This concealer is cakey, messy and I found the color unusable for either under eye or on the face. Perhaps it is only young people or those more talented with make up who find it helpful. Unfortunately, like with Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage, I just find the consistency of this poor.

Bronzers -LORAC - face selftantalizer
rated 1 of 5

This face self tanning product is beyond bad. No matter how hard you try to put the correct amount on your face you end up with a muddy ugly mess. I have used many Lorac products and have like them all but this is just not something to WASTE your money on. I take few things back to the store, but this is going back to ULTA.

Hair Removal -Olay - Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo
rated 1 of 5
3110hello 1/23/2013 3:43:00 PM

I have a facial hair problem, like so many women of all ages. I have had laser treatments by a plastic surgeon's office and most of my facial hair was removed (all but the course GREY hair because it won't work well on light colored hair). However, for the upper lip line and other stray areas I thought this might work for a longer term solution than shaving. WRONG. The premise of this product is that the waxy "protector" product is supposed to help keep the cream depilatory from burning like hell and then making your skin red and burned. Nope. It hurt and to boot, little if no hair was removed. I realize I am a fair skinned gal with somewhat sensitive skin. However, for the $20 or so cost of this product, I expected MUCH MORE. I don't recommend it.

Polishes -Butter London - Tea with the Queen

This is a gorgeous nude color; very complimentary to my pale complexion. One of the best of their products, I find the polish is nice to apply and without t doubt I get the most compliments on this color over any other. Goes with anything - not a statement polish but uber flattering. Hightly recommend.

Eyeliner -Tarte - Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner - Bronze
rated 3 of 5
3110hello 1/19/2013 12:59:00 PM

This liner does not compete with any MAC or Bobbie Brown or even most DS liners. In fact I would go so far as to say that it might be best be used as an eyeshadow? I like many Tarte products ( lips, cheeks, some shadows) but have been disappointed in these liners. The application of these liners is sketchy - they do not apply with precision and seem a little less dense / too wet for my liking. They don't seem to set in the same way a good liner sets - taking longer than I would like to work for me. Honestly I use the two I own occasionally as shadows but not very often and feel as though I should have returned them considering their price.

Concealers -Kat Von D - Tattoo Concealer
rated 4 of 5
3110hello 1/19/2013 12:45:00 PM

As have we all, I purchase one concealer after another in the hope that it will hide the variety of capillaries, dark spots and other less than perfect places on my face. Many disappoint me, however, this concealer works well for everything except for under eye (for which I always buy a separate concealer). It has a very creamy consistency and when patted on areas that need coverage AFTER I apply my regular foundation, it hides most discolorations and redness effectively for at least 8 hours. I will say that I have yet to find a concealer that remains effective for longer than about the average work day unless it is too thick for my liking. Give this one a try if you have slight to moderate discoloration after using a medium foundation.

Eye Shadow -Tom Ford - cognac sable
rated 3 of 5
3110hello 1/8/2013 11:57:00 PM

This quad of shadows from Tom Ford was introduced to me through several you tube make up gurus who raved about the combo of colors and how they looked on their brown eyes. Not sure I have ever purchased a set of four shadows for over $75.00 but I sure did here - ordering through Neiman Marcus. In this quad there are two basic satin like brown tone colors, one slightly shimmery eggshell color and then a glittery bronze color. I think the two browns are very pretty and the quality of those shadows is good. However, the lighter color is not very pigmented and the bronze color I have not come to like at all. To be frank, I am not quite sure how to apply it in conjunction with the other colors - its like it was thrown into the quad for some night time "look" that I don't quite get. I don't find this later color that complimentary or pigmented (chunky glitter though) and doubt I would use it for much. I am sure I will use the browns. But, that said, I expected more from a Tom Ford make up product (miracles, maybe, for the price) and have equivalent MAC shadows for much less money. Can't recommend. Resist the urge.

Polishes -Lippmann Collection - No More Drama
rated 5 of 5
3110hello 1/8/2013 11:38:00 PM

By far one of my HG nail polishes, this Lippmann polish goes on my nails giving me a darker brownish "nude" with a gloss and bit of underlying shimmer that is uber flattering! Wearable for anytime - day or night, this color flatters my skin and hands and allows me a little "wow" factor while being tailored and professional looking. Highly recommend - although expensive, one bottle will go a long time and you won't regret the purchase!

