/2010 7:30:00 AM

I'm an NC42 with golden undertones and chose the darkest shade TOFFEE, which doesn't suit my skin undertone well (it's more pink/orange based) but blends in well enough not to look too 'off'. The shade below TOFFEE is way too light for me. Not many colour matches available. I have normal/combo oily skin and the formulation isn't too heavy for me. It doesn't leave a dewy finish per say, but it does not leave it looking matte or satin either. I'd say it's a slight step above the dewy finish. It looks very natural - as in it looks like I have put nothing on. It evens out my skintone a little but will not cover major blemishes (I do not have acne, scarring or anything, so it's not a problem for me)....very light coverage. It moisturises my skin without being too greasy, but can get a little oily in summer. Lasting power isn't amazing, but I wasn't expecting it to be as it's only a TM. I use it ontop of primer and it lasts 5 hours or so before I notice fading. The packaging is really nice - comes in an attractive pump bottle which is hygienic and less messy to use. The bottle is 50mls and should last a good while. The price is rather steep but you are paying for all natural ingredients which are better for your skin than all the cheap fillers and chemicals regular makeup uses so I'm not too fussed. I don't notice any breakouts or irritation from using this tinted moisturiser. Also contains SPF. Overall it's an ok product but I would not repurchase - colour match is off, doesn't make much of a difference to my face and gets oily in hot weather.
