Pressed Powders -Almay - Clear Complexion Light & Perfect Pressed Powder
renia22 4/14/2006 4:30:00 PM
My skin is pretty decent except when it breaks out, so mostly I just use concealer where I need it & some powder. This one by Almay is really nice because it absorbs oil and leaves my skin looking fresh and shine free, without aggravating break-outs. I use translucent since I don't like heavy, colored powders. It works well with my light skin tone; you can barely even detect it. Decent packaging & good quality.
Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effects Moisturizing UV Formula

I like that this version is unscented and that it has spf 15. It does leave a bit of a shiny residue, so usually I blot away any excess with a clean & clear oil absorbing sheet (now there's the best beauty product ever invented!!)I'm not sure if I'm noticing any reduction in fine lines (I'm 34), but I would probably try this again.
Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effects Night Firming Cream
renia22 4/14/2006 4:22:00 PM
This light cream absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a residue like some night creams. The scent is okay, a little strong for me. I would prefer it in unscented (I'm not sure if they make it in an unscented version). I didn't notice any firming, though. Overall, it was okay and I might try it again.
Treatments -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon

Thick, greasy serum that made my hair look terrible.
This is a clay based mask with exfoliating beads in it. I put a thin layer on my face & then let it dry, then I add water and exfoliate. It leaves my skin very fresh & clean, and I've noticed better skin & fewer break-outs since using this line. Good for oily/break-out prone skin.
Cleansers -Avon - Pore-Fection Cleanser [DISCONTINUED]

This is my new favorite skin care line for the face!! I'm 34 and I still have problems with break-outs, but most of the products formulated for younger people are too harsh for me. This clay based cleanser gets my skin nice & clean, my pores feel and look better and I don't have as many break-outs. The whole line is just fabulous!!
Lotions/ Creams -Shi Kai - Borage Dry Skin Therapy hand cream
renia22 4/13/2006 1:42:00 PM
This lotion absorbs quickly and leaves skin soft. Moisturizes quite well, but isn't greasy. Works well around my eyes also. It comes in a green, flip top tube and is small enough to carry in my purse, but large enough to get a lot of uses out of it. Slight chemical smell, I wish they would fix that. No spf protection. This cost around $8 or $9 at Whole Foods.
My hair is fine & medium brown in color, so I thought I'd try the amber/maple shade. It made my hair flat and I did not notice a difference in color, either. I'm not a big fan of the John Frieda products anyways, but I bought this on impulse. Waste of money.
Slightly sticky when first applied, but it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a residue. I've been using it for several weeks and so far I don't see any difference in skin texture or firmness, but for less than $3 at Wal-Mart, it's not bad. The smell reminds me of pantene shampoo, which isn't my favorite scent, but it fades quickly so it doesn't bother me too much. I probably would not buy it again, though.
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Sheer Lipglide - Sheerly Strawberry 090
renia22 4/11/2006 10:53:00 PM
A sheer, pretty, shiny red. A bit sticky & not very long lasting, but nice for when I dress up. I'm not big on make-up, so I like that this is sheer & that it enhances my lip color without being too thick or lipstck-y.
I don't know what it is about the L'Oreal shampoos, but they don't work well on my hair, which is shoulder length and on the fine side. This shampoo dried it out and made it look flat. The L'Oreal Shampoos also feel like they leave a film on my hair. Would not purchase again.
I love this lip balm!! It moisturizes well, leaves my lips looking soft and pretty, and it's only .99 cents. Smells a bit old-fashioned, but that doesn't bother me to much.
Skincare - Body -Trader Joe's - moisturizing cream
renia22 3/31/2006 2:53:00 PM
This lotion is unscented, sinks right in, moisturizes well, and it's inexpensive. I've even used it on my face and it's been okay, and my skin tends to break out. My mother-in-law, who is in her early 60s, also says this is the only lotion that works on her face without giving her sensitive skin problems. However, it contains both natural & synthetic ingredients, including parabens.
Moisturizers -Eucerin - Sensitive Facial Skin Q10 Active Night Anti-Wrinkle Cream
renia22 3/31/2006 2:41:00 PM
I'm 34 years old and I'm starting to see the beginnings of fine lines, but I still get some acne as well. My skin was feeling a bit dry this winter, so I bought this thinking it would help. It was awful! First of all, it does in fact smell like butter, which was ahuge turn off. Secondly, it made my acne worse!! I ended up using it on my body to get rid of it. I would not buy this again.
Toners -Avon - True Pore-Fection Skin Refining Toner [DISCONTINUED]
renia22 3/31/2006 1:27:00 PM
My new favorite toner! I'm 34 years old and my skin is still prone to break-outs. This is the first product that I ever used that actually worked to clear up my skin without drying it out. It cleared up my skin & left it feeling clean. Nice herbal scent, too.