Blush -LORAC - exposed baked matte satin blush
rated 4 of 5
3110hello 12/31/2012 10:18:00 PM

After looking for a blush that would actually give me a nice natural "been out in the sunshine" look for a long time, I finally found one in Lorac's Exposed. I was introduced to it through the videos of several make up gurus on you tube and the first time I went to look at it (Ulta) I shied away because it looked too shimmery. But ... I finally took the plunge and purchased it - Surprisingly it does not glitter up my face but rather does provide me with a nice flushed look. I really like this blush and do recommend it.

Polishes -Deborah Lippmann - Candy Shop
rated 3 of 5
3110hello 12/31/2012 8:03:00 PM

Some Debra Lippmann polishes with glitter galore are great, others just don't look good enough for the pain in the rear they are to take off. This one is in that category. I tried it alone and over several base colors trying to like the texture and look of it, but I just didn't. I am sure this is just personal preference but for me, the colors weren't as impressive as they looked in the bottle and the glitter too chunky. I gave mine to a very young friend who will find it much more to her taste.

Styling Products -Moroccanoil - Curl Defining Cream
rated 3 of 5
3110hello 12/28/2012 8:52:00 PM

I bought this on the promise of the brand name. Moroccan Oil products get such great reviews...however, I have been disappointed in this product's performance when used in my very curly hair. I have been using it as I would any curl activator by pulling it root to end through my hair, which has resulted in no noticeable benefit to the way my hair looks. I may try what the previous reviewer suggests which is to only apply it to my ends. It seems a shame to have spent so much money on a product and not use it. I will tell you that I can't recommend it at this time. I am currently trying the Ouidad styling creme and finding it effective.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed Tarte Blush
rated 3 of 5
3110hello 12/27/2012 7:02:00 PM

I don't quite understand how this blush works so well with so many different women and just does nothing for me. I have had it for almost a year and continue to try to make it work for me but frankly it just does nothing for my complexion (NC20). I like Tarte, generally, and use several of the Amazonian blushes but honestly don't like them more than any other, in fact, I think Nars' blushes flatter me more and stay on as long. I sigh as I write this since I do yearn for that perfect blush that makes me look like I just came in from the sun!

Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Loose Setting Powder - Translucent
rated 3 of 5
3110hello 12/25/2012 8:00:00 PM

Having read good reviews of this product and watching several make up gurus rave about it, I decided to try it. Although I like it well enough and have used it off an on for over three + months, I can't say I find it better than any other high end loose powder that I have purchased; it seems similar to Nars' loose powder, for example. I am finding that the older I get, the more careful I have to be with all types of powders - since they settle in my lines and wrinkles. I do always finish my makeup with a dusting of powder but these days I make sure it is finely milled and then spritz with Urban Decay's All Nighter. Don't think I will repurchase this but rather try something else.

Eyeliner -MAC - Dark Diversion Fluidline
rated 4 of 5
3110hello 12/25/2012 6:26:00 PM

I have many many MAC fluid lines. Several are my HG liners such as Blacktrack, Avenue, Waveline - however this did not become one of them. The color was just not as distinctive on my eyes as I would have liked - my eyes are a hazel/brown and I hoped there would be more dark purple hue to it when it just didn't. It came across as a dirty brown on me. I still use it occasionally but more when I want a dark brownish look. Avenue is my favorite brown, though, and it was a limited edition that I picked up two of when I got it and realized how great it was! I do hate how so many MAC products are limited editions and the only chance you have of getting a product you love again is if they re-promote. Anyway, had higher hopes for this - won't be chasing this one down again.

Treatments (Eye) -L'Oreal - Lash Boosting Serum
rated 4 of 5
3110hello 12/22/2012 11:44:00 PM

I think this serum works. Not as well as something like Latisse but considering the price difference, how can one complain? I noticed that my lashes grew faster and thicker within a month and with regular application I thought my lashes looked somewhat darker, too. The trick is regular use and reasonable expectations. I recommend this product.
