Lip Gloss -Milani - Coral Shimmer
rated 4 of 5
flamencovixen 1/30/2005 4:03:00 PM

This color is a very pretty shimmery pink - more of a pink coral than a peach coral tone. Very soft-looking and feminine. I am usually not sensitive about scents/tastes (for instance, I like the L'Oreal colour-riche lipstick scent) but this one has a strong odor and it's not a fruity one. However, it dissipated after a few hours. For this price and this pretty color, Coral Shimmer is worth it.

Lipstick -Prestige - Sin

This color appears like a bright pearlescent pink in the tube but is not that intense when I apply one coat of it on my lips. It may be more suitable for cooler skin tones (I have light skin with yellow undertones). However, I like to mix it with another Prestige lipstick called Caracas (shimmery gold-peach color) which results in a coral pearlescent color. This is very similar to another Prestige lipstick color called "Rosario." However, Rosario is much darker.

Lip Gloss -Milani - Dressed Up
rated 4 of 5

In the tube, the color looks pink-red with sparkles. I thought it would be an intense color but on my lips it is a sheer pink. It looks very natural and gives my lips a healthy color. I was pleasantly surprised. However, it doesn't have staying power and will require me to re-apply throughout the day. If you want something opaque, don't get this lipgloss. Also, it does have a scent to it which I am not that fond of but I can overlook it.

Lipstick -Prestige - PL-51A Mojave

This color is a light, natural pink with a subtle shimmer. Very pretty, feminine, and not conspicuous like I find many pink-colored lipsticks to be. Very smooth to apply which I think is interesting since I have two other Prestige lipsticks that tend to be drier. I love the packaging too!

Lipstick -Prestige - Crush
rated 4 of 5
flamencovixen 1/26/2005 11:15:00 PM

This lipstick has a creamy texture but I still need to put on a lip balm first to allow for smoother application. I do like the color which is a neutral pink brown color. I have light skin and this color gives me a very healthy natural look without being overdone. I also love that the end of tube is see-through so that you get to look at the color of the lipstick although it is not that easy to tell until you put it on.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Volume Perfect Re-Shaping Lip Colour
rated 5 of 5

I got this lipstick (buy one, get one free) in Contouring Coral. I love it! The base is ok and I don't notice any plumping effect. But that doesn't bother me as I got the liptstick because I liked the color. As someone else said, the lipstick looks darker in the tube but when I applied it, it was sheer. It has a subtle glitter to it and the color appears as a soft pink-coral tone on my lips. It fits my skin color which is light with yellowish undertones. UPDATE (5/1/05) I got a little bored with Contouring Coral and have purchased two other colors: Fulfilling Fawn and Blooming Rose. Fulfilling Fawn is a really great neutral, MLBB pink-brown color. Blooming Rose is a neutral rosey-pink (not Barbie pink, thank goodness). The wear doesn't last long but I love the colors and how they don't look heavy on me.

Lip Gloss -Wet 'n' Wild - Glassy Gloss in Cayenne Glaze
rated 4 of 5
flamencovixen 1/15/2005 12:55:00 PM

I love this lip gloss. In the tube, it looks bright red/coral with tiny glitter. But when you put it on your lips, you get a hint of color with a subtle sparkle. However, I agree with others that when you squeeze the tube, it can be a little difficult to control how much comes out of it. Update on 2/16/07 - I don't see these lipglosses in drugstores anymore so I think they have been discontinued. The color in my tube has started to separate so I have to shake the tube; also, it has a soapy scent/taste which I never really noticed before.

Liquid -Almay - Wake Up Call Energizing Makeup SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
flamencovixen 11/17/2004 9:52:00 AM

I bought this foundation a while back and never purchased it again. I thought that it gave me a mask-like look. Coverage was a little to heavy for me. I thought that the foundation was thick and creamy. The scent was also over-powering - it did have a minty/menthol kind of smell (I guess that is what gives you the "wake up call"). I felt that it was also greasy for my combination skin. I have know switched to L'Oreal's True Match and like that foundation better.

Moisturizers -Nivea - Nivea Simply Glowing
rated 2 of 5
flamencovixen 11/17/2004 9:48:00 AM

I think that the packaging of this cream is deceptive. When you look at the jar from the outside, there is an apricot colored pearly sheen which gives you the impression that when you put on the cream, your skin would glow. Well, my skin did not glow and I did not notice any sheen. So I started using it occasionally. The only time I noticed a sheen was when I started to have dry patches on my skin due to using a glycolic toner. I noticed a very subtle apricot-colored sheen only on the dry patches of my face. I actually like the scent and I think it is ok as a moisturizer but I am disappointed with this product and will not buy again.

Concealers -Physicians Formula - Powder Finish Concealer (yellow)
rated 3 of 5

The color is fine but it is too dry to use underneath the eye. I use it to conceal blemishes on other parts of my face. PF has another kind of yellow concealer that is not dry and I use that for my dark circles. I probably won't buy this since I notice that my skin is getting drier as I get older.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
flamencovixen 11/3/2004 1:28:00 AM

This is a general review for the fall LE colour riche line called "L'Oreal Star Confessions." This line just arrived at my local Long's Drugstore and I expect it to become available at other local drugstores soon. I have been anticipating their arrival (especially the arrival of the color Aishwarya Beige) because several MUA'ers from outside the US have been talking about this line for the last few months. Last month's In Style Magazine also had a brief feature of this new line. Outside of the US, this line has been marketed as "L'Oreal Star Secrets" and it has 8 spokemodels with 8 different lipsticks. (I suspect the name was changed to differentiate it from Revlon's "Star Style" lipsticks with their various spokemodels). The display in my Long's has only 5 spokemodels with 5 different lipsticks: Eva Longoria's Caramel (caramel brown), Laetitia Casta's Champagne (sheer frosty pink), Andie McDowell's Rose Carmine (slightly sheer rosy/raspberry color), Aishwarya Rai's beige (sheer beige with a hint of pink) and Noemie Lenoir's plum (deep purply, plummy). They all have subtle sparles in them so that the colors won't look flat and one dimensional on the lips. They come in a black casing, each with the spokemodel's signature on the cap. Has the typical colour riche scent and the creamy feel. I ended up purchasing Aishwarya's beige and Andie's rose carmine and will review them separately. I am disappointed that the US version has only 5 lipsticks, especially because I was wanting to get Gong Li's coral. It's not like she is unknown here in the US!
